redveil Recalls His Feelings After Tyler, The Creator Cosign

redveil is just 19 years old and is already becoming one of the most acclaimed rappers out there. Like many around his age, his music is heavily influenced by various members of the Odd Future collective. In a recent chat with HipHopDX, redveil looked back on what it felt like to receive a cosign from Odd Future leader Tyler, The Creator. “I still kind of reflect on that now. “It happened like really, really early … that was the first year when people even started to listen to my music, like at all,” redveil explains.

Back in 2020, Tyler, The Creator shared redveil’s song “drown” on his Instagram page. At the time the Maryland rapper was just 16 years old. “To be able to like catch the attention of somebody that’s that high up in terms of inspiration … it still feels like it didn’t happen,”redveil explains. He goes on to call the experience one of the biggest signs that he should keep making music. Later on in the interview he called Tyler’s 2017 album Flower Boy his favorite of all the rappers works.

redveil Looks Back On Getting Love From Tyler

Tyler is far from the only rapper to give redveil his flowers. Earlier this year he served as the lone feature on a collaborative album from two of the underground’s most acclaimed artists Danny Brown and JPEGMAFIA. His appearance on the song “kingdom hearts key” is the lone feature of the pair’s new album SCARING THE HOES. Danny Brown extended his admiration for the rapper even further when he invited him onto his podcast last month. JPGEMAFIA on the other hand extended the pairs relationship by appearing on redveil’s new EP playing w/ fire earlier this year.

Tyler, The Creator has been in the minds of fans recently as well. In a recent podcast appearance, he lashed out at “rap twitter.” He specifically called out how much he hated seeing Top 5 Rapper lists, a staple for hip-hop fans online. What do you think of redveil reflecting on Tyler, The Creator’s cosign? Let us know in the comment section below.

In a recent interview with Baller Alert, Toosii discussed ongoing rumors about his sexuality. He revealed that the rumors don’t have a negative impact him, however, Toosii says he does worry about his son seeing them someday. “It don’t really bother me,” he told the host when asked how he feels about the rumors. He continued, “I think the biggest thing that bother me is when people play with me.” Toosii adds, “I would never let nobody play with me while my son is around … My son gotta get on the internet one of these days, and the internet is forever and he gotta see this.”

Toosii also goes on to explain, “I don’t got no problem with the LGBTQ community.” He says, “At the end of the day, calling someone gay is not an insult. Toosii Says His Only Concern Is His Son

Toosii showcased a similar sentiment earlier this year during a social media debate. In a clip, he responded to online speculation that he may be homosexual. “I get on the internet everyday and see us attacking us. S**t getting overrated,” he began. “It is what it is at the end of the day,” he says. The artist then went on to explain that being called gay isn’t even an insult, asking, “If being straight [is] not an insult, why is being gay an insult?“ He added, “You’re trying to use calling a person gay as an insult. Them is the motherf***ers that really need to be attacked, feel me?”

Earlier this month, Toosii took to social media again to respond to accusations that the rapper may be “fruity.” “Everything a n***a do in this generation be fruity to y’all,” he began. “Y’all see a n***a in person and be ready to suck a n***a d**k though,” he continued, “Stop playing with me when my [son is in] my hand, b***h.” Toosii insists that he’s straight, however, the internet just can’t seem to drop the ongoing debate.

Eminem Hated For Doing “Black Stuff” Better, Says Kid Capri

Kid Capri is well-known for his outspoken nature. The New York-hailing DJ/rapper made an appearance recently on Audacy’s Hip-Hop Made with host Mike Street. During the interview, he discussed his favorite rappers and how people determine their top five MCs. Kid Capri also did not hold back when he expressed his thoughts on those who hold a disdain for Eminem. He suggested that they are envious because Eminem excels at “black stuff” better than they do.

During the conversation, Kid Capri shared his belief that people undermine Eminem’s skills because of his race. Furthermore, he asserts that Eminem is a superior rapper compared to those who throw shade at him. He argued that people often focus on an artist’s popularity rather than their genuine talent. “Everybody keep going at Eminem because he’s white. You’re mad because he’s doing black stuff better than you are,” Kid Capri said. “The boy is nice, you can’t take that from him.” You can listen to the entire interview below.

Eminem Acknowledges “Stealing” Black Music

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Kid Capri defended Eminem. In a 2022 interview with HipHopDX, he did the same. He mentioned that Lil Pump’s diss towards Eminem inspired his latest album, The Love. Kid Capri expressed frustration with younger artists disrespecting older ones and emphasized the contributions made by veteran artists to the hip-hop industry. “That was just one of the things that did inspire,” he said in that interview. “I got tired of seeing the younger dudes thinking that the older people ain’t capable. Like we ain’t been here building this business from the ground up from day one.”

Eminem himself has acknowledged “stealing Black music” on his song “The King and I” from the Elvis soundtrack. On it, he draws a parallel between himself and Elvis Presley. In the lyrics, Eminem reflects on using black music as a tool to combat societal issues. He goes on to compare himself to Elvis. The lyrics highlight their similarities as white artists who achieved significant success and were acclaimed as “kings” in their respective eras. What do you think of Kid Capri’s defense of Eminem? Stacks rap longer.” He explains, “When you handsome all the girls like you you get to rap longer.”

The artist recently told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that chose being a rapper over being a pilot, revealing that he was previously enrolled in flight school. Snoop Dogg Received Big Praise From James Brown Before His Passing

Snoop Dogg recently shared a memorable encounter he had with soul music legend James Brown. This took place before Brown’s unfortunate passing in 2006. Snoop relayed the story during his Audible episode Words + Music: From the Streets, to the Suites. The rap icon reflected on his final conversation with Brown. Throughout his career, he was known as The Hardest Working Man in showbiz. According to the West Coast rap legend, James Brown came to visit him. Snoop says that the most significant compliment he received from Brown was that he was the hardest working man in the industry. Brown told him that it was Snoop Dogg’s responsibility to take the industry to new heights where Brown himself couldn’t.

Snoop Dogg felt that Brown saw his potential. The rapper says that as he looks at his own accomplishments today, he realizes that Brown’s words were prophetic. Snoop also discussed his approach to mentoring and supporting the next generation of artists. He expressed his willingness to engage in conversations with younger rappers and creatives. He says he wants to offer them valuable advice and guidance to apply to their own journeys. Snoop Dogg believes in providing wisdom to those who admire him. He wants to ensure that they carry his knowledge with them as they climb the ladder of success.

Snoop Reflects On His Iconic Career

In the Words + Music series episode, the 51-year-old rapper spoke on various topics related to his illustrious career. Snoop was very open about his feelings at various notable moments. One of the particularly important events he discussed was his determination not to let Pharrell outshine him on their 2004 hit song “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” The track unsurprisingly reached the top of the Hot 100 chart. Snoop Dogg recalled being in the studio with Pharrell, where the latter was working on the beat and vocalizing without using words. Snoop took on the challenge of making sense of Pharrell’s non-verbal sounds. He then delivered a powerful verse.

This anecdote highlighted Snoop’s appreciation for being produced and guided in the studio. “He ain’t even got the beat all the way made. This how this n*gga get down,” Snoop said of Pharrell. “He don’t say words, he just [imitates vocalizations], so it’s my job to make that shit make sense!” However, Pharrell wasn’t afraid to speak up when it came to Snoop’s lyrics. “That third verse… that ain’t it,” he recalls the Neptunes producer saying. Of course, Snoop soon came back with a harder 16 bars for the verse. “That’s what I mean about ‘I like to be produced.’” What do you think of Snoop’s career recollections? Let us know in the comments!

Killer Mike Reveals He Chose Rap Over Being A Pilot

Killer Mike has been a prominent figure in the hip-hop industry for over two decades. However, he almost chose a very different path. Recently, Mike opened up about a significant turning point in his career. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he revealed that he had once considered a different career. During his fourth-grade year, his teacher suggested that he should become a pilot instead of a rapper. She believed Mike was too intelligent for the music industry. Intrigued by the idea, Killer Mike enrolled in flight school. He did so alongside Slim from the R&B group 112. However, their venture into aviation did not materialize as expected, and Killer Mike eventually returned to his true passion for rap.

Despite facing obstacles and self-doubt along the way, Killer Mike persevered in his rap career. He recently reflected on the impact of his first record deal with Columbia Records. His debut album, Monster, sold over 500,000 copies in the United States. However, it received a lukewarm reception compared to the tremendous success of his contemporaries. 50 Cent, for example, sold almost 10 million copies of his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’. Killer Mike admitted that the experience left him feeling damaged and apprehensive. However, it also led him to realize that he felt more comfortable and authentic operating within independent circles.
