Janelle Monáe‘s world takeover continues. Tonight (October 6), the illustrious musician has shared a remix to a fan favorite from her fourth studio album, The Age Of Pleasure.
On a special ATL remix to “Champagne Sh*t,” Monáe joins forces with fellow Atlanta rap stars, Latto and Quavo. Throughout the course of the song, the three are in triumphant spirits, as they toast to their wins.
Monáe’s first verse and chorus remain the same as those on the original album version, with Quavo and Latto adding even more southern flair.
“We gon’ drink ’til we faint now it’s tasting like water / Proud of the times when we came from the bottom / Right now I’m hot, it’s time to go harder / How we keep winnin’, because I’m a starter,” raps Quavo on his triumphant verse.
Having been killing the rap game and maintaining a consistent flow of features and hits, Latto enjoys the fruits of her labor.
“College girl I’m tryna pay your tuition / Red bone kissing, casamigos pissin / Trying go home to the D like a piston,” she raps, reminding us that she’s got the game on lock.
You can listen to “Champagne Sh*t (ATL Remix)” above.

Janelle Monáe has remixed a fan-favorite and has added ATL’s top rappers to the song. Her song “Champagne S**t” which appears on her most recent fourth studio album The Age Of Pleasure, has received a fresh new update featuring Latto and Quavo. In this special ATL remix of “Champagne Sh*t,” Monáe unites her talents with the two fellow Atlanta rap luminaries, and it’s a song to remember. Throughout the song, the three raise their glasses in celebration of their achievements.
The infusion of Quavo and Latto into the mix introduces an additional dose of Southern flavor, enhancing the track’s already captivating appeal. However, fans will be pleased to know that Monáe’s initial verse and chorus are the same as her original version. Monáe, an artist known for her genre-blurring creativity and magnetic stage presence, has consistently pushed the boundaries of music and performance. With this remix, she demonstrates her commitment to evolving and experimenting with her sound while staying true to her roots.
Latto, a rising star in the rap game, adds her distinctive flair to the track, complementing Monáe’s artistry with her own unique style. Together, they create a dynamic blend of voices and styles that resonates with fans both old and new.
This remix is another jewel in Janelle Monáe’s crown, reaffirming her status as a trailblazing artist who’s not afraid to try new things. Latto has found herself at the center of controversy after a Magic City dancer called her out for taking back the money she had thrown during a release party. The Atlanta rapper has offered what appears to be a response, but the incident has ignited a fiery debate on social media. ‘Put It On Da […]
Over the weekend, Latto released her new song “ISSA PARTY.” Unsurprisingly, the track is a party anthem that sees her teaming up with Georgia rapper BabyDrill. The song deploys a bit of interpolation, borrowing some lyrics and refrains from Waka Flocka Flame’s song “It’s A Party.” Some fans online immediately called her out, thinking that it went beyond just reference into straight-up stealing. “if i’m waka flocka my lawsuit was filed yesterday” one tweet responding to the original video read.
Flocka apparently caught the tweet and wanted to clear the air about his thoughts on the song. “flattery at this highest…. never understood why rob these youngsters for showing us respect plus Lotto from Clayton County.” he responded. His answer is pretty definitive, cosigning both Latto as an artist and the song itself. That’s no surprise given that the two have been spotted hanging out before. Just over the weekend, they were hanging out together enjoying themselves at a strip club. Check out Flocka’s tweet below.
Waka Flocka Flame Loves The Interpolation From Latto
Latto’s new song is off to a solid start. The track has already racked up over 550k streams on Spotify with another almost 400k views of the music video on YouTube. She already has a pair of hits under her belt this year, the first one coming alongside Cardi B. They teamed up for “Put It On Da Floor Again” which debuted at number 13 on the Hot 100 and is sticking around at the very last song on last week’s charts.
Her second hit of the year skyrocketed to the very top spot on the charts. “Seven” saw Latto teaming up with K-Pop star Jung Kook and their song debuted at the number one spot in its first week. The song remains on the chart sitting at number 53 in last week’s countdown. What do you think of Waka Flocka Flame’s response to Latto interpolating his lyrics in her new song? It’s no secret that hip-hop is primarily a male-dominated world, but in 2023, it’s been the women who have really held things down. Several new faces have quickly emerged as favourites in the genre this year, including names like Ice Spice and Sexyy Red. Both women’s catapult into the spotlight has been somewhat meteoric, but they’ve handled it with as much grace (and attitude) as was necessary. For her part, Spice has been facing accusations of being a one-hit wonder and industry plant since her career first began. Of course, she’s putting in plenty of work to combat those rumours.
She’s made strong connections with heavy hitters such as Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift already, but that doesn’t mean everyone is on the 23-year-old’s side. In particular, she’s been butting heads with Atlanta-based superstar Latto since the 777 hitmaker said that she wasn’t familiar with Spice’s viral TikTok song during a red-carpet interview. They’ve never faced off directly, but the redhead has made it abundantly clear that she’s seen Latto taking notes on her style choices, and is perhaps not of the mindset that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.
“It is a competition at the end of the day,” the New Yorker told Variety in her latest interview. “People want to be all, ‘I’m a girl’s girl,’ but then behind the scenes being b**ches… I can be transparent, and I know the competition is checking on me too,” Spice confidently stated. “It’s like, ‘Yeah, girl, I’m watching you and I know you watching me.’ And boys are watching too, because they be secretly haters.”
Seeing as the “Karma (Remix)” artist directly mentioned the phrase “girl’s girl,” many social media users think she’s referencing a viral Latto interview in which she praised herself for supporting other female rappers. “All this started just because Latto acted like she didn’t know Ice Spice’s viral TikTok song,” one person speculated on Twitter. “The rap girlies are so entertaining and I’m here for it.”
Keep scrolling to see what both Latto and Ice Spice’s fans are saying about the former’s new Variety cover story. Do you think that the “Deli” rapper intended to throw shade directly at Latto, or was she simply making a blanket statement? Latto isn’t the one to play around with. On her new single, “Issa Party,” our cover star fires some warning shots at people who’ve been trying to throw dirt on her name.
Latto puts her haters and naysayers on notice, warning them that they can look forward to a surprise from her if they don’t stop trying to play her.
“B*tch, I’m red, not green, lil’ ho, stop playin’ with me / I hate borin’ b*tches, they be throwin’ off my energy,” she raps on the song’s opening verse.
Fellow Georgia rapper Baby Drill pops in, warning that he’s about that action, both on and off of the internet.
“Drill just beat another body, take a shot, let’s celebrate / Twitter beef, don’t do the back and forth, pull up shootin’ for days,” he raps.
On the song’s chorus, the two interpolate Waka Flocka Flame’s hit song, “Grove St. Party.”
Latto and Baby Drill have been teasing the fiery collaboration over the course of the past week. The song’s accompanying video is set to premiere in the near future, and ahead of the video, Latto teased the clip by transforming the famed Atlanta strip club Magic City into Latto City.
In the meantime, you can listen to “Issa Party” above.
