Latto’s Atlanta United Appearance Gets The Crowd Riled Up

Atlanta United absolutely destroyed a Messi-less Inter Miami 5-2 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. However, the result was quickly forgotten thanks to the home team’s guest of honor. Latto was in Atlanta for the star-studded matchup. The Columbus rapper was dressed in an Atlanta jersey and Daisy Dukes and hyped up the raucous crowd of diehard fans. She led the fans in various chants throughout the game. Her presence appeared to really get the crowd going.

With the win, Atlanta United solidified their position in the MLS Eastern Conference. They currently have 45 points and hold sixth position, with a seventh overall position in the Supporters Cup standings. Meanwhile, the loss ended Miami’s hot start to their Messi era. The team has won three of their last four games and rocketed up the standings. However, with Messi sidelined amid some somewhat concerning availability issues, Miami were thoroughly beaten.

Latto Beefs With Coi Leray…Again

Meanwhile, away from Atlanta, Latto had some Boston beef. On the “Peaches & Eggplants” remix, Latto dropped a bar about former journalist and music industry icon Benzino (“give me that neck like Benzino, give me that neck like, ‘where it go?’”). Given that Benzino is Coi Leray’s father, Leray took it as another slight in their ongoing beef. “If you need to go viral, just mention my name. It works every time [kissing emojis]. enjoy !” Leray wrote on Twitter. The two rappers have been beefing on and off over the year.

Meanwhile, Leray and her father bonded over the beef. Their relationship has been rocky over the years but this appeared to be a bonding moment for them. “She admires u. They all do. Just stay focused,” Benzino told his daughter. Furthermore, he added that he has “the most famous neck on Earth.” Leray was quick to note how these things keep bringing them together. “I love how these lil stupid situations bring us together haha on positive note! Messi joined Inter Miami, earlier this year, agreeing to a massive two-and-a-half-year contract that is “worth up to $150 million total from his salary, signing bonus, and equity in the team,” according to Sportico. Messi will also take home a cut of revenue from new subscribers to Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass streaming service. He is also expected to exercise his ownership stake in the franchise after he is done playing with the team.

“Before anything, I want to give thanks to Miami for this reception and the kindness since I arrived to the city,” Messi said in Spanish after joining the team. “To be honest, I’m very emotional and very happy to be here in Miami and to be with you. I don’t have a doubt that we’ll enjoy it and we’ll have a good time and beautiful things will happen.” The MLS season will pick back up, later this month. Lionel Messi Becomes Inter Miami’s Leading Scorer After Just Six Games

It’s safe to say that Lionel Messi has had a fantastic start to his career with Inter Miami. After joining on a free transfer from French giants PSG, Messi got right to work in the in-season Leagues Cup tournament. Granted, not every team from the MLS and Liga MX is playing their starting XI, but that doesn’t take away from just how dominant Messi has been. Inter Miami are now in the final of the competition, where they will face Nashville FC on August 19. Meanwhile, Messi has scored in all six games Miami has played in the tournament so far.

However, the impressive nature of the six-game scoring streak goes beyond the Argentine’s ability to find the net. Prior to Messi’s arrival in Miami, the team was the worst side in the MLS. When they eventually resume league play, Messi will be joining a side that has just five wins on the season and hasn’t won in the league since mid-May. That included a chronic inability to find the back of the net. Before the Leagues Cup began, Miami’s leading scorer was Josef Martínez, who joined the team after a stellar career in Atlanta. Martínez had six goals. Six games later and Messi is now the team’s joint top scorer alongside Martínez with nine goals.

Messi Scores Nine Times In Six Matches

Last season at PSG, Messi had 21 goals in 41 appearances. Now, despite literally having already played 41 games in the last 13 months or so, Messi already has nine goals in six matches. He scored an injury-time winner in his debut, added two against Atlanta, had another brace against Orlando, a third consecutive pair of goals against Dallas, and then on goal apiece against Charlotte and Philadelphia. At some point, Messi will likely stop scoring. As mentioned, he is now on appearance #48 since the start of the 2022-23 season back in August 2022. Given when he joined Miami and the fact he won a World Cup in December, the man hasn’t taken a prolonged break since the end of the 2021-22 season.

But his ability to absolutely dissect North American teams means that he has rocketed up the scoring charts. As mentioned, he now jointly leads Inter Miami. When the MLS restarts, the currently leading scorer is Harry Mukhtar of Nashville, who has 13. But Messi has fundamentally redefined dominance in the MLS. While Messi is already in a league of his in terms of playing ability, the US league has simply never seen a player like him. The league’s all-time top scorer, Chris Wondolowski, netted 171 goals in a 16-year career. Messi debuted a year before Wondo and has played beyond his 2021 retirement. The Argentine superstar has 724 career goals. The MLS may never be the same again.

Lionel Messi Reportedly Joining Inter Miami

The future of soccer superstar Lionel Messi has been the subject of much debate in recent months. Despite joining French giants PSG in 2021, Messi has never seemed to feel at home in Ligue 1. Despite winning the league in his first season, Messi appeared unhappy with his performance and vowed to improve. While the 2022/23 campaign brought another league title, things were falling apart behind the scenes.

Messi appeared unhappy at the club and that began to boil over into public view during and after the World Cup. First, there was Argentina’s shock World Cup loss to Saudi Arabia. People were quick to note that Messi is a very vocal brand ambassador for Saudi Arabia. However, the straw that broke the camel was an unsanctioned in-season trip Messi took to the nation. Messi was officially released on June 3.

Messi To Choose Inter Miami

Three primary candidates stood out as Messi’s next destination. First, there was the possibility of a return to Barcelona, where Messi played between 2003 and 2021. Then there was a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, which would see Messi follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. Finally, there were reports that Messi could be joining Inter Miami, the Florida-based team owned by David Beckham.

Al Hilal appeared to be the frontrunner after making an initial offer to Messi in April. Various numbers were floated, with some going as high as $436 million a year. Elsewhere, a Barcelona reunion seemed unlikely due to the club’s mounting financial problems. However, a new report suggests that Inter Miami is now the likely destination for Messi. the BBC first reported the news but at this time Inter Miami has declined comment.
