Jordan Poole Scores 34 But Can’t Escape Mockery In Lakers Loss

Jordan Poole had a season-high 34 points but couldn’t escape the wrath of social media as the Wizards lost by three to the Lakers. Fans eagerly shared clips of Poole missing a game-tying shot as well as being the victim of a LeBron James chase-down block. However, as mentioned, Poole notched a season-high in scoring as the Wizards managed to run with the surging Lakers.

Three other Wizards reached 20 points in the monumental effort by one of the worst teams in the NBA. Meanwhile, LeBron and Anthony Davis combined for 71 points in the win. LA has now won two in a row, as the Wizards win follows their huge comeback effort against the Clippers earlier this week. Furthermore, the game against Washington was the start of a five-game homestand for LA, which continues against Denver on Saturday. The Wizards, who have now lost 13 in a row, are next in action against the Clippers this weekend.

Jordan Poole Contract Labeled “One Of The Worst In the NBA Right Now”

However, several anonymous NBA teams recently called Poole’s fully guaranteed four-year $128M contract “one of the worst in the league right now”, according to ESPN‘s Bobby Marks. Poole was meant to become the face of a new-look Wizards team but has not lived up to expectations. Putting up 16/2.5/3.7, Poole is a mediocre leader on one of the league’s worst teams. And yet, because Poole’s contract is guaranteed, the Wizards are stuck with him. Furthermore, they will likely owe him a further $2M for playing at least 65 games per season, a necessity because they have no one better to sub in as things stand.

Criticism of Poole has only increased in recent months as he has struggled to make his presence on the league known. Kevin Garnett went as far as to state that Poole “did not belong in the league.” Do you think the criticism of Poole is fair? Or do you think people are too harsh on the 24-year-old? Let us know in the comments.

Jordan Poole Booed For 0-Point Game

Earlier this month, home fans booed him for a 0-point game against the Cavs. Poole went 0-5 from the field and 0-4 from three as the Wizards fell 114-106 for their 41st loss of the season. Poole did have 2 rebounds and 5 assists but that was far from enough to silence the frustrated home crowd. Kyle Kuzma and Corey Kispert combined for 51 points as the Wizards kept it close. Meanwhile, the Cavs were led by a 40-point performance from Donovan Mitchell to improve to 33-16.

After being traded to Washington, Poole has had a wild season. There have been flashy alley-oops to himself while down 20. He annoyed his teammates by calling his own shot multiple times in the preseason. However, he also simply epitomizes the mediocrity of a Wizards team that seemingly has no desire to improve. With his current stat line, he is the best player on a bad team but is not the “best player” in the same way that LeBron was the best player on those bad Cavs teams.

Kevin Garnett Says Jordan Poole “Does Not Belong In The League”

Meanwhile, it’s not just fans who are frustrated with Poole. Last November, Kevin Garnett also took aim at Poole. Speaking on his show on Showtime, Garnett spent several minutes roasting Poole, eventually saying “he does not belong in the league”. Garnett questioned Poole’s professionalism, as well as his myriad antics that have already occurred during the early weeks of the NBA season.

However, one person who seemingly has Poole’s back is Andre Iguodala. In a September podcast appearance with JJ Redick, Iguodala reflected on the less-than-ideal role that Poole had to play for the Warriors. In short, Iguodala summarized that the Warriors were built around Steph, Klay, and Draymond. Poole, who would often play off the bench, was expected to play without the freedom or the eccentricities afforded to the team’s Big Three. If Draymond was having a wild night with errant passes and the like, Poole had to be perfect. If Steph was cold from three, Poole had to be hot. In Iguodala’s eyes, Poole had to play clean-up to whatever the Big Three wasn’t doing on any particular night.

Kevin Garnett Blasts Jordan Poole, Says He “Does Not Belong In The League”

Kevin Garnett has become the latest person to put Jordan Poole on blast. Speaking on his show on Showtime, Garnett spent several minutes roasting Poole, eventually saying “he does not belong in the league”. Garnett questioned Poole’s professionalism, as well as his myriad antics that have already occurred during the early weeks of the NBA season.

Poole is seemingly embracing his villain role within the hapless Wizards roster. The season is less than 20 games old and already Poole has several viral moments under this belt. There was a flashy off-the-backboard alley-oop despite the Wizards being down 20. In one game, Poole blatantly ignored his coach drawing up a play during a timeout and then seemed upset that he had no idea what was going on. Finally, and most recently, Poole “walked the ball” up the court, burning valuable seconds during a comeback bid against the Bucks. Why is this notable? Because Poole didn’t appear to realize that walking the ball only freezes the shot clock, not the game clock.

Andre Iguodala Defends Poole

Drafted in 2019 by the Warriors, Poole had four solid seasons with the team. In his final season before being traded to the Wizards, Poole had over 20 points per game. On any other team, Poole would likely have been an instant starter and first-rotation lock. However, it’s always going to be hard to get that consistent playing time with a roster like Golden State’s. Even in his 20.7 ppg season, Poole only started 43 games.

According to Complex, Washington Wizards player Jordan Poole apparently responded to the rumors of him dating Ice Spice, after a kid approached him at a recent meet-and-greet. Fans had been wondering if he took the rising star rapper on an extravagant date.

“Definitely not,” Poole replied, shutting the rumors down directly. “Definitely cap!”

This conversation started after Cam’ron used his It Is What It Is show to toss off some thoughts, claiming that Poole was not only interested in Ice Spice but had a lot to say about how their date was affecting his games. Ice Spice has yet to respond.

“Jordan Poole, you spent $500,000 on an Ice Spice date,” Cam’ron said. “You’re a munch and you’re playing like a f*cking munch. This is not you from last year, bro. Go back to Milwaukee and figure it the f*ck out and get back in the playoffs ’cause you look crazy. ‘Cause I had your back last year!”

“She don’t give a f*ck, she from the Bronx, bro,” he added. “Fordham Road, have you been to Fordham Road? Jordan Poole, next time you go to New York, go around Fordham Road, Concourse, Highbridge, South Bronx. You gone see what you spent $500,000 on and be like, ‘Yo, I was wilding.’”

Jordan Poole Clarifies Ice Spice $500K Date Rumor

Jordan Poole has found himself in a completely new situation this season. Overall, Poole is now one of the stars of the Washington Wizards. Although he was a star in Golden State, it was clear that he didn’t get along with some of the players over there. Among them was Draymond Green who punched him incredibly hard in practice. Now, Poole gets to play alongside Kyle Kuzma, who is much more chill on the court. So far, the team has not been great, but they have certainly been extremely entertaining.

Last year, a rumor surrounding Jordan Poole was making the rounds on social media. This rumor involved none other than Ice Spice and was perpetuated by Cam’ron on It Is What It Is. Essentially, it was said that Poole had spent $500K on a date with Spice. Recently, according to HipHopDX, Poole told a fan that all of these rumors are cap. When the kid asked “is that Ice Spice thing true,” Poole replied: “definitely not.”

Jordan Poole Gives His Take

When Cam’ron brought this up months ago, he was adamant that it was real. “Jordan Poole, you spent $500,000 on an Ice Spice date,” Cam explained. “You’re a munch and you’re playing like a fucking munch. This is not you from last year, bro. Go back to Milwaukee and figure it the fuck out and get back in the playoffs ’cause you look crazy. ‘Cause I had your back last year. You got n****s out here talking ’bout, ‘What was all that Jordan Poole you was poppin’?’ You fuckin a munch. Nah, he’s a munch, ’cause I had his back.”

At this point, Poole isn’t too offended by any of these narratives. Instead, he just wants to have fun and play some basketball. You can tell by his antics on the court that he is, indeed, having a lot of fun. Let us know your thoughts on his response, in the comments section below. Andre Iguodala Claims Jordan Poole Was Lowkey Disrespected By The Warriors

In a recent podcast appearance with JJ Redick, Andre Iguodala spoke about Jordan Poole. Specifically, Iguodala reflected on the less-than-ideal role that Poole had to play for the Warriors. In short, Iguodala summarized that the Warriors were built around Steph, Klay, and Draymond. Draymond Green Seemingly Shades Jordan Poole

A lot of the stories over the summer after Poole was traded was the seemingly reignited beef between him and Draymond Green. While Green feuded with Poole’s father on social media, he also appeared to shade his former teammate on TikTok.

In a TikTok for Bleacher Report, Green jumped on the “roster builder challenge”. Essentially, you have to create an NBA roster using one player from five randomly-selected teams. The video started simply enough, with Green choosing Cavs PG Darius Garland and Utah F Lauri Markkanen. Then came the Wizards as Green’s third team. “Who still on Washington’s team?” Green said with a laugh before taking F Kyle Kuzma. Additionally, Green rounded out his team with Damian Lillard (Blazers) and Bam Adebayo (Heat). When asked how they would do, Green argued that “they should win. But they don’t have me, Steph, or Klay. This is an Eastern Conference team. They lose in the Finals to the Warriors.”

Jordan Poole Addresses Questions About Draymond Green’s Role In His Warriors Departure

Jordan Poole discussed his relationships with his former Warriors teammates while speaking with the media over the weekend. When asked about the role Draymond Green played in his departure following their infamous preseason spat, last year, he said that he’s focused on his current team.

“We’re in Washington now,” Poole told the reporter. “Playing with [Kyle Kuzma], great duo. Being able to really flourish, expand your game and help a new team. Help lead an entire group of guys, it’s a challenge that we’re up for… Everybody’s locked in, wants to be here, start something that we can have that can be special.”

Poole also discussed his relationship with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson specifically. He labeled them the best shooters of all time while revealing that he still feels he can call them any time he needs. “Those are the two greatest shooters of all time, in my opinion, personally,” Poole said. “It’s just things that you learn in practice, in the game, on the road that you wouldn’t be able to learn not being in the mix. And I’m thankful for that. I’m grateful for that. You learn, you apply it to what your skill set [is], the things that you want to be able to be good at.”

“I also built a relationship to where I can ask them. I can text Steph, I can text Klay, I can call them and just have a conversation. That doesn’t leave, that doesn’t go anywhere,” Poole continued. “If anything, I just know the plays that they run.”

Jordan Poole Discusses His Former Teammates

Jordan Poole joined the Wizards as a part of a package trade including Patrick Baldwin Jr., Ryan Rollins, and draft picks. In return, the Warriors acquired Chris Paul.

Steph Curry Says Goodbye To Jordan Poole

Jordan Poole grew into a much-memed fringe starter for the Golden State Warriors. Drafted 28th overall in 2019, Poole worked his way up from G League demotion to starting 43 games (and playing in 82) this past season. Furthermore, he cracked 20 points a game in the most recent campaign. However, he was also absolutely roasted for essentially being invisible during the Warriors’ disappointing playoff run. A lot of people expected the Warriors to move on from Poole after the season.

That expectation came to fruition as a result of the Chris Paul trade. Initially, Paul was traded to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Bradley Beal. However, the Wizards have no need for Paul, nor his massive contact. So the Wizards turned around and flipped Paul to the Warriors in exchange for Poole. He will now play out the four-year contract he signed last season as part of a Washington rebuild. Now one of his former teammates, Steph Curry, has officially said goodbye to him.

Curry’s Goodbye Video Sparks Debate

“So now that the trade is actually final, I thought I’d come on here and say to JP how much I appreciated the four years, brother,” Curry began the video on his Instagram story. “You’re a champion, you grew up right in front of everyone’s faces. You know, that first year where it was rough and everybody, you know. You was just trying to find your way – going to the G League and coming back. Us going 18-5 down the stretch your second year. Us winning a championship your third year. And, ya know, fighting to the end this last year. Can’t wait to see you shine on own and see what you become. And, you know, CP, can’t wait to ride with you brother.”

However, the video has proven divisive. While some think it’s a classy goodbye, others are reading more into it. Curry’s inability to look at the camera, his fairly monotone and disinterested delivery are all being used as “evidence” that this was less a personal message and more of an obligation from the team’s biggest star. Furthermore, it’s not the first time that it’s been suggested that a current Warrior is shading Poole. While supporting Curry at The Match, Draymond Green did the NBA roster-building challenge for a TikTok. When presented with the Wizards, Green opted to choose Kyle Kuzma over the newly-traded Poole.
