It’s Halloween for most of the world, but it’s Young Thug’s day for hip hop fans. The rapper was set free on Thursday after a lengthy trial. He was given 15 years probation, and a host of conditions upon release, but he was released, and that’s what matters. The hip hip world showed their support for Young Thug all throughout his trial. Other rappers made it clear that they were desperate to see their peer released, so he could assume his legendary career. Now that it’s happened, the celebration has begun.

Sexyy Red, a rapper who was repeatedly cited Young Thug as her “twin,” took to Twitter to voice her happiness. “They let twin out,” she exclaimed. Jay Electronica took a wordier, Jay Electronica-esque approach in his tweet. He praised Allah and reminded Thugger to make the most of his second chance. “Praise be to Allah they let this man come home,” he wrote. “Be Great Slime.” DJ Mustard also got in on the celebration by noting that Halloween has been topped. “Thug free,” he tweeted out. “What a day!” NBA athlete James Harden voiced his support more subtly. He tweeted out a snake to represent the rapper’s “slime” aesthetic.

The most notable show of love, however, came from Travis Scott. Thug and Travis Scott rose to fame around the same time. Thugger appeared on Scott’s breakout mixtape, Days Before Rodeo. He’s stellar on the track “Mamacita,” which gained renewed interest during his trial. The mixtape was uploaded to streaming, which exposed it to a brand new generation. “Mamacita” also featured an exemplary verse from Thug’s friend Rich Homie Quan, who died on September 5. Young Thug and the Astroworld superstar have a particularly strong bond.

Unsurprisingly, Travis Scott posted a photo alongside Thugger. He posted the photo on his Instagram Story with the caption: “My brudda otw home.” The man who narrated Travis Scott’s first album, Rodeo, also stepped in with words of support. T.I. posted his own photos of Thug on Twitter. “Welcome Home lil bruddah,” he wrote. “It’s been too long… Time to get back to it!!!” T.I. had previously gone on record to state that he would make sure Thug was taken care of when he got home. Fans shared plenty of jokes about their friendship in the replies. One user wrote: “Lmao if you ain’t go to Vegas and get a mugshot then you ain’t do it right! [laughing and shrug emojis]. Baby was arrested in Las Vegas on Monday for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. Shortly afterward, his legal team released a statement explaining he does have a permit in Georgia and that they’d be looking into the matter. “Dominique Jones has a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit,” Baby’s attorney, Drew Findling, told Billboard in a statement. “On his behalf we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.”

Baby has faced legal trouble in previous years as well. In 2014, he found himself behind bars after police arrested him for possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Speaking with Rolling Stone in 2017, he explained how he got into selling drugs. “Needed the money, more than anything,” he said at the time. “I knew all the drug dealers around my neighborhood. When I was like 10, 11, I was hanging out with a dude who was like 17. He was getting money to buy a car, having his own little spot. Travis Scott and James Harden were broing it up last night in Las Vegas, according to Sportskeeda. The Houston rapper and the Los Angeles-bred NBA star guard have been close pals for quite some time. Their relationship grew, especially when the Arizona State product played for the Scott’s hometown Rockets. In fact, James Harden describes his relationship with the Cactus Jack label head as one that betters them both. “We’ve grown a friendship, a friendship that’s grown pretty tight. We talk very, very often… give each other confidence”, Harden explained in 2019.

NBA free agency is in full swing, and James Harden has decided to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers, signing a two-year deal worth $70 million.

This announcement comes shortly after teammate Paul George chose to opt out of his contract to explore free agency, landing with the Philadelphia 76ers. In response, the Clippers have been focused on retaining their star players and re-signing point guard Russell Westbrook to maintain their competitive edge.

“We think James has been terrific for us when we obtained him five games into the season,” said Lawrence Frank, the Clippers president of basketball operations, in a statement. “Thought he had a terrific season. … He’s been great in terms of even the offseason, coming in, working out, coming in two-a-days, getting extra work in.”

He also popped up in the locker room of the Florida Atlantic football team, which led many fans to clown him for acting like he was a player.
