Lil Yachty has been everywhere lately, collaborating with both major stars like Drake and J. Cole and rising stars like JID and Nemzzz. Now, he’s taking yet another step in furthering his rap dominance, announcing the launch of his new label, Concrete Rekordz. The label is named after his crew, Concrete Boys, who also comprise the roster, and is backed by the label that originally signed Yachty, Quality Control Music.
An additional wrinkle is that Quality Control is now owned by HYBE America, the stateside arm of the Korean entertainment company responsible for the success of K-pop groups like BTS, New Jeans, Seventeen, and Tomorrow X Together. In other words, there’s some serious muscle behind Concrete Rekordz, which accompanied the launch with the release of their new video for “Family Business.”
In a press release, Quality Control COO “Coach K” Lee said, “Yachty has always had profound vision since the day we met and to see him take his curatorial magic and expand it to discover and enhance other artists is exciting to me.” Meanwhile, his co-founder, QC CEO Pierre “P” Thomas, said, “I’m excited to see Yachty step into the role of executive alongside being one of the most formidable creatives in the world with such an eye for talent. Karrahbooo is a star and they are all going to be the new wave of cool that can bring something different to the culture that is so badly needed.”

Quick riser Lil Dann is a name to pay attention to in the Atlanta rap scene. The Georgia native has not been around for long, only releasing several singles since 2020. By far, the most popular song he has right now is “Family Freestyle” with Lil Baby (his cousin). It was the second of three releases in 2023 and it has catapulted him to more notoriety. The song has already racked up over 12 million streams on Spotify and for good reason. Today, Lil Dann is looking to ramp things up even more for himself with a new single “WIPED” with a star-studded cast that includes Lil Yachty.
This may be Dann’s biggest get as Lil Boat is at the top of his creative game right now. He has been working with artists of all kinds from a range of genres and popularity levels. Another reason why we feel this is the biggest moment so far in Lil Dann’s career is who is handling the production. Working on Dying, as well as BNYX, are bringing their trademark sound for a futuristic cut.
Even more exciting for Lil Dann is that this track is teasing his first-ever project. According to the press release it will be titled Scared To Be Great. At this moment in time, we do not have any other information on the debut album. However, if you want to stay tapped in with Lil Dann, be sure to check back with us for any updates. Be sure to run up the crazy banger “WIPED” above.

Up-and-coming UK rapper Nemzzz has been gaining popularity for his musical projects. His most recent track “It’s Us,” features none other than Lil Yachty. While this has served to boost his popularity, Nemzzz’s music has gone viral in the past. Moreover, he’s earned a co-sign from Drake. He’s steadily on the rise, garnering more attention for his relatable bars and catchy rap tracks. Although he’s quite the private figure, here’s what we know about Nemzzz so far.
Nemiah Simms, professionally recognized as Nemzzz, hails as a British rapper originating from Manchester, and raised in Gorton. The burgeoning talent has showcased great promise as a rapper and singer. Within his family, musical roots run deep- his mother honed her skills as a beatmaker, while his father was a reggae and bashment vocalist. While growing up in the infamous Gorton area, Nemzzz was exposed to various things that could have affected his life negatively. Speaking to Complex UK, he opened up about why living in Gorton influenced his decision to become a rapper.
“I’ve seen a lot of bad things happen in and to Gorton,” he said. “So for me, it’s motivated me to get out of that environment and just be different and set an example for other people who are lost on their way, trying to get somewhere and make something of their life too. Coming from that tough environment gave me some type of beast mode and hunger to change my life.”
The 19-year-old rapper has always been around music. At age 6, he rapped over a reggae song his father made and immediately fell in love with the idea of being a musician, as well. Although the light was ignited then, Nemzzz didn’t believe in his dream until he was 13 years old. Soon after, he began practicing rapping with YouTube instrumentals. In the same interview with Complex UK, he spoke about the influences that shaped his musical journey.
“My family has always made music, so I was always around it growing up. But one day, I saw my dad doing music in the studio, and I was like, ‘You know what? Let me try a thing, too.’ I tried making a tune, and it wasn’t all that, but it gave me a buzz. I must have played it for one of my friends and he thought it was hard, even though I thought it wasn’t.”
Nemzzz made his debut in November 2021 with the smash hit “Elevate,” which took TikTok by storm and propelled him to amass over 54 million streams on Spotify. The track also received a music video from the British music outlet GRM Daily. Since his explosive breakthrough, he has become a household name among other UK music critics. With the massive success of “Elevate,” Nemzzz followed up with the release of “2Ms” in February 2022. The track was also immensely successful, gaining popularity across various listening and social media platforms.
Continued Success
By November 2022, Nemzzz collaborated with Stay Flee Get Lizzy and Knucks on the track “No Refunds.” Following this, he continued to release more singles including “LSW.” Come May 2023, Nemzzz released his first EP, titled Nemzzz Type Beat, which housed eight songs. Across the EP’s eight tracks, the rising artist took listeners on a voyage through his evolving musical landscapes, showcasing boundless versatility. He also proved his unmatched artistry and seamless mastery of the beat. Five months later, he dropped “Money and Vibes,” which was the lead single from his debut mixtape. This was swiftly followed by “8AM In Manny” released in November, which earned him praise from none other than Drake himself.
December 2023 saw the release of “Therapy,” adding to his growing repertoire. February 2024 brought the announcement of his mixtape Do Not Disturb, alongside the release of the single “L’s.” The momentum continued with the release of “PTSD” later that month. On March 15, 2024, Do Not Disturb was released, boasting features from Luciano and JayG. Just three days later, a deluxe edition was unveiled, featuring additional collaborations with K-Trap, Headie One, and Lil Yachty.
The impact of the mixtape was immediate, with Do Not Disturb debuting at number 17 on the UK Albums Chart. It also secured the number one spot on the UK R&B Albums Chart. Altogether, Nemzzz’s journey has been short, but effective. Between his collaborative efforts to solo releases, A-list co-signs, and a successful mixtape launch, it’s pretty clear the UK rapper has greater things incoming.
I have long harbored an uncomfirmed belief that Lil Yachty internalized all the criticism he received at the beginning of his career and has been quietly getting private vengeance on all the old heads who used to pick on him for subverting their expectations of rap as a genre.
In any case, he seems to have been on a mission the past few years to prove that he can dominate practically any subgenre of rap while lyrically hanging with luminaries like Drake and J. Cole.
The next subgenre on his hitlist is UK drill. “It’s Us” with rising star Nemzzz crosses that one off his checklist, while also highlighting his recent goal of using his platform to give younger artists the support his elders never gave him. Yachty certainly seems to be deadset on giving a leg up, collaborating with Gus Dapperton on Lyrical Lemonade’s recent album and lending his pen to relative unknowns like DONTKALLMELUXXY — all while continuing to push the boundaries of being considered just a “hip-hop” artist by teaming up with Faye Webster, James Blake, and Fred Again..
Nemzzz, meanwhile, just got one of his biggest co-signs yet after releasing his mixtapeDo Not Disturb last week. The 17-year-old Briton’s star continues to rise stateside after solidifying himself as one to watch back home.

Young rapper NEMZZZ has had a few viral moments dating back to 2021. That included a viral hit on TikTok in 2021 and his “NEMZZZ Type Beat” last year. Earlier this month, he released his long-awaited debut album DO NOT DISTURB. It arrived on the back of his singles like “MONEY AND VIBES” and “L’s.” But it didn’t take him long to release even more material. Less than a week after the album dropped he shared a deluxe version that added four new songs.
It didn’t take long for fans to hone in on the breakout track of the deluxe edition. NEMZZZ grabbed Lil Yachty for an impressive crossover on the song “ITS US.” While the track is short, it’s absolutely packed full of personality. It has a beat that combines hard-hitting drums and glistening keys that suits both Yachty’s singing and Nemz’ rapping. They also released a music video for the new song which is simple but effective. It’s racked up more than 200k views on Youtube in just a few days since it was dropped. Check out the music video and new song below.
What do you think of NEMZZ and Lil Yachty’s new song “ITS US?” Have you heard the rapper’s debut album DO NOT DISTURB yet? Let us know in the comment section below.
Quotable Lyrics: See me now and they act up, back then, you wouldn’t look my way Blew a little bag today, relax, bae, it’s just ten K The labels know they need me, when I smile, you see the VVs My bro just got that CC, I just put her in CC
With music, everyone knows it is a subjective art form. People are going to have differing opinions on artists and that is what makes it such an interesting thing to discuss. For example, not everyone is going to think that Lil Yachty has been evolving as an artist. At the end of the day that is okay. The reason we bring this up is because the Georgia multi-talent has recently previewed a new track on Instagram. Lil Yachty appears to be interpolating the 1997 R&B record “Swing My Way” by K.P. and Envyi.
This teaser has been collecting some iffy reactions from fans in DJ Akademiks comment section. One person writes, “His longevity of mid needs to be studied.” Another even says Lil Yachty is trying to copy Veeze’s style, “ngl dis a waste of this beat n sample n****s think they can sound lazy on every beat like they veeze.” However, as expected fans in Lil Boat’s post about “Swing My Way” were more favorable.
He asked fans, “swing my way.. should I drop this?¿” They reacted with glee, saying things like, Since Poland bro been allergic to missing ” One person loves it, but encourages him to wait for the seasons to change. “Summer anthem potential fr fr u should sit on it until it’s a little warmer out.” With the hotter months right around the corner, this could be a smart move. Only time will tell, but this could be another feather in Boat’s cap.
What are your thoughts on Lil Yachty’s upcoming new track “Swing My Way?” Is this another hit for him, or a snoozer? Can you think of anyone who is on a better run right now? When do you think he should drop this and why? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. But it looks like Wizkid no longer wants to be tethered to the genre. After a clip from his 2023 interview with Apple Music resurfaced, the “Money & Love” musician doubled down on his older statements.
In another posted screenshot by ThatGrapeJuice, he went on to clarify his initial statement. “Listen, am I African? Yes,” he wrote. “But I do make all sorts of music. I don’t want to be labeled just Afrobeats. That’s like saying every American artist makes rap.”
Lil Yachty made a similar point when he began to explore rock via his album Let’s Start Here. Still, users online weren’t pleased with Wizkid’s statement. View the mixed response from users online below.
Outsiders : you cannot box Burna Boy into just afrobeats… He does so many genres effortlessly
Nigerians… He should shut up.. Let’s see how long he can go alone
Afrobeat una…wizkid isn’t afrobeat artist he does every sound…he have done countless genres and even most of his albums speak for him…he have won countless awards in different genre is music category and also charted songs there. pic.twitter.com/InYimdAKXl
No bro you are getting it wrong again. Remove the “afro” whatever… wizkid is pop/r&b, burna is rap/reggae pop… We simply just call these guys afrobeat cos they are Africans, they just want it to stop. We even call Blaqbonez afrobeat artiste even tho blud does rap. https://t.co/13WhkjAX0o
Nothing wrong with what Wizkid is trying to drive home. It doesn’t make sense that every artiste is boxed under Afrobeat. Especially if you’re versatile with your craft. If you have the range to try something new it’s okay to leave the umbrella of Afrobeat and create your sound.
Fred Again.. teamed up with Lil Yachty and Overmono to treat fans with the new single, “Stayinit.” This marks Fred Again..’s first new song of the year, building off the success he found in 2023 with tracks like “Leavemealone” with Baby Keem and “Adore U” with Obongjayar. It also continues his USB series, according to NME.
“I know you / Down with the pain, see the rain / Realize everybody won’t be perfect / But I do / Try hard to fix the mistakes that I made with you,” Lil Yachty points out in the emotional lyrics, seemingly inspiring the track’s title, as he takes the perspective of hoping the other person stays in the relationship — mistakes and all.
Instrumentally, it opens with a chill electronic production that transforms Yachty’s voice. It then builds in intensity on the “stay in it” chorus, when Yachty’s vocals cut out and are replaced with a techno dance beat that’s sure to excite a crowd.
Along with the song, the visualizer includes a behind-the-scenes moment of Fred Again..’s run from a few weeks ago, where he performed at Knockdown Center in NYC. It “captures the moment yachty hears this song on a proper system for the first time,” as Fred himself put it — complete with light displays and all.
Check out “Stayinit” above.
Fred Again.. is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
Lil Yachty’s imagination and creativity continues to run wild. Everyone knows the fascinating and explorative streak he has been since dropping Let’s Start Here. a little over a year ago. Sure, he has went back to his introductory trap rap style here and there. In fact, some of those reroutes have been fantastic releases. But, what has been really interesting is seeing him try out different instrumentals and genres. Today, Lil Yachty, Fred again.. and Overmono are working together on “Stayinit.”
Fred again.. is a hip-hop adjacent producer that we have covered quite a bit. He also likes to drop sick tracks with tech house and EDM instrumentals. That is where “Stayinit” lives in. The usual structure of a track like this shows up, with fragments of verses and ultra repetitive choruses.
Listen To “Stayinit” By Lil Yachty, Fred Again.., & Overmono
One of Fred’s recent efforts we covered included the increasingly popular “leavemealone” with Baby Keem. This may be another favorite of many as the beat is quite good and perfect for ragers at the club. According to Stereogum, this song was previewed days after Fred again won a GRAMMY. He popped out to a New York show hosted by Overmono, the other producer for this song to preview it. Now, streaming fans can enjoy this song at the leisure.
What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Stayinit,” by Fred again.., Lil Yachty, and Overmono? Is Yachty the best genre-bending rapping rapper out right now, why or why not? What was your favorite element of the song and why? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section.
