Quavo is the head honcho in his own right, but don’t forget that the “Mink” rapper is most definitely a rock star. So, his new collaboration with Lenny Kravitz, isn’t just serendipitous.
Today (August 9), after teasing their ultimate link up for over a week, the official video for the duo’s track “Fly” has landed. On the Andrew Watt and Cirkut co-produced track, the pair boast about their highly favored lives.
“I’m feelin’ the wave / I wanna fly / Let’s get geeked, let’s get drunk, let’s get high / Don’t go on a plane / I’m sittin’ the jet way / You already know which way we goin’ that way / Told her I wanna get you paid / Oh, you like that? Okay, bounce right back, go rage,” raps Quavo.
But, in the official video, Quavo and Lenny Kravitz take things to a heightened rock star level. With head banging, quick cuts to Kravitz’s guitar work, and a wardrobe comprised solely of black leather, what more could you ask for?
Let’s be real, sample fatigue is real. However, Quavo’s incorporation of Lenny Kravitz’s smash 1998 song “Fly Away” defies fans’ complaints. Last year, Quavo released his sophomore solo studio album, Rocket Power. But could “Fly” signal that another project rollout is on the way?
Watch Quavo and Lenny Kravitz’s official music video for “Fly” above.
Following the success of his recent Hot 100 hit “Tough” with Lana Del Rey, GRAMMY nominated artist Quavo (Quality Control Music/Motown Records) is back with another impressive release, “FLY.” This single offers a fresh take on Lenny Kravitz’s classic 1998 track, enhanced by Quavo’s distinctive style and melody. Quavo’s lyrics, “Flyest in the room, who Flyer than you? / Flyest in the room, you just past the moon?” are complemented by Kravitz’s newly recorded vocals, bringing a renewed energy to the song.
The accompanying video, directed by Jake Nava, showcases Quavo and Kravitz as a dynamic duo, delivering a captivating performance. Their synergy is palpable, creating an electrifying atmosphere that translates through both the music and visuals. Quavo and Kravitz’s collaboration follows their connection earlier this year when Quavo honored Kravitz at the BMC dinner. Kravitz, a celebrated rockstar, continues to make waves in the industry with his latest album, *Blue Electric Light*, released earlier this year.
Earlier this month, Quavo released “Tough,” a pop-infused track with Lana Del Rey. The song, which explores new musical territories for both artists, has been well-received by major outlets like Rolling Stone, Complex, and Billboard. Currently, “Tough” is holding strong at No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. Quavo also made headlines in Atlanta recently when he appeared alongside Vice President Harris at a rally, supporting her stance on gun control and endorsing her run for the presidency. Quavo’s new white cognac, White X, created in partnership with Sazerac, makes a cameo in the video upon the brand’s nationwide launch. Quavo’s latest foray into the spirits industry is just another step for him to become one of music’s preeminent entrepreneurs.
Quavo and Lenny Kravitz have a song together called “FLY”. That is a sentence that many music fans might have never thought they would ever hear. However, we can say that today, as the trap rap mainstay and rock and roll legend’s collaboration is available everywhere. The former Migos leader previewed this song about a week ago or so to some pretty negative reactions. Overall, he seems to be in new creative rhythm as of late, with his country/pop rap crossover “Tough” with Lana Del Rey being the kick starter. That track has been blowing up since its release in early July, raking in over 84 million streams.
Overall, we feel that “Tough” is deserving of its popularity thanks to its solid execution and quality performances from Quavo and Lana. However, we can see why the initial reactions to “FLY” were what they were. Some called it a piece of “high school music” and that’s a pretty accurate description. This feels like a blatant cover of Lenny Kravitz’s radio hit “Fly Away” in the worse way possible. It comes across a cash grab thanks to including the rocker’s OG chorus with some trap production slapped onto it. There is a plethora of rap/rock crossovers that we would recommend over “FLY”, sadly. Still, give it a try below and let us know what you think.
I’m feelin’ the wave (Feelin’ the wave) I wanna fly (I wanna fly) Let’s get geeked, let’s get drunk, let’s get high (Let’s get high) Don’t go on a plane (Phew) I’m sittin’ the jet way (Jet) You already know which way we goin’ (Go), that way
Lenny Kravitz revealed in a recent interview that he is a celebrity who has been celibate for the past nine years. He shared a personal choice that echoed the experiences of other celebrities who abstain from sexual intimacy. Kravitz, who recently celebrated his 60th birthday, explained his commitment to celibacy as a “spiritual” endeavor. “It’s a spiritual thing,” he told The Guardian. “I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live.”
His decision illustrates the many reasons why certain celebrities might choose to abstain from having sexual relationships. Some see being celibate as an unconventional lifestyle choice, but celebrities are embracing this path with their own perspectives. Their accounts offer insight into human sexuality and how people navigate relationships.
One figure who has been vocal about her experience with celibacy is Lady Gaga. Back in 2010, the pop icon stated, “I can’t believe I’m saying this – don’t have sex. I’m single right now and I’ve chosen to be single because I don’t have the time to get to know anybody. So it’s OK not to have sex, it’s OK to get to know people. I’m celibate, celibacy’s fine,” she told Daily Mail. She continued, “It’s OK to be whomever it is that you want to be. You don’t have to have sex to feel good about yourself, and if you’re not ready, don’t do it. And if you are ready, there are free condoms given away at my concerts when you’re leaving!”
Andrew Garfield
Similarly, actor Andrew Garfield entered on a celibate path while preparing for his role in the 2016 film Silence. He revealed on an episode of the WTF With Marc Maron podcast, “I had an incredibly spiritual experience. I did a bunch of spiritual practices every day, I created new rituals for myself. I was celibate for six months, and fasting a lot because me and Adam [Driver] had to lose a bunch of weight anyway.”
For some celebrities, being celibate has helped them rethink intimacy. Justin Bieber, prior to his marriage to Hailey Bieber, engaged in a period of abstinence as a means of rededicating himself to his spiritual beliefs. “[God] doesn’t ask us not to have sex for him because he wants rules and stuff,” Bieber explained to Vogue. “He’s like, ‘I’m trying to protect you from hurt and pain.’ I think sex can cause a lot of pain. Sometimes people have sex because they don’t feel good enough. Because they lack self-worth.”
Orlando Bloom
Similarly, actor Orlando Bloom embraced a six-month celibacy streak before meeting his now-wife Katy Perry. He credited the experience with helping him “relate to women and to the feminine within [himself]” in a more fulfilling way. Bloom revealed to The Sunday Times he was initially aiming for three months of abstinence, but ended up extending it because he was “really enjoying the way I was relating to women.”
Hilary Duff
In the early 2000s, Hilary Duff was among the celebrities who publicly committed to being celibate until marriage. Duff, who dated Joel Madden, stated at the time, “It’s harder having a boyfriend who’s older because people just assume. But [virginity] is definitely something I like about myself. It doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about sex, because everyone I know has had it and you want to fit in,” she told Elle magazine in 2006. “But when they talk about it, it doesn’t sound special, like you would imagine it to be.”
Ciara and her husband, Russell Wilson, famously abstained from sex until their marriage. It was a decision they described as challenging but ultimately rewarding for their relationship. In 2015, Wilson said during an interview at The Rock Church, “I asked her, ‘What would you do if we took all that other stuff off the table and did it Jesus’ way, no sex?’”
He continued, “I knew God had brought me into her life to bless her and for her to bless me and to bless so many people with the impact that she has and I have. We’re not going to be perfect, by any means.” Ciara and Wilson were married a year later and, the following year, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Sienna. In July 2020, the singer gave birth to their son, Win.
Kevin Jonas
Kevin Jonas and his wife, Danielle, embraced a similar path. As part of the Jonas Brothers’ well-known commitment to purity rings and abstinence until marriage, Jonas was one of the celebrities who kept his promise to stay celibate until his 2009 wedding day. He later reflected to People, “I could’ve gotten married the day after we got engaged. We’d have gone cra-zy waiting any longer.”
Yvonne Orji
Actress Yvonne Orji, known for her role in the series Insecure, has spoken openly about her decision to remain celibate until marriage, which she says is motivated by her religious convictions. Despite portraying highly sexual scenes on the show, Orji has remained steadfast in her personal commitment to abstinence. “There was a woman on campus who did the Bible study. She was a med student, she was beautiful and when I heard it, I was like, ‘Do what?’ And she was 26. She was a virgin too. And she was like, ‘I want to honor Him. it’s the least that I could do,’” Orji said on The Breakfast Club in 2016. “And I’m real competitive — I have three older brothers — I don’t know why that was the thing I was competitive about. But I was like, ‘She can do it. I can do it.’
For Nick Cannon, celibacy has been an on-again, off-again part of his life’s journey. After welcoming his 8th child in 2021, Cannon revealed he had started a “celibacy journey” on the advice of his therapist. He explained, “My therapist was one of the [people] who said that I should probably be celibate because I had shared that news, that Bre was pregnant. That was the reason why I started my celibacy journey back then,” Cannon explained during a conversation with Angela Yee on his talk show in January 2022, referring to the model who was expecting his eighth child. ” … I was [celibate] because I was dealing with [this].”
Amber Rose
On the other hand, model and media personality Amber Rose has been outspoken about embracing long-term celibacy out of disillusionment with modern dating. In a candid interview on the Sofia with an F podcast, she declared, “I don’t want to share my house or my life with anyone. I don’t want anyone around my kids. I don’t want to have sex. It’s so gross. I don’t want it.”
Nicki Minaj
Rapper Nicki Minaj has also been open about periods of celibacy in her life. In 2017, she revealed she had taken a break from sex and dating, encouraging her fans to do the same. “I’m just chillin’ right now,” she said. “I’m celibate. I wanted to go a year without dating any man. I hate men,” she said during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Terry Crews
For actor Terry Crews and his wife Rebecca King-Crews, a vow of celibacy played a crucial role in rebuilding their marriage after Crews’ struggle with pornography addiction and infidelity. Crews told Entertainment Tonight, “I went on a 90-day sex fast [with] her…It took me back to a time when I was 12 years old and I liked a girl and I didn’t know anything about sex. But all I did was give her a flower and say, ‘I like you for who you are.’”
Mariah Carey is another celebrity who has spoken about the positive effects of abstinence. Prior to her 2008 marriage to Nick Cannon, Carey practiced celibacy, explaining, “It’s not that we had NO intimacy, we just didn’t have complete intimacy…I just thought that it would be so much more special if we waited until after we were married.”
“I definitely don’t want to push it on anybody else,” she added. “But we both have similar beliefs, and I just thought that it would be so much more special if we waited until after we were married. And it was, and it still is.”
Ice-T and Lenny Kravitz aren’t usually two celebrities mentioned in the same sentence. They might have a few things in common, like posting the occasional thirst trap photo, but they usually do their own thing like any other normal human beings do. Well actually, the Body Count frontman did comment on a Kravitz-related subject this week after the latter pulled a bit of a Julia Fox.
Let’s back up for some context. Fox recently revealed that she has been celibate for years (ever since… you know), but she hasn’t gone nearly as far with with abstaining as Kravitz, who let the world know that it’s been nine years since he’s done the deed, and he won’t do so again until he’s in a serious relationship. And you know what? He knows what he doesn’t want.
Ice-T, however, had some thoughts on the issue and didn’t hold back. His unfiltered ways are frequently something to witness, but he seems to feel quite strongly about Kravitz’s revelation, as he wrote on Twitter/X: “9yrs without Sex? F that BS. Weirdo sh*t.”
By now, you have probably seen that tweet if you’ve been on the Internet in the past 24 hours. However, something strange has happened: the tweet no longer exists. As Page Six noticed, Ice-T has deleted that statement, so what gives? He usually doesn’t shy away from backlash, and he continued engaging on the subject in tweets that do still exist.
Hey….. If you’re a Guy and you can voluntarily go 9yrs without sex… You’re following the wrong page..
Perhaps Ice had second thoughts on referring too directly to Kravitz. And perhaps the Law & Order: SVU star who jokingly claimed to have started an earthquake with his bedroom moves thought twice due to Lenny never asking for other celebrities to weigh in on the subject. Still, Kravitz did make a personal subject into a public discussion, so there was bound to be some messy commentary in the aftermath. Whatever the case, Ice has not elaborated on why he deleted the tweet, but that sure makes for an unusual day in an overall surreal news week.
Rock icon Lenny Kravitz opened up about his deeply personal journey of celibacy and his hopes for finding the right woman. The 59-year-old musician revealed that he has not been in a serious relationship for the past nine years, a decision he attributes to a spiritual commitment.
In a candid interview with The Guardian, Kravitz revealed, “Yes. It’s a spiritual thing,” he affirmed when asked about his celibacy. The singer, known for his hits like “Fly Away” and “American Woman,” has always embraced a lifestyle that blends his creative passions with a sense of deeper spiritual purpose. This choice to abstain from intimate relationships until finding the right partner is a testament to that ethos.
Kravitz’s commitment to celibacy is not driven by a lack of interest in relationships. In fact, he expressed a genuine desire to be in a relationship, although he acknowledged potential challenges. “I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live,” he admitted. This self-awareness highlights the rocker’s understanding of how his independent lifestyle and personal habits might impact future relationships.
Despite these potential obstacles, Kravitz remains hopeful about meeting someone who aligns with his values and lifestyle. His openness about this journey offers a rare glimpse into the personal life of a man often seen as a rock ‘n’ roll heartthrob, showing a sensitive side to his personality.

Lenny Kravitz is one of the most alluring figures of rock music. His creative style is evident from his genre-bending music to his bohemian style. However, Lenny Kravitz is also known for being romantically entangled with several high-profile women. Overall, his relationship history ranges from short flings to engagements. These days, though, he has kept his romantic life relatively quiet.
Lisa Bonet
Probably his most notable relationship, Lenny Kravitz met Lisa Bonet in 1985 at a New Edition concert. They hit it off immediately, even though they were both in relationships at the time. It seems that their chemistry was undeniable, though, because two years later, in 1987, the pair eloped in Las Vegas. They were the picture-perfect boho couple for a few years. Moreover, their daughter Zoe Kravitz followed in the footsteps of her parents as a singer, actress, and model. The couple separated in 1991 and officially divorced in 1993.
Kylie Minogue
After his split with Bonet, Lenny Kravitz was spotted out with the Australian icon Kylie Minogue. The two chose never to confirm the rumors, but they were evidently a couple in 1991. During this time, Kravitz was also rumored to have been dating superstar Madonna. However, there is not much backing to these rumors.
Vanessa Paradis
Kravitz’ next major relationship was with the French singer Vanessa Paradis. Paradis was working on her first English album, and Lenny Kravitz was pulled in to help produce it. Paradis has stated that she handpicked Kravitz to work on the album with her, and though their relationship started professionally, it eventually became romantic. The pair were known for their unique fashion styles, making them one of the paparazzi’s most beloved couples of the time. They ended their five-year relationship in 1996. Kravitz stated that they were just together at the wrong time.
Natalie Imbruglia
Lenny Kravitz was rumored to have a short fling with singer Natalie Imbruglia. The gossip came after the two were spotted out for dinner together in 1999. Although neither party ever confirmed the relationship, they were reported to have been seeing each other for a little under a year before parting ways. Nonetheless, they were a gorgeous couple and generated significant media buzz.
Adriana Lima
Lenny Kravitz started dating Brazilian model Adriana Lima in 2001. Their relationship was intense from the start. Moreover, he featured her in the music video of his song ”Yesterday is Gone (My Dear Kay).” A year later, they were engaged and cohabitating. Despite seeming happy and having fun during their time together, they announced their breakup a year later in 2003.
Nicole Kidman
A lover at heart, Lenny Kravitz was dating again soon after, and this relationship resulted in another engagement. He met Nicole Kidman when she rented his Manhattan apartment in 2002, and the two did their best to keep their relationship a secret. Zoë Kravitz, who stars alongside Kidman on Big Little Lies, shared that Kidman was like an “almost stepmom” to her and that they got along very well. Unfortunately, Kravitz and Kidman broke up a year later.
Barbara Fialho
Kravitz’s most recent relationship was with Barbara Fialho. He was seen displaying some PDA with the Victoria’s Secret model in January 2018. Their relationship got some buzz since Fialho was just a year older than his daughter. Nonetheless, the two broke things off after less than a year together.
After calling out certain media platforms for not acknowledging him in a recent interview, Lenny Kravitz issued a clarification today on his social media channels. “It is important to me to set the record straight on recent media reports based on an interview I did,” he explained. “The comment I made was not about ‘Black media’ or the ‘Black community.’ I was referring to Black award shows in particular.”
So, what did he say that got “the Black community” so riled up that he had to make a statement?
During his interview with Esquire, Kravitz lamented, “To this day, I have not been invited to a BET thing or a Source Awards thing. And it’s like, here is a Black artist who has reintroduced many Black art forms, who has broken down barriers — just like those that came before me broke down. That is positive. And they don’t have anything to say about it?”
As Lenny points out, as one of the very few Black artists making rock music over the past three decades — y’know, the genre that Black folks invented — it does seem that he feels like those awards shows have overlooked his contributions, inadvertently reaffirming the stereotypes that allowed rock to be appropriated in the first place (of course, he might be a little out-of-touch himself, as the Source Awards haven’t been held in nearly 20 years).
So it turns out, Kravitz didn’t really have much to say about “Black media” so much as specific awards show producers who’ve left him out of the conversation. Of course, when quotes get picked up by other publications, they can be reframed in ways that can change the tenor and even the substance of the quotes, which is why it’s always important to read beyond the headlines.
