Ice Spice Talks Being Inspired By Nicki Minaj & Lil Kim

“Munch (Feelin U)” helped put her on the map, and Ice Spice continues to carve out her space in Hip Hop. The Bronx-born artist emerged last year with a viral hit that captivated fans worldwide, and she’s become the industry’s new “it” artist in the female Rap scene. In a new interview with XXL, Ice details her upbringing as the eldest of six children and wanting to make a mark as an artist.

“New York is full of stars, for real. So, it’s just like growing up around a bunch of stars, I feel like I became one,” she said. “The Bronx definitely made me tough. And it definitely allowed me to read people.”

Before she had a hit under her belt, Ice Spice was a fan who idolized other women in the Rap game. She noted fellow New Yorkers Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim as influences.

“When I saw Nicki, I was so mesmerized. She’s the first female rapper that I seen,” said Spice. “And ever since then, I was kinda set on what I wanted to be.”

Once she decided on her Rap moniker in high school, people began to take her more seriously as an artist. Spice is currently working on her debut EP, which has yet to receive a release date. People are debating whether she’ll be a one-hit-wonder.

However, Ice said she doesn’t want the world to count her out just yet.

“I just started my career, so I got a long way to go before I’m satisfied. But I want to be remembered for all the things I didn’t get to do yet.”

Ice Spice Responds To Snippet Of New Song Leaking Online

Ice Spice is undeniably one of the hottest names in the game right now. Ever since the arrival of her viral single, “Munch (Feelin’ U)” last August, she’s demanded everyone’s attention through her catchy songs and charisma.

Unfortunately, she’s no stranger to her music leaking on the internet though.

On Tuesday (January 10), a snippet of one of her unreleased songs began circulating on social media. The track is allegedly a collaboration with fellow Bronx rapper, Lil Tjay.

However, the 23-year-old caught wind of the unauthorized leak. Taking to her own Twitter account, she expresses her feelings about it. “stop leaking my sh*t lmfaooo this a bop tho,” she says in a quote tweet of the since-deleted snippet.

Since the aforementioned “Munch (Feelin’ U),” the Bronx native has dropped two other highly successful singles. The first of which is yet another viral hit in “Bikini Bottom,” arriving in October last year. The SpongeBob-inspired track continues to be popular on TikTok. Her most recent and her first release of 2023, is “In Ha Mood.”

Additionally, she also appears on one of Maryland rapper B-Lovee‘s singles from last year, “One Time.” J.I the Prince of N.Y and Skillibeng feature on the posse cut as well.

Ice Spice has yet to release her debut project. However, it seems as though she’s gearing up to release a six-song EP sometime soon.

“I’m about to put out an EP. It’s about to be, like, six songs. Bikini Bottom’s on there, and then there’s some that people haven’t heard. It’s gonna be a vibe. Visuals coming with it too,” she says while appearing on the Rap Caviar podcast in November.

It will certainly be interesting to hear her first project. Hopefully it arrives in the near future.

Ice Spice Gets “In Ha Mood” On Our First “Fire Emoji” Update Of 2023

The holiday season brought plenty of hustle and bustle. As a result, it was necessary for our Fire Emoji playlist updates to take a brief intermission. With a new year, though, comes new music. We’ve accordingly rounded up this week’s best releases for you in our first edition of 2023.

This weekend, it was Ice Spice who caught our attention with her “In Ha Mood” track. It was previously making rounds on TikTok (and later posted to SoundCloud and YouTube). However, the Bronx native has now made it available across DSPs so all her fans can rap along to her infectious lyrics.

French Montana is having an unexpectedly chaotic weekend. He himself was spared from gunfire. Still, the rapper’s friend, Rob49, and his bodyguard were both shot during a video shoot in Miami.

The tragic news follows the arrival of the “No Shopping” hitmaker’s Coke Boys 6 project in conjunction with DJ Drama. Of the many songs on the tracklist, “Chit Chat” with Smooky MarGielaa and A$AP Rocky is already a fan (and Fire Emoji) favourite.

From NBA YoungBoy’s latest album, we then have “Black.” The Louisana native shared I Rest My Case on Friday (January 6). It comes complete with 19 titles on which he raps without any guest appearances.

Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks’ new collaboration finds them riding in a “Rocket Chamber.” Among the track’s lyrics are “Insane in my blunt from Dr. Greenthumb / Got the K in the trunk, watch the drummer boy drum,” and “Momma not home, whip it up in the kitchen / Tend to get high, bag it up in the basement.”

Finally, we have a strong feature from Drake on Popcaan’s “We Caa Done.” The track is sure to make you want to hit the tropics in the near future to beat any winter blues.

Ice Spice Delivers New Single “In Ha Mood” for the Baddies

Ice Spice Delivers New Single "In Ha Mood" for the Baddies

Ice Spice is building upon a crazy 2022, that shot her star into a different stratosphere behind her single “Munch (Feelin’ U)”. Now Ice Spice is back with a new single, “In Ha Mood,” dedicated to all the baddies on the planet.

Prior to its official release, “In Ha Mood” has amassed over 975K views on YouTube, 2.2M streams on SoundCloud, and 70K creations on TikTok. On the single, Ice Spice’s baddie demeanor exudes in the bars as she sidesteps munches, while being the one everyone wants to get next to.

Ice can be heard delivering sass and shade in her rhymes as she rejects the munches and enjoys being in demand. The new release brings in a bit of Jersey-club through its production crafted by RIOTSUSA. “She a baddie, she know she a ten/She a baddie with her baddie friend,” Ice Spice spits.

Ice Spice Is ‘In Ha Mood’ On Her New Single

Ice Spice is ringing in her 23rd birthday, which she celebrated on New Year’s Day, with a brand new song. Continuing her hot streak of Brooklyn drill bangers she launched last year with songs like “Munch (Feelin’ U)” and “Bikini Bottom,” Ice’s latest single, “In Ha Mood,” lets us know that she’s not a flash in the pan.

Complete with a drill beat and R&B-sounding vocal samples, Ice maintains a fiery flow throughout, as she reiterates her confidence.

“In the mirror, I’m doin’ my dance / And he packin’, I know by his pants / He a rapper, but don’t got a chance / Stuck in my says so I’m lovin’ my bands / Like a million views in a day / It’s so many ways to get paid,” she raps on the song’s first verse.

In a recent interview with Interview Magazine, Spice noted that she plans to stick to the rap game for a long time. Her biggest hope is that younger girls channel her same level of self-affirmation when they listen to her music.

“I want to make girls feel confident,” Spice said. “Like the Marilyn Monroe impact or the Rihanna impact, the Erykah impact…I want to do the same thing.”

Ice Spice Shows Off A Whole Lot Of Cake On Her 23rd Birthday

We saw several artists rise in popularity throughout 2022, though none of them had a breakout year quite like Ice Spice. In the late summer, the New Yorker seemingly came out of nowhere with her “Munch (Feelin’ U)” track. Since then, her star has only ascended to new heights.

To close out December, the redhead fed her fans one last track, “in ha mood.” It had previously gone viral on TikTok, and though she didn’t share the song on DSPs, it is available for streaming on SoundCloud and YouTube.

In the caption of that upload, Spice teased that her debut project is on the way – hopefully sometime in early 2023. The curvaceous artist’s year is already off to a great start, as she celebrates her 23rd birthday today (January 1).

To commemorate the exciting moment, she posted some salacious snapshots that chiefly find her flaunting her behind for the camera. “Cake day and I got a lot,” her caption reads.

The first photo finds Spice’s cheeks breaking out beneath a black outfit in the mirror. Next, she steps outside to tan her figure in a tiny bikini paired with bright fuzzy slippers. Other additions include tropical beach shots, a video originally uploaded on TikTok, and a beautiful display of rose petals laid out on her bed.

Additionally, the “Bikini Bottom” hitmaker recreated the carousel’s first photo, though this time around she bared far more skin – and booty.

Plenty of friends have dropped by the comment section already to send Spice birthday greetings. “Damn shawty [heart eyes emoji],” Chloe Bailey wrote alongside hers. Rubi Rose, Nas-X” class=”text-word” target=”_blank” >Lil Nas X, and Lakeyah also left kind words for the Bronx baddie.

Last month, Ice Spice joined Erykah Badu and her daughter for an interview. During their chat, the former made it known that her dream collaborations are Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat.

Ice Spice’s New Single Has Her “in ha mood”

Undoubtedly one of 2022’s biggest breakout stars was Ice Spice. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, the Bronx baddie has since captured the hearts of many with tracks like “Munch (Feelin’ U)” and “Bikini Bottom.” Before the year ends, she gave fans one last treat in the form of “in ha mood.”

While the song isn’t available on streamers like Spotify or Apple Music at the moment, it can be heard on both YouTube and SoundCloud. The 22-year-old has been teasing the catchy tune on TikTok for some time, and finally decided to drop it off in full for listeners.

The portion of the single that’s been making rounds on social media finds Spice rhyming, “In the party, he just wanna rump / Big boobs and the butt stay plump / She a baddie, she know she a ten / She a baddie with her baddie friend.”

Later on she bodaciously brags, “Step in the party, I’m lookin’ the baddest / So the paparazzi in my face.”

In the caption of her YouTube upload, Spice confirmed that she has a project on the way. However, no official release date or other information was provided, leaving us to speculate.

Back in September, she linked up with B-Lovee, Skillibeng, and J.I the Prince of N.Y for “One Time.” Since then, she’s only achieved further superstardom, which means the collaborations to come in the future are likely to be nothing short of iconic.

Quotable Lyrics:

They like, “Ice, how you always stay hot?”
Oh, they mad ’cause I keep makin’ bops
Oh, she mad ’cause I’m takin’ her spot
If I was bitches, I’d hate me a lot

The SOURCE’s Top New Artists Of 2022

S3 1

2022 was a breakout year for many hip-hop artists, especially female rap artists. With TikTok becoming increasingly popular within hip-hop, many artists simultaneously dominated the charts while also having the most popular and widely used song on social media.

S3

Glorilla

When someone talks about 2022, you can go without talking about Glorilla. The 23-year-old Memphis native took over the country with her song “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).” The song went viral and started the #FNFChallenge on TikTok. Glorilla would end up signing to Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group in July, and Latto and JT would soon jump on the remix in September, with Saweetie shortly following. Glorilla would later be nominated for Favorite Hip Hop Artist, Best Hip Hop Song, and Best New Hip Hop Artist at the American Music Awards and the BET Hip-Hop Awards, respectively, winning the latter. “F.N.F” is also nominated for Best Rap Performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

Coi Leray

Coming off of a strong 2021, Coi would deliver again in 2022. She dropped her debut studio album, Trendsetter, which featured artists such as Yung Bleu, Fivio Foreign, Young M.A., G Herbo, H.E.R., Nav, Polo G, Lil Tecca, A Boogie, Nicki Minaj, and others. She also released the song “Blick Blick” featuring Nicki Minaj, which peaked at number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Yeat

Yeat might have started to reach success on social media in 2021, but 2022 was indeed his breakout year. The Portland native released his debut album Up 2 Më in September last year but finally reached the Billboard Hot 200 in January of 2022. His song “How Could You Tell” would eventually be used in an episode of the hit HBO show Euphoria. In February, he would go on to release his second album, 2 Alivë, with features from Young Thug and Gunna, and would reach #6 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. However, his success grew when he was commissioned to create a song for a Lyrical Lemonade-produced trailer for Minions: Rise Of Gru. His song “Rich Minion” was released in June and soon inspired the Gentleminions TikTok trend and peaked at 99 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Ice Spice

While Meriam Webster voted “gaslighting” as 2022’s word of the year, “munch” could be considered #2, thanks to Ice Spice. The New York-bred rapper had only been rapping for a year before she took over social media and had men on the internet admitting that they were indeed a “munch.” After she released the video for “Munch (Feelin’ U), she quickly rose in popularity and became a trending figure on social media, even catching the attention of Drake, who posted a cosign. Just a couple of months after the release of “Munch,” she followed it up with “Bikini Bottom,” which features strings reminiscent of a song used in SpongeBob Squarepants.

Doechii

Before 2022, Doechii had steadily been making a name for herself in the industry. This past year seems to culminate these last couple of years. In 2020 she released her debut EP, Oh The Places You’ll Go, which featured the popular TikTok song “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake.” The following year she was featured on Isaiah Rashad’s critically acclaimed album The House Is Burning and was SZA’s opening act during her 6-date tour. 2022, however, was Doechii’s breakout year, getting signed by Capitol Records and Top Dawg Entertainment, making her the latter label’s first female rapper. In August, she released her sophomore EP and first major label debut, She/Her/Black Bitch. Her performance of her song “Persuasive” earned her a nomination for Push Performance of the Year at the 2022 MTV Music Video Awards.

Druski Flirts With Ice Spice On “Coulda Been Records”

Slowly but surely, Druski is becoming one of the most exciting comedians in the entertainment industry. Next year, the Georgia-bred comedian will embark on his first-ever headlining comedy tour, titled the Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda Tour. The tour’s title is, in part, inspired by his ongoing Coulda Been Records Livestream series, and on Christmas Eve, Druski hosted one as a gift to his fans.

For his latest Coulda Been Records Livestream, he once again put on a great show. The Instagram Live session was filled with celebrity appearances, including GloRilla, Charleston White, Kevin Hart, and more. However, rising rapper Ice Spice’s cameo is one that has everyone talking.

Ice Spice made an appearance on Druski’s Coulda Been Records Livestream

The “Munch (Feelin’ U)” rapper joined the party near the 50-minute mark of Druski’s latest livestream. During their conversation, Ice Spice jokes about “doing it big for Christmas” while showing off a small Christmas tree, and together, she and Druski playfully roast her for having “that one hit.” While those exchanges were comical enough, he really shook things up near the end of their conversation.

Before Ice Spice exits the live, Druski shoots his shot by asking her to send her number to him in the DMs. Ice Spice agreed and proceeded to promote her new song “in ha mood,” which was released exclusively pm SoundCloud. He cuts her off by saying “Aye, we’ll talk” with a menacing grin. Then, the second Ice Spice leaves the livestream, he starts clowning the “Bikini Bottom” rapper.

“We don’t give a fuck about that song. Bitch, DM me,” he laughs. “I don’t give a fuck about that song, baby girl. DM me. Um, yeah. Yeah, we’ll see.”
