‘The Equalizer’ Mike Epps Guest Stars in Reunion With Queen Latifah

‘The Equalizer’ Mike Epps Guest Stars in Reunion With Queen Latifah

Mike Epps is teaming up with Queen Latifah to solve a case on the upcoming March 17 episode of The Equalizer. Here’s the rundown: Epps plays J.J., a man who Shadow and Act report is “recovering from his gambling addiction” in the episode entitled ‘All Bets Are Off.’ Even though he’s playing a degenerate gambler, his experiences are what Queen Latifah’s McCall character requires to solve a particular case. This comes as a reunion for both Epps and Latifah since they both starred together in Bessie for HBO. Here’s more insight on the episode from the official synopsis:

“After Dante’s old training partner is taken hostage while working undercover in an illegal casino, McCall hires J.J., a former gambling addict (guest star Mike Epps) to assist with the mission. Meanwhile, Dee joins a peer counseling group, and learns that some students have been bullying her on a social media page.”

So, if you’re a fan of The Equalizer, the procedural show was renewed for Seasons 3 and 4 in 2022. That pretty much means it’s a hit these days. At the time, CBS Entertainment’s senior executive vice president of programming, Thom Sherman, said, “The success of The Equalizer is due to the sum of its parts–an outstanding cast led by the superb Queen Latifah, plus the exceptional creative team that has continued to evolve their storytelling with a compelling mix of everyday justice, family dynamics and real-world issues that connect and resonate with audiences,” he said in the statement.

Mike Epps is known for his hilarious stand-up routines, but at one of his shows, the laughter was muffled by a disturbance in the crowd when a young woman had to be escorted out by security but not before she took a good ribbing from Epps.

Cell phone footage of the show reveals the woman yelling at Epps, “I’m not going nowhere.” When security approached the woman, she told them, “You got my $300? You got my $300? Well, get the f*** on with your gay a**.”

Epps added a little laughter to the situation, telling the crowd, “She like Raven Symone; her little a** is feisty…I know you not about to f*ck my show up right here with your little ghetto a**.”

When a man with her tried to step in, the comedian replied, “So what’s up n***a? Do something then. That n***a ain’t gone do s*** either. We’ll whoop the s*** out of that n***a right there. That’s the n***a you with? We’ll f*** him up.”

Who Is Mike Epps’s Wife, Kyra Robinson?

By now, we’re all aware of legendary comedian, actor, and entertainment legend Mike Epps, for his hilarious inclusions in films such as Next Friday, Friday After Next, The Hangover, and many others. Given that Mike Epps has been a fixture in the comedy world for so long, many fans have begun to wonder, who is Mike Epps’s wife, Kyra Robinson Epps? Epps recently found himself in hot water for comments made on the All The Smoke podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, wherein the comedian joked that he’s never treated a woman properly. These jokes led to a bit of concern for Kyra’s health and well-being, though the comedian later doubled back to apologize to his wife and assure his fans that he was just joking. Here’s everything we know about Kyra Epps, formerly Kyra Robinson.

She Is A Television Producer

Mike Epps didn’t just take any old civilian to be his lovely bride, as his wife is actually part of the television industry. Kyra Epps has IMDb credits on several classic programs, including Just Keke, the BET Social Awards, and Mike Epps: Ready To Sell Out. Clearly, the pair have a very well-integrated relationship, as they can balance working together and living together in harmony. In fact, Mike Epps has quipped in the past that his wife is responsible for helping him formulate more than half of his on-stage material.

Kyra Epps has won multiple Image Awards, and currently works alongside Mike on the HGTV series Buying Back The Block. According to the official HGTV description of the show, “comedian Mike Epps and his wife Kyra have bought several homes on his childhood block in Indianapolis, and their goal is to revitalize the struggling neighborhood and bring back the charm, community and character that Mike valued growing up.”

Before trying her hand at producing for TV, Kyra Epps attended Columbia College intending to become a journalist and even joined NBC’s investigative unit. Her career pivoted once she was hired by Paramount Studios, where she made the connections to launch her programming through Oprah Winfrey’s OWN.

She First Met Mike Epps In 2017

According to a 2019 episode of The View, Mike Epps met his wife Kyra at an airport in the wee hours of the morning. Kyra herself revealed Mike approached her and asked her to dance while she was half asleep, which she found odd but endearing. After dating for two years, Mike and Kyra married in 2019, with a lavish event at The Resort on Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California.

The massive wedding accrued over 200 guests, including famous friends of the couple who flew in by helicopter. Despite the enormous guest list, photos of the wedding are hard to locate, as the couple requested all guests relinquish their cell phones before the event began in the interest of privacy.

Mike & Kyra Share Two Children

Mike Epps and his wife announced the birth of their first child in March of 2020, right as the COVID-19 pandemic first kicked off. Their daughter, Indiana Rose, is Kyra’s first child and Mike’s fifth. As far back as 2016, before he had even met his wife, Mike Epps has expressed that he wants a son. This made Mike and Kyra extremely happy when their second child arrived in October 2021, a boy named Michael. Since then, Mike and Kyra Epps seem to be living the model married life, privately raising their family while working together to bring high quality television entertainment to the masses.

Mase Slams Shannon Sharpe After NFL Legend Calls Him A Fake Pastor

Mase has fired back at Shannon Sharpe following his recent description of the rapper as a “gangster pastor.” The shots between the two came after Mase trolled Sharpe for feuding with Mike Epps. Mase addressed the situation during the latest episode of It Is What It Is.

“Your boy chose to target me about the sets and the working out and all that. He called me a fake pastor and all that. I want to address it,” he told his co-host, Cam’ron. “Listen Shannon, I’m not the one to play with.” From there, he brought up several issues with Sharpe. For one, he mentioned the Club Shay Shay host’s back-and-forth with the father of NBA star Ja Morant. He also further complained about the feud with Epps. “If you are for Black people, this is not the way to carry yourself,” he said at one point. Mase also noted the respectful way Sharpe behaved with Skip Bayless, as compared to other Black voices in media.

Mase continued: “He said I’m a pastor-gangster or something like that. And I would tell him, for your spiritual comment, that was ignorant because if you know anything about faith, all the people that were apostles and pastors, they died horrific deaths, they went to jail, they were hung upside-down. So it’s as gangster as you could be when it talks about doing for others and being tough.” Check out his full response below.

Mike Epps Hits Back At Shannon Sharpe And Gets The Opposite Reaction He Was Hoping For

Recently, Mike Epps went off on Shannon Sharpe for his interviews with Katt Williams and even Mo’Nique. However, the way he went about it, was homophobic and accusatory at the same time. “That n***a Shannon Sharpe called me trying to do an interview. I said ‘no Medea, I ain’t doing no interview with you’ – so you can sit across from me and look at my balls,” Epps said. “The n***a sh*t is called Shay Shay the n*gga is telling you. Put a wig on that motherf*cker and tell me if that ain’t motherf*cking Madea sister.”

Subsequently, Sharpe took to his podcast last night, where he had plenty to say about Epps. Overall, he made sure to let his feelings on the comedian be known. “Mention my name again, and I’m gonna put the DM … and I don’t like doing this. But you’re lying. I don’t care about all that other stuff.  You can say I’m gay … I don’t care about that. ‘Cause I won’t chase a lie. But I won’t let you lie on my name,” Sharpe said. “Say my name again, and I’m gonna release the DM. Because you’re lying. You said I reached out to you to come on Club Shay Shay, and you’re a mofo lie. Now when I see you, I’m gon’ see if you’re about that. I’m gon’ see if you want to say what you been saying, trying to get some jokes because you got mad because Katt Williams did what he did.”

Mike Epps Continues The Feud

Above, you can see Epps’ response to Sharpe’s rant from last night. Epps told Shannon that he could come and see him at the All-Star game. Furthermore, he referred to Sharpe’s podcast as “black on black” crime. Unfortunately for Epps, he did not get the response that he was probably hoping for. Many felt like his comments were hypocritical and that Shannon is in the right. “Mike lied because he wanted to be apart of the conversation soo bad got caught,” one person wrote in TheNeighborhoodTalk comments section. “Mike Epps mad he can’t sit with Shannon sharp that the real tea,” said another.

Shannon Sharpe Rips Mike Epps To Shreds For Spreading Rumor That Shannon Might Be Gay

Shannon Sharpe caught some strays recently from the likes of Mike Epps. Epps was at a comedy show where he brought up Shannon and his infamous Club Shay Shay podcast. Overall, Epps seems upset about the things that have been said about him on the show. None of these words have come from Sharpe himself, however, that did not stop Epps from talking poorly about the NFL legend. Epps even accused Sharpe of being gay.

“That n***a Shannon Sharpe called me trying to do an interview. I said ‘no Medea, I ain’t doing no interview with you’ – so you can sit across from me and look at my balls,” Epps said. “The n***a sh*t is called Shay Shay the n*gga is telling you. Put a wig on that motherf*cker and tell me if that ain’t motherf*cking Madea sister.” Of course, Shannon saw these comments and was not happy about them, at all. During last night’s episode of Nightcap, he went off on Epps. He even threatened to release DMs. Needless to say, he had time.
