Did André 3000 Play The Flute On Future’s ‘Mask Off’?

André 3000 used to be famous as one-half of Outkast. But after releasing New Blue Sun on Friday, November 17, André 3000 is firmly cemented as a famous flutist. A solo album 17 years in the making, New Blue Sun predictably garnered mostly positive and widespread reaction over the weekend, even though it isn’t the rap album people have been desperately awaiting. Among the reaction was a rumor about whether André 3000 played the flute on Future’s “Mask Off,” arguably as surprising as the strictly instrumental album itself.

On Sunday, November 19, several outlets ran with a comment from Metro Boomin, who produced “Mask Off” for Future’s 2017 self-titled album. OnThinIce on X (formerly known as Twitter) cited a since-deleted post and wrote, “Metro Boomin reveals André 3000 played the flute on the intro of ‘Mask Off’ [flame emoji, flute emoji].” Other users have since added the context, “Metro was joking here. André 3000 did not play the flute on Mask Off. The flute is part of the sample.”

If that weren’t enough, Metro Boomin commented on Complex‘s Instagram post, including a video of Metro saying that Andre played the flute on “Mask Off” before playing the track. Complex aggregated it with the framing that André 3000 did, in fact, play flute on “Mask Off,” but Metro Boomin quickly shut that down in the post’s comment section.

“How are you all even considered a real news outlet?” Metro wrote.

Luckily, to avoid any future confusion, people can turn to eight New Blue Sun tracks if they want to hear André 3000 playing the flute.

New Blue Sun is out now via Epic Records. Find more information here.

Is Snoop Dogg Still Smoking Weed?

That Snoop Dogg is such a rascal. Last week, the West Coast rap godfather (pardon me… “Doggfather”) sent the internet into a frenzy when he posted a graphic on his social media channels promising he was “giving up smoke.” Of course, given that smoking weed is the cornerstone of his personal brand, many assumed it meant he was giving up his favorite activity — possibly for health reasons.

Meanwhile, the shrewder among us suspected the announcement was simply teeing up the launch of another new product or endorsement deal. For one thing, we know that Snoop’s history with quitting the “Devil’s Lettuce” has been sketchy at best, and for another, we’re also aware of his nose for marketing and wicked sense of humor (the use of “smoke” and not “marijuana/cannabis/Mary Jane/pot/grass/reefer/chronic/tree/etc.” was a dead giveaway).

Well, lo and behold, here’s Snoop’s announcement of a new endorsement deal with Solo Stove, a brand of smokeless outdoor fire pits (see? dead giveaway). In the ad below, Snoop demonstrates the use of one of the products (which seem a little goofy to me; the smoke flavor is essential to anything you cook over an outdoor flame!).

So is Snoop Dogg still smoking weed? I guess you can never be 100 percent sure, but it seems likely (he’s probably lighting one up as you read this). Sorry, teetotalers, you lost this round. The only smoke the Dogg has given up is the kind you get from a campfire.

Suge Knight Says Eazy-E’s Widow Fumbled Millions Of Dollars In Poor Dr. Dre Deal

Suge Knight’s recent episode of the Collect Call podcast, which aired on Sunday (November 19), is adding salt to a wound. Moreover, he targeted Eazy-E’s widow for fumbling a deal that the Death Row executive landed with Dr. Dre that would’ve set up the late rapper and his family for generational wealth. By giving up some profits to Suge, Eazy allegedly could get a share of all of the West Coast producer’s earnings, no matter the industry. During his conversation with The Source magazine co-founder Dave Mays, he explained that this was a billion-dollar opportunity given Dre’s continued massive success throughout his career.

“I did a deal for [Eazy],” Suge Knight’s comments on the whole situation began. “He gets a dollar off of anything that Dre does. In other words, [that’s] if he do a movie, if he do a beat, [or] if he promote some type of merchandise. If he do a commercial, if he produce… Off of his part, [Eazy] gets a dollar.” Then, the incarcerated and notorious music figure explained that Eazy-E’s widow, Tomica Woods-Wright, assumed control of his estate after his untimely passing in March of 1995.

Collect Call With Suge Knight: Check Out His Words On Eazy-E’s Widow At 15:34

“Tomica met with Interscope,” Suge Knight further alleged. “Interscope said, ‘Hey, why you want to get a dollar off of everything Dre does? Me and you could do business later on. Sign off and just let Dre out of it. We’re gonna do business later.’ She signed off. They ain’t did no business with that b***h later. And guess what? That f***ed Eazy’s kids, his momma, at the time his father was still living. It’s f***ed his family.” Given how complex and elaborate this deal seems, it’s unclear if we’ll ever really understand the implications of this claim.

In fact, Eazy-E had previously spoken to Arsenio Hall in 1993 about a similar arrangement, which interestingly coincided with his beef with N.W.A. As such, anything Dre did went right back to Eazy. “Basically, I had Dre signed as exclusive producer and an exclusive artist,” he explained. “So when Dre tried to make his deal over at Interscope, I was included for the next six years.” For more news and the latest updates on Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, and the late and great Eazy-E, stay logged into HNHH.

What Does Drake’s New Face Tattoo Mean?

drake

Drake‘s collection of offbeat and personal tattoos is a subject of endless fascination for his fans. From getting his son’s name on his neck to his mother’s initials just under his eye, Drake keeps adding to the set, paying homage to his favorite people, places, and things.

His latest tattoo, according to eagle-eyed fans on social media, is of the word “miskeen,” and it’s just over his right eyebrow. Naturally, those who aren’t familiar with the term might wonder what it means.

“Miskeen” is an Arabic word which means, according to several sources, “poor” or “hopeless.” Its usage in Toronto slang stems from the strong presence of East African cultures in the city, including Ethiopians, Eritreans, and Somalians (it roughly translates to the same use in Amharic, the language of the Habesha people from Ethiopia and Eritrea, hench the above tweet). Modern use has taken this loan word and applied it to mean someone who is not down with street culture (like a mark or buster in Los Angeles). Drake’s tattoo could be a reference to its original use as well; his whole vibe has always been sort of forlorn and heartbroken, and on his recent albums he’s seemed even more so (with a dash of bitterness and spite thrown in).

Whatever Drake means by adding this tattoo to his face, it’ll only add to the endless speculation and discussion of his many inscrutable attributes.

Snoop Dogg Revealed What His Viral ‘Give Up Smoke’ Post Was Really About And Of Course It Wasn’t Quitting Weed

Snoop Dogg Solo Stove

Last week, Snoop Dogg shocked the world with an announcement he shared on social media, writing, “After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time.” The logical first leap to be made there is that the post was Snoop declaring he was giving up weed. After thinking about it for a second, though, it felt more like Snoop was setting up some sort of product rollout or brand partnership (edibles, perhaps?).

Now, we know for certain that it was the latter (albeit not edibles): Today (November 20), Snoop shared an ad for Solo Stove, a smokeless fire pit company. On Instagram, he wrote, “I’m done with smoke. I’m going smokeless with @solostove. #ad.”

The video he shared is a close-up of Snoop that slowly zooms out to reveal he’s sitting in front of a Solo Stove. Meanwhile, he says, “I have an announcement: I’m giving up smoke. I know what you thinkin’: ‘Snoop, smoke is kind of your whole thing!’ But I’m done with it. I’m done with the coughing and my clothes smelling all sticky-icky. I’m going smokeless. Solo Stove fixed fire. They took out the smoke: Clever.”

Per a press release, Snoop, the company’s official “smokesman,” said, “I love a good fire outside, but the smoke was too much. Solo Stove fixed fire and took out the smoke. They changed the game and now I’m excited to spread the love and stay warm with my friends and family.”

Snoop is teaming up with the brand to design a signature line of Snoop Dogg x Solo Stove products. First (and available now for $420, here) is a limited edition bundle that includes a Bonfire Fire Pit designed by Snoop, a fire pit stand, a Snoop bucket hat, and a Snoop x Solo sticker pack.

It remains to be seen if the rappers Snoop Dogg inspired will follow through with giving up weed.

50 Cent Shows No Mercy To Diddy Amid Cassie Allegations

A lot of people aren’t letting Diddy’s lawsuit settlement with Cassie make the claims of sexual assault and physical abuse against him go away easily. The leader of that pack is 50 Cent, whose relentless trolls of him have been commonplace for a long time now. Moreover, he recently posted a meme of the Bad Boy mogul pictured alongside Cassie on Instagram that read: “If I text you this, it means I want my money by tomorrow.” In Fif’s caption of the post itself, published on Monday (November 20), he wrote “I’m not waiting until Monday,” suggesting that he won’t be like Sean Combs and take care of this situation immediately.

Furthermore, this isn’t the first time that he’s taken aim at Diddy for these accusations of abhorrent acts. A few days prior to this social media activity, the G-Unit MC and business titan had some more elaborate thoughts to share on the subject. He didn’t go through everything, but said enough to get his point across. “LOL,” 50 Cent’s IG message began. “He paid that money real quick, should have done that before the sharks saw the blood in the water. And here they come in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 every woman he ever put his hand on.”

Meanwhile, many other stories about Diddy surfaced in the wake of this lawsuit, although most of them brought no proof. Still, it does speak to how much of a reputation he built in the industry, both for good and terrible reasons, supposedly. It’s also been wild to see celebrities give wildly different takes and interpretations on this incident. Most recently, Adam22 had a pretty bizarre reaction to the whole thing, according to DJ Akademiks, that related to his own sexual infamy.

Regardless of all of that, the Queens native almost dealt with some legal trouble of his own as of late, though what he stood accused of was nowhere near as harrowing. He dodged charges in his microphone-throwing case, at least if nothing changes for the rest of the year for which the case will be open. One rises, another falls, but the balance keeps weighing differently every day. For more news and the latest updates on Diddy and 50 Cent, stick around on HNHH.

Diddy Looks Distraught In New Pics After Settling Cassie Lawsuit

Diddy appears stressed out in new photos obtained by Page Six, following his recent lawsuit settlement with Cassie. Paparazzi captured the Bad Boy mogul hiding his face in his hands and pacing around his estate in Miami anxiously on Saturday. Wearing a T-shirt and sweatpants, he sat alongside his chief of staff, Kristina Khorram. At one point, Diddy laid down on a couch after Khorram showed him something on her cellphone.

Cassie sued Diddy for physical, sexual, and mental abuse, last week, but the two reached a settlement just one day later. “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control,” Cassie wrote in a statement. “I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support.” In his own statement, Diddy added: “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”

Despite the settlement, Diddy’s lawyer, Ben Brafman, clarified in a statement that it does not imply guilt on the part of his client. He wrote: “Just so we’re clear, a decision to settle a lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing. Mr. Combs‘ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims. He is happy they got to a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.” The lawsuit had claimed that Diddy “was prone to uncontrollable rage, and frequently beat Ms. Ventura savagely.”
