Rick Ross is introducing Lionel Messi to Miami in a fashion only The Biggest Boss can do. Fresh off copping a Star Island mansion, Ross pulled up to a Mesi billboard with a special message.
“On behalf of Miami 305, the whole city, Leo Messi, we welcome you!” Ross said. “The biggest boss, Ricky Rozay, the most beautiful city, the greatest city in the world, we welcome the greatest player for the greatest moments, the greatest memories.”
On June 7, Lionel Messi announced that he would be signing with the MLS’ Inter Miami. It came as a shock to many pundits, many of whom expected Messi to sign with Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia or Barcelona of Spain. “I have made the decision that I am going to Miami. I still don’t have it agreed upon 100 percent and a few things are needed, but, well, we decided to continue my path there,” Messi said. “After winning the World Cup and not being able to return to Barcelona, it was my turn to go to the league of the United States to live football in another way and to enjoy the day-to-day more. Obviously, with the same responsibility and desire to play well and do things well as always. But in a calmer way.”
Messi immediately becomes the biggest signing in the history of the MLS. Furthermore, Messi could make his debut as soon as next month, as his contract with PSG expires at the end of June. However, it’s unclear how much an impact of Messi will have. Inter Miami are currently in last place in the Eastern Conference. At the time of writing, Inter Miami has 15 points from 16 games. Furthermore, they are on a five-game losing streak.
As the news broke, non-soccer fans took to Twitter to look for an explanation for the wider implications and context. Many of the people asking were NBA fans, likely unaware of the stature of the MLS. This led to one phrase being repeated over and over – “Lebron James joining the Shanghai Sharks.”

Three primary candidates stood out as Messi’s next destination. First, there was the possibility of a return to Barcelona, where Messi played between 2003 and 2021. According to a report from ESPN, Lionel Messi has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. Al-Hilal is the biggest and most successful club in Saudi Arabia. They have won a record 18 league titles, including a three-peat in the last three seasons. Al-Hilal has also won the Asian Champions League a record four times. In 2022, they also finished runners-up in the Club World Cup, falling 5-3 to Real Madrid in the Final. They are currently managed by former Argentinian international Ramón Díaz.
The most intriguing aspect of the potential Messi move is who Al-Hilal’s rivals are. Al-Hilal has an inter-city rivalry with Al-Nassr, the side that Cristiano Ronaldo joined in 2022. Messi and Ronaldo have faced off 36 times in their club careers, most notably as domestic rivals during Ronaldo’s stint with Real Madrid. If Messi were to join Al-Hilal, it would not only reignite their head-to-head rivalry but also make the Saudi league must-see soccer. Following his big win, Messi took to Instagram to celebrate. After a couple of days, the post reached a whopping 62 million likes. Consequently, he now has the most-liked Instagram post of all time. This surpasses the infamous egg which had 56 million likes.

Throughout the World Cup, Messi received a ton of support from his wife Antonella, and their three kids. Antonella was a fixture at every single match as she could be seen with a nervous demeanor. You could tell this meant a lot to her, and her reactions said it all.
However, Antonella had every reason to celebrate on Sunday. In numerous pictures, Messi’s longtime partner could be seen with their three kids, enjoying every single moment of the win. Overall, it was a huge moment for the Messi family, and they will always remember this moment.

Just like the rest of us, Stephen A. was watching the World Cup Final yesterday. If you paid any attention to the game, you would know it was probably the best final ever played. Regardless of the sport, this was an incredible display of superstar talent that had us on the edge of our seats.
Overall, if you didn’t like the final, it’s because you were rooting for France. For neutral observers, this was simply a treat. People will be raving about this final for years to come, and with good reason. Stephen A. Smith will be one of those people, as he was stunned by what he was watching.

On today’s episode of First Take, Smith got to speak on the World Cup Final, and just how amazing it was to witness. Typically, Smith isn’t much of a soccer fan. His interests skew towards sports like basketball, football, and occasionally baseball and boxing. However, he couldn’t help but praise the most recent display of soccer excellence.
In the clip below, Smith breaks down how this World Cup was special because it had two superstars going at it. Lionel Messi scored two goals to lead his team to a victory, while Kylian Mbappe scored a hat trick, despite the loss. Stephen A. felt like it was this superstar vs. superstar showdown that made the game so compelling.

World Cup Celebration
This victory is Messi’s first at the World Cup. Quite frankly, many fans felt like he needed this win in order to grab GOAT status from Ronaldo. At this point, it is hard to argue against Messi. Following his big win, however, he did take to Instagram where he offered a message to his fellow Argentinians.

Lionel Messi Goes Off
During today’s game, Messi scored the opening goal which came on a penalty kick. Later in the match, Messi helped set up Julian Alvarez for the team’s third goal. Overall, he was just fantastic, and he has been showing himself to be on a mission for that title.
Back in 2014, Messi and his Argentinian side made it to the Finals of the World Cup in Brazil. However, they ultimately lost to a strong German squad in extra time. Now, Messi will have an opportunity to avenge this result as he will either take on Morocco or France on Sunday.
How is it even conceivable that there is a footballer who is currently better than Lionel Messi in the world? How are you possibly thinking that? Messi made Gvardiol look like an average 2nd division-caliber of player today
For his efforts, Messi was able to win man of the match for the fourth time this tournament. That is another massive accomplishment for the Argentinian star, and we cannot wait to see what he has in store for the Final.
