Prior to the announcement, both the song “Lithonia” and the IMAX trailer for the film leaked online. In response, Glover went on a rant about the situation on social media. “That’s another reason why y’all don’t get good sh*t. Like, it’s just for what? It’s like we don’t treat… It’s not valuable enough like it’s just a single… And I know who did it, Audiomack. F*ckin’, no soup for you, you’re not getting the album now. That’s what time I’m on,” he said.

Drake Bowls Using ’69 God’ as a Player Name While Out with Friends

Young Thug Delivers "Oh U Went" Video Featuring Drake

Drake appears not to be sweating the “Not Like Us” diss. While bowling with some friends, The Boy made his player name “69 God” and cleared the pins. You can see Drizzy, the bowler, below.

With all the new music hitting streaming platforms on Friday, Camila Cabello’s fourth studio album, “C,XOXO,” is already making waves. Released on June 28, the pop star features a diverse lineup of collabs. Lil Nas X, City Girls, and Playboi Carti to name a few. But get this, “Hot Uptown,” her song with Drake is shaping up to be one of them ones.

Drake’s actually is on two songs of ‘C,XOXO,’ 14-track project. In addition to “Hot Uptown,” he’s on “Uuugly,” each produced by El Guincho and Boi-1da.

Back to “Hot Uptown.” Drake opens with a Drake-esq interlude, like it’s his record as he tends to do whilst featured. The production is clearly a summer vibe and feels almost vintage Views-ish with a dance energy close to the somewhat overlooked “Honestly, Nevermind” project he surprised us with last year.

Cabello shines through as well. It is her record, but Drizzy gets in his pop bag and we kind of forget the stench of his perceived L from the recent Kendrick feud. Emphasis on perceived as not everyone shares the sentiment Drake lost but we should save that argument for another day.

Check this out, the release comes two weeks after Cabello teased her fans, with previews of both songs.

Now each record is finally here and there’s a visualizer for “Hot Uptown” if you want to vibe to Camila’s image in a pool for added content. Let us know what you think.

Why Didn’t Normani Perform At The 2024 BET Awards?

At the 2024 BET Awards last night (June 30), so many people performed, like Ice Spice, GloRilla, and Megan Thee Stallion. Normani was supposed to take the stage as well, but that didn’t end up happening.

Why Didn’t Normani Perform At The 2024 BET Awards?

Before the show, Normani revealed she had sustained an injury that forced her to call the performance off. In an Instagram Story, she explained:

“I am more frustrated and disappointed than anyone believe me. I wanted to get on here and give you guys an update letting you know that while in rehearsals for BET I had a really bad accident and injured myself. I am normally good for powering through under any circumstance but unfortunately due to my doctor’s orders, I am just not able to make this performance happen. I desperately wanted to give you my best on that stage but performing would delay my healing. I have been going through my process and doing my best to make sense of my feelings regarding this. I am devastated and hate feeling like a disappointment to you but I have to focus on recovering at this time. Trust me, I hear you, and I see you. There is nothing more that | wanted to do than perform for you and also, get back to doing what fulfills me most- BEING ON STAGE. Thank you so much for understanding. Sending my love to BET for giving me and all of the other beautiful black women this opportunity. This is definitely NOT how l envisioned this weekend but best believe I will be championing everyone from home tonight.

I’m sorrrrrrrry guys and love you so much.”

She later shared a photo showing her right foot in a walking boot and her right knee bandaged up.

Rick Ross Was Punched In The Face After Playing Kendrick Lamar’s Drake Diss ‘Not Like Us’ In Canada

Rick Ross has made it clear he was on Kendrick Lamar’s side in his feud against Drake. When he was in Canada this past weekend, he paid for it.

At the end of Ross’ set at the Ignite Music Festival in Vancouver on Sunday (June 30), he played Lamar’s Drake diss track “Not Like Us.” A video shows Ross, shortly after leaving the stage, as the song is still playing. He was confronted by a group who were apparently angered by Ross playing the song in Drake’s home country. The situation became physical when one of the men punched Ross in the face, which started a brawl between them and Ross’ associates.

The brawl lasted for minutes, and by the end of it, one of Ross’ associates was unconscious and had to be carried away.

Previously, Drake dissed Ross on “Push Ups.” Ross ended up clapping back by suggesting on his song “Champagne Moments” that Drake got a nose job.

The two then apparently had an exchange in the DMs, and Ross later advised Drake to not respond to Lamar’s “Euphoria,” saying, “I know we not friends, but let me give you this advice because you ain’t got nobody around you, you ain’t got no real n****s around you. Let me put it like that: ain’t no real n****s. Stop. Don’t respond. Don’t respond. You ain’t even peep when the intro came on with that Teddy Pendergrass, that was that Black vibe. Don’t do it. Don’t go write an 8-minute verse.”

2Pac Murder Trial: Keefe D Isn’t Giving Up On Getting Bond Despite Wack 100’s Attempt Falling Through

Duane “Keefe D” Davis will still pursue the chance to get out of jail on bond as he awaits trial in the killing of 2Pac. His lawyer, Carl Arnold, confirmed the decision to Newsweek after a Nevada judge denied his latest attempt at posting bond. He needs $750,000 to do so and had a deal lined up with Wack 100 to get it done, but the judge found the source of the money suspicious.

“We are disappointed with the court’s decision to deny bail to Mr. Davis, especially considering the thorough vetting by Konvict Bail Bonds of the funding source conducted before the source hearing,” Arnold said. “We firmly believe there is a lack of substantive proof that Mr. Davis intended to profit from his alleged connections to the case.”

Calling into the courtroom via Zoom, Wack claimed the funds came from his business, 100 Entertainment. “I know him from passing. I know his son. We sat down and talked a few times in general about personal things when he was having his bout with cancer. Personal things, industry stuff. Just regular conversation,” Wack said. “He’s always been a monumental guy in our community. And I’ve helped several people in our community, whether it was funerals, whether it was for bail.” He also promised only to interview him once the trial was over.

Jim Jones Introduced Swerve Strickland Before He Retained The Heavyweight Title At AEW Forbidden Door

Swerve Strickland retained his AEW heavyweight championship against Will Ospreay at Forbidden Door in New York.

While Ospreay paid tribute to the legendary Hayabusa during his entrance, Strickland continued his entertainment meets pro wrestling crossover by bringing out Dipset founding member and New York native Jim Jones to introduce him.

Jones hit the top of the entrance ramp holding the AEW championship and said he swerves when he drives before the champ’s music hit. Strickland greeted Jones at the top of the ramp, put the belt over his shoulder and made his way to the ring.

Once the bell rang, Strickland and Ospreay set a rapid pace right from the beginning. While the challenger had the early advantage, Strickland found his opening and gained some momentum. Strickland looked to be in momentum after hitting a Swerve Stomp onto the announce table.

After the referee took an errant hit from Ospreay, Don Callis arrived at the ring and handed Ospreay a screwdriver. Prince Nana took out Callis and Ospreay decided against using the screwdriver. Strickland took out Ospreay when he climbed into the ring, then hit the Swerve Stomp for two. He hit the House Call for two again.

Strickland hit a House Call again before hitting Big Pressure for the pinfall victory.

Fans Are Caught Up In Confusion At The Usher Lifetime Achievement Award Tribute Performance At The 2024 BET Awards

Tonight (June 30), the 2024 BET Awards was about giving entertainers their flowers. The most notable honorary of the evening was Usher. As the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, several other musicians joined in on the celebration.

Uproxx cover star Chlöe, Childish Gambino, Keke Palmer, Coco Jones, Tinashe, Teyana Taylor, and more paid tribute to Usher with special performances of his greatest hits. Despite the jammed-packed lineup, following the set, users online shared their mixed reviews of what they witnessed.

The biggest gripe folks had on Twitter was the actual acts selected to take the stage. Continue below to read a few of their responses.

“Hopefully Usher gets a better tribute at the #GRAMMYs cause this wasn’t it. #BETAwards,” wrote one user.

“Usher deserved BETTER. Teyana Taylor was the only good one,” penned one user.

“I just don’t understand who dropped the ball for the KING OF RNB LIKE THIS?!?!?! SHOW YOURSELVES,” wrote another.

“Soooo Luke James, Tank, Vedo, Eric Bellinger, Trevor Jackson, Baby Face, Tevin Campbell, Miguel, etc weren’t available for this Usher tribute?,” added another.

Usher’s BET Lifetime Achievement Award Speech Was Censored So Heavily, Fans Had A Lot Of Questions

Usher has had one hell of a 2024. He’s got a new album, he’s headed on tour, he performed at the Super Bowl, and now, he’s been honored with a BET Lifetime Achievement Award. However, we aren’t sure how he feels about it, because BET’s infamously touchy censor weighed in pretty heavily during Usher’s acceptance speech after he let some colorful language fly in reference to his absentee father. The speech ended up sounding a bit like the radio edit of Snoop Dogg’s “Ain’t No Fun (If the Homies Can’t Have None),” only without the fly instrumental. Fans were quick to let their own commentary off the chain on Twitter.

Despite this, the mics were indeed on during the tribute performance honoring Usher, which featured an all-star roster of nearly all women singers covering hits from across Usher’s near-30-year run of hits. Included in the performance were Childish Gambino (“U Don’t Have To Call”), Keke Palmer (“You Make Me Wanna”), Summer Walker (“Good Good”), Coco Jones (“There Goes My Baby”), Marsha Ambrosius (“Confessions Pt.2”), Chlöe (“Good Kisser”), Tinashe (“Nice & Slow”), Teyana Taylor & Victoria Monét (“Bad Girl”), and Latto (“Yeah!”).

This isn’t the first time the BET Awards have had censor issues — it’s a tradition going back decades at this point. Nor is this the first time this month Usher has had technical difficulties on the mic, after Latto had to help save his performance at her Birthday Bash in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. Check out his speech… in all its censored glory… above.

BET Awards: Usher Gives Emotional Speech On Family & Forgiveness While Receiving Lifetime Achievement Award

Usher reflected on the value of family and the importance of forgiveness during an emotional speech at the BET Awards on Sunday night. Toward the end of the ceremony, he accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award on stage from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

“Getting here has definitely not been easy, but it has been worth it,” Usher said. “I didn’t write anything because I wanted this moment to be exactly what it was: present. In this moment, how I am feeling, and the appreciation that I have for each and every person that have anything to do with this moment tonight, as well as the 30-plus-year career that I’m celebrating. This Lifetime Achievement Award, I don’t know, man. Is it too early for me to receive it? Because I’m still running and gunning and I still love it like I did when I was 8 years old.” From there, he reflected on his journey to finding an identity.

“I was trying to make sense of this name that a man gave me but didn’t stick around because he didn’t love me,” Usher continued. “Or at least that was my perception of it because I had to live long enough in order to understand that you have to have a forgiving heart in order to understand the true pitfalls and hardships of a Black man in America. My father was a product of that. He made a lot of decisions. He made a lot of choices, and one that probably hurt and helped me at the same time was to stay away. That’s part of the reason why I say this is the year of the father, where all the fathers have got to stand up for their sons and daughters and be the man that they need to be for them.”

Childish Gambino Pays Tribute To Usher

Elsewhere during the speech, Usher dealt with his microphone cutting out at several points. In addition to the speech, Childish Gambino gave a tribute performance of “U Don’t Have To Call” for the singer. Be on the lookout for further updates on Usher and the BET Awards on HotNewHipHop.

Killer Mike Gives Passionate Speech To Accept Album Of The Year During BET Awards

Killer Mike gave a fiery speech to accept the award for Album of the Year at the BET Awards on Sunday night. In doing so, he reflected on his arrest at the latest Grammy Awards, which were also held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Donald Glover presented him with the honor and welcomed him to the stage.

“Technically, I was not supposed to be here,” Mike said after grabbing the award. “I was put in handcuffs, and I was marched out of this building. But I wanna tell you, look at God because I’m back, baby, I’m back. I wanna tell Black people that it’s because of BET I’m back, not ’cause of no white person. … A Black man runs this business, a Black company puts this show on, and they got my Black ass back in here. Thank you.”
