Trevor Noah Returns As Grammys Host For Fourth Consectutive Year

Former Daily Show host Trevor Noah has been announced as the host of the 2024 Grammys. It will be Noah’s fourth consecutive year hosting the prestigious event. “I think it’s also important to acknowledge something. I’m hosting the Grammys. I’m excited about that, yeah, it’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then experience and comment on it in person while it is happening,” Noah said on his podcast.

SZA leads Grammy nominations with nine, just ahead of Victoria Monét, Serban Ghenea, and Phoebe Bridgers with seven each. Behind them are seven artists, including Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish, with six nominations. Beyonce, who led in both nominations and awards won at this year’s event, received no nominations. The 2024 Grammys are set to take place on February 2.

Grammys Reviewing Diddy Invite

Meanwhile, the 2024 Grammys have already been beset by plenty of drama. Earlier this year, the Recording Academy briefly accepted and then later rejected an AI song for consideration. However, the major controversy has surrounded Diddy’s nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album. “We are taking this matter very seriously and we are in the process of evaluating it with the time and care that it deserves,” the Academy said earlier this week. While it’s unlikely that Diddy’s nomination will be retracted, the Academy may choose to not extend an invitation to the Bad Boy mogul.

It comes after a fourth woman sued Diddy for sexual assault. The anonymous plaintiff claims that Diddy, Havre Pierre, and an unnamed third man gang-raped her when she was 17. Both Diddy and Pierre have denied the claims and demanded that the woman lose her anonymity in the suit. However, it’s yet another suit where Diddy has been directly accused of rape. The third suit filed against him alleged that he filmed himself raping a Syracuse student after drugging her. This remains a developing story and we’ll have any updates as and when they emerge.

Tems Says She Was Receiving Death Threats When It Was Rumored She Was Pregnant With Future’s Baby

In September, Tems found herself in the middle of a strange rumor, which indicated that she was pregnant with Future’s baby. Some thought Tems was trying to hide a baby bump in a paparazzi video, and from there, the rumor mill went to work and eventually spread the idea that Tems and Future had something going on.

Tems ultimately denied the rumor, writing on social media, “In conclusion, you people are all mad!!!” Tems says that while the theory was still active, though, she received some backlash, with some even going as far as to make death threats against her.

During an appearance on the Drive Time Show for The Beat 99.9 FM in her native Lagos yesterday (December 13), Tems said (as HotNewHipHop reports), “I didn’t actually think anybody believed it. I didn’t know it was serious, I didn’t know until I started getting messages, like death threats. Like, ‘How dare you! Of all the people in the world, Future? Really? Really, of all the people?’ And I’ve never even — I’ve never met him in my life. So, it’s crazy.”

Tems, meanwhile, has been getting back to music: She released “Me & U,” her first new song in two years, in October, and followed it earlier this month with “Not An Angel.”

Nicki Minaj Twerks Up A Storm On Kai Cenat’s Stream

Nicki Minaj just released Pink Friday 2 after a five-year album hiatus. Overall, this album has had a bit of a polarizing response. Her biggest fans love it, however, the casual listeners are a bit disappointed. Regardless, this album is set to sell 200K units in the first week. Moreover, it is going to be the top album on the Billboard charts, which is a huge accomplishment. That said, Nicki is feeling good about the album, and she is still coming through with some extra tracks for the hardcore fans.

Last night, Nicki found herself in Kai Cenat’s house for a highly-anticipated stream. Kai has been trying to link up with Nicki for a while. The feeling has been mutual as Nicki has actually shown a lot of love to the streamer. Well, we finally got to see them in a room together, and it was a whole lot of fun. Overall, Nicki got to meet Kai’s mom and sister, while also meeting his friends. Furthermore, they attempted to dance to her track with Lil Uzi Vert, which led to a nice dance lesson. However, Nicki ended up twerking instead.

In the clip above, you can Minaj trying to do the infamous “Just Wanna Rock” dance. While she hits it for a second or two, she then goes into a furious twerk session. It was a cool moment as all of Cenat’s friends seemed to be taken aback by how laid back Nicki was. She was open and honest throughout the evening, and the two had great on-camera chemistry. It was a treat for both Kai and Nicki’s fans. After doing collabs with artists like Offset as well, it seems like Cenat is well on his way to getting even more rappers on his broadcast.

Drake Is Bad At Golf But Still Plays For This One Reason

Drake has always been someone who likes to try new things. Overall, we have seen this on social media, time and time again. Now, he has all the time in the world to engage in past times and other activities. He has vowed to take a break from the rap game, and although he has a tour with J. Cole next year, he still has a nice break. Throughout the past few weeks, he has been in Turks & Caicos, enjoying the sun as the Winter approaches. It has been a nice vacation for him as he cools out in his favorite spot.

As it turns out, Drizzy recently took a page out of the DJ Khaled paybook. In the Instagram post below, you can see that he took to the golf course to enjoy a round of the sport. As many of you already know, golf is a difficult and oftentimes frustrating sport. It can be hard to really break any ground, and for the most part, you can never really be consistent at it. Only the pros are getting consistent scores and hitting the fairway every time. Drake is well-aware of this, and he is very realistic about his skill.

“I’m trash at this sport but the drinks are hitting,” Drake wrote in his caption. Overall, the drinks are a huge reason to play golf. Furthermore, there is a social aspect to it as you usually play with a group of friends. Although you could have a rough round, being around your buddies does make the whole experience more palatable. Hopefully, with each round of golf that he plays, Drizzy gets at least a little bit better. After all, you don’t want to be bad at the sport forever, especially if you hit the links often.

SZA Reveals That She Started Making Music To “Prove A Point” To A Specific Person

Although CTRL put a massive spotlight on her name, the release of S.O.S. transformed her into one of the biggest stars of the year. With several accolades to her name, SZA’s success was a result of years of hard work. However, what truly motivated her was that she had to “prove a point.” During a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, she shared a bit of her mentality when she began pursuing music.

“Some people choose music as a career, and they feel very certain about what they’re doing and why they’re doing it, but I was never quite certain, and I really only did music to prove a point,” she said around 26:19 mark. Zane Lowe pried further into who put that battery in her back to ensure that this path worked for her. “When I started making music, it was to my ex-fiancé because he was paying for everything. My food, my clothes, where I lived, and he was eight years my senior, so I was so co-dependent,” she revealed.

SZA Reflects On Career Beginnings

SZA continued to explain that her ex-fiancé’s success pushed her further into music, which she said she was “randomly good at.” “And he was so talented, and like, he’s a designer — so brilliant. His ex-girlfriends were all lawyers and businesswomen and artists that went to [Rhode Island School Of Design], and all these things, right? And you know, I’m a college dropout. I’m still bartending at the strip club, so it’s giving — like, I felt like a lacked value,” she added. “So, when I started trying to make music, it was this thing that I didn’t have to try at but was randomly good at because I’ve always written poetry and always felt emotional.”

Clearly, she was destined for this success from the jump. From her early days with TDE to her current status as the most nominated artist at the 2024 Grammys, SZA has undoubtedly had a spectacular year. Most recently, she began teasing LANA, the deluxe edition of S.O.S. Although she shared cover art pieces for the deluxe, she has yet to confirm a release date.

Diddy Reality Show Scrapped By Hulu

Diddy+7, a reality show about Diddy and his family, has reportedly been scrapped by Hulu. It becomes the latest Diddy-related project to be shelved after the Bad Boy Records founder was hit with four sexual assault lawsuits over late November and early December. First reported by Rolling Stone, the show’s development was reportedly in “nascent stages” and was not expected to debut until at least Fall 2024. The rapper and his family had been spotted with a camera crew on several occasions back in March of this year.

Furthermore, the Rolling Stone report also noted that 18 brands have cut ties with the mogul and his recently founded Empower Global, which was meant to serve as an e-commerce platform for Black-owned businesses. Additionally, he recently stepped down as chairman of Revolt, the media company he co-founded a decade ago. Meanwhile, the Recording Academy is currently reviewing Diddy’s 2024 Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album.

However, the scrapping of the reality show doesn’t mean there won’t be any Diddy-related media. 50 Cent recently revealed that he is already working on a Surviving R. Kelly-esque documentary about Diddy. “RAPPER ?” he captioned a screenshot of a Page Six story about his upcoming documentary. “I thought Diddy was a Billionaire music mogul, If he’s smart he will file bankruptcy now. Anyone with real money knows why I’m saying this. I’m the best producer for the job guys. Here come the receipts,” Fif wrote on social media. At this time, it’s unknown when and on what platform the documentary will premiere.

Furthermore, Fif announced alongside an early preview of the documentary that all proceeds would be going to charities that help victims of sexual assault. “All G-Unit Film & Television proceeds from this Documentary will go to victims of Sexual Assault and Rape!” Fif proclaimed. The news came after a fourth woman sued Diddy, claiming that he was part of a gang rape she suffered at the age of 17.

2024 Grammy Nominee Trevor Noah Is Also Hosting The Ceremony For His Fourth Consecutive Time

Trevor Noah isn’t a professional musician, but he has had a noteworthy role in the music industry in recent years: Since 2021, he has hosted the Grammy Awards ceremony. He’s done it for the past three years now, and in 2024, he’ll keep the run alive as he hosts the show for a fourth time.

On a new episode of his What Now? With Trevor Noah podcast shared yesterday (December 13), Noah said (as Variety reports), “I think it’s also important to acknowledge something: I’m hosting the Grammys. I’m excited about that, yeah, it’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then experience and comment on it in person while it is happening.”

Worth noting is that in addition to hosting, Noah actually has a nomination this year, too, in the Best Comedy Album category for I Wish You Would. He’s up against Chris Rock’s Selective Outrage, Dave Chappelle’s What’s In A Name?, Sarah Silverman’s Someone You Love, and Wanda Sykes’s I’m An Entertainer.

In a 2022 interview, Noah explained what he likes about hosting the show, saying, “I’m enjoying the fact that we’re juggling flaming swords. […] You develop a deep appreciation for what these people are doing beyond just the music that they make.”

Nicki Minaj and Drake finally reunited on Pink Friday 2. The latest project from New York’s finest hit streaming services on December 8th and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The tracklist boasts 22 songs with Nicki holding down the majority of it on her own. However, Drake and J. Cole’s appearance became highlights once she unveiled the project in its entirety. The former appears on “Needle,” marking another exceptional addition to their collaborative streak together.

On Wednesday (December 13), Nicki Minaj continued her press run for Pink Friday 2 with Kai Cenat. She slid through to the AMP House for an incredibly entertaining stream where they discussed an array of topics. Eventually, Nicki shed some light on her and Drake’s latest collaboration. However, it also doubles as an explanation for her absence on For All The Dogs. “Originally, it was for Drake’s album,” she said, adding that she immediately fell in love with the song and hoped that it would somehow land on Pink Friday 2. “And then what happened was, in the end, Drake – and he was about to turn in For All The Dogs – he sent me two songs… That same day, he also told me, ‘Hey, I’m not using ‘Needle’ for the album ‘cause it doesn’t fit the sonic vibe. Do you want it?’”

Nicki continued to explain that it felt like a perfect collaboration for herself and Drake, one that aligns with the numerous other records that they’ve linked up on in the past. “It just reminds me of all of my Dricki nostalgia. Only Drake can do it and it reminds me for the first time like when we collaborated on ‘Moment 4 Life,’ which was on Pink Friday 1,” Kai chimed in, referring to “Moment For Life” as a “motivational and inspirational” song.

Although Drake confirmed that Nicki Minaj would appear on For All The Dogs, the Barbz certainly felt a type of way when her name wasn’t on the tracklist. Overall, it is very easy to see why this would be the case. After all, Ye has gone on numerous Nazi rants as of late. Furthermore, he has been pushing a lot of Nazi imagery and has even made an album cover inspired by Burzum, a Nazi black metal artist. Ye loves this new aesthetic and he will stop at nothing to push it to his mostly gullible fans.

Just a couple of days ago, a pre-save link made its way to Apple Music. This had a lot of fans convinced that the album was actually going to come out. Ye has a history of delaying projects, and this was some sort of sign that maybe he has changed his ways. However, it appears as though Ye has gone back to teasing the fanbase. In the tweet below, you can see that according to NFR Podcast, the pre-save link to Vultures is now gone. Although there is actually some good news afoot.

It was reported by some Kanye West fan accounts that a Las Vegas Vultures rave was going to take place on Wednesday night. Of course, that would have been last night, and no such footage exists on social media. However, one person asked Yes Julz, who subsequently confirmed that the rave was happening tonight. This means they could be having one final listening party before dropping the album at midnight. Or, they could just be doing one more preview before going back to the drawing board.
