Jeff Bezos Net Worth 2023: What Is The Amazon Owner Worth?

In the ever-evolving world of billionaires, Jeff Bezos, the founder and former CEO of Amazon, continues to make headlines. As of 2023, his net worth is estimated to be a staggering $158.5 billion, according to Forbes. But how did Bezos amass such immense wealth, and what does this figure signify about his journey and the broader tech industry?

Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in 1994, starting the company from his Seattle garage. What began as an online bookstore quickly transformed into an e-commerce behemoth, revolutionizing how people shop and reshaping the retail landscape. Bezos’ vision and relentless drive played a pivotal role in Amazon’s success. As the company grew, so did his wealth. Today, he owns slightly less than 10% of Amazon.

In 2019, Bezos went through a significant personal and financial change. He and his wife, MacKenzie, divorced after 25 years of marriage. As part of the divorce settlement, he transferred a quarter of his then-16% Amazon stake to her. Despite this, Bezos’ net worth continued to soar, thanks in part to Amazon’s consistent growth and his other ventures.

In 2021, Bezos made a significant shift in his role at Amazon. He stepped down as CEO and took on the position of executive chairman. That same year, he made headlines by flying to space in a rocket developed by his aerospace company, Blue Origin.

Bezos’ wealth isn’t just about numbers on a balance sheet. He has shown a commitment to giving back. In 2022, he donated more than $400 million worth of stock to nonprofits. However, the specific organizations that benefited from this generosity remain undisclosed. Further, in a recent interview with CNN in November 2022, Bezos revealed his intention to donate most of his wealth during his lifetime. While he didn’t disclose the specifics, this statement underscores his commitment to making a positive impact on society.

Other Ventures & Investments

Apart from Amazon, Bezos has diversified his portfolio with several other investments and ventures. He owns The Washington Post, a testament to his interest in media and journalism. Additionally, his early investments include becoming one of the first angel investors in Google in 1998, where he invested an estimated $250,000.

Jeff Bezos’ net worth of $158.5 billion in 2023 is a testament to his business acumen, vision, and relentless pursuit of innovation. From starting Amazon in his garage to becoming one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, his journey is a remarkable story of entrepreneurship and determination. As he continues to shape industries and commit to philanthropy, the world watches with keen interest, eager to see what the Amazon founder will do next.

It’s not the first time that Kim Kardashian has been spotted out with Jeff Bezos. Back in 2022, her and her then-boyfriend, Pete Davidson, joined Bezos and Lauren Sanchez for a double date at West Hollywood’s A.O.C. Sánchez and Bezos became engaged, back in May, after dating for several years. Bezos was previously married to MacKenzie Scott, but they divorced in 2019.

Jeff Bezos, Amazon Founder And Billionaire, Is Officially Engaged

Jeff Bezos keeps plenty busy, but he’s not too busy to find love. TMZ has confirmed that Jeff Bezos and girlfriend Lauren Sanchez are engaged. The billionaire proposed to Sanchez while they were enjoying a luxurious voyage around Europe on his impressive $500 million superyacht. It comes as no surprise that Sanchez said “Yes” to Bezos’ proposal. The couple has been inseparable since they began dating in 2019. Their relationship began shortly after Bezos’ divorce from his wife of 24 years, MacKenzie.

Bezos seems to have spared no expense on the engagement ring, which was proudly displayed by Sanchez aboard the yacht. The size of the rock on her finger is truly impressive. The cost of the engagement ring would be significant to most people. However, it is merely a small portion of Bezos’ vast fortune as the founder of Amazon. Interestingly, it appears that the engagement actually took place last week. Sanchez was spotted wearing a ring on her finger in a photograph from Wednesday. At the time, however, the large gemstone was cleverly hidden on the inside of her hand.

Bezos Wants To Give Away Most Of His Wealth

Jeff Bezos may be one of the richest people on earth, but he doesn’t intend for things to stay that way. In fact, he plans to donate most of his wealth during his lifetime. According to reports, the Amazon founder’s net worth is estimated to be between $121 billion and $124 billion. In an interview with CNN’s Chloe Melas at his residence in Washington, DC, Bezos expressed his intention to utilize his wealth in the fight against climate change and to aid individuals who can contribute to the unification of humanity. However, Bezos did not disclose a specific percentage or provide concrete details regarding the manner in which he plans to distribute his funds. That doesn’t mean he plans to stop making money, of course.

For quite some time, there were rumors connecting Jeff Bezosto the potential purchase of the Commanders. He is the third-wealthiest individual globally and a resident of Washington, D.C. As such, Bezos has been seen as a possible bidder for the team. However, controversy arose when sources alleged that the Synders, the current owners of the team, had prevented Bezos from making a bid. The Synders have denied these claims. However, in mid-April, Bezos was confirmed to no longer be in the running. Days later, the team was purchased by Josh Harris. Stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news on hip-hop, tech, and more!

Jeff Bezos Rolled Up To Coachella In A Butterfly Shirt To Watch Bad Bunny’s Headlining Set Alongside Kris Jenner

It goes without saying, but Bad Bunny has a ton of fans: In 2022, he was Spotify’s most-streamed artist in the world for the third year in a row. Among those admirers, it would seem, is another hyper-successful figure: Jeff Bezos.

This past Friday (April 21), Bad Bunny headlined the first night of Coachella’s second weekend for 2023. As People reports, the billionaire Amazon founder, who was once the wealthiest person in the world (he’s currently third), was seen attending Bad Bunny’s performance alongside partner and reporter Lauren Sánchez, Kris Jenner, and Corey Gamble. Fan-shot videos also show Bezos and Sánchez enjoying the show.

Bezos’ look drew some attention. As People notes, “Bezos, 59, also kept it casual in a long-sleeve light blue button-up shirt with butterflies on the front, a pair of jeans, and white sneakers with dark trim around the ankle.” Some onlookers took notice of the shirt, which can apparently be bought on Amazon for about $12 (or at least one that looks just like it can). One Reddit user summarized the ensemble, “Jeff looking like the dude that comes into a store and asks to buy the outfit off the mannequin.”

This comes months after Bezos gave Dolly Parton $100 million to use for philanthropic purposes.

Jeff Bezos Won’t Join Commaders Bidding War

There has been much speculation over the next owners of the Washington Commanders. After long-time owner Dan Synder officially put the team up for sale, a number of parties have expressed their interest. Official bids have been submitted by Sixers owner Josh Harris, whose ownership group includes Magic Johnson, as well as Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos. Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta has also submitted a $5.6 billion bid, which would be lower than the reported $6 billion offered by other groups.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has long been linked to the sale of the Commanders. The third-richest man in the world has long resided in Washington and owns the legacy newspaper, The Washington Post. He has long been considered a potential bidder. However, drama emerged last month when sources claimed the Synders had blocked Bezos from bidding. The Synders have denied this claim. It is known that a third, anonymous group toured the Commanders’ facilities along with Harris and Apostolopoulos. But whether that was Bezos, or another ownership group, is unknown.

Bezos Out According To Sources

First reported by Teddy Schleifer at Puck, Bezos is officially out of the running for the Commanders ownership. Bezos had been seriously considering making an offer, going as far as to hire Allen & Co. to explore the feasibility of making a bid. At one point in the proceedings, Jay-Z was reportedly part of Bezos’ group. Despite the heavy circulation of the rumor, that was later proven false. However, according to Schleifer’s sources, Bezos will not be submitting a formal bid. A reason for why Bezos is pulling out was not given.

That leaves the bids by Harris and Apostolopoulos as the two front-runners. Both bids are said to be of equal value, meaning it will be down to the Synders to decide the organization’s future. It is unlikely that the sale of the team will occur before the 2023 NFL season. Furthermore, the sale will likely be delayed until the 2024 off-season to minimize the impact on the team. The sale will end a tumultuous ownership saga for Synder, who has consistently drawn negative headlines during his tenure. Most recently, Synder faced the wrath of his fellow NFL owners after it was revealed he had been cooking the Commanders books to withhold money from the NFL’s revenue-sharing scheme. On the field, the Commanders are looking to rebuild after failing to post a winning record for the sixth consecutive season in 2022.

Shaq Explains How Jeff Bezos Scared Him Into Not Bidding On The Suns

Shaq is one of the richest men when it comes to retired NBA players. After retiring from the NBA, Shaq went on to participate in various business endeavors that have turned his net worth into upwards of $400 million. His wealth is truly impressive, and when you think about all of the commercials he does, it is easy to see how he ultimately arrived at that number.

These days, Shaq has been contemplating a purchase of the Phoenix Suns. They are currently up for sale and are worth $1.8 billion. On The Big Podcast with Shaq, the former Lakers superstar revealed he wanted to make a bid, but in the end, he chose not to because of Jeff Bezos. Bezos is looking to buy the team, and Shaq doesn’t want to mess with the richest man in the world.

Dave Kotinsky/Getty Images

“I was open [to the idea of purchasing the team] until I saw the initials JB. Let me tell you something, you don’t mess with James Brown, you don’t mess with Jeff Bezos,” Shaq said. “When the boys come on stage, get your a** and go. So, Jeff said he wants it and a couple of other heavy hitters said they want it. I’m not even gonna put my name in the bucket on this one.”

Brett Hemmings/Getty Images for TLA

It would be great for the NBA if Shaq could own the team, but for now, he is simply going to hold off. As for Bezos, it still remains to be seen if he will get the team.

Stay tuned to HNHH for more updates from the NBA.

Drake Gets A Response From Jeff Bezos After Comparing Himself To The Amazon Billionaire

Drake once famously made a big deal about his humble beginnings on the 2013 single “Started From The Bottom.” Now, he has again chronicled some of his early days, this time with an Instagram post in which he compares his journey to that of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The post even got a response from Bezos himself.

On Instagram yesterday, Drake shared a two-image gallery on Instagram, one photo of a younger him and another of a younger Bezos at work in a meager-looking office. Drake wrote, “Gotta start somewhere.” In the comments, Bezos wrote, “Started from the bottom now we’re here.”

What the post and comments don’t note, though, is that the seemingly-humble Bezos photo Drake shared is from a time when Bezos was actually already more prosperous than most: The image comes from a 60 Minutes segment on Bezos and Amazon that aired in 1999. That year, Bezos was worth $7.8 billion and named Time‘s Man Of The Year. So, while it’s true that Amazon did in fact have a small start in a garage, the photo Drake chose for his post is certainly not representative of that era.

The desk, though, is indeed a DIY setup, a door with 4×4 pieces of wood for legs, which Bezos explains in the 60 Minutes segment, “It’s a symbol of spending money on things that matter to customers, and not spending money on things that don’t.”

Jimmy Kimmel Is Shocked That Kanye West Managed To ‘Cyberbully Pete Davidson Off The Earth’

Earlier this month, rumors began swirling that Pete Davidson may be ready to take to the skies for a zero gravity brodown with Jeff Bezos. On Monday, Bezos’ Blue Origin confirmed that the SNL star will indeed be part of the spacecraft’s crew when it blasts off on March 23. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for anyone, but Jimmy Kimmel thinks there might be something a little more to it than that, especially given the timing.

As most people know, Davidson—for reasons beyond this writer’s comprehension (and the comedian’s own)—is a notorious ladies’ man, and has been dating Kim Kardashian since late 2021. This latter fact does not sit well with Kardashian’s ex, Kanye West, and Kanye and Davidson have been engaging in a serious game of one-upmanship for months. And Kimmel thinks that Davidson’s upcoming out-of-this-world adventure could be related to his ongoing beef with Ye. As he said on Monday night:

“Seats are filling up for the next Bezos pocket rocket launch, and you know who’s going up? Pete Davidson. Pete Davidson will take a Blue Origin flight into space next week. Amazing. Did Kanye really cyber bully Pete Davidson off the Earth?

Actually, the reason [Pete’s] doing this is in order to understand Kanye better, he’s visiting his home planet. I guess now we know there’s no drug test to go into space, huh?”

You can watch the full clip above (which begins around the 6:00 mark).

William Shatner’s Late 1970s Rendition Of Elton John’s ‘Rocketman’ Is Finding New Life After He Blasted Into Space

“And I think it’s gonna be a long, long time” could be a way to describe William Shatner’s wait to actually head into space (at age 90) after his (for all practical purposes) lifelong run as forever Captain Kirk of Star Trek fame. And on this fine Wednesday morning, William Shatner actually made good on his reputation by blasting into space (for real) on Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ anatomically-shaped rocket. The pop-culture institution and three other passengers finally ended up on the New Shepard vessel, in which they glided into the very edge of space before making a safe touchdown on planet Earth.

Following Shatner’s return to civilization, CNN reports that he grew very emotional after his sub-orbital journey (which included a few minutes of weightlessness). He told Jeff Bezos, “What you have given me is the most profound experience I can imagine.” And it seems that Shatner fans, as well, are feeling similarly. In fact, this day has seen Shatner’s late 1970s Saturn Awards rendition of Elton John’s “Rocketman” go viral. Decades later, the clip’s still as funny and bizarre as ever while featuring a smoking, tuxedo-adorned Shatner — multiple versions of him, even — doing the spoken-word thing. Can we consider this “singing”? Probably not. “Dancing,” though? For sure.

The clip began to heavily circulate during blast-off time, and for good reason.

Congrats to William Shatner, and welcome back to civilization.
