Janelle Monáe Goes All In On Boobs With The (Definitely NSFW) Vinyl And CD Editions Of Her Upcoming Album, ‘The Age Of Pleasure’

Much has been made about Janelle Monáe’s upcoming album, The Age Of Pleasure, specifically as it relates to her often-NSFW rollout of the project. Now, they’re back with more, via the newly revealed CD and vinyl editions of the album that continue to put breasts on display.

In a post shared on Twitter this afternoon (May 23), Monáe posted photos of the vinyl edition. On the front is alternate cover art, a warm-colored portrait of Monáe. When the packaging is opened up, revealed is a painting of breasts (presumably Monáe’s, given how eager she’s been to show them off lately). Monáe’s tweet with photos of the vinyl packaging can be found here.

Meanwhile, the CD edition of the album also shows off some skin. The cover art is the same underwater shot as the original cover, but the art on the CD features a different photo from that same shoot, in which Monáe is also topless in a pool.

As Monáe recently put it, “I’m much happier when my titties are out and I can run around free.”

The various editions of the album can be perused and purchased here.

The Age Of Pleasure is out 6/9 via Wondaland Arts Society/Atlantic Records. Find more information here.

Lupita Nyong’o Addressed The Rumors Than She And Janelle Monáe Used To Date: ‘I Was Not Surprised’

Janelle Monáe and Lupita Nyong’o are great friends, so much so that there have been rumors the two dated each other. Now, speaking to Rolling Stone for a new feature on Monáe, Nyong’o talked about it.

“She has magnetism that they were obviously picking up on,” she said. “She is that enigmatic. People are curious about enigmatic people. I was not surprised. And I don’t mind being associated with her in any capacity.”

Nyong’o also spoke about first meeting Monáe at the Met Gala, following her breakout role in the 2013 movie 12 Years A Slave. She said, “This world is still extremely new to me and unbelievable. [Monáe] came up to me and just gave me the realest hug. I think we may have swayed to the music. She was just like, ‘I’m so proud of you, and just thank you for being you.’ […] At some point, [Monáe] asked me for my phone, put her number in, and said, ‘Let’s stay in touch.’ She was like, ‘I really mean it. If you need anything, I’m here for you.’”

She also said despite their friendship, she doesn’t necessarily feel like she truly knows Monáe: “Just because you’re a close friend of hers doesn’t mean you get to know everything about her. I think that’s what makes her interesting as an artist.”

The 37-year-old singer/actress rocked the cover wearing nothing but a gold rope chain wig with diamonds on the cover. When the world was first introduced to the multi-talented artist, she limited her wardrobe to black & white tailored suits.

She also discusses how she diagnosed herself with OCD,

“I know how to coach myself if it comes up again. But all of that I think made me… And in OCD … if something isn’t exactly how I see it, in my mind, it’s trash.”

“I think that therapy, life coaching included, should be free for every American. There’s so many people walking around wounded emotionally. We would be better as a country, as a planet, if everybody had the access.” She recently released a video of herself wearing a wet t-shirt to promote her new single “Lipstick Lover.”

“I think being an artist gets lonely. Most people don’t understand what’s going on in my brain. Community has been so helpful to me; it’s beautiful that I have a title called The Age of Pleasure because it actually re-centers me. It’s not about an album anymore. I’ve changed my whole f**king lifestyle.”

She continued: “I’ve been a Lipstick Lover. I wear red lipsticks at the parties. I’ve had moments where if me and a girl or an energy… want to engage, you’re going to see lipstick. I remember how it felt when I got kissed on my neck with red lipstick. I remember how I went to bed feeling. It was a deep rouge. It wasn’t matte. I remember the way the person looked. And I was like, ‘That’s a f-cking song.’”

Janelle Monáe Explains Her Recent Antics: “I’m Much Happier When My Titties Are Out”

Janelle Monáe is going through changes, and the world is definitely taking notice. Over the past month, we’ve seen the singer bare her body more than ever before, happily showing off her breasts not only during a live performance but also on the cover of Rolling Stone. The latter was shared with the world on Monday (May 22), with Monáe posing in front of a blank white background wearing nothing but a golden headpiece to cover her hair.

“Janelle Monáe: Freer Than Ever,” the headline reads. In the accompanying story, the Dirty Computer songstress touches on not only her recent NSFW antics but also her upcoming album, The Age of Pleasure. Regarding the former, the 37-year-old has made it abundantly clear that she’s “much happier when [her] titties are out and [she] can run around free.” According to Monáe, a deep personal evolution has allowed her to become “more nude, more present, and less anxious.”

Janelle Monáe Goes Topless on the Cover of Rolling Stone

As for her upcoming album, Janelle says that it has a wide variety of influences behind it. “It was inspired by all of my friends, my community of folks who are from South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, the Caribbean, Atlanta, L.A., Chicago. Seeing all of us together in our Blackness, in the love that we had in our eyes for each other,” she expressed to Rolling Stone.

It remains unclear which collaborators Monáe will be connecting with – if any – on the project. So far she’s given fans two singles, “Float” with Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 and more recently, “Lipstick Lover,” to hold us over until the quickly approaching official release date on June 9.

Janelle Monáe Has A Good Reason For Her Recent NSFW Moments: ‘I’m Much Happier When My Titties Are Out’

Janelle Monáe has been one of the most talked-about pop culture figures in recent weeks, due largely to the skin-bearing rollout of her upcoming album, The Age Of Pleasure, and how it contrasts her previous style era, which featured her mostly covered up in suits. Now, Monáe has talked about what’s going on here.

In a new Rolling Stone feature, Monáe offered some succinct reasoning behind her skimpier outfits as of late, saying, “I’m much happier when my titties are out and I can run around free.”

The piece explores the regular parties Monáe hosts and opens with an anecdote about them showing their butt to their friends at one of them. Monáe said of how these events inspired “Lipstick Lover,” “I have a whole spreadsheet with 50 to almost 100 experiences that I had at this party. I’ve been a Lipstick Lover. I wear red lipsticks at the parties. I’ve had moments where if me and a girl or an energy want to engage, you’re going to see lipstick. […] I remember how it felt when I got kissed on my neck with red lipstick. I remember how I went to bed feeling. It was a deep rouge. It wasn’t matte. I remember the way the person looked. And I was like, ‘That’s a f*cking song.’”

Monáe also revealed that even when they were publicly more buttoned up, their lifestyle off-camera wasn’t necessarily that way: “Even when I was really, really wearing only suits, I was either in a suit or you would find me at my own parties naked. It was no in-between.”

Rapper Reason Has An ’Endearing’ And ‘Respectful’ Marketing Request For Janelle Monae To Help With His Rollout

Janelle Monae is in their self-renaissance era and no clothing is required. After a clip of them dancing on the top of a bar following the 2023 Met Gala and another of her flashing fans during a performance, the “” singer has been the talk of the town. As they prepare for the release of their forthcoming album, The Age Of Pleasure, TDE’s Reason has a special marketing request for them.

Taking to Instagram, Reason sent a voice note to Monae to ask to “borrow” their boobs for his upcoming music rollout. In an audio clip uploaded to Instagram, the “Barely Miss” rapper says, “Hey Queen. Um, I just wanted to ask respectfully, in the most endearing respectful way, I want to know if I can borrow ya titties for my rollout. I know this is asking a lot, but I’ve seen what your titties did for your rollout and I’m in need.”

He continued, “I’m in need of help for content every single day, Tik Tok, the algorithm is changing, the label wants me to go viral and I saw, it’s a very nice pair of titties also by the way, I saw what those titties did for you, but I was just wondering if you had a daily fee for your titties for my rollout. Um, let me know. I hope you don’t take this any type of way. Just a business transaction. All love. Respect to you queen.”

Reason’s message has not yet garnered a response from Monae. So, in a follow-up post, Reason opened up the offer to anyone willing to partake.

Monae has made it clear that their body and how they use their body to express themselves for social liberation not for the male gaze.

Cardi B’s Thirsty Tweet About Janelle Monáe’s NSFW Video Causes Shadow Ban, She Asks Elon Musk For Help

New York-born lyricist Cardi B has never been one to censor herself, which is precisely why fans love her. Unfortunately, it seems Twitter isn’t so fond of her often-salacious nature, as the mother of two’s account was hit with a shadow ban following her NSFW response to a video of Janelle Monáe. If you somehow didn’t hear, the Dirty Computer songstress practically broke the internet last week with a video of her bare breasts being flashed to her audience during a performance, among other antics.

When she came across the footage, Cardi took the opportunity to thirst after Monáe the way many fans have – shamelessly. As Uproxx reports, she used an image of the reality star and OnlyFans content creator Natalie Nunn hooking up with another woman to express her feelings, though the message was quickly taken down. In the days following, the rap diva seems to have noticed a substantial difference in her Twitter engagement, as she reached out to CEO Elon Musk with a public plea for help.

Cardi B Turns to Elon Musk for Help

@iamcardib/Twitter

“I’m shadow banned ’cause I posted a picture of somebody getting their [t*tty] sicked,” she wrote on Tuesday (May 16). “@elonmusk please unshadow ban me. I won’t do it again,” Bardi further pleaded. That most, like the original one that got her in trouble, has since been deleted as well, though we nabbed a screenshot before the removal. Seeing as the South African engineer will only be head honcho of the social media platform for a short period, it remains unclear if he’ll still have the authority to help the Grammy Award winner following his demotion.

It’s worth noting that her post’s impressions are noticeably lower than in the past, prior to her expressing interest in Monáe. Do you think Elon Musk should help Cardi B out with her shadow ban situation? Let us know in the comments, and tap back in later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Cardi B Asked Elon Musk For Help After Her Thirsty Tweet About Janelle Monáe Got Her ‘Shadowbanned’

It looks like Cardi B’s Twitter fingers might have gotten her in a little trouble with the platform’s admins, so she’s going to the owner himself for help. It all started when Janelle Monáe dropped her refreshingly racy video for “Lipstick Lover,” prompting a 24-hour thirst-fest on Twitter. Cardi joined in with an NSFW post of her own, which included a photo of a woman sucking another woman’s breast. However, Cardi now believes that her explicit post got her account “shadowbanned” and is even ready to suck up to the app’s owner and former CEO.

“I’m shadowbanned cause I posted a picture of somebody getting their tittie sucked,” she wrote. “@elonmusk please unshadowban me. I won’t do it again.”

Of course, her request might be a little too late; Elon reportedly stepped down from Twitter, installing a new CEO — who is, unfortunately, not Dionne Warwick — and is said to be focusing on “product design & new technology.” What “product design” has to do with spreading antisemitic memes remains to be seen. Maybe it’s part of that “free speech” he keeps railing about (to recap: titty tweets=not okay; virulent Nazi symbolism=okay).

For what it’s worth, though, it does appear that Cardi is any kind of banned. Her last tweet, a video of the huge bunch of roses Offset got her for Mother’s Day, has nearly 2 million impressions since yesterday, which means her tweets probably aren’t being secretly suppressed by the algorithm. More likely, she’s been in what’s colloquially known as “Twitter Jail,” when the app won’t let you post for a while because you violated terms of service somehow. It’s less public than an official suspension, and usually, it only lasts about a day. Cardi’s latest tweet kind of proves that she’s off timeout, and we’re sure she’ll be posting something controversial again in no time.

Janelle Monáe Gets Support From SZA Amidst “Self-Renaissance”

Janelle Monáe has fully returned to the spotlight. With the announcement of their upcoming album, The Age of Pleasure, and the release of their much-discussed single, “Lipstick Lover,” Janelle Monáe’s music comeback is in full swing. The singer and actor has been making headlines quite a bit lately, not only for their new music but also for their antics on stage and off. Videos of Monáe dancing at a private party have added fuel to the social media conversation about them. She has a devoted following across many genres thanks to their distinctive and varied musical style, which distinguishes them from imitators in the field.

Monáe recently spoke to Zane Lowe in an interview about the new album and single. There, they spoke about the inspiration behind the new single, “Lipstick Lover.” Apparently, the song is very much inspired by their own experiences leaving lipstick on people they’ve kissed. “That song… I’m like, ‘Why didn’t I write this song years ago?’ Today, I don’t have on any red lipstick, but I’m always in red lipstick,” Monáe said. “And there have been so many instances where I’ve made out with somebody at a party, and it’s dark… But when the lights come on, whoever I’ve made out with, lipstick all over their face.”

SZA Loves Seeing Monáe Express Themself

Janelle Monáe is taking charge of the rollout of their upcoming album, The Age Of Pleasure. After the release of the provocative “Lipstick Lover” music video, Monáe has definitely caught the attention of the public. The music video is in stark contrast to much of the earlier videos that the artist released in its NSFW nature. It prompted Cardi B to share an explicit post thirsting after the singer. Monáe’s mother, on the other hand, had some concerns about her child’s nudity. SZA, however, had nothing but praise for Janelle Monáe after the release.

SZA shared her support for Monáe publicly, commenting on the post above from RNB RADAR on Instagram. There, she expressed her admiration for the Monáe’s self-renaissance. “I love that it’s HER being free rn because people LOVE to box women in and claim that because your articulate respected and intelligent,” SZA said. “You can’t show your body or be sexual or anything else lol. It’s a ridiculous notion and I’m ALL FOR HER SELF RENAISSANCE.” What do you think of Janelle Monáe’s free new persona? Let us know in the comments below!

SZA Offered A Message In Support Of Janelle Monáe’s ‘Self Renaissance’: ‘I Love That It’s Her Being Free’

Janelle Monáe is firmly in control within the rollout of their forthcoming LP The Age Of Pleasure. As Uproxx’s Aaron Williams put it, “It’s the story of America, of being Black, of being queer, of being non-binary, and always fighting to be seen, to be heard, and to not just survive in a hostile world but thrive.”

All eyes are on Monáe after the release of “Lipstick Lover” and its salacious video. Cardi B was inspired to share a very NSFW post, Monáe’s mother had questions about her daughter’s “nude booty,” and Jason Isbell didn’t understand how anybody could possibly criticize the “Lipstick Lover” video because “there are some things we all just agree is awesome.”

SZA sides with Isbell. She commented on an RNB RADAR Instagram post about “Lipstick Lover,” expressing admiration for Monáe’s “self-renaissance.” (It should also be noted that The Age Of Pleasure is due out June 9, aka 6/9, which is very likely not coincidental.)

“I love that it’s HER being free rn because people LOVE to box women in and claim that because your articulate respected and intelligent [eye-rolling emoji],” SZA wrote. “You can’t show your body or be sexual or anything else lol . It’s a ridiculous notion and I’m ALL FOR HER SELF RENAISSANCE [hearts-as-eyes emoji].”

Monáe also repurposed a clip from the “Lipstick Lover” video as a Mother’s Day tribute on Sunday, May 14. See their post below.
