Young Thug Dives Headfirst Into ‘Punk’ With The Riotous ‘Tick Tock’

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re officially in Young Thug season. The rapper’s last album came in the summer of 2019 with So Much Fun and since then, the rapper teamed with his YSL label for Slime Language 2, joined Chris Brown for Slime & B, and worked with countless other artists on various other songs. However, now it’s time for Young Thug to shine and the new era for the rapper comes with a new sound as well, one that’s easily heard on his new single “Tick Tock.”

The Atlanta rapper’s newest release takes heavy influence from the rock and pop world while keeping his trademark raps intact for what results in a riotous clash of genres. “Tick Tock” is a record Thug originally premiered at Miami’s Rolling Loud festival at the end of July. It’s there that he announced that his next album would arrive in the near future. “Yo so listen,” Thug said onstage. “I’m about to put this album out, right? It’s called Punk. Days later, he would perform the song as well as other new records from Punk during his NPR Tiny Desk. His set, which also featured an appearance from Travis Barker, is where the rapper revealed Punk is set to arive on October 15.

Young Thug first announced Punk during a profile with Fader, and in it, the rapper revealed what listeners can expect on the new project. “It’s most definitely touching music,” he said. “It’s music that the world is going to embrace. […] [Punk] means brave, not self-centered, conscious. Very, very neglected, very misunderstood. Very patient, very authentic.”

Beyonce’s Dad Insists Destiny’s Child Has No Plans To Reunite Despite Recent Rumors

Recently, the Destiny’s Child social media pages made some aesthetic changes, which had fans excitedly theorizing that the trio was planning some sort of reunion, whether that meant new music, some tour dates, or something else. However, now, Mathew Knowles, Beyonce’s father and the group’s manager, has put those rumors to rest.

TMZ reports that Knowles told them that there are currently no plans for Destiny’s Child to reunite, make new music, go on tour or do anything like that. As for the social media updates, those were apparently just some routine changes made be the group’s record label, which Knowles did not requested. Knowles notes, though, that the response to the Destiny’s Child rumors is “great” and shows that there’s demand for a comeback, which is something they will take into account going forward.

This all comes shortly after Beyonce offered an update on her music, saying in an interview, “I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies. Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!”

MSNBC Host Ari Melber Quotes Biggie To Encourage People To Get Vaccinated

If there’s one thing MSNBC host Ari Melber is going to do, it’s force an awkward hip-hop quote in reference to complicated current events and political issues. Whether that’s a good thing or not is up to the viewer, but at least he’s trying to keep things relevant. His latest attempt came this afternoon during a segment on COVID-19 vaccine reluctance, into which Melber injected a quote taken from The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 Life After Death track “What’s Beef?”:

Beef is when your moms ain’t safe up in the streets
Beef is when I see you
Guaranteed to be in ICU

Melber clarifies that while COVID-19 isn’t exactly the same as having a street feud with the 6’2″, 395-pound, Brooklyn-bred rapper, it could conceivably go about as sideways. His point, of course, is that emergency rooms and intensive care units across the country are being overwhelmed with new cases of the vaccine — and that 99% of those cases are people who have not been vaccinated.

https://twitter.com/TheBeatWithAri/status/14284351382207897640

Melber’s quotes have been wide-ranging and deep; in recent months, he’s mined material from the likes of 21 Savage and Nicki Minaj, and while there are definitely plenty of rap fans who could seemingly do without his quotes, the fact that they nearly always go viral ensures that the important information and context he provides receive much-needed exposure.

Check out some of those responses below.

Saweetie And Kendra Jae Ride A Mechanical Bull In Their Fiery ‘Seesaw’ Video

As the world waits for Saweetie’s debut album Pretty B*tch Music to finally be ready for release, the Bay Area raprentreneur is making the most of her existing projects to hold fans over, dropping a sultry video for her and Kendra Jae’s April collaboration “Seesaw.” Although it’s Kendra’s song, it first appeared on Saweetie’s Pretty Summer Playlist Vol. 1 mixtape, which Saweetie released this spring as a placeholder for her album.

The video, which features a cameo appearance from Inglewood-native Dreamville rapper Cozz, sees Kendra lighting furniture on fire as she sits with him on a sofa in a bedazzled bodysuit. Elsewhere in the video, Kendra and Saweetie pose and mug the camera in a plush purple convertible and share a ride on a mechanical bull. There’s also some nifty choreography with Kendra and her dance team on various colored sets.

Although Pretty Summer came out months ago, it’s proven to have some long legs after she released videos for “Baby Mama Coochie” by BbyAfricka and “Risky” featuring Drakeo The Ruler. The unplanned compilation EP has given Saweetie fans plenty to listen to as she prepares to release PBM, which she says is finally ready and deserves to be taken seriously. Hopefully, it’ll be out while her McDonald’s meal is still on the market, proving that the Icy Queen can take advantage of all the synergy she’s been building lately.
