Jennifer Lopez Drops First Trailer For Semi-Biographical “This Is Me…Now”

Jennifer Lopez has released the first trailer for This Is Me…Now, a semi-biographical retelling of her much-publicized love life. Starring Lopez, as well as her husband Ben Affleck, the project is part-biopic, part-visual album. It will follow the ups and downs of Lopez’s love life, especially through the lens of how people external to Lopez perceived her relationships. The trailer hints at some of the massive music numbers the film will include. One appears to take place around a steampunk heart. Another appears to take place at one of Lopez’s weddings.

Lopez is joined by a star-studded cast that includes Keke Palmer and Sofia Vergara. Fat Joe also appears to play the role of Lopez’s therapist. Other musical stars teased include Kim Petras and Post Malone. And of course, Lopez’s own musical will feature heavily. A Prime exclusive, This Is Me…Now drops on February 16. Jennifer Lopez Looks To Move On From The Mother

Furthermore, This Is Me…Now is Lopez’s first on-screen appearance since 2023’s The Mother. The Netflix original saw Lopez playing an anonymous assassin who must protect the daughter she once gave up for adoption. The film pitted Lopez against a villain played by Joseph Fiennes and was written by Lovecraft Country showrunner Misha Green. It was a major step towards action for Lopez, who was better known for her comedic work (Shotgun Wedding) and drama work (Hustlers). Netflix had previously found success with films like Extraction, which filled a similar sub-genre.

However, the film received a mixed reaction upon release. The Mother received a 43% critic rating and 62% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While Lopez’s performance was praised, the film was too generic to really stand out. Oprah Winfrey Reveals Who The Studio Execs Wanted To Cast In “The Color Purple” As New Trailer Drops

Oprah Winfrey has said that when she first approached studios with a pitch to remake The Color Purple, the studio heads wanted to cast someone like Beyonce or Rihanna in the film. “To be completely honest about it, if you were doing this film for $30 or $40 million, the interest in the cast would be very different. Once the film moved to $90 to $100 million, then everybody wants us to bring Beyoncé. Can you get Beyoncé or can you get Rihanna?’ So we’re sitting in a room saying, ‘Listen, we love Beyoncé. We love Rihanna, but there are other actors who can do this job.’ I do remember conversations about, ‘Y’all, Beyoncé is going to be busy this year.’ It wasn’t even a negotiation, because you’re not getting Beyoncé,” Winfrey told The Hollywood Reporter.

Instead, Winfrey was able to assemble an all-star ensemble cast. The film stars Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, H.E.R., and Halle Bailey just to name a few. The film is being helmed by Blitz the Ambassador, the Ghanian musician and director. He has previously released 2018’s Death of Kojo and the Lion King visual companion Black is King. The screenplay comes from playwright Marcus Gardley.

The Color Purple Gets A New Trailer

Meanwhile, this week saw a new trailer drop for The Color Purple. Due out on Christmas Day, the film is the most recent reimagining of the seminal novel by Alice Walker. After Walker wrote the book in 1982, it was quickly turned into a film in 1985. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg and served as Winfrey’s breakout role. In 2005, an adaptation opened on Broadway and was revived in 2015. This year’s film is more of an adaptation of the musical than the original novel.

The story follows Cellie (Fantasia) and her journey as a Black woman through the early 20th Century. The story covers a lot of heavy topics, such as racism and incest. The story’s heart is the relationship between Cellie and her sister Nettie (Ciara) and has long endured as one of the great American stories of the late 20th Century. Beyonce Unveils Epic “Renaissance World Tour” Movie Trailer: Watch

There is some major breaking news coming from Beyonce and her team. The Houston, Texas singing icon is just a few months away from giving fans the Renaissance World Tour experience in movie theaters. We got word about a possible release date of December 1 on September 30, but now, that day is now official. Fader reports that pre-sales at chains including AMC, Regal, and Cinemark are open now. Originally, it was reported that only AMC would be playing the movie but the two other massive theater chains join in as well.

Beyonce titled the film Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce. What will be interesting to see is how it competes with the opposing empire, Taylor Swift. Her motion picture, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, will hit theaters very soon on October 13. Both artists are brands now, essentially, and each one has die-hard supporters. We have seen plenty of box office smashes when it comes to tour flicks and these should be as well.

If it is a box office success, Beyonce will be walking away with tons of revenue as she is expected to receive half of the earnings. The December 1 premiere date is official because of the trailer for the feature Beyonce dropped. It is just over two minutes but it will send chills down your spine. Some things fans will see are concert footage from the tour, music videos, and documentary footage captured during the album’s creation. “I feel liberated, I have transitioned into a new animal,” Queen B says in the trailer. Jay-Z Returns To Instagram To Promote New Movie

Jay-Z is serving as the executive producer on an upcoming new movie called The Book Of Clarence. The historical fiction period piece stars LaKeith Stanfield as a man who goes on his own quest for religious divinity inspired by Jesus. Fans are talking about the movie now because Jay-Z returned with a whole new Instagram account in order to promote the film. His account has already racked up over 33k followers in just a few hours with the post itself over currently sitting at over 17k likes. In the caption of the post Hov keeps it simple, “The Book Of Clarence
January 2024.”

While this is a new account for Jay-Z, it isn’t the first time he’s joined the platform. Back in 2021, he opened up a new Instagram account for an almost identical reason. That time he was promoting another film he executive produced called The Harder They Fall. After posting some promotional material from the film he deleted the account just a day later. In that span, he had racked up over 800k followers. The Harder They Fall netted mostly positive reviews from critics when it was released on Netflix in 2021. Clarence features some of the same actors and crew from that film on board again and is scheduled to be released in January of 2024.

Earlier this year Jay-Z was involved in another big project. The Brooklyn Public Library opened up an exhibition paying tribute to the legendary rapper’s career. The “Book Of Hov” exhibit proved to be a hit and was extended all the way into October.

A24 is a film studio famous for bold ideas. They’ve notoriously let a number of auteurs indulge in some of the strangest films of the past decade. But they’ve also released their fair share of critical darlings. That includes two best picture winners in Moonlight and Everything Everywhere All At Once. They’ve also got a bit of history working with rappers. Two years ago they announced that they were working on a mysterious new project with Travis Scott. Many believe that project turned out to be Circus Maximus, the film Scott released with his new album UTOPIA. While the film did come with an A24 logo the studio has also reportedly put some distance between themselves and the project.

Now A24 has shared a trailer for another new film featuring one of the biggest stars in rap. D*cks: The Musical is the indie studio’s first musical outing and the official synopsis makes it sound pretty wild. “Two self-obsessed businessmen (writers Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp) discover they’re long-lost identical twins and come together to plot the reunion of their eccentric divorced parents, in this riotously funny and depraved musical from comedy icon Larry Charles (Seinfeld, Borat) also starring Megan Thee Stallion, Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, and Bowen Yang as God.” While the cast has all kinds of notable names many fans have honed in on Megan Thee Stallion. Sex has made a roaring, vibrant return to mainstream cinema in 2023. From Sanctuary to Infinity Pool to Bottoms, Hollywood is allowing itself to be all shades of horny again. Meanwhile, Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagino has become famous for his boundary-pushing takes on romance, sexuality, and sensuality. His most notable works include the LGBT romance Call Me By Your Name, the psychosexual horror remake Suspiria, and the Timothée Chalamet-led horror-romance Bones and All.

Zendaya embracing sexual roles is hardly anything new. The former Disney Channel star, who also appears in the family-friendly Marvel Spider-Man films, cut her teeth on more risque roles by headlining HBO’s Euphoria. However, her latest role, which pairs her with Guadagino, really has fans talking.

“Challengers” Trailer Teases Zendaya-Centric Threesome

Challengers is billed as a sports romance set for release later in 2023. The film centers around Tashi (Zendaya), a tennis pro who turns to coaching after suffering a that cuts her career short. After a threesome with two other pros, the film is actually set years after that steamy event. Tashi is now married to (and coaching) Art (Mike Faist). Playing in an ATP Challengers event, Art is drawn against Patrick (Josh O’Connor), the third corner of the threesome and Tashi’s former boyfriend. Additionally, the film blends tennis with a classic love triangle and promises to bring Guadagino’s patented style to the proceedings.

The first trailer has a heavy focus on the teenage threesome, which serves a core moment of the film. The height of the trailer’s first act is a tantalizing image of Zendaya smirking mischievously up at the camera while Rihanna’s “S&M” plays in the background. It’s an artfully edited teaser that’s sure to get fans in theatres. “I think those three characters in that movie are beautifully complex and really fucked-up people that I love very much,” Guadagino told IndieWire last year. But the whole idea of Zendaya being not just involved, but actively instigating, a threesome on camera, has got fans going absolutely wild.

50 Cent Stars In Highly Anticipated “Expendables 4” Trailer

The trailer for the upcoming fourth film in the “Expendables” series, titled EXPEND4BLES has been released. While much of the attention paid to new cast members was pointed in the direction of Megan Fox, there was also another surprise special guest. Rapper 50 Cent, whose no stranger to movie roles has officially been confirmed for the film. 50 posted a teaser related to this film to his Instagram earlier this week with a caption that had fans salivating. “You’re not gonna wanna miss this,” says the post which debuted the poster for the upcoming film.

It’s been nine years since the previous expendables film came out, the franchise’s third entry. After the film, Sylvester Stallone left the franchise due to unspecified creative differences. Thankfully, Stallone is back for the fourth film. The movie is slated to drop later this year on September 22nd. The plot seems to revolve around the various action heroes taking on terrorists with plans to deploy nuclear weapons. Further details are likely to be revealed in future trailers.

50 Cent Becomes An Expendable

Reports that Megan Fox and 50 Cent were slated to join the cast go WAY back. Though the film has taken a pretty long journey to get here it looks like the spectacle it’s delivering will be worth it. Joining Stallone, 50, and Megan Fox in the film is an all-star cast of heroes. Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Andy Garcia, Tony Jaa, and more are also set to appear in the new movie. Also joining the franchise is Need For Speed director Scott Waugh who directed EXPEND4BLES.

Despite being pretty quiet on the music front, 50 finds a way to stay in the headlines. He hasn’t released anything new in 2023 musically and last year he dropped just one new single with Lil Durk and Jeremih. Marshawn Lynch Is A Queer Ally In High School Sex Comedy “Bottoms”

Bottoms is one of the most hotly-anticipated films of 2023. A reunion of director Emma Seligman and actress Rachel Sennott (who first teamed up for the 2020’s Shiva Baby), the film is a re-invention of the teen sex comedy genre. The genre which gave us films like American Pie, Van Wilder, Superbad, and Porky’s has stagnated in recent years. However, Seligman is determined to reinvent the genre with an infusion of queerness, feminism, and letting high school girls be horny weirdos.

Sennott and Ayo Edebiri (Big Mouth, The Bear) play PJ and Josie, two queer high school seniors who start a self-defense club for women after being accused of hitting the school’s star quarterback with their car. In actuality, PJ and Josie are hoping that the club will allow them to get close to their crushes, who are currently members of the cheer squad. After premiering at Sundance earlier this year, the film finally has its first trailer. Furthermore, stepping into a surprise supporting role is former NFL star, Marshawn Lynch.

“Bottoms” Give Us Queer Weirdos And Ally Marshawn Lynch

As mentioned, Bottoms follows PJ and Josie’s journey to try and get some girl-on-girl action with their cheerleader crushes. Finding themselves at the very bottom of the social ladder, an unfortunate encounter with Jeff, the school’s star quarterback, leads them to mitigate disaster with the foundation of a self-defense club.

The club quickly becomes, as many have dubbed the film as a whole, “gay fight club” and quickly begins to mutate beyond the original vision that PJ and Josie had. The trailer features all-girl hit squads, plenty of violence, and Marshawn Lynch. Lynch plays Mr. G, a teacher at the school and the club sponsor for the gay fight club. While a little unclear from the trailer, Lynch appears to be part-ally, part-enabler for both the club and the plan of the protagonists. However, he is sure to be a great addition to the cast, given his natural comedic talent. For real, Lynch is a hilarious actor and is sure to add an additional little spark to Bottoms. Prepare yourself for some messy high schoolers and queer chaos when Bottoms drops on August 25.

“Run Rabbit Run” Asks What If The Dead Could Come Back

It’s a great year for horror films about things coming back from the other side. Insidious: The Red Door returns to the roots of the seminal 2010s franchise. Meanwhile, Talk To Me turns communing with spirits into an allegory for addiction and the desire for social media fame. Overall, 2023 has been a fantastic year for horror. However, the “spirits come back to the world of the living” genre is in something of a golden age.

Then there’s Run Rabbit Run. From Australian director Daina Reid, the film explores the possibility of returning from death through the eyes of a mother-daughter relationship. The film was written by Australian novelist Hannah Kent (Burial Rites, The Good People). Run Rabbit Run premiered at Sundance. However, early critics’ reviews have not been kind to the film. It currently holds a 38% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Run Rabbit Run” Blurs The Line Between Illness And Possession

Sarah Snook (Succession) stars as Sarah, a single mother whose sister went missing as a little girl. After her daughter Mia (Lily LaTorre) asks if people can come back from the dead, Sarah opens up about her missing sister, Alice. At this point, strange occurrences begin to spring up about the mother and daughter. Sarah tells Mia that Alice loved animals and would have bring home wild rabbits. Sure enough, she comes home one day to find a wild rabbit in the house. She mentions that Alice was seven when she disappeared, only for Mia to remind her that she’s seven.

However, things really start to go off the rails when Sarah wakes up to find Mia standing at the foot of her bed wearing a crude rabbit mask. Before too long, Mia is starting to claim that she is in fact, Alice. As the trailer continues, Sarah begins to unravel as her life becomes more and more unstable. Is Mia unwell? Or is Alice actually back? Furthermore, what is Sarah keeping to herself about Alice’s disappearance? With plenty of connections to Alice in Wonderland, prepare yourself for a psychological thrill ride. Run Rabbit Run comes to Netflix on June 28.

“Flamin’ Hot” Tells The Story Of America’s Favorite Spicy Chip

Do you know how Flamin’ Hot Cheetos were invented? According to Richard Montañez, he invented them while working as a janitor at a Frito-Lay factory in Rancho Cucamonga. He was inspired by the spicy flavors of Latine street food and then took the bold step of calling the chief executive of Frito-Lay himself. He went from janitor to executive to motivational speaker by embracing his heritage and believing in himself. The debut of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos came at a time when PepsiCo was fighting for its life on multiple fronts of the food and beverage market. The company needed a product that could compete with the Anheuser-Busch-owned Eagle Snacks brand.

Now, there are claims that his story is a complete fabrication. Frito-Lay claims that the iconic, neon-red chip was created by a product committee in 1989. This was in order to fight Eagle Snacks in the Midwest. More specifically, it was in order to capitalize on the rise of inner-city bodegas. To be clear, Montañez did rise from plant worker to marketing director. Frito-Lay just refutes that he invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. But where’s the fun in corporate brand marketing?

“Flamin’ Hot” Tells Montañez’s Side Of The Story

Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) brings Montañez’s origin story of the Flamin’ Hot Cheeto to life in her directorial debut. This is the story of a former gang member trying to turn his life around. With the Frito-Lay factory where he works under threat of closure, Montañez embraces the “it burns in a good way” spiciness of Latine cuisine to create a snack that will save the factory.

Jesse Garcia (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) stars as Montañez. He’s a family man with a troubled past and a heart of gold. Annie Gonzalez stars as Montañez’s ever-supportive wife, Judy. Additionally, there are big-name actors in major supporting roles. Dennis Haysbert (Far From Heaven, 24) plays Clarence, a fellow janitor who helps Montañez find his courage. Meanwhile, Tony Shalhoub (Monk, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) takes on the role of Pepsico executive and Cheetos brand manager, Roger Enrico. While its authenticity may be questionable, Flamin’ Hot is set to be a heart-warming and tongue-tingling look at believing in yourself. Flamin’ Hot comes to Hulu on June 9.
