However, we can’t miss how folks often clown him online for fashion choices and other style reasons, whether or not that’s warranted or funny in the first place. On that note, fans are now taking aim at the 6ix God’s recently showcased curls in an IG Story selfie, which sees him do a little duck face for the camera, too. Folks flooded comments sections under posts covering this with cheeky, “zesty” GIFs of him, plus references to other similarly themed jabs at him. “It’s giving Ben Stiller in Zoolander,” one fan expressed, with another adding “21 can you do sum fa meeeee.”

Furthermore, part of this hyper-fixation is just because of how big Drake is as an artist and celebrity. Otherwise, folks wouldn’t care too much to comment on any old selfie from some guy, and they let some of their most critical or bigoted thoughts emerge when it’s about a huge superstar. He doesn’t mind at all, though; after all, he keeps posting things like this all the time. Kanye West just posted on his Instagram Story for the first time in a while, following a couple of months of deactivation. Moreover, he reposted a picture from Russian fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy of someone wearing a T-shirt of his “upcoming” Ty Dolla $ign collab album Vultures. For those unaware, Ye found himself in even more controversy by appointing Rubchinskiy Yeezy’s head of design, given accusations that he pressured underage males into sending him explicit pictures. Regardless, this marks his return to the social media platform, and we’ll see in the coming weeks whether he’s actually going to use it a lot.

Furthermore, this contributes to the unsurprisingly wild, turbulent, often bigoted, and always combative rollout for this new project. Between listening events, rants, canceled performances, uncleared samples and features, plus delayed release dates, it’s all been quite chaotic. But some folks see through the spectacle and identify it for what it is: a spectacle. For example, Cam’ron recently gave his take on this new cycle, saying that it’s all just a “performance” to garner attention.

Meanwhile, other rappers are taking the opposite approach: looking at Kanye West purely for the music, impact, and history together, and not for anything else. For example, ScHoolboy Q recently performed at TDE’s tenth annual holiday show, and had some defensive words for his “THat Part” collaborator. “I don’t know about y’all, but I ain’t canceled Kanye,” he told the crowd. “That’s the homie. I don’t give a f**k. I’m f***ing with Ye.” Whether or not you agree with these sentiments, they also shouldn’t fall into black-and-white interpretations of condoning certain narratives. After all, the Chicago rapper’s sadly gotten away with a lot; why are we disappointed that little has changed?

Nevertheless, Vultures is now scheduled for a 2024 release, and the 46-year-old might be on the ‘Gram a whole lot more now. We still think it’s unlikely, but if it’s to shout out his new design partner and feed into the backlash, then we think he won’t pass up on that chance. X4 Arrested, His Instagram Story Suggests

Up-and-coming Los Angels rapper X4 recently took to his Instagram Story– or perhaps someone from his team did– to suggest that he’s currently in prison. Moreover, on a black background, his account simply posted “FREE X4,” and no other details about this alleged arrest emerged as of writing this article. For those unaware, the West Coast MC is among many other lyricists bubbling in the underground right now, one who’s poised to become a big name. For example, he recently released his debut mixtape The Most Important, on which he displayed some creative flows, charisma, and potential to hone his craft.

Furthermore, this arrest is especially disheartening amid the holiday season, as this is a time for family that unfortunately can’t stop harsher realities. Sadly, X4 is not alone in this struggle, as many other rappers and artists either faced arrests from authorities or are in the middle of legal trouble. One other recent instance of this is that of HoneyKomb Brazy, whom officials arrested just a few days ago on Wednesday (December 20). This reportedly relates to various gun and drug charges, and we’re still waiting to see whether this will halt this career or whether it can be sidestepped with accountability.

X4 Reportedly Arrested

Fortunately, we have other cases apart from X4 in rap’s legal space that took on more positive connotations, at least when only looking at an artist’s freedom and not the validity of their crimes. Quando Rondo was able to secure bond for $100K, and will reportedly now be on house arrest for the holidays. As such, we expect that he’ll be able to spend time with his loved ones at least a little bit and use this time to cool off and reflect. Hopefully the up-and-comer is able to achieve similar conditions, and then fully hold himself up to his accused behavior.

Meanwhile, other hip-hop figures seek to change the legal conditions that currently constrict them. There is perhaps no better contemporary example of this than NBA YoungBoy’s house arrest, which is still subject to modifications. There’s been no shortage of teases in terms of that release, even including some upcoming collaborations with the likes of Bad Bunny and Nicki Minaj. However, nothing about the 6 God’s post indicates that Travis Scott will be on the project, just that he wanted to post him screaming on the mic for some reason. Still, that won’t take fans’ hype away, and there’s always going to be demand for two of rap’s most massive figures to cook something up again. Gunna Thanks Fans For The Success Of His New Album

Gunna’s new album a Gift & a Curse dropped last week and while it wasn’t as successful as some of his previous works it still performed well. The record sold 83k in its first week which was good enough for #3 on the Billboard 200. He also charted 11 of the record’s 15 songs in the Hot 100. Three of those tracks landed in the top 50 and one even debuted inside the top 20. Compared to the numbers that most other rappers do those are impressive. Gunna thought so too and took to his Instagram story to thank fans.

In the video, Gunna posted many of the record’s accomplishments are listed. It was the number-one hip-hop album in the US during its first week. It also had the highest streaming debut of any album to come out the same week. Interestingly, it’s also the biggest first week for a rap album with no features since 2021. Underneath the video, Gunna keeps it brief with his caption. “Thanks to My Fans ILY” the text underneath the video reads.

Some fans felt like a Gift & a Curse underperformed since it was his lowest-selling major release yet. Others were quick to point out that the album’s lack of promotion and singles certainly hampered its commercial potential. Some even went as far as to say the album exceeded expectations given the circumstances. Of course, those circumstances also include Gunna’s recent brush with allegedly snitching as a part of his plea deal in the YSL Rico case. He’s been publicly criticized by former collaborators like Lil Baby and Lil Durk.

Last week Gunna’s label mate Young Thug released his new album Business Is Business. Young Thug is still in the midst of his own trial and mentions snitches directly in a lyric on the new album. Diddy Dishes Out Massive Praise For Rick Ross In New Video

Diddy is a hip-hop legend in pretty much every way an artist can be. So when he cosigns artists people pay attention and that’s exactly what happened with Rick Ross. Diddy gave the Florida rapper his flowers in a new video on his Instagram story. In the short clip, Diddy highlights Ross’ come-up as well as his dedication and drive. It culminates in Diddy calling him a “a hustling motherf****r,” albeit in an endearing way. Rick Ross reposted the clip onto his own Instagram story shortly after it was made.

Diddy and Rick Ross have collaborated on a number of songs in the past. Their most notable link-up came on a remix of Diddy’s track “Hello Good Morning.” Diddy himself just dropped a new single “Act Bad” with City Girls and Fabolous. He also appeared on a remix of Metro Boomin, 21 Savage, & The Weeknd’s hit song “Creepin’” from late last year. Rick Ross has had a relatively busy year so far too dropping his song “The Game” with Fat Joe and The LOX. He’s also appeared alongside Drei and Richie Evans in a pair of guest verses.

Diddy has had a chaotic few weeks in the public eye leading up to this point. Yesterday, he was trending on Twitter as fans dove into his past controversies. Earlier this week his son Justin Combs was arrested for a DUI. Following the story breaking Combs’ mother, Misa Hylton went on an extended rant on her Instagram story calling out Diddy and UCLA for the ways they’ve failed him. The incident is still very much ongoing and it’s unclear what Combs’ current situation is like.

Rick Ross on the other hand has been subject to largely positive news. His recent car show attracted lots of attention when Tyler, The Creator showed up. Summer Walker Teases New Project Without Auto-Tune

One of R&B’s most versatile singers promised fans that she’s going back to her roots, and they can’t get enough. Summer Walker recently shared some pictures of her in the studio and teased “an autotune free project.” Moreover, she showed a digital audio workstation (DAW) with many tracks and audio recordings, which look like something grandiose.

As such, many in the comments were incredibly excited at the prospect. Some even referenced earlier projects or tracks of hers like “Session 32,” an intimate fan-favorite and one of her first big hits. Since then, albums like “Over It” have cemented her presence in the industry with a variety of styles and approaches.

However, this isn’t the first time that the Atlanta native hinted at a new direction. Following what many perceived to be a Grammy snub last November, Walker wrote the following on Instagram: “These award shows gone play me [regardless] ima go back to making the soul music I love.”

Many fans agree. “And she still needs to get all her trophies & flowers for the “Over it” Album, the Album is LEGENDARY,” one user commented under the new post.

Although she set expectations high with this new tease, it’s also incredibly admirable considering that she recently welcomed twins. She recently shared how she dreamt of motherhood and how she reached her goal.

“I really reached my goal of hella kids before 30,” the “No Love” star posted on her IG story. Also, she reflected on how difficult yet rewarding the birth process was for her.

“I’m so proud of myself,” she wrote. “Just sharing to inspire other women, cause I know once you carry twins to almost 42 weeks, especially with one breech, people will try to steer you towards induction or C-section.

“You can do it,” the 26-year-old continued. “This was my second home birth all natural 7 hrs, no tearing & I couldn’t of done it without my spirit guides, Godparents, birth team, my elders, & the best dad doula ever Larry lol, he was so hands on the whole time I was really impressed it wasn’t easy but it gets done.”
