Macklemore Passionately Doubles Down On His “F*** America” Statement

Over this past weekend, Macklemore performed in his hometown of Seattle, Washington for a benefit concert. The Palestine Will Live Forever Festival collected proceeds that will eventually go to Pious Projects, HEAL Palestine, United Nations Relief and Works Agency, and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. If you have been keeping up with him lately, you know that he’s been extremely vocal about the Israel-Palestine conflict. After this he was scheduled to be the headliner at the first ever Neon City Festival, which is going to start in late November in Las Vegas. However, the event organizers have removed him from the roster, thanks to his bold statement at the first festival we mentioned. “F*** America”, he said to the Seattle faithful. It led to some applause at the site but was more controversial online.

Some sports franchises in Seattle have addressed it, with all of them stating how they are going to evaluate the situation. Since making that proclamation, Macklemore was silent. However, he’s recently broken his silence on it on Instagram, according to Billboard. He posted a lengthy and passionate series of paragraphs, essentially apologizing for not being too brash with his delivery. But in that same breath, he’s not too sorry for how he feels about how our country is handling the war in the Middle East. “My thoughts and feelings are not always expressed perfectly or politely. Sometimes I slip up and get caught in the moment. Saturday night was one of those times”, Macklemore starts off.

“Unfortunately, the historic event in my hometown that brought thousands of people together to raise awareness and money for the people of Palestine has become overshadowed by two words”. He goes on to voice how he’s been uncomfortable with the government’s stance, saying, “I have been in utter disbelief with how our government is showing up at this moment in history. I don’t think I’m alone. Some days I don’t know how to love something that is hurting others so much. I don’t think I’m alone”. Macklemore then ends off with, “I’ve slipped in front of the world before. I’m sure I’ll do it again. But they will not silence my voice, and they will not close my heart. I’ve lost endorsements, I’ve lost shows, I’ve lost business ties. I am still here, unwavering in my support for a Free Palestine. I care about humanity and this earth too much to turn back now”.

What are your thoughts on Macklemore defending his “f*** America” statement? Do you think he’s pushing it too much, why or why not? Will his message eventually lead to some sort of change? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Macklemore. Macklemore Explained Why He Said ‘F*ck America’ While Performing At Palestine Will Live Forever

Macklemore has been outspoken about the ongoing Israel-Gaza war since last fall. The diamond-certified musician spoke at a “Free Palestine” rally in Washington, DC last November. This May, Macklemore dropped “Hind’s Hall” to support the pro-Palestine protestors at Columbia University — promising all proceeds would go to The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

Last weekend, Macklemore performed at the Palestine Will Live Forever benefit festival in his hometown Seattle, Washington. During his set, Macklemore said, “F*ck America.” Days later, Neon City Festival announced that Macklemore “will no longer be performing due to unforeseen circumstances” and revealed new headliners. While Neon City did not cite Macklemore’s Palestine Will Live Forever appearance, Macklemore posted a lengthy statement about it on Wednesday, September 25. The statement sprawls across nine slides on Instagram.

“My thoughts and feelings are not always expressed perfectly or politely,” he wrote, in part. “Sometimes, I slip up and get caught in the moment. Saturday night was one of those times. I strive to always lead with love in an effort to bring people together and never create more division. The ‘Palestine Will Live Forever’ festival I performed at was rooted in peace, love, and solidarity. Unfortunately, the historic event in my hometown that brought thousands of people together to raise awareness and money for the people of Palestine has become overshadowed by two words.”

Macklemore continued to express his “grief and anger” due to “the last 11.5 months of watching a genocide unfold in front of us,” which “has been excruciating on a spiritual, emotional, and human level.” He shared his “utter disbelief” at how the US government’s involvement, writing, “I have been disillusioned and disheartened as our government has continued to unequivocally fund and support Israel’s ongoing violence against the people of Palestine. I don’t think I’m alone.”

Macklemore added, “Do not misconstrue the word ‘f*ck’ for the word ‘hate.’ It’s different to be angry than to disown. My ‘f*ck’ — my anger — is rooted not in disdain for where I was born but in anguish for how we can collectively allow this to continue. It is not directed at the people that make up our country, but towards our government who refuse to listen to us.”

Macklemore Swiftly Removed From Neon City Festival Lineup Following Controversial Declaration

Macklemore has always been a fairly controversial rapper throughout his career. But since the Israel-Palestine conflict, which continues to be a major storyline, he’s become even more outspoken. In early May, the Seattle native put out “HIND’S HALL”, a pro-Palestinian track that aimed to draw more attention to something more important than a rap beef. Then, just a few days ago, the Ryan Lewis collaborator dropped of a sequel with a handful of Palestinian American artists, a Gaza native, as well as a LA Palestinian youth choir. This one speaks about resiliency through these troubling times and being there for one another.

On top of hitting the booth and speaking at rallies, Macklemore recently went onstage to perform at a Seattle festival. This event was put together to assist some aid programs such as Pious Projects, HEAL Palestine, United Nations Relief and Works Agency, and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. However, during his time onstage, Macklemore may have gotten a little to bold. One of the audience members got a video of him saying “f*** America”, which produced some cheers and claps, but not from the organizers with the Neon City Festival.

Macklemore Says “F*** America”

According to Pitchfork, he was scheduled to headline it, but that isn’t happening now thanks to his declaration. He has not yet broken his silence since the clip made the rounds online. However, a few local pro sports teams he’s affiliated with have. The Seattle Kraken of the NHL, Seattle Sounders FC, and the Seattle Mariners have made public statements, with all of them essentially looking into how they want to handle the matter. Sadly, for the Neon City Festival, their inaugural show is already receiving some setbacks. It is still slated to begin on November 22 and run through the 24th.

What are your thoughts on Macklemore being taken out of the Neon City Festival lineup for his “f*** America” statement? Do you think it was the right move by the organizers to do this? Do you side with the Seattle rapper’s declaration? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Macklemore Fed Up With Drake Vs. Kendrick Lamar Beef Coverage In Pro-Palestinian Track “HIND’S HALL”

Macklemore has been the butt of a lot of jokes and ridicule over the course of his career. Most of that is from infamously “robbing” Kendrick Lamar of multiple GRAMMY awards at the 56th show. However those criticisms are out the window after the Seattle rapper spoke up in a big way. He dropped “HIND’S HALL,” a pro-Palestinian anthem. It is a form of commentary on the lack of coverage of the tragedies occurring in the Middle East. During the passionate 2:49 track, Macklemore also takes some jabs at Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

What happened to the artist? What d’you got to say? / If I was on a label, you could drop me today
I’d be fine with it ’cause the heart fed my page / I want a ceasefire, f*** a response from Drake (Woo)
.” It is not a direct shot at either artist. Instead, it is him venting his frustrations at how much publicity their bloody feud is getting. However, it could be taken as “why are my fellow artists not speaking out and doing what they can to show support for Palestine?”

Macklemore Doesn’t Want To Hear About Drake & Kendrick

One name who has been heavily criticized for not doing anything during this lengthy travesty is DJ Khaled, especially since his parents are Palestinian. The Weeknd has been one major artist who has done what he could and then some, donating millions of dollars worth of food to aid the Palestinian people. “HIND’S HALL” is currently on Macklemore’s social media platforms. But when it hits streaming, all of the proceeds are doing directly to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine refugees.

What are your thoughts on Macklemore dropping “HIND’S HALL” and calling out Drake and Kendrick Lamar? Does this track come across as corny and as a way to capitalize on the beef, or was this needed? Will either rapper respond, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef, as well as Macklemore and “HIND’S HALL.” Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Macklemore Is Anti-Biden And Pro-Palestine On The Fiery New Song ‘Hind’s Hall’

In case you missed it, for weeks now, there have been pro-Palestine protests at Columbia University, and they have taken over to the point that the school’s main commencement ceremony was just canceled. Macklemore is now showing support for these protestors with a new song, “Hind’s Hall.” The song is titled after the new name protesters have given the school’s Hamilton Hall, in honor of a 6-year-old girl who died in Gaza.

The track starts with a direct backing of the protestors as Macklemore raps, “Yeah, the people, they won’t leave / What is threatening about divesting and wanting peace? / The problem isn’t the protests, it’s what they’re protesting / It goes against what our country is funding.”

He also goes after President Joe Biden, rapping, “The blood is on your hands, Biden, we can see it all / And f*ck no, I’m not voting for you in the fall.”

Macklemore later nods to the ongoing Drake/Kendrick Lamar feud, saying, “What happened to the artist? What do you got to say? / If I was on a label, you could drop me today / I’d be fine with it ’cause the heart fed my page / I want a ceasefire, f*ck a response from Drake.”

This isn’t Macklemore’s first time speaking up about Palestine: At a November 2023 rally, he said, “They told me to be quiet. They told me to do my research, to go back, that it’s too complex to say something, right? To be silent in this moment. In the last three weeks, I’ve gone back, and I’ve done some research. […] I’m teachable. I don’t know enough. But I know enough that this is a genocide.”

Listen to “Hind’s Hall” above.

Macklemore Attacks Joe Biden On Pro-Palestine Song “Hind’s Hall”

Macklemore speaks his mind. The Seattle rapper has been lionized and villainized for discussing controversial topics in his music, but he’s stuck to his guns throughout his career. His latest single, “Hind’s Hall,” is perhaps his most controversial yet. Macklemore champions Palestine over the song’s three verses, and takes political leaders to task for not doing anything to aid its citizens. He goes as far as to call put Joe Biden, and tell him the President that he has “blood” on his hands.

The rapper doesn’t bother with entendres or hidden meanings. He comes out and plainly states how he feels about the current Palestine situation. He also notes the recent wave of student protests. “History been repeating for the last 75,” he raps. “The nakba never ended, the colonizer lied. If students in tents posted on the lawn, occupying the quad is really against the law.” From there, Macklemore criticizes the prioritization of profit over war, and the ways in which those in power benefit from prolonged struggles. “Who gets the right to defend,” he adds. “And who gets the right of resistance has always been about dollars.”

Macklemore Also Throws A Shot At Drake

Macklemore even makes reference to the ongoing Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle. He points out how unimportant the battle is amidst real world conflict. “I want a ceasefire,” he raps aggressively. “F*ck a response from Drake.” The biggest diss, however is reserved for the President. The rapper says that he’s disappointed in Biden’s handling of the Palestine situation, and even the President that he no longer has his vote. “The blood is on your hands, Biden, we can see it all,” he adds. “And f*ck no, I’m not voting for you in the fall.”

What are your thoughts on this new diss, “Hind’s Hall” by Macklemore? Is this is the best song Macklemore has released in years? Do you agree with his message? Do you think his comments about Joe Biden were accurate? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Which Rappers Have Apologized To Kendrick Lamar?

During the headlining performance at his Dreamville Festival, J. Cole rescinded the shots he took at Kendrick Lamar on “7 Minute Drill.” The outro from his latest surprise album responded to Lamar’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” which dissed both Cole and Drake. On “7 Minute Drill,” J. Cole aimed at Kendrick’s discography and minimal output while also expressing hesitation to diss him out of love. His decision to backtrack the bars on his Might Delete Later outro has garnered polarizing reactions from the hip hop community. Social media may be in a frenzy over his public apology, but J. Cole is far from the first rapper to walk back their remarks against Kendrick Lamar. Today, we are revisiting five instances in which rappers have offered an apology to Kendrick Lamar. Take a look at the list below.

Macklemore

After taking home the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2014 for The Heist, Macklemore took to Instagram to reveal a text message he sent to Kendrick Lamar. “You got robbed,” he wrote. “I wanted you to win. You should have. It’s weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was gonna say that during the speech. Then the music started playing during the speech and I froze.” Many saw Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s win over Kendrick Lamar, Drake, JAY-Z, and Kanye West as a major upset for the hip hop community, despite their astronomical success as independent artists. The aftermath of The Heist’s Grammy win resulted in Macklemore’s apology to Kendrick Lamar, advocating that Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City should have won instead.

Jay Electronica

A few years after appearing on Big Sean’s “Control” alongside Kendrick Lamar, Jay Electronica dissed Lamar during a 2016 livestream. “Kendrick is my son, Kendrick is my baby, Kendrick wishes he could be me,” he said. Soon after, Jay Electronica released “#TBE The Curse of Mayweather,” in which he referenced Kendrick Lamar’s 11 Grammy nominations. “He’s got eleven Grammy nominations, y’all not equal / Maaaan f*ck these white people!” he raps. Ab-Soul defended his fellow Black Hippy member, dissing Jay on “RAW (Backwards).” Jay Electronica later issued a public apology to Kendrick Lamar, asking him and Top Dawg to “forgive [his] past transgressions.”

Lupe Fiasco

Lupe Fiasco has expressed his gripes with Kendrick Lamar on several occasions. He once said he does not regard Lamar as a top-tier lyricist, favoring rappers like King Los and Logic. “[Kendrick’s] overall lyrics are good, his stories phenomenal, but punchline entendre lyrically I don’t see it,” he said. In 2018, Lupe took to Twitter to voice his suspicions about Kendrick potentially copying his album cover. “Even I admit this is a little too close for comfort,” he captioned a side-by-side image of Kendrick and SZA’s “All the Stars” and the initial artwork for DROGAS WAVE. Lupe continued, “No matter how far you go… you will reflect me,” pointing out similarities between their album covers, reversed tracklists, and ninja-themed aesthetics.

Fiasco later backtracked his views, writing, “I apologize for even engaging and talking about n****s’ careers. I’ll never do that sh*t again.” This 2018 statement recently made headlines in light of J. Cole’s apology to Kendrick Lamar. Earlier this week, Lupe Fiasco clarified his remarks on Twitter, writing, “I wasn’t apologizing to him lol…I was sorry about the entire shindig because it was such a waste of time and energy in something that actually had nothing to do with me.” Despite his sentiment, Lupe also voiced that he “fears no rapper of any kind or on any time,” indicating that he is not ducking any smoke from any artist.

French Montana

In 2020, French Montana started a Twitter debate that he has more hits than Kendrick Lamar. He wrote, “If we just talking about anthems, me vs Kendrick hit for hit ! I believe I can go neck to neck!!” Doubling down on his declaration, he continued, “I love Kendrick! that’s not just for Kendrick that’s to anybody they put in front of me.” Young Thug even got involved in the conversation, sparking a Twitter debate. French Montana later retracted his statement, apologizing to Kendrick Lamar on Instagram Live. He said, “I want to do the positive thing here and stay out the way of trouble ‘cause at the end of the day, me, Thug and Kendrick [are] three different artists.”

Big Sean

Even after appearing together on songs like “Control” and “Holy Key,” Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar began their long history of subliminal exchanges. Sean allegedly dissed Kendrick on “No More Interviews,” leading many to believe that Lamar’s alleged shots on “The Heart Part IV” were targeted at Sean. In 2020, however, Big Sean revealed in his song “Deep Reverence” that he and Kendrick buried the hatchet. He raps, “I reached out to Kendrick, it wasn’t even no real issues there to begin with / Lack of communication and wrong information from people fueled by their ego, it’s like mixin’ flames with diesel.” The two reportedly remain friendly, though Kendrick Lamar’s outshining of Big Sean’s latest releases prompted more supposed shots

Macklemore Delivered A Stern Speech At The Pro-Palestine Rally Held In Washington, DC

Macklemore became popular in the early 2010s thanks to his feeling-good and light-hearted breakout single “Thrift Shop.” Since then, the rapper’s discography has broadened to address several social issues, such as substance abuse. In the years since, he’s kept his artistry intertwined with political discourse, tackling issues like the election of former President Donald Trump, marriage equality, the opioid crisis, and police brutality.

On Saturday, November 4, Macklemore showed his support for the growing Free Palestine movement, delivering a speech at the pro-Palestine rally in Washington, D.C. You can read what he said below.

First and foremost, this is absolutely beautiful to observe today. I didn’t expect to be on a microphone. There are thousands of people here more qualified to speak on the issue of a free Palestine than myself. But I will say this. They told me to be quiet. They told me to do my research, to go back, that it’s too complex to say something, right? To be silent in this moment. In the last three weeks, I’ve gone back, and I’ve done some research … I’m teachable. I don’t know enough. But I know enough that this is a genocide.

Macklemore isn’t the only musician to speak up about the ongoing conflict between the Israeli military and Hamas forces. In a petition directed at President Joe Biden, Cat Powers, Clairo, Kaytranda, Kehlani, Jennifer Lopez, Majid Jordan, Snoh Aalegra, Vic Mensa, Victoria Monét, and more urged the president to demand an immediate cease-fire.
