Ice Spice Says Drake Let Her Know “BackOutsideBoyz” Line Was Not About Her

Ice Spice Says Drake Let Her Know "BackOutsideBoyz" Line Was Not About Her

Ice Spice is digging a little deeper into her relationship with Drake. After saying they were good, Ice Spice revealed that the perceived diss on “BackOutsideBoyz” was not about her at all.

Appearing on Ebro in the Morning, Ice Spice provided a formal update to the “She a ten tryna rap, it’s good on mute, yeah” line.

“He didn’t, we spoke about it,” Ice Spice said. “He said that was not about me.

“We just linked up for when my shit dropped, he was in the city for his shows or whatever. And we ended up just linking up, and we was chatting.”

Speaking with The New York Times earlier this year, Ice Spice revealed the two are “cool.”

“We spoke after that a couple times and we’re good,” she added. There’s no beef.”

The two first connected after the “Munch” single blew up, leading to a trip to OVO Fest for Ice Spice to hang with Drake.

You can hear her talk about the issue during a visit to Hot 97 below.

Chance The Rapper Questioned Ice Spice About Potential Beef After Listening To Her Song ‘In Ha Mood’

Rap music and artistic beef go together like peanut butter and jelly. Rappers often take sublet jabs with foes with throwaway lines in their tracks to win the public over. While some hip-hop beefs are warranted, like Drake vs. Meek Mill, others, like Drake vs. Megan Thee Stallion, were completely uncalled for.

Chance The Rapper questions whether or not he is the center of a brewing conflict. As budding Bronx rapper Ice Spice continues to promote her new single, “In Ha Mood,” Chance is unsure if one of the bars in the song is a shot at him. The line in question reads, “In the mirror, I’m doin’ my dance / And he packin’, I know by his pants / He a rapper, but don’t got a chance / Stuck in my ways so I’m lovin’ my bands.”

The Chicago native took to his Instagram stories, sharing the video clip with the caption, “Is this a diss or a shoutout,” then tagging Ice Spice before placing a poll for viewers to give their opinion.

Before the poll could expire, Ice Spice shut down the beef option, writing in her Instagram stories, “never.” Chance The Rapper then replied, “just double checking.”

Ice Spice Responds After Chance The Rapper Asks If She Dissed Him On “In Ha Mood”

The reasons to love Ice Spice are endless. From her “Instagram caption raps” to her completely unique sense of style, the 23-year-old’s star continues to markedly rise within the industry. As the masses digest her recently released debut EP, one rapper has some questions, specifically about a potential diss.

On the trending TikTok track, “In Ha Mood,” the redhead raps, “He a rapper, but don’t got a chance / Stuck in my ways so I’m lovin’ my bands.” Earlier this weekend, Chance The Rapper used his Instagram Story to poll followers on whether the lyrics were aimed at him.

“Is this a diss or a shoutout @icespice?” he wrote over a repost of her new music video for the song. As XXL reports, the “Bikini Bottom” hitmaker saw the Chicago native’s post and took a moment to clear the air.

“Never [crying emoji],” she simply wrote, seemingly implying she has no beef with the 29-year-old. In response, Chance continued the thread on his Story, writing, “Just double checking lol.”

Aside from the “Cocoa Butter Kisses” rapper taking the line personally, some internet sleuths have been speculating it could be aimed at Drizzy. Previously, listeners thought the Canadian was throwing shade at Spice with his “She a 10 tryna rap, it’s good on mute” bar from Her Loss’ “BackOutsideBoyz.”

The fashionista recently cleared up those rumours during a chat with Ebro Darden and his co-hosts. “He didn’t [diss me]. We spoke about it. He said that was not about me,” she confirmed.

Elsewhere in the same conversation, Spice revealed that rhyming wasn’t her first passion. Rather, she wanted to pursue a career as an actress. “I didn’t ever really like see myself being a rapper,” she explained on Hot 97.

In prior acting class, she felt shyer than her peers. Now that her confidence has risen, though, she sounds eager to explore that side of herself again.

Ice Spice’s name has been everywhere lately as she promotes her Like..? EP. One of her most recent interviews was with ELLE, during which she spilled about some of her earliest musical inspirations, among other things.

Ice Spice Hints At Possible Acting Career

As Ice Spice‘s meteoric rise continues, so do the opportunities. Recently, the “Munch” rapper was featured in Beyonce’s new Ivy Park collection with Adidas. Now she has plans for the big screen, she says. Ice Spice stopped by HOT 97 to chat with hosts Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenburg about her upbringing, plans for the future, and more.

During the broadcast, the New York rapper revealed that acting was not only her first passion but that she has plans to pursue it in the forthcoming future. She admitted that while she loved writing poetry and making music, as a child, she didn’t imagine herself being the Gen Z rapping sensation she is today.

“I didn’t ever really like see myself being a rapper,” she said. “I always wanted to be an actress. That was my first passion.”

The “Gansta Boo” viral hitmaker shared a story about joining an acting class when she was younger but noted that she was timid amongst her peers. However, when Ebro asked if she would try acting again, she seemed more inclined.

While nothing has been officially announced yet, Ice Spice seems to be hiding something under her sleeve. On the heels of the release of her debut EP, Like…?, it’s going to be interesting to see where the young rapper is headed. But don’t worry, the “Munchkins” will be along for the ride.

Ice Spice Is Running New York In Style In Her ‘In Ha Mood’ Video

Ice Spice‘s debut EP, Like…? has garnered much buzz since its surprise release last week. On the EP is the standout track “In Ha Mood,” which, like its predecessors “Munch (Feelin’ U)” and “Bikini Bottom” have become viral hits on TikTok.

On the track, Spice embraces her status as rap’s newest princess, saying, “I’m proud that I’m still gettin’ bigger / Goin’ viral is gettin’ ’em sicker / Let’s keep it a buck / B*tches too borin’, got ’em stuck in a rut.”

In the song’s accompanying video, Ice is seen looking fly while walking through a bodega, spitting rhymes surrounded by her clique, and getting styled up in a mirror.

The video was filmed earlier this month, on the day Ice was planning to shoot the video for her Lil Tjay-assisted track, “Gangsta Boo.” Tjay, however, was arrested that day, prompting Spice and her team to shoot the “In Ha Mood” video on the fly.

Over the past year, Ice has become one of the most recognizable names and faces in Bronx drill. In a recent interview with NME, she said she only anticipates for drill music to grow in popularity.

“I feel that it’s only gonna keep getting bigger and it’s just the start of a huge era,” Ice said. “You know when trap was really big and it became this movement? People thought it was gonna die down over time but it just became stronger and stronger. I feel like drill will become mainstream music at some point, and it won’t be so categorized. It’s already changing hip-hop, but we won’t notice until we look back.”

Ice Spice & Her Baddie Friends Go Hard For The “In Ha Mood” Music Video

There’s no one quite like Ice Spice. Upon dropping her debut EP earlier this month, the Bronx-born lyricist sold 15K units. To some this may not sound like a lot. However, it’s key to remember that the 23-year-old only broke out last summer with her “Munch (Feelin’ U)” single.

Her explosive success is a force to be reckoned with. After breaking the internet with six new tracks last weekend, she proudly announced her starring role in Beyoncé’s latest Ivy Park campaign. Others honoured with a placement in the advertisement include Offset and one of his young sons.

To keep the momentum for Like..? going into this weekend, Spice dropped off the visual for “In Ha Mood” on Saturday (January 28). She was filming in her hometown a few weeks back. The lit energy from the behind-the-scenes clips obviously came through on the main cameras.

Though the video looks seamless, it was actually a last-minute decision after plans fell through to film for another song on the EP.

Lil Tjay was due to join the “Princess Diana” artist on set for their “Gangsta Boo” collaboration. Unfortunately, he and several other men were taken into police custody at a traffic stop due to weapons charges.

In her celebratory Instagram post from earlier today, Spice markedly quoted some of her best bars. “Ice how [you] always stay hot? Oh, they mad ‘cus I keep making bops. Oh, she mad ‘cus I’m takin’ ha spot!?”

Thus far, fellow celebrities like Russ, Reginae Carter, and Light Skin Keisha have all dropped by the comment section to gas her up along with thousands of fans.
