These Photos Of Los Angeles’ HARD Summer 2023 Show Why It Is The Class Of Dance Music Festivals

For the first time in ten years, HARD Summer returned to Los Angeles for a sprawling event that took over Exposition Park this past weekend. It was a welcome return to the city where HARD was born, beginning in 2007 and expanding to its regular Summer, Halloween, and one-off events over the years. But after a decade in the I.E., it was time for HARD to return home, anchored by a headline B2B set from Skrillex and Four Tet, and featuring the likes of Kai Wachi, IsoXO, Amémé, Kid Cudi, and many more. The talent was predictably world-class, but that’s only a part of HARD’s story.

Having run this event for as many years as they have, HARD has also mastered the logistics necessary for a successful event. Reports from the ground praised the overall safety and organization of the festival footprint, the food options, and curation. Scheduling meant that some tough choices had to be made, particularly with the big-ticket artists, but this is often necessary to prevent overcrowding at certain stages.

Short of experiencing HARD in person, the below photos will have to do to give you a solid case of FOMO. HARD will surely be back, so make sure not to miss out next time.

Here Are The Hard Summer Festival Set Times For 2023

HARD is preparing to bring the sold-out HARD Summer Music Festival 2023 to Los Angeles this Saturday, August 5, and Sunday, August 6. The diverse lineup was revealed in March, headlined by Kaskade and Skrillex and bolstered by 21 Savage and Kid Cudi as special guests.

All of the acts have received their slots on the weekend’s schedule across five stages, as shared by HARD this week: Hard Stage, Harder Stage, Green Stage, Purple Stage, and Pink Stage. On Saturday, Fat Joe will handle the Harder Stage from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. local time before Kaskade (B2B John Summit) headlines the Hard Stage from 9:30 to 11 p.m. local time, and 21 Savage performs on the Purple Stage from 10:15 p.m. to 11 p.m. local time.

Come Sunday, the Hard Stage will welcome the likes of Black Coffee (7:30-9 p.m.) and Skrillex (B2B Four Tet) from 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Ludacris is scheduled on the Harder Stage from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m., and Cudi will punctuate the event with a set on the Purple Stage from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The inaugural HARD Summer was held in 2008, and this year’s installment marks a return home to LA after 10 years away. The official website provides more information about what to expect from its LA Memorial Coliseum, Exposition Park, and BMO Stadium locations.

HARD Summer’s 2023 Lineup Includes Special Guests 21 Savage And Kid Cudi And A Brand-New Venue

One of the biggest festivals of the year is HARD, a long-running festival that began in 2007 to highlight alternative and electronic acts and has been running ever since. This year, though, it’s making some big changes, moving to a new venue in Los Angeles and continuing to expand its horizons, adding hip-hop acts such as 21 Savage and Kid Cudi as special guests after bringing in Megan Thee Stallion and Lil Uzi Vert last year.

HARD Summer 2023 returns to Los Angeles, the festival’s birthplace, for the first time in 10 years on August 5 and 6, leaving behind the San Bernardino NOS Event Center for the Exposition Park area near downtown, which includes both the Coliseum and BMO Stadium (formerly the Banc Of California Stadium).

And although there are some other rap names on this year’s lineup, including Fat Joe and Ludacris, HARD’s keeping things mostly the same, with headliners Kaskade and Skrillex joining a lineup that includes standouts such as Four Tet, Diplo, Black Coffee, Dillon Francis, Oliver Tree, and more. There also appear to be some surprise artists on the bill who will presumably be announced as the festival nears. And don’t discount the possibility that Drake, who collaborated with Black Coffee on last year’s Honestly, Nevermind, might show up too. Never forget who started EDM in the first place.

Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Uzi Vert, And Porter Robinson Will Headline The 2022 HARD Summer Music Festival

Festival season is in full swing, and so far in 2022, the music world has been graced with strong showcases that display some of the best talents from different corners of the music world. Coachella is a couple of weeks removed from its two weekends of performances and it joins other festivals like Sol Blume, SXSW, Lollapalooza, Dreamville Fest, and more that have put on shows this year. Others are just weeks or months away from their own showcases, and it includes the HARD Summer Music Festival which just announced the lineup for its 2022 edition.

This year’s HARD Summer Music Festival, which will take over the NOS Event Center in San Bernardino during the weekend of July 29-31, will be headlined by Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Uzi Vert, and Porter Robinson. The announcement comes after Megan Thee Stallion shined brightly at last month’s Coachella Festival while Lil Uzi Vert and Porter Robinson are gearing up for additional festival appearances of their own, those being Something In The Water and Osheaga.

In addition to Megan, Lil Uzi, and Porter, the 2022 HARD Summer Music Festival will also feature performances from Joji, Gunna, 100 Gecs, Amine, Koffee, Masego, Denzel Curry, Ski Mask The Slump God, Three 6 Mafia, Duckwrth, and more.

You can view the full lineup for the 2022 HARD Summer Music Festival in the flyer above. Tickets for the festival will be on sale Friday 5/6 at 10 am PST here.

Hard Summer Festival’s 2021 Lineup Features Future, 2 Chainz, Lil Durk, And More

It’s been over a year since the last in-person music festival took place in the US. However, with the roll-out of vaccines taking place across the country, festival organizers are confident that large-scale live music events will be able to return in the coming months. Hard Summer Music Festival is especially optimistic, as they’ve unveiled their lineup for this summer’s event.

The hip-hop focused festival has invited big-names to perform at their event. Headliners include Future, 2 Chainz, Lil Durk, Don Toliver, and Iann Dior. Other musicians have also been tapped to take the stage like Mario Judah, Snot, Rubi Rose, Dillon Francis, and Jauz.

The festival is usually held in Fontana, California, but this year, Hard Summer is headed to NOS Event Center in the city of San Bernardino the weekend of July 31 to August 1. The new location makes it possible to have a more spread-out event, taking place across five different stages. Organizers are making efforts to have COVID precautions in place for the event as well. In press materials, the festival claims, “Hard will be working closely with local officials to implement necessary safety precautions and will follow state and local health guidelines in place at the time of the event.”

Hard Summer tickets go on sale 4/2 at 10 am PST. Get them here.
