Ice Cube Tells Kendrick Lamar To Stay Ready Amidst Drake Battle

Ice Cube knows a thing or two about rap battles. “No Vaseline,” his takedown of N.W.A, is still lauded as one of the greatest disses of all time. Cube recently asserted that it is the greatest. That doesn’t mean he can’t recognize the talent of others. The rapper has been complimentive of Kendrick Lamar throughout his career. He admired the way the Compton legend handled his recent confrontation with Drake. That being said, Ice Cube has some words of wisdom for Lamar. As far as he’s concerned, the battle is far from over.

Ice Cube recently went on the Big Pod with Shaq to discuss the beef. He came down as team Lamar, and admitted that his West Coast peer was the clear winner. So far, at least. Cube shocked some listeners by suggesting that the beef was ongoing. “I always approve of rap battles that’s the essence of the game,” he told the host. “I think Kendrick is up, he’s landed the more hard & effective punches.” This is agreed upon in the music world. Especially after the one-two punch of “Meet the Grahams” and “Not Like Us” took over the charts. Ice Cube didn’t want K. Dot to get ahead of himself, though. He felt Drake was an opponent worth taking seriously.

Ice Cube Thinks Drake Still Has A Chance To Win

So seriously, in fact, that the rapper claimed Drake could still turn things around. “[It] don’t mean Drake cant get off the canvas,” Cube asserted. “If I was Kendrick I’d stay cocked and loaded….” This is a unique stance to take in light of Drake’s recent moves. The Toronto rapper claimed he was finished with the beef on “The Heart Part 6.” He’s dropped music unrelated to the beef, and has leaned more into his pop-rap bag, much to the chagrin of people who were team 6 God. “Wah Gwan Delilah” was a particularly bizarre move.

Still, Ice Cube could be right on the money. Drake might just be biding time, and putting Kendrick Lamar at ease before he strikes again. The thing is, Lamar has already followed Cube’s advice. He teased the notion of having more disses ready on “Not Like Us.” Five disses, in fact. “How many stocks do I really have in stock? Ayy,” he rapped. “One, two, three, four, five, plus five, ayy.” A twitter user asked whether Dot had disses ready to go, and his affiliate Coolee Bravo confirmed the claim by tweeting “5.”

Pharrell Seemingly Disses Drake On New Single “Double Life”

Pharrell and Drake have always had a contentious relationship. Pharrell is best friends with Pusha T, the man who obliterated Drake’s public profile in 2018. The issues between Skateboard P and the 6 God was always unspoken, though. The two of them even collaborated on the remix to “Lemon” in 2017. Then the beef with Kendrick Lamar happened, and everything changed. K. Dot claimed to inherit the beef from P, and Drake taunted the Compton rapper by telling him to get Pharrell’s jewelry out of his house. It was all very messy. Many assumed Pharrell would keep quiet on the matter, but he might have just responded.

Pharrell dropped a new single on June 14 titled “Double Life.” The song is part of the Despicable Me 4 soundtrack, which is a franchise that helped the artist land the number one single “Happy.” It may sound wild, the notion of a rap diss being snuck into the soundtrack for a kid’s movie, but it seems like that is what P chose to do here. “Double Life” contains bars that appear to be specifically aimed at Drake and his, well, double life. “Lie detector time,” he raps. “Hey, what are you hiding?” Pharrell doubles down on this mysterious target with the lines: “Nothing wrong being private… Make sure it ain’t wrong.”

Pharrell Targets A Rapper Who’s “Hiding” Things

It’s worth noting that Pharrell is one of the most positive and optimistic voices in hip-hop. He’s always preaching kindness to fellow artists. He’s the guy who made “Happy,” like we said. The thing is, Drake has been sniping at him for a long time. The 6 God threw shots at Pharrell on the 2023 Travis Scott hit “Meltdown.” P is the only artist mentioned in “Family Matters” who didn’t directly diss Drake beforehand. It wouldn’t be absurd to assume Skateboard P decided to crack the seal on negativity for Drake’s sake. Most of the hip-hop did it in 2024 (and it’s June).

Pharrell is also the guy who rapped on and produced “Mr. Me Too” for Clipse. “Mr. Me Too” is diss for Drake’s mentor, Lil Wayne. P and Clipse felt like Weezy was copying their fashion sensibility, so they made a whole song mocking him. In this sense, Pharrell dissing Drake is a long time coming. We don’t have confirmation that Drizzy is the target of Pharrell’s Despicable Me 4 single, but it’s not hard to believe.

Odell Beckham Jr. Supports Drake Amid Kendrick Lamar Feud With Hilarious “Family Matters” Display

The biggest topic in all of rap music this year has been the conflict between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Fans were enthralled with the saga for weeks since they were never sure when the next shots would be fired, in addition to drawing in some of the greatest names in the genre. Particularly during that one weekend when “Family Matters,” “Meet The Grahams,” and “Not Like Us” were released one after the other in quick succession. To many, Drake lost the beef, and he himself seemed to move on and try to put the whole thing behind him. Now, his best friend Odell Beckahm Jr. has released a video of him supporting Drizzy by dancing to “Family Matters.”

Odell dropped a video of himself blasting and dancing to Drake ‘s Kendrick Lamar diss track “Family Matters.” Odell is hilariously showing support to his bestie who he spends a lot of time with. Though Drake may have lost the feud in many people’s eyes, that doesn’t matter to Beckham JR., who will support his guy through thick and thin. Judging by the video, he was really feeling the track and just had to share it with the world to show folks that Drake dropped an incredible song. Drake and Odell have been friends for a long time, so the show of support is no real surprise.

Odell Beckham Jr. Supports Drake By Hilariously Blasting Family Matters

Over the past few years, Drake and Odell Beckham Jr. have become close friends to the point that the Super Bowl champion once resided at the Toronto star’s Hidden Hills home. Beckham reportedly related an incident in which he was at the home of the Six Gods when supporters broke in. “Somehow [these guys] found The Boy’s house, broke into it,” he said during a podcast appearance. And man they come into the room like, ‘We made it to Drake’s crib!’ [Their] socks [were] dirty as hell like they had to crawl through the mountains to get here. So I had to try and play it cool. I had to dap them up but I was like, on edge at this point.”

Odell Beckham Jr. recently signed a deal with the Miami Dolphins, joining their young and dynamic wide receiver room. They will be looking to the veteran Odell to set the standard and hopefully help them make a deep playoff run. Odell also recently called it quits with Kim Kardashian, although the two are still cool with each other. Overall, Odell Beckham Jr. had a great time vibing to his buddy Drake’s diss track, showing some real support.

Drake Faces Yet Another Lawsuit: What Is Members Only & Why Are They Suing The Rapper?

Drake is embroiled in a new legal battle, with allegations that his recent tour merchandise infringes on the trademark of the 1980s iconic apparel brand, Members Only. According to Billboard, JR Apparel World LLC, the current owner of Members Only, has filed a lawsuit against Drake and his company, Away From Home Touring Inc. The dispute centers around tour t-shirts that bear the phrase “Members Only,” which is also the title of a song on Drake’s 2023 album For All The Dogs. This lawsuit is just one of several legal challenges the rapper has faced recently, as he continues to navigate the complex landscape of intellectual property and artistic expression.

The lawsuit claims that Drake’s use of “Members Only” on his tour t-shirts is a trademark infringement. JR Apparel World LLC argues that the phrase “Members Only” is a registered trademark specifically for clothing, which they revived over the last decade. The fact that “Members Only” is a song title on Drake’s latest album does not grant him the right to use the phrase on merchandise. The lawsuit, Billboard cites, states, “The fact that ‘Members Only’ is a song on Drake’s album For All The Dogs does not obviate the likelihood of confusion or give [him] a license to use our client’s ‘Members Only’ marks in such a confusing manner, particularly on or in connection with apparel items.”

Trademark Confusion

Members Only is best known for its distinctive racer jackets, which were a fashion staple in the 1980s. Despite the design differences between the original Members Only jackets and Drake’s t-shirts, the lawsuit emphasizes the potential for consumer confusion. It asserts, “Away From Home’s use of ‘Members Only’ … is likely to cause confusion, mistake, and deception among consumers as to the origin of Away From Home’s infringing T-shirts.” The owners of the Members Only trademark are particularly concerned about the dilution of their brand identity and the potential misleading of consumers into believing that there is an association between their brand and Drake’s merchandise.

A Brief History Of Members Only

Europe Craft Imports established Members Only in 1975 and became a household name in the 1980s, thanks to its popular jackets. These jackets featured narrow epaulettes, knitted trim, and a logo tag on the chest pocket, becoming a symbol of 80s fashion. The brand’s slogan, “When you put it on, something happens,” further cemented its place in pop culture. After a period of decline, JR Apparel World LLC revitalized the brand in recent years, maintaining its retro appeal while expanding its product line.

This lawsuit adds to a series of legal challenges Drake has faced in recent months. The rapper was previously dismissed from lawsuits related to the Astroworld disaster and settled a suit over a fake Vogue cover used to promote his album Her Loss. Additionally, Drake removed the AI-assisted track “Taylor Made Freestyle” following legal threats from Tupac Shakur’s estate.

The Road Ahead

As the lawsuit progresses, it will likely explore the nuances of trademark law and the balance between artistic freedom and intellectual property rights. For Drake, he faces yet another hurdle in his career and perhaps, it resolves itself sooner rather than later. Nonetheless, the Canadian star has fans anticipating his two new features on Camila Cabello’s forthcoming album, due out later this month.

Drake & Common Beef: What Exactly Happened?

The recent back and forth between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has sent the hip hop world into a frenzy. One significant ripple effect from the beef is the sudden spike in interest regarding past scuffles that each rapper has engaged in. One such beef includes a 2012 spat between Drake and Common, which saw the rappers trading jabs over several tracks, social media posts, and interviews. Today, the Drake and Common beef has long since been settled, allowing both lyricists to speak on their disagreement with the fresh perspective of hindsight. Let’s dig into the Drake and Common beef details and unpack the entire situation.

The Beef Began Over Serena Williams

When this beef kicked off, fans had no idea that world-renowned athlete Serena Williams was secretly at the center of it all. Yet, Common admitted during a recent Drink Champs interview that his beef with Drake was something of a Trojan War moment in his career, with Serena in the role of Helen of Troy. Serena and Common had previously dated from roughly 2007 to 2010. The pair have never publicly explained what caused their breakup, but Serena ended up in a romantic entanglement with Drake shortly thereafter. According to Common, he wasn’t explicitly bothered by Drake going out with his ex, but he did feel that Drake was being shady regarding his failed romance.

During his Drink Champs interview, Common explained, “I felt like Drake was sending me a couple of shots, subliminal. I don’t know what motivated him to send me some shots, but I think what for sure had me, if I’m just being real, like you know, we mess with one of the same girls. Wars happen over women… But I ain’t going to get at you if you with somebody I was with. But if you start throwing me a couple little, you know, you trying to throw some jabs, you know, and I’m like, come on man, okay.”

The Rappers Kept Things Mostly Subliminal

While a few names were thrown throughout the Drake and Common beef, the rappers kept their conflict light. Common refused to elaborate on what specific subliminal jabs kicked the whole thing off in his eyes, but he confirmed that his lyrics on the song “Sweet” were directed at the Toronto native. Instead of immediately responding on wax, Drake took to the stage during a December 2011 performance, explaining to the crowd, “I might sing, but I ain’t no b****. If Common got something to say, say it to my face.”

From there, things continued to heat up, with Drake sending more direct shots over Rick Ross’s “Stay Schemin.” Common provided the most direct bars in the entire beef with a scathing “Stay Schemin” remix, rapping, “I’m taking too long with this amateur guy/ You ain’t wet nobody, n****, you Canada dry/ Soft n****, make no mistake, I’m talking to Drake.

Drake’s Father Squashed The Beef At The Grammy’s

While reflecting on his beef with Drake on Drink Champs, Common confirmed that things are all love between the pair today. He even clarified how exactly they managed to peace it up, revealing that Drake’s father, Dennis Graham, was responsible for bringing them together. After bumping into Drake at the 2013 Grammy Awards, Common claims that he was confrontational, until Dennis stepped in and demanded that they talk it out. The Chicago MC explained, “His father was there and was like, ‘Y’all need to squash this.’ And I was like, Man, this an elder talking to me. This this man’s father. Let me chill out… So we just squashed it… I said what I had to say. Right now, we saying we squashing it. We good.”

Elliott Wilson Makes It Crystal Clear He Never Snitched On Drake During Kendrick Lamar Battle

The beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake that took place earlier this year captivated rap fans in a way no other story has in a long time. Fans and members of the rap media are very much still unpacking the fallout from it. One of the most fascinating back-and-forth moments of their conflict was when Kendrick seemed to imply there was a snitch in Drake’s camp. Since then there’s been tons of discussion on just who could have been sharing information. Rap journalist and current HipHopDX editor Elliott Wilson is now insisting he wasn’t involved in the leaks following speculation sparked from a prior interview.

Wilson told a story recently during a recent appearance on the Joe Budden Podcast where he revealed that Drake sent him a rat emoji during the beef. That got fans curious as to whether he was the one sharing info from Drizzy’s camp after all. But during a recent appearance on HipHopDX‘s The Bigger Picture he shut the rumors down. It began with the aftermath of Kendrick’s “6:16 In LA.” “There was a lot of industry rumors that Drake was gonna respond that night. It wasn’t some big secret,” Wilson began. “I hit him like, ‘Yo, you dropping a joint tonight?’ I’m just sniffing around. He’s like, ‘Yeah, something, lol.’ And I saw the things where he was kinda letting Akademiks know something’s coming, ‘Get it in your stream.’ Letting Kai know something’s coming, ‘Get it in your stream,” Wilson continued. Check out his full comments below.

Elliott Wilson Denies Sharing Info On Drake

From there Wilson continues. “So he teases [a response track], and then out of nowhere, he sent me a rat emoji!. I’ve never had a grown man ever send me a disrespectful emoji of any sort. I’m a grown ass man. I’m fuming.” Listen to his entire discussion on the beef in the podcast episode above.

What do you think of Elliott Wilson shutting down the rumors that he may have leaked information from Drake’s camp during the Kendrick beef? How do you think Kendrick seemingly got information about Drake’s moves before they happened? Let us know in the comment section below.

Drake Is Being Sued By Members Only For Copyright Infringement Over Some Of His Tour Merch

Drake’s terrible, no-good 2024 continues. The beleaguered rapper, who already saw his reputation take several hits from his ill-advised war of words with Kendrick Lamar, is now being sued for copyright infringement by clothing brand Members Only. According to Billboard, the point of contention is a T-shirt Drake sold during his It’s All a Blur Tour emblazoned with the established brand’s name. The T-shirt referred to the title of a song on Drake’s latest album, For All The Dogs, which, in turn, was most likely inspired by the brand itself.

And while Drake can easily title a song “Members Only,” putting those words on a piece of clothing — the Members Only brand’s domain — he exposed himself to legal action. As the lawsuit states, “The fact that ‘Members Only’ is a song on Drake’s album ‘For All the Dogs’ does not obviate the likelihood of confusion or give [him] a license to use our client’s ‘Members Only’ marks in such a confusing manner, particularly on or in connection with apparel items.”

The fact that Drake’s tour production company, Away From Home Touring Inc., sold shirts bearing the words “Members Only” could have confused fans into thinking the brand Members Only was involved, according to the suit (just typing that out made me a little dizzy). “Away From Home sold … goods bearing the mark ‘Members Only’ that are identical, overlapping, and/or highly similar to the goods that JR Apparel sells bearing its MEMBERS ONLY Marks,” it alleges. Which means that Drake only has one more headache to deal with, when he’s supposed to be off somewhere licking his wounds.

Drake Gives Fans A Look at His New $15 Million Ranch in Texas

Drake is touring his new ranch-style home in Texas. He purchased the $15 million home in Washington County in May and is now showing fans the new digs on Instagram.

What is a sporting event without a Drake bet? Ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Drake hit Instagram and revealed a massive bet on the Dallas Mavericks to win the series. Now that Game 3 is over and the Mavs are in a 0-3 hole it looks like Drake has lost some money

Drake dropped $500,000 on the Mavs as the series winner; the payout would be nearly $1.4 million. The Edmonton Oilers also got a bet for Canada in the Stanley Cup Finals, with another $500,000 paying out just over $1,000,000.

“Dallas cause I’m a Texan,” Drake wrote. “Oilers are self explanatory.”

“I’ma give you some real insight. You hearing this first,” Problem said. “He dropped ‘Family Matters’ and I text like, ‘This ain’t it. Man, it’s time to step on his head.’ He was like, ‘Say less.’

“I’m thinking it ain’t nothing deep like that. I go to the bathroom. I come back. The muthafucking song [‘Meet the Grahams’] is uploaded! I said ‘Wait, wait, wait!’”

Drake Unveils His New $15M Texas Ranch In Stunning Photos

Drake is really entering a new phase of his life. His battle with Kendrick Lamar is over, as far as we can tell, and he’s dedicated himself to “summer vibes.” He’s dropped a baffling cover of “Hey There Delilah” and a Sexyy Red duet. Drake’s latest decision, however, may be his most significant. The Toronto rapper has decided to purchase a sprawling, $15 million ranch in Washington County, Texas. He announced the purchase in May, but he finally unveiled the ranch on his Instagram on June 12.

Drake’s photoshoot is moody as one would expect from the king of captions. There’s photos of him outside the ranch, which is called the Inn at Dos Brisas, and photos of him inside. Fans get a peek at Drake’s horses, as well as the stables in which they’re kept. They also get to see him look forlorn and contemplative inside his vehicle. The caption simply reads: “wick ’em.” It’s unclear what this means in the context of the Inn at Dos Brisas. It does, however, harken back to Drake’s 2023 song “Wick Man,” which throws subs at several other rappers. The song also sees the 6 God make reference to several international locations.

Drake Has Settled Down In The Lone Star State

Drake has been hyping up his Texas purchase for months. In September 2023, the rapper posted a video in which he announced his plans to buy property. He even adopted a Texas accent for the bit. “Me and my partna’, we done gone country on y’all,” he told fans. “We said we was gonna do it for a lot of years and we’re doing it today. The sale is made. We gotta drop a new one for this. If you see your girl at the ‘Lover Boy Lane,’ it’s over.” ‘Lover Boy Lane’ is, of course, a reference to Drizzy’s album Certified Lover Boy. Fittingly, the album contains the song “TSU,” which is an abbreviation for Texas State University.

Drake has always had a soft spot for Texas. One of his breakout songs mentions Houston in its title, “Houstatlantavegas.” The rapper has paid tribute to H-Town on “November 18th” by sampling a DJ Screw record and shouting out regional legends. There’s also the iconic “9AM In Dallas,” the planned opener for his debut album. It kickstarted the timestamp series that Drake is still riding out to this day.
