Eve Claims Janet Jackson Saved Her Life During An MTV Afterparty

Eve has been making hits for decades. The first lady of Ruff Ryders has rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest and brightest that hip hop has had to offer. Her path to superstardom was not easy, though. The rapper detailed her music industry experience in her new memoir, Who’s That Girl?. One of the most harrowing incidents divulged in the book occurred at the 2007 MTV Awards afterparty. Eve claimed that her drink was spiked, and were it not for Janet Jackson, things could have gone bad.

Eve claims she became hysterical when she attended the aforementioned afterparty. She suspected that something had been slipped into her drink when she wasn’t looking. Fortunately, Janet Jackson showed up to save the day. “Missy came in to check on me, but I was just unable to collect myself,” Eve recalled. “Then who walks in, Janet Jackson.” The rapper noted that she had never met Miss Jackson prior to this MTV encounter. Despite this, Jackson sprung to her aid. “She just sprang into action and told people to get aspirin, water, hot sauce, and a piece of white bread,” Eve wrote. “That concoction knocked me right out of my hysteria.”

Eve has maintained a reverence for Jackson ever since the afterparty incident. “Basically Janet Jackson saved my life,” she asserted. This is not the first time the Ruff Ryders icon has discussed this experience. She talked about her lone Janet Jackson encounter during a 2018 appearance on CBS’ The Talk. There were even more details shared, in fact, when Eve opened up to hosts Sharon Osbourne, Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert and Sheryl Underwood. The rapper claimed she was taken to a bedroom where she began to cry. She also noted that Jackson put her at ease by telling her not to stress. “And she’s like, ‘I got this, don’t worry, relax, calm down,’” Eve explained.

There are several other notable stories littered throughout Eve’s memoir. Many, thankfully, are more positive and uplifting than her MTV afterparty experience. The rapper recalls working with Dr. Dre and Gwen Stefani on her smash single “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” in 2001. She also detailed the struggles she was forced to overcome as a female rapper in a predominantly male field. Given that she was the third female rapper to ever top the Billboard 200, we’d say she figured it out.

Janet Jackson Remembers When Her Pants Split In The ‘Booty Crack’ While Performing For The Queen Of England

Janet Jackson is one of the most esteemed performers in music history. Given just how often she’s taken the stage at this point in her career, though, it makes sense that she’s dealt with at least a handful of issues during a performance. One such instance arrived with terrible timing: Jackson once had a wardrobe malfunction while performing for the Queen of England.

In a British Vogue video shared yesterday (September 12), Jackson talks about some of her most iconic fashion choices from over the years. When she get to one look, she explained:

“Funny story about this outfit: I was performing for the Queen of England, and we were doing Rhythm Nation. Sure enough, as soon as I squatted, my pants split right in my booty crack. I couldn’t believe it happened. I thought, ‘Oh my god.’ And then I started feeling air back there, so I knew it had really happened [laughs]. And the whole time, it was fine until, no, you’re going to perform for the Queen of England. So I never turned my back to her, which, some of the choreography, I was supposed to. I just faced forward.”

Beyond that, the video offers a fun look at Jackson’s career through the lens of her clothes, so check it out above.

Janet Jackson Reveals Her Unreal List Of Celebrity Relatives (Aside From The Obvious Ones)

Janet Jackson is of course a member of one of entertainment history’s most famous families: The Jackson family. So, she counts Michael Jackson and others among her relatives. It turns out that her family tree is even more star-studded than that, though, as she just revealed.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 2’s Scott Mills (find a video clip here), Jackson was asked about the rumor that she’s related to Stevie Wonder and she confirmed it’s true, saying, “He’s our cousin.” She added, “Not a lot of people know that. He’s our cousin on my mother’s side. So is Tracy Chapman. So is Samuel [L.] Jackson.”

Meanwhile, following reports that Jackson had signed a deal for a Las Vegas concert residency, a representative reportedly confirmed the news with a statement, saying, “We are thrilled to announce Janet’s upcoming residency at Resorts World Las Vegas. This partnership offers a unique opportunity to celebrate her legacy and deliver unforgettable performances. The energy and excitement of Las Vegas, especially around the holiday season, make it the perfect setting for this new chapter. Janet is excited to connect with her fans and bring her iconic music to life in a fresh and dynamic way.”

Janet Jackson Blows Fans Away By Revealing Celebrity Relatives: Watch

Yes, Janet Jackson comes from a famous family. Her older brother Michael is the King of Pop, and the rest of her siblings comprised the legendary Jackson 5. Everybody knows this. Jackson’s family is so expansive, however, that there are more famous people than we all realized. The singer went on BBC Radio 2 on August 13, and proceeded to blow the mind of the host when she listed off some of her cousins. Apparently, Samuel L. Jackson and Stevie Wonder are part of the Jackson family tree.

Stevie Wonder was the starting off point for the revelatory conversation. The host asked Janet Jackson what her relationship was with the soul icon, and she confirmed that they were cousins. Jackson then proceeded to named Tracy Chapman as another relative. “He’s our cousin. Not a lot of people know that,” she explained. “He’s our cousin on my mother’s side. So is Tracy Chapman.” The host was not alone in his shock. Most of the internet reacted the same way, noting that they were completely in the dark when it came to Janet Jackson’s extended family. Samuel L. Jackson shares a surname with the songstress, but that was another revelation that seemingly came out of nowhere.

Janet Jackson Has A Ton Of Famous Cousins

Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson worked closely during the 1970s and 80s. The two men were Motown prodigies, and collaborated multiple times on record. Their most notable collab, “Just Good Friends,” was one of the few non-singles on 1987’s Bad. Wonder has voiced support for the Jackson family in the wake of Michael’s death. Especially given the allegations that have leveled at the pop star courtesy of the documentary Leaving Neverland. “He’s died, he’s dead,” Wonder told TMZ. “Hopefully, we can continue the legacy of inspiration he has given a lot of kids and a lot of people.”

Interestingly, Samuel L. Jackson has discussed his family tree in the past. The actor did a Wired Auto Complete interview in 2017. One of the questions he was asked was whether he was related to Michael Jackson, and he stated, plainly, “nope.” There aren’t any other instances of the actor addressing the topic, but it’ll be interesting to hear what he has to say after Janet Jackson’s claims. Somebody’s telling the truth.

It is hard to remove a time when Las Vegas’ live entertainment experienced a slight slump. But, Sin City has bounced back from the COVID pandemic in unimaginable ways. According to reports, Janet Jackson will be the next superstar to hit the Sin City lineup.

Today (August 6), TMZ claimed that “The Pleasure Principle” singer was “in the final stages of signing a residency deal with Resorts World.”

A source close to the matter told the outlet, that Jackson and Resorts World were eyeing December as its launch point, starting with a New Year’s Eve performance. TMZ also alleged that Jackson was previously approached for a similar opportunity with a venue in London, but ultimately decided against it for the more favorable Vegas offer.

Later in the day, Daily Mail issued a statement supposedly from Janet Jackson’s manager Mo Elmasri to back TMZ’s report.

“We are thrilled to announce Janet’s upcoming residency at Resorts World Las Vegas,” he told the publisher. “This partnership offers a unique opportunity to celebrate her legacy and deliver unforgettable performances. The energy and excitement of Las Vegas, especially around the holiday season, make it the perfect setting for this new chapter. Janet is excited to connect with her fans and bring her iconic music to life in a fresh and dynamic way.”

However, Jackson nor Resorts World Las Vegas have publicly confirmed the rumor.

Last month, Jackson wrapped up the US wing of her Together Again Tour. But some September, she will launch the international leg in Europe. The run will wrap up in October. So, a December residency in Las Vegas seems plausible.

Janet Jackson Essential Songs

For more than forty years, Janet Jackson has been an influential figure in the music business. She has also impacted fashion, dance, and social consciousness as well. Every time she resurges into popularity with a new audience or generation, Janet combines pop, R&B, and dance music while always being true to herself. No matter how often she changes her image, there is never any doubt about who this woman represents – empowerment and survival. Her partnership with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis alone would be enough for anyone’s career. Together, they created some of the most iconic songs ever recorded, placing their collaborator among those who shaped modern sounds.

From child star to international icon – Janet Jackson’s story shows us what can happen when talent meets hard work meets timing meets ability. She maintains relevance throughout years spent in the public eye across different eras or points where mass attention shifts elsewhere. However, people still remember her for something else entirely…a sound transcending time (and charts). Some of these essential tracks reflect her growth as an artist through contributions made to the music industry at large

1. “Control” (1986)

“Control” is the title track from Janet Jackson’s third album, also titled Control, released in 1986. This record signified a significant pivot point in Janet’s career because it represented her assertion of personal and artistic autonomy. After separating herself from the considerable influence of her famous family, especially her brother Michael, she managed her career alongside producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The funky beat and direct lyrics of “Control” make clear that she wanted creative command over her destiny.

Further, Janet Jackson’s music catalog changed forever after the success of “Control” and its parent album. The LP sold more than five million copies in America alone. Additionally, many singles from that same record became No. 1 hits across various charts worldwide. In addition to showcasing what she could do vocally or performance-wise with songs like these (and others), Janet always knew how important it was for people – especially women – to feel empowered.

2. “Nasty” (1986)

“Nasty” is also one of the standout singles from Janet Jackson’s groundbreaking album Control. The song is renowned for its assertive lyrics and the iconic “nasty” refrain, quickly becoming a cultural catchphrase. Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, “Nasty” features a sharp, edgy production. Its memorable bassline also perfectly complements Janet’s fierce vocal delivery. The song responds to a real-life incident where men harassed Janet. This led her to demand respect and assert her independence through her music.

The impact of “Nasty” was profound, as it reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of Jackson’s signature songs. Its success further solidified her image as a strong, independent woman who wasn’t afraid to speak out against mistreatment and demand respect. The track’s powerful message of self-respect and empowerment resonated with a broad audience. It also allows many to stand up for themselves. “Nasty” reinforced Janet’s role as a music industry leader and a cultural icon advocating for women’s rights and personal dignity.

3. “Rhythm Nation” (1989)

The song “Rhythm Nation” is featured on Janet Jackson’s fourth studio album, Rhythm Nation 1814, released in 1989. In this track, she calls for unity and asks for a change in society, not just individually. This anthem has an industrial, military sound with driving rhythms and bass lines underscoring its urgent message. Janet’s lyrics promote racial harmony while urging us all to come together against any form of injustice, thus showing that her music addresses important issues affecting societies globally.

“Rhythm Nation” was successful both commercially and culturally speaking. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, becoming one of the biggest social justice anthems. The music video accompanying this single had a powerful impact, too, especially because of its flashy choreography resembling army moves. This also helped it become one of MTV’s most iconic videos ever produced during those years. What made “Rhythm Nation” unique was how Janet fused catchy pop sounds with thought-provoking statements about life. This proved once again why she remains an influential figure in the entertainment industry who can use songs to spark positive transformations within communities around her.

4. “That’s The Way Love Goes” (1993)

Released in 1993, “That’s the Way Love Goes” was the first single from Janet Jackson’s fifth studio album entitled janet. This record marked a change in her music style. The song displays Janet’s gentler and sultry side against her prior works, which were aggressive and socially aware. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis also produced this track with a velvety mellow groove that made prominent use of breathy, seductive vocals by Janet herself. In terms of its sound quality alone, its warm close-up production values helped to re-imagine what people thought about Janet as an artist who could only talk about love when she was ready. The success story surrounding “That’s The Way Love Goes” cannot be overstated enough. For eight weeks straight, this song sat at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart while also winning a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song.

5. “Together Again” (1997)

The Velvet Rope was a 1997 album by Janet Jackson and one with a favorite single track, “Together Again.” It is a song that is loaded with emotions as it is dedicated to her friends who died of AIDS. The song combines elements from house and pop music through the help of an uplifting tune encouraging its listeners to seek delight in remembrance. This was vital for the success of “Together Again” which topped the chart at Billboard Hot 100 becoming one of Janet’s biggest international hits in several countries. Its popularity reached out because of the love as well as support towards those affected by this condition. This shows how “Together Again” is another instance where Janet addressed social matters at large while still remaining within her forte as an icon of pop music.
