Lizzo Says She Was ‘Deeply Hurt’ And ‘Blindsided’ By Her Ex-Dancers’ Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Filing

In 2023, three of Lizzo’s former dancers filed a lawsuit accusing her of sexual harassment and fostering a hostile work environment. Although the “Bad Day” singer released a statement denying the allegations, Lizzo hasn’t publicly addressed the ongoing case any further — until now.

Yesterday (December 19), Lizzo spoke out on the uphill legal battle during her appearance on the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast. When asked about the matter by host Keke Palmer, Lizzo emotionally professed she felt “blindsided” and it “deeply hurt.”

“I was literally living in my dream, and then the tour ended, and three ex-dancers just completely, like, blindsided me with a lawsuit,” she said. “I was very deeply hurt because these were three ex-dancers, so they weren’t on the tour. They didn’t, like, finish the tour out with us. But even regardless of that, these were people that I gave opportunities to.”

Lizzo went on to talk about her rapport with the complainants prior to the filing, saying, “These were people that, I liked them and appreciated them as dancers, respected them as dancers. So I was like, what? But then I heard all the other things like sexual harassment, and I was like, they’re trying well, I don’t know what they’re trying to do, but these are the types of things that the media can turn into something that it’s not.”

She closed by doubling down on her claim of innocence, saying, “Let’s be clear, I did nothing wrong.”

In addition to the case with her former dancers, Lizzo was also sued by her ex-wardrobe assistant Asha Daniels, who made similar allegations as the dancers. During the interview, Lizzo echoed reports that she was granted a partial dismissal. However, Daniels’ lawyer Ron Zambrano refuted that in a statement to People.

“The lawsuit is still very active and has not been dismissed,” he said. “The ruling was not for lack of evidence, but rather on procedural jurisdictional grounds. It by no means absolves Lizzo of the egregious claims that occurred on her watch.”

According to a new video circulating social media, Darius Jackson, Keke Palmer‘s ex-boyfriend and the father of her son, has enlisted in the U.S. Army. A livestream clip involving Jackson, 30, and a few others surfaced on Sunday (Dec. 8), with him explaining his plans in the service. Jackson shares that he signed a four-year contract but contemplates completing 20 years. “I’m four right now because I have some plans after this,” says Darius. “But I want to see how my experience is… I don’t know yet.”

The information surrounding Darius Jackson’s enlistment is vague. He does mention his son in the conversation with plans to stay in the service to supply him with future benefits. “I paid attention in that finance class,” he said when it was brought up that children get benefits for 20 years of service. “I was thinking, ‘I see why people just go ahead and do it… I’m indecisive right now, tho.” Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson broke up in November 2023. They co-parent their son born in February 2023.

In October, Keke Palmer detailed her “unhealthy relationship” with Jackson to People. “There was a lot going on,” she reflects. “The relationship had become unhappy and unhealthy.” After establishing joint custody of their son, she shares a new different perspective on the relationship. Reflecting on the experience, she writes in her book, “I wish I could say he was terrible the entire time, or that I was. But it wasn’t that simple.” Her goal, she says, is to ensure her son grows up with a balanced understanding of his parents. “I didn’t want my son to think his father is a monster—because I don’t.”

Palmer stars in the upcoming comedy film One of Them Days, co-starring SZA. The film, which features Kat Williams and is produced by Issa Rae, will hit theaters nationwide on January 24. SZA promised a new album in 2024.

With that in mind, we have no idea why he would choose to reveal via his Instagram Story that he almost forgot their son Leodis’ birthday. “Took Leodis to his doctor’s appointment back in September & barely knew his date of birth..” Jackson wrote. “His mom was on speed dial & the nanny also helped answer the other questions. But we got it done! Which is all that matters.” It was back in September, Darius; why do you do this to yourself?!

Jokes aside, people took this a lot more seriously than they probably should, thanks to the context of Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson’s relationship. “It got so out of control,” the former told PEOPLE of their extinguished bond. “The only way I knew how to bring order was through the court. […] Not just with my romantic relationships, but with family and friends, [my fame has] always become a burden. Too many voices get in. It can make everybody else not trust you. However, it’s important to note that Darius Jackson and Keke Palmer are in a much better place now and are very happy for each other in the public eye. In fact, it seems like the two want to commit to a healthy and cooperative coparenting relationship when it comes to their baby boy Leodis, as they went out for a zoo trip earlier this year after their public falling-out. Of course, fans continue to debate whether these signs of goodwill owe themselves to a genuine desire to heal or to their wishes to clean up their act on social media.

But frankly, that’s an irrelevant conversation that’s none of our business. The important thing is that Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson seemingly moved past the more serious parts of their allegations against each other and feel comfortable with supporting each other through this new phase of their intertwined lives. Keke Palmer was Shannon Sharpe’s most recent guest on his Club Shay Shay podcast, hopping on the platform in an interview published Wednesday (November 20). Of course, they talked about their careers and their experiences a lot, as she mentioned a film she worked on in which she played a younger female character involved with an older man. “You like them older, huh?” Sharpe joked, which led to cackles from them both before Keke hit him with the ultimate clap-back: “That’s what Michelle said!” The interviewer and his colleagues started going ballistic, and she seemed quite proud of herself for the quip.

For those unaware, Keke Palmer referred to Shannon Sharpe’s viral and now infamous sex tape scandal that happened on Instagram Live. There are a few different possible interpretations of this, but basically, he accidentally went Live on the social media platform while he was having intimate relations with a woman he referred to as Michelle. They didn’t actually show up on the screen, but you could hear them in the livestream. Some thought it was fake, others thought he was being honest, but pretty much everyone found the Internet discussion that it provoked at least a little funny.

SZA, Keke Palmer & Katt Williams Star In New “One Of Them Days” Trailer

One Of Them Days is scheduled to release on January 24, and we just got a new trailer for the comedy film that shows how zany it could turn out. For those unaware, the film stars SZA and Keke Palmer and revolves around their characters’ quest to improve their financial situation and deal with all the hassles of being roommates. Additional performances come courtesy of Katt Williams, Maude Apatow, Janelle James, and more as oddball personalities that the main duo comes across. Also, Issa Rae produced this flick, so there are a lot of reasons to be excited. It looks pretty funny, with a style that seems ripped right out of the 2000s era of blockbuster gut-busters.

With all these personalities on-screen, you can imagine that they all had a lot of fun on set as they got to know each other and collaborate. But perhaps some colleagues got closer in ways that they didn’t expect. If you hadn’t already heard, Harper’s BAZAAR recently published an interview between Kendrick Lamar and SZA that’s generating a lot of conversation right now. During it, she revealed a curious anecdote about working with Katt Williams.

Angela Simmons Reveals Heartbreaking Way Her Son Learned About His Dad’s Murder

During her recent appearance on Baby This Is Keke Palmer, Angela Simmons opened up about the murder of her son’s father, Sutton Tennyson. Tennyson was shot and killed outside of his Atlanta home in 2018. Prior to Tennyson’s passing, he and Simmons welcomed a son named Sutton Joseph Jr. in 2016. Unfortunately, Simmons was unable to control how the child learned about his dad’s death.

In a clip from the podcast, Simmons recalls getting a call from her son asking about the shooting. “He gets on the phone with me and he’s bawling and he’s like ‘I don’t know why he’s not here, but why would somebody shoot him?’” she explained. The next day, she learned that he’d been searching for information about his father’s passing online. “Someone murdered him?” she remembers him asking.

The individual responsible for Tennyson’s death, Michael Williams, was sentenced to life in prison in 2022. Simmons delivered an emotional speech in court after the verdict was read. SZA’s R-Rated Comedy With Keke Palmer Doesn’t Have A Title, But It Does Have A Release Date

Kendrick Lamar isn’t the only current or former member of the Top Dawg Entertainment family with a movie coming out next year.

An R-rated buddy comedy starring SZA and Keke Palmer will release in theaters on January 24, 2025. There’s no official title or even plot details yet, but Variety reports that the cast also includes Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, Joshua Neal, Aziza Scott, Patrick Cage, and Amin Joseph. Lawrence Lamont is attached as director, while Rap Sh!t showrunner Syreeta Singleton wrote the screenplay.

Palmer and SZA previously teamed up in 2022 when the Nope actress hosted SNL with the “Kill Bill” singer as her musical guest.

SZA is currently working on her third studio album, Lana, and first since 2022’s SOS broke records.

“You know, this round, I actually don’t want to say anything,” she told The Hollywood Reporter when asked about the album earlier this year. “Just because I feel like I do myself a disservice because you can shift the energy of the album. You got to let it form itself. Because I’m not really forming anything. I’m just kind of here while energy is forming and I’m just trying to allow it to do what it needs to do, and my voice just follows whatever the frequency is. So I feel like I want to allow it to finish shaping itself and form itself before I speak on it and possibly change the trajectory of what it could be. But I will say I’m in a beautiful space creatively and I feel just very new.”

Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson have had a very difficult relationship trajectory, but it seems like things are healing for them in at least one way. Moreover, a new picture surfaced online of the couple with their son Leodis, the first one of them that came out since their since-dropped mutual abuse allegations from November and December of last year. Their son’s Instagram page recently posted about a trip to the zoo that this photo might be from. “I had a fun day at the zoo! I’m grateful. Hope you guys had a good weekend,” the caption read, although neither Palmer nor Jackson have said anything about their outing on their social media pages.

Furthermore, this got a lot of fans speculating as to whether or not the two are just coparenting or if they’re actually back together. Fans seem quite skeptical in general, but everyone can agree that it’s healthier and better for Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson to at least be amicable for the sake of their son. What’s more is that both seem to have moved on from the whole contentious situation, whether in personal or in rumored romantic terms. For example, Palmer sparked dating rumors with Duke Riley.

Elsewhere, even Sarunas Jackson (Darius’ brother) got roped into this whole scandal, as he filed for a restraining order against Keke Palmer and her mother Sharon. “God bless him, but this clout chasing must stop,” Sharon responded to his claims of harassment. In addition, she also shared that she is “totally confused” as to why Sarunas is “trying to serve someone who never wants to see him again ever in life.”

Meanwhile, this follows some disparaging comments from both parties, including Darius Jackson’s February rant blasting his custody battle with Keke Palmer. “I feel for the dads that gave up when it came to custody,” he shared. “It’s mentally, emotionally & physically draining. You’ll lose yourself. My spirit is too strong to give up. But I totally understand. I have pondered it. Thank God I have an amazing circle. For those who don’t have kids & this is something that I will emphasize to my son. Wait til marriage & make sure God is the center of your relationship. There’s a rule book that’s been given to us thousands of years ago. Best to follow it. Cause everything else leads to chaos.”
