Snoop Dogg Shares Wise Words For Latto: “You Got To Be A Smarter Businesswoman”

Snoop Dogg is putting it all on the table. In a candid exchange that unfolded during their Musicians on Musicians cover shoot at the iconic United Recording studios in Hollywood, veteran rapper Snoop Dogg offered valuable advice to emerging female emcee, Latto, as she embarks on her journey to stardom. He told her that this era of women are the first era to actually dominate music. Snoop Dogg, a luminary in the hip-hop industry, engaged in a heart-to-heart conversation with the 24-year-old Atlanta rapper. The duo delved into the intricacies of the music business and the challenges that come with fame. The seasoned rapper addressed the current state of the music industry.

Latto brought up the harsh reality that the music industry often fails to recognize genuine talent. To this, Snoop, 52, responded with a sobering insight, stating, “[But] nowadays, talent isn’t involved anymore. They’re moving talent out the way because it’s overnight successes that they can make. That’s why when you really do have talent, you should hone it. Study the greats before you to see how you can stay here for a long time.” He went on to emphasize the importance of sustaining a successful career, referencing the fate of many beloved ’90s rappers who’ve faded from the limelight. He asserted that he’s one of the few who’ve endured, attributing this to his business decisions.

Snoop Gives Latto Some Game

“What happened to your favorite rappers in the Nineties?,” Snoop asked. “Where they at? Most of them gone. I’m probably the only one that’s still around. It’s because of the things that they did or the business opportunities that they didn’t capitalize on. So you got to be a smarter businesswoman and say, ‘OK, the women are winning right now in the music industry.’ This is a first, for the women to be [in] the foreground.” However, he warned a message about potential rivalries. He warned, “You guys have to understand that here’s where the bullsh*t comes in. They going to make y’all fight each other. That’s what they made us do. They didn’t want us to join hands and say, ‘Hey, East Coast, West Coast, down South. I love your music.’ You from the South. I love your sht. Why I got to hate you from down there? That’s what they’ll put into y’all Kool-Aid.”

Latto responded with, “And we fall for the trap.” She seemed to agree with the divisive cycle in the industry. “But somebody got to be sharp enough to say, ‘You know what? It’s a business…” Snoop continued. Moreover, in a landscape that often prioritizes quick success over genuine talent, Snoop Dogg’s wisdom serves as a beacon for emerging artists like Latto. His words offer somewhat of a a roadmap to navigate the intricate web of the music industry while fostering unity and smart business acumen. Thoughts?

Latto & Sexyy Red True Religion Feud Rumours Fly Over Subliminal IG Posts

If Latto decided to join the music industry in hopes of making strong female friendships, it doesn’t seem to be going over so well for her. Despite labelling herself a “girl’s girl” in an interview several months ago, the starlet is regularly on blast for taking inspiration from other rap divas on multiple occasions. Ice Spice made it clear that she doesn’t see imitation as the most sincere form of flattery by any means after Latto began donning mini skirts and other similar styles in the summer. Now, it looks like drama is brewing between Sexyy Red and the “Lottery” hitmaker.

Trouble first began when Latto and a group of friends shared a video twerking and turning up to throwback music in True Religion jeans. The upload itself seemed innocent, though that didn’t stop social media sleuths from speculating that the 777 hitmaker was copying Red. Not long after, the Hood Hottest Princess put a telling repost on her Story. “All these celebrities wasn’t wearing @truereligion until @sexyyred came out 😭😭,” the original post reads.

After @theshaderoom posted Latto’s video to their IG, she chimed in on the discourse. “They be knowing what they doing lol, very weird,” the lyricist speculated. “If [you] not from Atlanta this not for [you]!” Later on her Story, the blonde beauty took us back in time with some throwback shots of her wearing True’s long before she found fame, shutting down some of those trying to pit her and Red against each other.

If the rumours of drama between Sexyy Red and Latto are true, we’re disappointed that we won’t be hearing another collaboration from them anytime soon. Regardless, we’re excited to see what’s next for both women as they step into 2024. Do Ice Spice & Latto Have Beef?

It seems like every time a new female rapper pops up and starts to build a buzz, rap fans can’t help but pit her against another. The latest entertainers to experience this trend are Ice Spice and Latto, who fans seem eager to see duke it out, even if they have to read into lyrics, mislabel fight videos, and stretch each of their new releases to make them about the other rapper.

Most recently, with the release of Offset’s new album, Set It Off, and Latto’s appearance on its song “Fine As Can Be,” rap fans have been speculating that Latto’s verse took lyrical shots at fellow hip-hop it-girl Ice Spice thanks to a reference to Ice’s breakout hit.

“That n**** a munch, your booking fee, ate it for lunch,” Latto raps. Obviously, fans have taken the reference to “Munch,” Ice Spice’s breakout hit, to mean that the next line is about Ice Spice — which is kind of a reach. Even Victor Wembanyama is jealous.

But why exactly do fans think that Ice Spice and Latto have a feud?

Unfortunately, it probably has to do with Nicki Minaj, who’s notoriously been at the center of a bunch of rap beef, whether invented by fans, manufactured by labels, or actively encouraged by Nicki herself.

In this case, Latto and Nicki Minaj have a history of exchanging insults and accusations going back to an episode of NIcki’s Queen Radio podcast in which it seemed she seemingly called out Latto for making an unrelated comment about female rappers flourishing in recent years.

After Nicki outright named Latto’s song “Big Energy” in an angry rant about the Grammys categorizing her song “Super Freaky Girl” as pop, Latto fired back, calling Nicki a “bully” while Nicki called Latto a “Karen” (apparently, she doesn’t get the context of the term).

Their duel eventually simmered down, but with Nicki championing Ice Spice, then collaborating with her repeatedly, fans have apparently projected Nicki’s feud onto Ice Spice. (For what it’s worth, Nicki has waged war by proxy before, so this response is at least semi-reasonable.)

This has led to fans believing that Ice Spice took shots at Latto on “Butterly Ku” from the deluxe edition of her Like…? EP with a subtle reference to Latto’s “Put It On Da Floor” — a song that was widely interpreted as a diss toward Ice Spice’s benefactor Nicki (especially after the remix added longtime Nicki rival Cardi B).

So, the answer is likely “no, Ice Spice and Latto don’t have beef.” But they also probably won’t become best friends anytime soon with fans, mentors, and the recording industry stoking rumors of conflict. And as with so many pairs of women in hip-hop’s past, it’s probably only a matter of time until those rumors become reality, like a self-fulfilling prophecy that rap fans just can’t stop making.

Did Latto Diss Ice Spice On ‘Fine As Can Be?’

Offset’s highly-anticipated sophomore album Set It Off is out now. On it, he addressed several significant moments in his life. For Latto, who makes a guest appearance, she used her verse to clap back at a rumored foe. So, did Latto diss Ice Spice on “Fine As Can Be”?

If you look at the lyrics posted on Genius, it seems likely. Latto raps, “Double whatever they offer me / Buyin’ Chanels is comedy / I already bought me every color Birkin / Now I want the stocks and properties / That n**** munch / Yo’ bookin’ fee, ate it for lunch / I don’t do backends, need it up front / I’m big dawg, you b*tches is runts / Don’t pull wigs, don’t pull stunts / I pull triggers, and I pull blunts / I pull cars like it’s Tonk / B*tch, you couldn’t top me in a bunk.” In those lyrics, it seems there are two subtle references to Spice’s famous catchphrase.

This wouldn’t be the first time the two exchange blows. In July, Ice Spice shared the song “Butterfly Ku,” where she rapped, “Where she at? On the floor (Damn) / She get her money, but I’m gettin’ more (More) / I’m a player, you know I’m a score (Facts) / First they was hatin’, now I’m on the board.” Fans took to social media to call out the stanza as a shot at Latto’s “Put It On Da Floor.”

Latto is not here for anyone who is trying to dim her light. Hitting X, Latto clapped back at a fan who called her an industry plant.

“I been doing this since a kid & I get real love/respect from the greats for that..” Latto wrote. “I came up before social media I handed out mixtapes, did open mics & talent shows, etc I when y’all say this.. I worked VERY long & hard to be here.”

Latto And Christina Aguilera Blend Hip-Hop And Opera In A Roaring New Song For A Just Eat Ad

Latto and Sexyy Red recently remixed Young Nudy’s “Peaches & Eggplants,” and Latto just aligned with food-related subject matter in a much more literal sense. On Thursday, October 12, Latto and Christina Aguilera joined forces for a Just Eat ad that must have had an extraordinary budget.

In an Instagram Reel posted by Latto and Just Eat, a UK-based online food delivery brand, Latto and Aguilera are swimming in Victorian-esque gowns and icy jewels while singing in a mansion that could also easily pass for a museum. Latto raps in her always-confident flow, which is complemented by Aguilera’s bonkers operatic range.

“Did somebody say just eat?” Latto spits. “Oh, you thought it was just burgers and fries? / They got more flavors than you tasted or you heard in your life / Ooh, this is what the app do / It ain’t only fast food / Switchin’ styles like opera to rap, too / Yummy!”

Latto continues to impressively make Just Eat’s expansion into grocery delivery sound like any of her past hard bars about much more compelling things and inserts her playful lyricism with lines like “I’m a bad girl but my takeout badder / What you mean, dude? I could cop a taco platter.” To top it off, Aguilera’s final falsetto shatters a chandelier. In other words, money well spent by Just Eat.

Latto Debunked Someone Calling Her An Industry Plant With Plenty Of Evidence: ‘I Hate When Y’all Say This’

Latto has a song called “Lottery,” but she will not stand for people equating her hard-earned success to winning a lottery. On Wednesday (October 11), someone wrote a since-deleted post on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Latto has to be an industry plant i sorry” (per HotNewHipHop), and Latto jumped in to provide plenty of evidence to the contrary.

“I been doing this since a kid & I get real love/respect from the greats for that,” Latto replied. “I came up before social media I handed out mixtapes, did open mics & talent shows, etc I hate when y’all say this.. I worked VERY long & hard to be here. Being relevant since 16yo is not easy or common.”

Earlier this week, Latto utilized X to put her real fans on notice, writing, “Should we tell them? [eyeballs emoji, face-over-mouth emoji] @xtina.” Christina Aguilera wrote in her quote-post response, “I think it’s time babe…. [lips emoji, hearts-on-face emoji].”

Should Aguilera and Latto release a collaboration, it will follow Latto serving as a featured artist on on Jung Kook’s “Seven” (her first-career No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100), Young Nudy’s “Peaches & Eggplants” remix, and Janelle Monáe’s “Champagne Sh*t” remix alongside Quavo.

Simultaneously, Latto has released singles “Put It On Da Floor Again” with Cardi B, “Technique” featuring Rakim, and “Issa Party” featuring Baby Drill.
