Ja Morant Reveals Who He Listens To Before Games

The press conferences held during NBA All-Star weekend led to LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Ja Morant and more being asked some intriguing questions. First, LeBron James was asked about being able to play with his old Cavaliers teammate Kyrie Irving in the All-Star game. “It’s always good to see him. I’m very proud of him. Very proud of the man that he has become in his life right now,” Bron said gracefully. However, if you remember correctly, LeBron appeared to be hugely disappointed recently that his Lakers did not acquire Irving when he was on the trade block, instead letting the Dallas Mavericks snag him. Additionally, Jaylen Brown was in a more sour mood when speaking on how the All-Star game is no longer competitive. “It was just a glorified layup line,” Brown called the game.

In contrast, though, both Pau Gasol and Brown’s Boston teammate Jayson Tatum found ways to honor the late Kobe Bryant. After coaching up his Rising Stars team to a win on Friday (Feb. 17), Paul Gasol talked about his consideration for the Basketball Hall of Fame. He gave all the credit to Kobe. “My name, my number don’t go into those rafters without those championships,” he said. “And we don’t win those championships without Kobe Bryant.” Similarly, Tatum honored Bryant after winning the Kobe Bryant All-Star Game MVP. “Everybody knows how much [Kobe] meant to me,” he said. “My favorite player, my idol. So it’s an honor to take this home.” With all these heavy quotes, though, other players like Ja Morant mostly were only asked softball questions.

Ja Morant’s Tunes

When asked by a reporter what his three favorite artists to listen to before games are, Morant gave an exciting reply. “(NBA) Youngboy, (Lil) Baby, Moneybagg (Yo). And a little bit of that (Pooh) Shiesty brrrrr brrr brrrr.” Mimicking Pooh Shiesty’s famed ad-libs, it’s clear that Morant had to throw in that fourth option in his response. Morant was raised in South Carolina and now lives in Memphis, TN. So, it’s no surprise that every artist he named is from the South. Pooh Shiesty and Moneybagg Yo are both from Memphis, and Youngboy and Baby are from Louisiana and Georgia respectively. It’s easy to see where Ja’s heart lies.

Aside from light-hearted conversations with NBA reporters, Morant has had an otherwise bizarre and eventful start to 2023. January saw a bit of turbulence with him being hit with a lawsuit for fighting a minor in a pickup basketball game. Additionally, his father Tee Morant, and FOX Sports commentator Shannon Sharpe got into a scuffle at a Grizzles-Lakers basketball game. Then in February, Ja was implicated in a situation where his friends were accused of stalking and intimidating employees for the Indiana Pacers. However, this year has still seen him get a new Nike shoe deal and become an NBA All-Star for the second time. So, it seems that Ja is taking the good with the bad.

Rican Da Menace Recruits Moneybagg Yo For Turnt Up “DUMB” Single

Rican Da Menace is relatively new to the rap scene. Still, everything she’s dropped so far proves that she’s a force to be reckoned with. In 2022 she made her mark with “Ain’t Going Back,” and afterward, she showed out on “I Admit It” to close out the year. She’s already shared her first single of 2023, “Uh Ohhh,” and this New Music Friday (February 17), the rising star returned with more.

For her first collaborative effort, the Baltimore baddie linked up with Moneybagg Yo. The two carry their own weight through their respective verses on “DUMB,” a turnt up new tune featuring production from Hitmaka and Tay Keith. Since premiering earlier this weekend, Da Menace has earned upwards of 47K streams on Spotify alone.

“Ran up all these M’s before I’m twenty-five / If it ain’t an AP, ho’, that’s just a waste of time,” the 21-year-old boasts on the first verse. Later on, her guest feature comes through with impressive bars of his own. “Look how I mix the Prada sweater with Bottega slippers / Call me Mr. Put-It-On, certified dripper,” he cheekily raps.

Along with “DUMB” arrives a BenMarc-directed visual in which Rican puts her bank heist skills to the test. Moneybagg also makes an appearance, joining his collaborator to get his rhymes off for the camera while chiefly flexing his impressive jewelry collection. For her last music video, the female artist recruited Chrisean Rock to join her. Working with the Memphis native on this release is certainly a step up, proving that there are no limits to what Da Menace is able to achieve.

Moneybagg Yo Gifts Ari Fletcher A Bentley For Valentine’s, She Returns The Favor

Moneybagg Yo and Ari Fletcher just got hefty Valentine’s Day gifts in the form of a Volkswagen and Bentley, respectively. Moreover, Fletcher posted both impressive cars on social media with a cute message for each. First, she wrote a grateful and boastful tweet showing off her new Bentley. “Pull up to the show room before dinner. Bentley Flying Spur. Thank you.” Then, she posted a picture of Moneybagg and his new Volkswagen on her Instagram story. “I bought him a car too, he love it,” capping the caption off with a laughing emoji. Presumably, she’s laughing at her rap and chef boo‘s funny pose as he laid on his new whip.

While the couple had their fair share of hiccups across its history, the two seem stronger than ever. Furthermore, they recently uploaded a wholesome and cheeky cooking video where they ask each other a variety of tough questions. “Did you really snatch my wig off when we was outside the club in Miami?” Ari asked her man. “Do your kids like me? In your new song, you was like ‘F**k on my h*e, f**k on my b***h.’ Who were you talking about? Do your baby mamas like me?” Moreover, Yo asked her, “Do you remember the first time you said you loved me, and when I told you? You ain’t let me hit until, like Thanksgiving. You made me wait.”

However, the cooking video didn’t come with the surprise factor that they might’ve wanted. The Airbnb owner who rented them the property posted private pictures of the two shooting the video. Furthermore, they used the celebrity couple’s stay to promote the listing and encourage more people to stay, which Ari was not happy with. “If I payed for a air bnb like a regular normal customer, why would you post pictures of me inside your air bnb telling people we was there,” she tweeted. “That’s so unprofessional and I was working on something private. I haven’t been at a air bnb in years and this why cause that s**t ghetto!!!”

“People saying I posted a picture in the house SO!!!” she continued. “I never posted what I was doing or who I was doing it with! That’s s**t they say and watched on the cameras. That’s weird AF!” Hopefully, their Valentine’s Day escapades and celebrations were only theirs to post and promote, and that they enjoyed the big day in private. Regardless, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest on Moneybagg Yo, Ari Fletcher, and your favorite celebrity couples.

Moneybagg Yo & Ari Fletcher Grill Each Other With Questions During Cooking Video

Ari Fletcher and Moneybagg Yo recently asked each other some tough questions during a cooking video the two recorded together. While the couple went through their fair share of hiccups in their history, it was a fun and charming clip. In fact, it seems they’re more committed than ever, as these questions were pretty in-depth. Here are Ari’s inquiries: “Did you really snatch my wig off when we was outside the club in Miami? Do your kids like me? In your new song, you was like ‘F**k on my h*e, f**k on my b***h.’ Who were you talking about? Do your baby mamas like me?”

Moreover, the Memphis rapper had his own set of questions as they cooked what seemed to be some sort of chicken recipe. “Do you remember the first time you said you loved me, and when I told you? You ain’t let me hit until, like Thanksgiving. You made me wait.” Much to be thankful for, indeed. Unfortunately, though, the clip omits each partner’s answers, but Fletcher said the full video will come out soon. After all, Ari has a channel where she posts cooking vids often. In fact, we already knew this video was coming thanks to her blasting an Airbnb owner for promoting it.

Furthermore, Fletcher and Moneybagg filmed the cooking video in an Airbnb, whose owner posted pictures of the couple as they filmed. In fact, it was all to promote the property. “If I payed for a air bnb like a regular normal customer, why would you post pictures of me inside your air bnb telling people we was there,” Ari wrote on Twitter. “That’s so unprofessional and I was working on something private. I haven’t been at a air bnb in years and this why cause that s**t ghetto!!!”

In another tweet, she wrote, “People saying I posted a picture in the house SO!!! I never posted what I was doing or who I was doing it with! That’s s**t they say and watched on the cameras. That’s weird AF!” Whether the Airbnb owner’s gotten more sales or not, they definitely felt the wrath of Ari. Regardless, come back to HNHH for the latest on Moneybagg Yo and Ari Fletcher, and stay tuned for that cooking video.

Moneybagg Yo, GloRilla, And More React To Tyre Nichols’ Death

It’s been nearly two weeks since news broke about Tyre Nichols’ death. The 29-year-old died after succumbing to his injuries after being severely beaten by five Memphis police officers at a traffic stop. Nichols’ death, similar to George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and countless others has enraged the nation, causing many discussions about state violence and the institutional racism embedded in police organizations. Several celebrities, artists, and athletes including, Memphis rappers Moneybagg Yo and GloRilla, have spoken about Nichols’ unjust death. More are sure to follow.

Moneybagg took to social media to offer a message to Nichols’ family and the city of Memphis. “Praying for the family of Tyre Nichols,” the rapper wrote on Instagram. “Also praying for our city. #JusticeForTyre.”

GloRilla, another Memphis native, reposted Moneybagg’s post on her Instagram story before making a post of her own. The “F.N.F” rapper posted a message that read “Justice For Tyre Nichols” with a caption containing a broken heart emoji with several prayer hands.

Ari Lennox shared a post on her Instagram story that read, “Justice for Tyre. Praying for his family and friends and the Memphis community.”

NBA stars like LeBron James and Chris Paul also chimed in with some thoughts about the unfortunate situation. “WE ARE OUR OWN WORSE ENEMY!!!” James tweeted regarding the five officers who attacked Nichols, all of which were Black.

Paul offered a heartfelt message to Nichols’ family and the Memphis community, writing, “Change is needed at all levels, and we all need to do our part.”

“We can’t lose our humanity as a society,” he continued. “To the Nichols family and Memphis community, my heart is with you tonight.”

Since Nichols’ death, the five officers involved have been fired from the Memphis Police Department and are facing impending charges. Footage of the horrific incident was recently released, where Nichols can be seen fleeing from the police before they eventually caught up with him.

Moneybagg Yo Calls For Justice For Tyre Nichols

Moneybagg Yo took to Instagram to send his prayers to Tyre Nichols’ family and call for justice for his passing. Many protested the Memphis Police Department’s cruelty and will likely continue to do so. Moreover, the Memphis rapper shared a message to the Nichols family and to the city via Instagram.

“Praying for the family of Tyre Nichols,” the rapper’s post read. “Also praying for our city. #JusticeForTyre.” Also, he captioned it with the same hashtag and added some emojis, including open hands and praying hands.

Moreover, the police department fired five Memphis police officers from their post following a traffic stop. According to the department’s official statement, a “confrontation” occurred during the stop that caused Nichols to flee. Later, a second “confrontation” took place when authorities caught up to him.

“Our son ran because he was scared for his life,” his stepfather Rodney Wells told reporters. “And when you see the video you’ll see why he was scared for his life.

Furthermore, U.S. President Joe Biden issued a statement on Tyre Nichols’ death.

“Tyre’s family deserves a swift, full, and transparent investigation into his death,” the statement read. “As Americans grieve, the Department of Justice conducts its investigation, and state authorities continue their work, I join Tyre’s family in calling for peaceful protest. Outrage is understandable, but violence is never acceptable. Violence is destructive and against the law. It has no place in peaceful protests seeking justice.”

Also, attorney Ben Crump called footage from the January 7th stop “appalling” in a recent press conference.

“We join Tyre’s family in supporting the Department’s decision to terminate the five officers who brutalized him, ultimately causing his death,” he wrote with fellow attorney Antonio Romanucci. “This is the first step towards achieving justice for Tyre and his family. They must also be held accountable for robbing this man of his life and his son of a father.”

Still, what do you think of Moneybagg Yo’s message of prayers and justice to the family of Tyre Nichols? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, come back to HNHH for the latest updates and tributes regarding this heinous case.

Rest In Peace Tyre Nichols.

Records such as “Come & Get Me,” “In My City,” and “At The Store” with Bankroll Freddy became regional hits.

Though Moneybagg Yo continues to expand the Bread Gang Ent. clique, he’s working towards the release of his forthcoming album. Last week, the rapper teamed up with fellow CMG signee GloRilla for their new collab, “On Wat U On.” Prior to that, he released singles like “Quickie” and “Blow” in anticipation of his follow-up to 2021’s A Gangsta’s Pain.

Moneybagg Yo & GloRilla’s Collab Brings The Heat To Our “Fire Emoji” Playlist

Our first Fire Emoji update of the year began with a new joint from Ice Spice, “In Ha Mood.” This weekend, we’re continuing to show love to our rising female artists. Specifically, we have a shoutout to GloRilla’s new collaboration with Moneybagg Yo – “On Wat U On.”

Both Southern-hailing rappers had an impressive run in 2022. Their latest work proves that the trend will likely continue into the new year. More new music and other projects are on the way from them both.

Another joint track we love comes from 21 Lil Harold and 21 Savage with “Ain’t On None.” The former rapper dropped off his After The Curse album on Friday (January 13). It comes complete with other appearances from Young Nudy, G Herbo, and Nardo Wick.

He certainly had a dramatic week with Big Scarr’s family throwing shade at him on social media. However, that didn’t stop Gucci Mane from bringing the heat. His latest release comes in the form of the Fire Emoji worthy “King Snipe” with Kodak Black.

“I’m that n*gga that smack all the smackers so I am the biggest stepper, five-five,” the Florida native spits on the first verse. “I’m a hot boy, my bitch the coldest, yeah, opposite attract / You got one time to raise your voice in here, then I’ma get the strap.”

Following that comes Armani White and Denzel Curry’s work together on “GOATED.” as well as Swizz Beatz and Jadakiss“Hustle, Repeat” alongside the Godfather of Harlem.

Our final Fire Emoji selection for your weekend streaming comes from ALLBLACK and Curren$y, who dropped off “Pelicans” this Friday.

Further down, you’ll hear previous releases from names like French Montana, Popcaan, NBA YoungBoy, and more.

Stream our weekly Fire Emoji update exclusively on Spotify below. Additionally, make sure to check back on Sunday to find more new music on our R&B Season playlist.
