Kid Cudi’s ‘Insano’ Album Has Been Pushed Back, So He Decided To Share Two Songs As An Apology To His Fans

Kid Cudi’s former plans to retire from music were clearly an expression of professional frustration as he is hard at work on his upcoming album, Insano. Unfortunately, the musician has just hit a bump in the road. Today (September 4), Cudi took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to share a few updates regarding the project’s release.

“I have to push ‘Insano’ back til January,” wrote the entertainer, noting his perfectionist personality as the reason. But he was sure to end it on a positive note. As an apology for the delay, Cudi uploaded two tracks, “Most Ain’t Dennis” and “Ill What I Bleed,” off the forthcoming body of work onto his official Soundcloud page.

Both are a full display of Cudi’s innovative combination of vocal distortion via auto-tune and trap-heavy bass. As far as the inspiration behind the records goes, “Most Ain’t Dennis,” which was produced by BNYX & SADPONY, is in a way dedicated to his longtime friend and frequent collaborator, Dennis Cummings (the executive producer of Cudi’s film projects, 2021’s A Man Named Scott and 2022’s Entergalactic). On it, Cudi chronicles the difficulty in finding quality connections.

On the other hand, “Ill What I Bleed,” also produced by BNYX, is all about Cudi’s confidence in himself as he brags about his trendsetting swagger. Cudi has been receptive to his supporter’s feedback in the past. In May, he even scrapped a track that was set to appear on Insano because of the negative response it garnered. So, fans won’t be holding back their thoughts regarding these two new records.

Read the full statement about Insano‘s delay below.

Hey, fam! Got some updates for y’all. Some bad news, some good. I have to push ‘Insano’ back til January. I want to make sure that everything lines up, and that I give y’all the best version of myself. This album is amazing, and I want to make sure I present it in the best way for y’all. That’s the bad news. I still plan on releasing the next single soon, so don’t even worry about that.

The good news is, since I’m doing this and I know you all are feening to get a listen of the album, I’m releasing two new jams from ‘Insano’ tonight on Soundcloud. Just for you. (And I promise I won’t take them down.) These songs are some of my favorites on the album and I really think you’ll dig them. I’m sorry for the delay everybody but I’m a perfectionist. And things gotta be right. I love y’all! Enjoy!

Kid Cudi Says Pharrell Was A “Style God” To Him As A Kid

Kid Cudi is known not only for making great music but also for his eccentric style. Recently, the Cleveland native opened up about whose fashion inspired him growing up. Cudi credited none other than iconic producer and musician Pharrell Williams — another artist who’s known for his unique style. The rapper told The People Gallery he considered the N.E.R.D. bandmember to be a “style god.”

Dripped in his MOTR brand, the 39-year-old noted how Pharrell taught him to be fresh. “When I was young, man — I mean like 2001, 2002 — like, Pharrell was like the style god to me,” Cudi began. “It was like I was learning how to be fresh at that time and like he was like the person I’d check for, most of the time.” Cudi also named Kanye West as an influence. He added, “The fashion in Cleveland was not very forward, so like I would look to guys like P or, y’know, when Kanye came out.”

Cudi was recently tapped to be a part of Calvin Klein’s new campaign. Euphoria star Alexa Demie was also featured in the campaign. He opened up about the new partnership with Esquire earlier this month. “Man, I think what makes me feel confident is knowing that I’m truly myself at all times,” he said about his approach. “I’m 100 percent unique, me. And I know that’s what carries me into every situation. The fact that I love myself. That’s really it. That’s what gives me the most confidence in the world,” he told the publication.

On the music side of things, Cudi is preparing to release a brand-new album called INSANO. This project is going to come out on September 15th. He also dropped off multiple ideas for the album artwork. This is Cudi’s first album since Entergalactic last year, which many people believed to be his last since he announced he was retiring afterward. However, he changed course earlier this year. He said he would drop a project to close his record deal before reevaluating what to do next.

These Photos Of Los Angeles’ HARD Summer 2023 Show Why It Is The Class Of Dance Music Festivals

For the first time in ten years, HARD Summer returned to Los Angeles for a sprawling event that took over Exposition Park this past weekend. It was a welcome return to the city where HARD was born, beginning in 2007 and expanding to its regular Summer, Halloween, and one-off events over the years. But after a decade in the I.E., it was time for HARD to return home, anchored by a headline B2B set from Skrillex and Four Tet, and featuring the likes of Kai Wachi, IsoXO, Amémé, Kid Cudi, and many more. The talent was predictably world-class, but that’s only a part of HARD’s story.

Having run this event for as many years as they have, HARD has also mastered the logistics necessary for a successful event. Reports from the ground praised the overall safety and organization of the festival footprint, the food options, and curation. Scheduling meant that some tough choices had to be made, particularly with the big-ticket artists, but this is often necessary to prevent overcrowding at certain stages.

Short of experiencing HARD in person, the below photos will have to do to give you a solid case of FOMO. HARD will surely be back, so make sure not to miss out next time.

Here Are The Hard Summer Festival Set Times For 2023

HARD is preparing to bring the sold-out HARD Summer Music Festival 2023 to Los Angeles this Saturday, August 5, and Sunday, August 6. The diverse lineup was revealed in March, headlined by Kaskade and Skrillex and bolstered by 21 Savage and Kid Cudi as special guests.

All of the acts have received their slots on the weekend’s schedule across five stages, as shared by HARD this week: Hard Stage, Harder Stage, Green Stage, Purple Stage, and Pink Stage. On Saturday, Fat Joe will handle the Harder Stage from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. local time before Kaskade (B2B John Summit) headlines the Hard Stage from 9:30 to 11 p.m. local time, and 21 Savage performs on the Purple Stage from 10:15 p.m. to 11 p.m. local time.

Come Sunday, the Hard Stage will welcome the likes of Black Coffee (7:30-9 p.m.) and Skrillex (B2B Four Tet) from 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Ludacris is scheduled on the Harder Stage from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m., and Cudi will punctuate the event with a set on the Purple Stage from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The inaugural HARD Summer was held in 2008, and this year’s installment marks a return home to LA after 10 years away. The official website provides more information about what to expect from its LA Memorial Coliseum, Exposition Park, and BMO Stadium locations.

It Looks Like A Travis Scott And Kid Cudi Joint Album May Happen After All, Despite Cudi Previously Shutting It Down

Travis Scott‘s fourth studio album Utopia has the internet abuzz. As Scott is guaranteed to do with any project of his, he brought in a promising list of collaborators on this new album, notably SZA, 21 Savage, and the one and only Beyoncé. But also, fans have been eager for another Kid Cudi collab from Scott, and he delivered on this with the Utopia cut, “Looove.”

“Looove” has become an instant fan favorite, with fans asking if a Cudi and Scott joint album could be a possibility in the future.

Yesterday, Cudi took to Twitter to answer questions from a few fans, including one who said they “needed” the joint album.

“Its def happening at some point,” Cudi responded. “Dont even trip.”

But don’t expect it anytime soon. All good work takes time, and Cudi says he and Scott plan to take their time on this collaborative effort.

“I wanna create a ton of songs and pick the tastiest ones and really make it a moment for the culture,” Cudi said. “We only get 1 first album, its gotta be the illest. For now, UTOPIA.”

Still, fans are excited to learn that Scott and Cudi’s joint album, which they have nicknamed The Scotts, may actually see the light of day. Last December, Cudi ruled out the possibility of a joint album with Scott, saying “The moment has passed.”

During his brief bout on Twitter yesterday, Cudi clarified what he meant, saying, “Me and Trav hadn’t talked about it since the single [2020’s ‘The Scotts’] so years passed and I figured it wasnt happening. And im someone who likes to work when the moment is right and I felt like the moment passed. But then Trav said something publically so I was like well shit I guess we doin it ha…”

Utopia is out now via Epic Records and Cactus Jack. Find more information here.

Kid Cudi Feels He ‘Can’t Even Smile’ Without Getting Homophobic Comments

Social media continues to be a gift and a curse for our favorite entertainers. While having the ability to communicate directly with fans (and vice versa) has boosted the careers of many artists, there are drawbacks — and some stars have begun to hit back. Doja Cat recently lashed out at over-invested fans, and now, Kid Cudi is calling out internet bullies. In a late-night Twitter session, he blasted trolls who questioned his sexuality all because he posted a pic of himself grinning online.

“U know whats crazy and really makes me question the world we live in?” he mourned. “Is when I post a picture of me smiling on ig and theres mad comments questioning my sexuality floodin my page w insults. I feel really bad for yall man. Its sad out here. Man cant even smile and be happy no more. Smh.” In a follow-up, he wrote, “Its like ‘oh he smiling TOO hard!! He DEF sucks a dick!’ Its like word?? Thats what we on now?? Homophobic and sad and will be miserable their whole lives.”

Of course, Cudi’s online experience hasn’t been all bad. In May, he was able to use fan feedback to determine which single to release from his upcoming album — something that wouldn’t have been possible 20 years ago. So, a little good, a little bad.

Kid Cudi Shuts Down ‘Lame’ Rumors That He Got A Tattoo Of The Emoji Keyboard

Kid Cudi has worn many hats over the course of his career — rapper, actor, writer, and tattoo enthusiast. However, an image recently circulated online featuring a tattoo, which Cudi is denying belongs to him.

The tattoo appears to be a creation of the iOS Emoji keyboard, featuring a set of “frequently used” emojis. A Twitter user posted a picture of the tattoo, and captioned it, saying, “Kid cudi just got the worst tattoo in the world.”

Cudi shared the tweet and instantly shut down this claim.

“This is not me lame,” he said, with a crying emoji next to the statement.

While Cudi (and hopefully anyone in their right mind) didn’t actually get a tattoo of the Emoji keyboard, the multihyphenate did recently get a tattoo of the KAWS-designed Moon Man cartoon which is featured on the boxset featuring Cudi’s Man On The Moon album trilogy.

Recently, Cudi’s animated film Entergalactic, which accompanies his 10th studio album also titled Entergalactic, was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program.

Cudi took to Twitter to celebrate this remarkable feat, and particularly showed love to his frequent collaborator and friend, Travis Scott.

“Love to all the homies that hit me and showed love about the emmy nom,” he said. “Trav hit me first before anyone sayin congrats. It feels good to know I got real homies, real family out here that support me always.”
