HBO Drops Thrilling “Succession” Trailer

The king is dead, long live the king. HBO’s satirical boardroom black comedy Succession dropped the biggest twist of its fourth and final season over the weekend. Media mogul Logan Roy (Brian Cox) finally succame to the terminal illness that was the impetus for the entire show. Roy’s death signaled the start of the show’s endgame and promised the unsheathing of only the sharpest knives. While the show had never held back in the past, the gloves are well and truly off.

Logan’s sudden death leaves his company in turmoil and his four children – Connor, Roman, Kendal, and Shiv – unsure of where they stand in the battle to be named his successor. Meanwhile other problems, such as a deal to acquire Waystar RoyCo, loom large. As the credits rolled on Connor’s Wedding, characters and fans alike stood at a crossroads, unsure of what lay ahead. Luckily, HBO was ready to light a fire and revel in the chaos.

“Succession” Trailer Promises Chaos, Infighting, And So Much More

HBO released a mid-season trailer on April 11 to showcase what’s in store for the Roys going forwards. The trailer showcases four major elements of the show – the relationship between the Roy siblings, Connor Roy’s (Alan Ruck) Presidential campaign, the merger with streaming service GoJo, and the overarching battle to be named Logan’s successor. The trailer paints a picture of mixed successes for the Roys. GoJo CEO Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) is seen calling Waystar RoyCo a “parts shop” with “good parts, bad brand.” Meanwhile, Connor’s political campaign is going well enough for his opponents to ask him to drop out.

However, the biggest plot point the trailer hypes up is the old guard versus new blood battle for control. The Roy Siblings are once more forced into an uneasy alliance to fend off a bid from the Waystar RoyCo board to seize control. That bid has a figurehead in Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen), Shiv’s husband and the current head of Waystar’s primary news outlet. The show is about to reveal its opus, pitting husband against wife, and corporate experience against family legacy. Prepare yourself, because Succession is about to be turned up to 11.

“Barbie” Trailer Is Chaotic Camp At Its Finest: Watch

The second teaser trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie has been released. It should lay to rest any doubts that viewers may have had about the movie. The 2-minute-long teaser is campy, chaotic, and fun in all the right ways. The film was officially announced several years ago. Margot Robbie stars in the film and was attached before Barbie had even found its director. In Barbie, the titular character will go on a journey of self-discovery, leaving her home for the real world. The trailer tells us little about why she must leave. The extremely short film synopsis simply alleges it is because she is “less than perfect.”

The production of Barbie took quite some time to get the ball rolling. The idea was first presented by Universal Studios all the way back in 2009. However, production did not begin until Sony acquired the rights to the film in 2014. Rumors swirled about the actresses in negotiations for the lead role. Both Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway supposedly eyed the part. When Sony failed to put Barbie into production, Warner Bros. acquired the rights to it. Shortly after, Margot Robbie was announced as both the lead actor and producer. Additionally, WB announced Greta Gerwig had stepped into the role of director. Noah Baumbach acts as screenwriter for the film, who many may know as the writer of the divorce drama, Marriage Story, starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver. Over the months that followed, the film added an almost staggering number of top actors and actresses.

Come On, Barbie, Let’s Go Party

In the newest trailer for Barbie, we are introduced to the neon-tinged world of the famous Mattel doll. It opens on a beach with pastel pink sand as a chorus of different Barbies say hello to one another. We see two Kens vie for the attention of Robbie’s character before she takes off in her car. She waves at passers by, hilariously taking her hands off of the wheel of her car completely. Eventually, Barbie and Ken are seen leaving their home for the real world. The end of the trailer shows off Noah Baumbach’s comedic writing chops as two Kens argue on the beach, vowing to “beach each other off.”

Humorous and lights, Barbie looks like it is going to be the perfect summer movie. It boasts an all-star cast, with Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Issa Rae, and Will Ferrell taking on lead roles, among many others. We can expect more from the film in the coming months, but for now check out the trailer above. Barbie releases on July 21.

Halle Bailey And Disney Share New Trailer For “The Little Mermaid”

Disney dropped a new trailer for the upcoming live-action rendition of The Little Mermaid, starring Halle Bailey as Ariel. The 30-second preview showcases many more hints as to what’s to come in the film. We see Ariel meet Prince Eric, played by Jonah Hauer-King. One of the most exciting reveals was Melissa McCarthy‘s Ursula, who laughs at the end of the preview. Bailey tweeted the teaser with the caption, “i’m so very excited to continue the #Disney100 celebration with this new look at #TheLittleMermaid just 100 days until it arrives in theaters!”

With Bailey and McCarthy, the film stars Javier Bardem (Dune, Skyfall) as King Triton. Additionally, the film includes the voice talents of Jacob Tremblay (Room, Wonder) as the fish, Flounder, and Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Snowpiercer) as the crab, Sebastian. Awkwafina (Oceans 8, Crazy Rich Asians) will voice the seagull, Scuttle. In March, McCarthy told Entertainment Tonight that she’s “so excited to see it in its full glory.” She continued, saying, “Doing the Mermaid and working with [director] Rob Marshall and doing one of my favorite villains of all time was an out-of-body experience. I loved it.” She told ET, “every single part of that process was amazing and beyond.”

“The Little Mermaid” Trailer

At the D23 Expo in September, Bailey told PEOPLE how the role changed her. She said, “I’d definitely say coming into this film I was a lot more, I think, just young-minded and a bit more not sure of myself so much. The whole experience of filming, in more ways than one, mirrored Ariel’s journey of finding herself and her voice.” Apparently, on the last day of filming, she broke down in tears. She told PEOPLE, “I remember at the end of filming, wrap day, I was just sobbing because I truly felt like I had come out of this cocoon with Ariel. This story has done so much for me and the filming process has really kind of changed my life. I’d definitely say it mirrored what Ariel goes through in the film.”

Bailey also said that the film “changed [her] perspective on everything” and “impacted [her] life in so many ways.” She hopes that her portrayal as Ariel will mean as much to younger audiences as it does to her. The representation is long overdue. “The fact that now it’s getting to be played by me, a person who looks like me, woman of color, I’m just like, wow, I’m so grateful what it will do for all the other little Black and brown boys and girls who will see themselves in me. Because I know if I had seen myself when I was younger, I think my whole perspective would’ve changed.” The live-action version of The Little Mermaid will hit theaters on May 26, 2023.

Harrison Ford Shines In “Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny” Trailer: Watch

The Super Bowl was quite the hub of trailer releases this year, and this is no exception. A closer look at Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny aired during the program. The exciting new film will include flashbacks of a young Harrison Ford as the character. It will also include flashbacks with Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Killing Eve) playing Jones’ goddaughter Helena. This addition to the Indiana Jones saga takes place during the United States-Soviet Space race of 1969. Indiana Jones and Helena go up against the Nazis for their last adventure.

The franchise will add Mads Mikkelsen and Boyd Holbrook to the cast. They will play the film’s villains, Jürgen Voller and Klaber, respectively. Additional new cast members include Antonio Banderas, Shaunette René Wilson, and Toby Jones. Plus, John Rhys-Davies will bring back the character of Sallah from the 1989 film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The first trailer for the fifth installment of the franchise was an action-packed showcase of the archaeologist’s highly-anticipated return to the big screen. The Super Bowl’s addition to the film’s promotion was a continuation of the celebration.

Indiana Jones 5 Trailer: Watch

Indiana Jones 5 is coming a whopping 15 years after the fourth film in the series. Ford confirmed to audiences of the franchise that it will be his final appearance of the iconic character. He told Variety‘s Marc Malkin last month at the premiere of his new Apple TV+ series, Shrinking, “I always wanted to do it. I wanted to do the rest of the story to see the end of his career.” The film’s musical composer also announced that this feature would be his last, however, he more recently said that he will not be retiring any time soon. The 91-year-old told Variety’s Jon Burlingame in January, “I’ll stick around for a while. I can’t retire from music. A day without music is a mistake.”

James Mangold is the writer and director of the film. He also directed Logan (2017) and Ford vs. Ferrari (2019). The creators of the series, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, directed the franchise’s previous films. Fans do not need to worry, as they are both listed executive producers for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The movie is scheduled for release in theaters on June 30, 2023.
