Detective Testifies In XXXTentacion Trial

A detective involved in the investigation into the murder of XXXTentacion has taken the stand in the trial of those accused of killing the South Florida rapper. He says that suspect Dedrick Williams changed his story several times. He also confirmed that the suspect never mentioned Drake, Migos, or any other rap groups as having hired him. The defense previously suggested that Drake may have been involved in the killing.

On the stand, the detective explained that Williams changed his story for a third time after being told that the property had security cameras. In addition to Williams, Michael Boatwright and Trayvon Newsome have also been charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery regarding X’s death. The group faces up to life in prison if convicted.

The Detective’s Testimony

As for Drake’s involvement, the defense cited a tweet from XXXTentacion prior to his death during their opening statements. “Before X died, he said, ‘If anybody kills me, it’s Drake.’ Do you think sitting here years later, any detective has ever asked Drake or anybody like that? No,” attorney Mauricio Padilla said according to Complex. “This is one of the biggest celebrities in the world. Excluding an order from this court, we all know that I will never be able to take his deposition.”

They ended up getting their wish and Drake has a deposition scheduled for February 24. “If deponent Aubrey Drake Graham does not appear to deposition he must appear before this court on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023 at 10 a.m. EST at so [sic] the court can determine why he should not be held in contempt,” the motion reads. Outside of the out of context tweet from X, there’s no other evidence of Drake being involved in his killing.

Fans mostly responded to the detective’s testimony with doubt about Drake’s involvement. “They want tickets to Drake’s concerts so badly,” one wrote on a post from DJ Akademiks. Another added: “They want drake so damn bad. It should be illegal to try and drag a random man into court for a MURDER case and potentially ruin his career or life. It’s so weird.”

Nipsey Hussle’s Killer Eric Holder Sentenced To 60 Years

After years of waiting, Eric Holder has been sentenced for the murder of Nipsey Hussle. The Los Angeles rapper was tragically killed in front of his Marathon Clothing Store in his hometown in 2019. He was quickly praised for his community efforts outside of his music career, and the global response was unlike any other experience in pop culture. Eric Holder was arrested promptly after witnesses named him as the assailant.

Surveillance cameras also captured the incident, implicating Holder in the crime. His defense attorneys argued he suffered from mental illness, but that didn’t hold much water. The anticipation of his sentencing has boiled over. Today (February 22), it was learned Holder received 60 years to life in prison.

Details Of The Sentencing Hearing

Holder was found guilty of first-degree murder, and considering his past legal indiscretions, his sentence didn’t surprise the public. Additionally, KTLA 5 News reports that Holder was found guilty “of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter and two counts of assault with a firearm.” Those charges stemmed from the two other victims during the shooting who survived their injuries.

The outlet further shared that Holder “stared straight ahead throughout the proceedings.” A letter from his father was read in court, and Holder didn’t react when the verdict was handed down. The sentencing was initially delayed because the defense hoped to argue down the first-degree conviction, but it proved futile. Holder’s case wasn’t eligible for death penalty discussions.

Investigators revealed that Nipsey and his killer knew each for some time. They were both members of the Rollin’ 60s gang in Los Angeles and had dreams of becoming the next prominent rapper from the City of Angels. It was suggested that someone referred to Holder as a “snitch,” unleashing his ire that resulted in Nipsey’s slaying. A witness testified during the trial that Nipsey’s death was a tragedy for not only his loved ones but for the community as a whole.

Dwayne Herelle Jr., a former M-1 Global MMA fighter, is currently on trial for the murder of his ex-girlfriend. The woman in question, 24-year-old Irene Torres, was found by officials after Herelle gave them the location of the body, which he hid. The traumatic events that led to her death were divulged by officials last week as the suspect remains behind bars. Her sister states this has been an “unimaginable loss” for their family.

Herelle Jr., 28, had his preliminary hearing in Tennessee on Wednesday, Feb. 15. During this, friends and family of the slain woman were forced to hear the harrowing details of Torres’ demise. Some time after, however, the couple’s union became abusive—physically and emotionally—according to reports. According to her older sister, Reyna Douglas, “Irene spent some of the last months of her young life abused, degraded, terrorized, and fearful.” A month prior to Torres’ death, she and Herelle had broken up—a move Douglas cites as a “brave decision” upon her sister’s return home. Irene was “happy to start her new life with the support of her family.” Torres and Herelle Jr. parted ways on December 29, 2022. Exactly one month later, sadly, the two got into a heated in front of Torres’ family home. It resulted in Herelle Jr. ambushing her from behind and stabbing her an immense 17 times.

According to the details on her GoFundMe page, he then “took Irene’s lifeless body and transported her across the county and dumped her in a plastic bin in his closet.” The former MMA fighter went on to dump her pants and purse behind a local grocery store. Herelle Jr. confessed after being confronted by the woman’s father. Irene Torres fundraiser page has received nearly $20,000 and has since closed. Yesterday (Feb. 19), her sister announced her memorial was held over the weekend. “It is comforting to see how many people loved and cared for Irene and how many lives she touched,” Douglas wrote in an update. Overall, the remaining funds will be donated to a local domestic violence charity on her family’s behalf.

Biggie Wasn’t Killed In A Drive-By, Says Ex-Bodyguard

Diddy’s former bodyguard Gene Deal is sharing his side of the story about his days with the Bad Boy mogul. Deal recently sat down with The Art of Dialogue, and according to him, some Hip Hop History stories have strayed from the truth. In 1997, Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace was murdered in Los Angeles. Despite reports, Deal rejects claims that the rapper was killed in a drive-by shooting.

For decades, it has been stated that both Tupac Shakur and Biggie were victims of drive-by-related incidents. There have been theories about who was responsible for both murders, and while some have pinpointed suspects, no one has officially been charged. Deal also believes Biggie’s killer was lurking outside the Petersen Automotive Museum waiting for the rapper.

“It just hurts because they lie too much,” said Deal. “A lot of that sh*t be lies the way they put it together ’cause they listening to these white boys who wasn’t even there. I don’t want to make this racial, but they take these white boys who wasn’t even there and want to use the stories that they want to tell, which is not the truth.” He also added: “Wasn’t no drive-by. The car was standing there at the corner. The stories they tell is not truthful. And now people are sitting here believing.”

The former bodyguard said he quickly made his way to Biggie’s side to help in any way he could. “Every Biggie movie that you see, they say it’s a drive-by,” Deal continued. “When the witness tells you the car was stood right there at the corner…the car was probably there all night.” Further, “I saw this kid lose his life. This kid died while I was pulling him out of the car,” he said. “I wouldn’t put nobody in my shoes ’cause I don’t feel like they could handle it. If I didn’t have God in my life, if I didn’t have people praying for me, I don’t know if I could have handled it.”

Deal also said he “knew that somebody was going to die that night.” He had a feeling someone “was going to get shot,” and he did “everything in” his power to protect Diddy. “The people that was bodyguarding Big didn’t do everything in their power to stop it from being Big. And that hurts me, even though it wasn’t my principle. Every time you hear his music, every time you see one of these murals on the wall, now they got statues. It’s gon’ hurt until God takes me away from here.”
