Ken Carson Drops Off Mind-Melting Single “Delusional”

It seems that 2023 was Ken Carson’s breakout year. He had been bubbling before A Great Chaos, but he really blew up and put everyone on notice. A protege of Playboi Carti, he’s been showing the hip-hop world that he will be a face of the rage subgenre for years to come. Viral singles such “ss” (Sydney Sweeney), “overseas,” and “Fighting My Demons,” are all displays of the lane he’s currently dominating. It’s glitchy, booming, and futuristic trap-like beats, with slurred deliveries and blunt lyricism. Ken Carson is staying true to that formula on his newest release “delusional,” which is his first record since the deluxe to A Great Chaos.

The Atlanta, Georgia rapper has never been one to have hidden meanings in his songs, and this one is no different. On this blistering single, Carson is giving it to this girl straight that she isn’t all she’s made herself up to be. “This b**** must be delusional / She think she perfect, huh, huh, she think she worth it, huh, huh.” However, this record is also about other’s people’s beliefs that can check him. “Try to rob me and my gang, you gon’ need many men.” This kingpin mentality carries into the last few bars of the track where he declares that he’s going to be president. It’s an in-your-face display both literally and figuratively and it just continues to show that Ken’s not going anywhere.

You pop s*** on accident, I pop this s*** on purpose
Hit your b**** on accident, I hope you got insurance

Can’t react how I used to react, yeah, I’m maturin

Destroy Lonely & Ken Carson Flex Their Chemistry On “THRILL”

Massive albums are a byproduct of the streaming era for sure. 18-19/20-21 song projects are more common than ever before and it’s a person-by-person case if that’s a good thing or not. For us, we prefer shorter listens, as we feel it creates a higher chance of the project sounding tighter in all aspects. In that same breath, we can see why other artists are loading up the tracklists. For example, Destroy Lonely is one who is still forging his own path in a world crowded with rage/trap copycats. Longer listens allow for rising names to mess around with more sounds, melodies, and structuring to see what could be worth revisiting down the road.

We feel that Destroy Lonely is doing that to some extent on LOVE LASTS FOREVER, with “THRILL” being one of those instances. Like quite a few tracks, there are some things to like about it. The track kicks off with this amusement park-like intro before smoothly transitions into the head-nodding and atmospheric trap beat. Also helping “THRILL” is the inclusion of Opium teammate Ken Carson. They trade verses and adlib for each other at certain points, keeping things interesting. Furthermore, the guest’s chorus is pretty catchy too, making it a more a memorable listen. Overall, it’s a solid track, and one that could be made better in the future with slightly improved mixing and writing.

I just been talking that— huh, I just been talkin’ that money, yeah, yeah
Can’t communicate if it ain’t ’bout them funds, huh, huh
My location off, like I’m on the run, huh, huh

I’m all in her jaw, just like bubble gum, yeah, woah

Ken Carson Lets “A Great Chaos” Rage On With Seven New Deluxe Cuts

It took just a couple of weeks after the release of A Great Chaos for Ken Carson to start thinking about dropping a deluxe. According to Genius, the Atlanta, Georgia rage rapper teased this possibility at various points from Halloween and through June 8. He mostly did so via Twitter (now X), but also through an IG page dedicated to the album called agreatchaos. From teasing tracks to previewing some deluxe-specific merchandise, Carson was adamant to get this done. Well, today is that day as he had added on seven tracks, with “overseas” being the only single from the bunch.

The fresh titles include “loading”, “more chaos”, “toxic”, “leather jacket”, “mewtwo”, and “ss”. None of them mess up the sequencing, as they are placed after track 18, “i need u”. However, if you are an Apple Music listener, there are actually 28 songs. However, the three extra add-ons are music videos for “Succubus”, “Fighting My Demons”, and “Jennifer’s Body”. All of these additions are out at just the right time for Ken Carson. He will be heading out on a lengthy Chaos World Tour starting on July 8. Orlando, Florida will get the first taste of him live, and Prague will be the last ones to experience the chaos on October 5.

Ken Carson Travels The Globe On Glitchy New Single “Overseas”

Ken Carson is back. The rapper recently announced plans to release an Xbox Series X collaboration, but he’s back on his musical grind with “Overseas.” The single provides fans with an update on Carson’s life, which has largely be spent touring the world. Fans have heard rappers talk about their time away from home before, but Carson’s frantic flow and vivid rhymes gives it a unique twist. There are even bars dedicated to his upcoming European tour.

Carson quickly makes the travel theme of the track clear. He name drops a number of different places around the world, including London, Paris, and Amsterdam, which are the first three stops on his 2024 tour. The rapper goes on to drop standard bars about women and flossing on his enemies, but the track really comes into focus when he reflects on his past. Carson raps about what he would tell his younger self if he had the chance, and how things have changed since he blew up. “I wish I could go back in time to tell myself, ‘Your nеck gon’ freeze’,” he notes. “I wish I could go back in time to tell myself, ‘Don’t change a thing’.”

I wish I could go back in time to tell myself, ‘You gon’ be rich’

Everyday I wake up, I’m feelin’ myself, like Bey’ and Nicki
I just bit her, yeah, I just bit her, I have her a hick’
I take her shoppin’ all the time, but that’s my girl so I ain’t trippin’

Ken Carson Collaborates With Xbox On Limited Edition Series X

Ken Carson continues to make waves. The rapper is collaborating with Xbox on a Series X release that features his recognizable “X” logo on the console. Carson isn’t the first artist to link up with Microsoft for a themed release, but the scarcity of the Series X consoles are going to seriously impact demand. There are only going to be 50 released, which means the resale on the rapper’s collab is going to be through the roof.

The details on the Carson/Xbox collab are still scarce, but TikTok users have pointed out that the console has been tailored to reflect the rapper’s style. The controller has been getting most of the attention, and rightfully so, according to user Omerstech. The video game TikToker pointed out that Carson’s controller has been iced out with a sleek new design. “I think he iced out the Xbox controller,” Omerstetch noted. “Those are all like little diamonds.” He also noted a zipper designed on the side of the controller. The console comes with a numbered briefcase emblazoned with Ken Carson’s “X” logo.

Xbox Will Only Release 50 Of Carson’s Consoles

Carson has been vocal in his love for video games throughout his career. The rapper recently sat down for a Mixed Tunes interview alongside label mate Destroy Lonely, and the two of them debated which of their favorite games were better. The latter opted for Call of Duty, but Carson picked Grand Theft Auto. “It’s just like life,” he reasoned. “I feel like that’s the realest game. You can do literally anything you want.” Carson went as far as to liken his experiences in Atlanta to playing GTA. “Every time someone asks me what’s Atlanta like I be like, Grand Theft Auto,” he added.

Ken Carson’s Xbox collaboration could not arrive at a better time. The rapper received the best reviews of his career following the release of his second album, 2023’s A Great Chaos. He’s also going on tour with Kid Cudi and Red Hot Chili Peppers throughout most of 2024. The tour kicks off May 30 in Washington. The Cudi link-up is an especially poignant one for Carson, as the “Man on the Moon” is one of his biggest musical influences.

Playboi Carti’s ‘Antagonist’ Tour Was Reportedly Canceled After Multiple Delays

Bad news for Playboi Carti fans hoping to see him and his Opium cohorts Destroy Lonely, Ken Carson and Homixide Gang on tour this year: The Atlanta rapper’s Antagonist tour has reportedly been canceled, according to Complex. Fans were apparently notified via email after multiple delays, however, Complex‘s report does not offer a reason for the cancelation.

The tour would have been Carti’s first since 2021’s King Vamp Tour, as well as his second since releasing his most recent album, 2020’s Whole Lotta Red. While the rapper has made periodic appearances on other artists’ albums, including Kanye West’s Vultures 1, Travis Scott’s Utopia, and Future and Metro Boomin’s We Don’t Trust You, his long-awaited album Music does not have a release date after being promised in January.

Suffering through unexplained postponements has long been a feature of Playboi Carti fandom, as he infamously pushed back Whole Lotta Red so many times, fans like Mario Judah trolled him by releasing their own projects with the same title. He’s been teasing Music since the holidays in 2022, but despite releasing a string of singles including “H00DByAir” and “Backr00ms” with Travis Scott, he’s still yet to drop a release date for the album. Whether his tour cancelation counts as a setback or sign of increased focus remains to be seen.

Bad Bunny’s First Week Sales Lower Than Projected, Offset & Ken Carson Do Impressive Numbers

October has undeniably been one of the biggest months that rap has had in 2023 so far, namely due to the long-awaited arrival of Drake’s For All The Dogs. When the father of one finally put that out for his fans, many others felt more comfortable sharing their work, knowing they wouldn’t disappear beneath Drizzy. The next weekend, Bad Bunny shared his surprise LP, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Manana, which was initially projected to sell 200 – 225K copies in its first week out.

On Friday (October 20), the final numbers came in, revealing that Benito fell short of Hits Daily Double‘s estimate by a few thousand. Instead, his album moved 8K in pure sales plus 174K in streaming, totalling 183K. Elsewhere in the world of hip-hop, Offset impressed us by selling 70K album-equivalent units of his latest solo project, SET IT OFF. Far more of his came from pure sales (26K) than we saw with Bunny, crediting just 43K to streaming.

Bad Bunny’s Surprise Album Sells 183K

Bad Bunny’s ‘nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana’ sells 183K, Offset’s ‘SET IT OFF’ sells 70K, Ken Carson’s ‘A Great Chaos’ sells 49K, Westside Gunn’s ‘And Then They Pray For You’ sells 20K
byu/DropWatcher inhiphopheads

We also saw noteworthy efforts from Ken Carson and Westside Gunn appear on this week’s chart. The former sold 49K copies of A Great Chaos, while the latter moved 20K of And Then They Pray For You. The Griselda hitmaker faced some backlash over his work, but he was quick to address the haters on social media before focusing energy back on his big plans for the future.

Carson impressed plenty of music lovers with his A Great Chaos project, including Drake. The Canadian gave him a co-sign on Instagram, which obviously means the world to an up-and-comer at this time. Read more about that at the link below, and let us know which new album from October has been your favourite so far in the comments.

Playboi Carti Shows Up To Ken Carson’s Album Listening Party

Playboi Carti fans are taking just about anything they can get. The rapper hasn’t released any new material since 2020 when he surprise dropped Whole Lotta Red in December. Fans were expecting some new material later this year when Carti and his entire Opium label announced a tour. But that tour has since been delayed and it seems less and less likely each week that Carti will drop this year. He even had a verse he recorded taken off of the new Offset album after he allegedly refused to clear it.

But in the mean time, one of Carti’s label mates just released a new album that could potentially tide fans over for a bit. Ken Carson just dropped his new album A Great Chaos which contains a trio of Destroy Lonely appearances and a Lil Uzi Vert guest spot. Carti himself doesn’t appear on the project but he did show up at the album’s listening party overnight. In a video shared to Instagram Carti seems to be enjoying himself with fans while they hear the music for the first time. Check out the video below.

Playboi Carti At Ken Carson Listening Party

In the comments, fans mostly discuss how much they’re enjoying the new Ken Carson project. “Ken just dropped da greatest sh*t i ever heard,” one of the top comments reads. “Best album dropped this decade,” someone else agrees. Elsewhere fans are hyping up Carti as starting his own wave with the artists he has signed to his label.

Whenever Playboi Carti does eventually drop fans are expecting his track “Killers” to be included. After a radio debut ultimately fell through earlier this year, the song made its debut during Drake’s recent takeover of OVO radio. Despite already leaking months ago fans are still excited at the prospect of hearing the final version of the track. What do you think of Playboi Carti turning up and sharing videos from Ken Carson’s album listening party in NYC? Let us know in the comment section below.
