Slowly but surely, the live music industry is returning to normal. Artists are announcing tour dates and festivals are planning to go ahead with their 2021 events after canceling or postponing in 2020. Even just today has been big for festival news: Pitchfork Music Festival unveiled a big 2021 lineup this morning, and now so too has Bottlerock.
The Napa, California music, wine, food and brew festival is set to return this year, on the weekend of September 3 to 5. Foo Fighters, Stevie Nicks, and Guns N’ Roses have been tapped to headline the weekend. Elsewhere on the poster, rounding out the lineup are Miley Cyrus, Megan Thee Stallion, G-Eazy, Run The Jewels, Brandi Carlile, Cage The Elephant, Portugal The Man, Young The Giant, Maren Morris, Black Pumas, Future Islands, James Murphy (DJ Set), Jimmy Eat World, Finneas, Polo G, Jack Harlow, Jessie Reyez, Dominic Fike, Chromeo, Mavis Staples, Jon Batiste, Kota The Friend, Village People, Hamilton Leithauser, Joywave, Big Freedia, and Meg Myers, among others.

Now, Meg and Foe are teaming up for a new endeavor: Today, Snapchat announced that Megan will be hosting a new show on the platform called Off Thee Leash With Megan Thee Stallion.
Snapchat describes the show, “With multiple Grammys to her name, including Best New Artist, Megan Thee Stallion commands the charts, popular culture, and now Snapchat! In this new series, she’ll be joined by celebrity friends and their pets hosted in a way that only Megan can.” It is not currently clear when the show is set to premiere.

Music festivals seem like a relic of the ancient past, but slowly but surely, they’re coming back. Now, one of New York City’s biggest events is making a return in 2021, as it was announced today that Governors Ball will be hosting its tenth anniversary event at Citi Field between September 24 and 26. Tickets go on sale on May 6 at noon ET, and ahead of then, the lineup has been shared.
The first day will be headlined by Billie Eilish, while ASAP Rocky and J Balvin will lead the second day and Post Malone will wrap up the final day. The Billboard Music Awards are set to air May 23 and are aimed at honoring today’s most popular artists. The full list of nominees has been revealed and The Weeknd, DaBaby, and Megan Thee Stallion are leading the pack.
The Weeknd, who was notably snubbed for a Grammy nomination this year, holds an impressive 16 BMA nominations, including Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, and Top Streaming Songs Artist. DaBaby follows closely behind with 11 nominations. Country singer Gabby Barrett holds the most nominations for a female artist with nine, but Megan Thee Stallion is right behind her with seven nods.
The Billboard Music Awards also note that while Morgan Wallen appears on their nominations list, they say “his recent conduct does not align with our core values, we will not be including him on the show in any capacity (performing, presenting, accepting).” Their decision to not include Wallen follows a viral video which shows the singer using a racial slur.
This year’s awards are based on the chart period of March 21, 2020 through April 3, 2021. Nominations are decided based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, and social engagement, tracked by Billboard and its data partners.

It’s been a few months since Lil Baby released his fan favorite track “On Me,” but he didn’t stop there. As a special treat for his listeners, Lil Baby tapped Megan Thee Stallion to hop on a remix of his Platinum-certified track. To celebrate the collaboration’s release, the two rappers team up to share an icy video.
The vibrant visual, directed by Mike Ho, positions Megan and Lil Baby as the rulers of an ice kingdom. It opens with the two rappers delivering the track’s lyrics in front of an ice palace. But when it comes time for Megan to launch into her verse, the rapper is suddenly seated atop an erupting volcano, continuing to rap amid the flowing lava.
Megan’s feature on the track arrives on the heels of her announcement that she’ll be taking an indefinite hiatus. Last week, a series of vague social media posts detailed that Megan will be “recharging” as a result of “the demands of the Hot Girl lifestyle.” Her posts also noted that the rapper “has now entered a period of regeneration to prepare for what’s next” and that her management team would be handling all of her social media for the time being.

Megan Thee Stallion got fans excited this afternoon when she updated her profile picture across social media, which prompted speculation that she might be releasing something soon. It turns out, though, that sort of the opposite is happening, as it appears Megan is ready for a break.
The initial photo was a close-up of Meg with her eyes closed and her mouth, nose, and ears covered in some sort of futuristic device. She then shared a digitally animated image of herself in the same device, but this time, she’s in a sci-fi liquid chamber. Meg then shared a third post, which reveals that she is taking a break. A digital readout says, “Megan Thee Stallion is recharging! Due to the demands of the Hot Girl lifestyle <Meg> has now entered a period of regeneration to prepare for what’s next. ….In her absence; mgmt will manage all social posting on behalf of Thee Hot Girl Coach. [[Thee Hotties]] lead a brave //RESISTANCE in anticipation for the return of their Fearless Captain!” On Twitter, Meg also added, “I’ll be back when it’s time [fire emoji].”
Indeed, Megan has been busy lately. She just dropped a new visual for “Movie,” and before that, she dominated the 2021 Grammys, collaborated with Maroon 5, starred in a Calvin Klein campaign, and did too many other things to list here.

Nearly twelve months ago, the world saw another unarmed Black person die in the hands of police. On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was murdered by Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin who kneeled on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes, an incident that was caught on camera by witnesses. It was yet another case of Black lives being slain by law enforcement and while Chauvin would eventually be arrested and charged with second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter, there was heavy doubt that the end result would be a guilty verdict. Well, that doubt was erased when a jury for the trial found him guilty on all charges.

Houston hottie Megan Thee Stallion and Chicago’s son Lil Durk take over the strip club in their new video for “Movie” from Megan’s 2020 debut album, Good News. The concept is rather straightforward; the two rappers perform and throw bills at the dancers while the latter show off their pole skills and twerk amid the piles of money.
“Movie” follows “Cry Baby” with DaBaby, “Body,” and “Don’t Stop” with Young Thug as the fourth single from Good News to get the video treatment. Despite releasing relatively few singles for her debut, Megan has remained visible since its release thanks to collaborations with Ariana Grande (on the “34+35” remix with Doja Cat), Maroon 5 (on “Beautiful Mistakes“), and Bankroll Freddie (on “Pop It“).
Meanwhile, her 2020 collaboration with Cardi B, “WAP,” continues to draw attention as well, prompting over 1,000 FCC complaints from the two rappers’ racy Grammy Awards performance. Megan picked up an award for Best Rap Performance with Beyonce for their remix of Thee Stallion’s 2020 breakout hit “Savage” (becoming the first women to win the award in the process) as well as a Best New Artist award.
