Recent reports have Polo G fans on edge. After the “Darkside” rapper’s legal woes (which allegedly included weapons, robbery, kidnapping, and assault charges) seemingly forced him to delay his Hood Poet album, a supposed new arrest could impact its supporting tour.

According to TMZ, Polo G was detained days ahead of his HOOD POET Tour. The outlet claims on October 19 Polo G was arrested on a new weapons charge but has since been released.

A law enforcement source told TMZ that Polo G was initially pulled over in San Fernando Valley, California for speeding. After that officers searched his vehicle, which allegedly yielded a loaded firearm.

By 5:33 p.m. local time, Polo G had been processed and assigned a housing location in the Van Nuys jail according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department database (viewable here).

Today (October 21), Polo G’s listing was updated to confirm Polo G had been released at 4:55 p.m. local time today. Polo G’s reason reason cites code 49B1. This code indicates that a person was released without bail due to an insufficient complaint. The release reason is marked as the warrantless detainment “RLSED PER 849(B)(1)PC A DETENTION ONLY,” which means “the officer is satisfied that there are insufficient grounds for making a criminal complaint against the person arrested” according to California legislative website.

The file states Polo G is not scheduled to appear in court for the matter. Polo G has not publicly addressed the incident.

Polo G Goes To The ‘Darkside’ In His Confessional New Video From ‘HOOD POET’

After months of delays and setbacks, Polo G was at last able to release his fourth studio album, HOOD POET. An acronym for “He Overcame Obstacles During Pain or Emotional Trauma,” the title turned out to be prophetic, as Polo had to deal with multiple arrests and a raid on his Los Angeles home while trying to promote the album. Still, he persevered, and the album is out now via Columbia Records.

Its release is accompanied by the video for “Darkside,” a standout, confessional inclusion, in which Polo vents about some of the aforementioned traumas and tribulations of his life. “I might never cough again from all that mud that I was sippin’,” he recalls. “Missin’ school every day, but on that block, perfect attendance / Bein’ broke the root of evil, it’ll turn you to a menace / It’s so hard to beat the odds when we was taught to be statistics / In this life, you only see the graveyard or go to prison.” The video sees him performing in a desert wasteland, flanked by a pair of armed guards. He’s been lifting too.

The Chicago rapper released four singles prior to the album: “Barely Holdin’ On,” “Sorrys & Ferraris,” “Angels In The Sky,” and “We Uh Shoot” with Lil Durk.

Polo G Reunites With Lil Durk For “We Uh Shoot” Single Off Upcoming Album

It’s clear that Polo G has been dealing with a lot mentally speaking over the last couple of years. In a recent interview with Kurrco, the Chicago, Illinois native kept it a buck about how superstardom was something he wasn’t really ready for. “I feel like I took a three-year break after being scorching hot”, he began. Later in the talk, he cited that same break was equally as challenging because he loves he what does so much at the same time. “That s*** really f***ed with my mental, a lot”, he added. However, Polo G is officially ready to reinstate himself and remind everyone who he is with “We Uh Shoot”.

This is just one slice of the pie, as the “Martin & Gina” rapper and singer is ending the album drought next Friday. To follow up on 2021’s Hall of Fame, he will finally be delivering the highly teased and awaited HOOD POET. Polo G announced the August 9 release date a couple of days ago on Instagram, along with the stacked feature list that includes Future, GloRilla, 42 Dugg, Offset, Lil Durk, and more. The latter is featured on “We Uh Shoot”, an aggressive gun-toting track. Similarly, Polo G is shelving out a lot of money for this album to sound crisp because Allen Ritter, Southside and TM88 are all credited producers on this single. Polo G And Lil Durk Warn Their Foes ‘We Uh Shoot’ On Their Menacing New Collaboration

Polo G’s long-awaited fourth studio album was finally given a release date this week, as well as an updated title. While it’s still called Hood Poet, the title is now an acronym, which according to a press release for its new single “We Uh Shoot” with Lil Durk, stands for He Overcame Obstacles During Pain Or Emotional Trauma.

And on “We Uh Shoot,” Polo teams up with the perfect person to represent that concept in Lil Durk. Both of the Windy City rappers grew up heavily entrenched in street life, but at the same time, both have distanced themselves from a lot of that aspect of their artistic expression. Both rap a lot about how their experiences shaped them — and yes, traumatized them — but also have more optimistic outlooks in their music than many of their Second City compatriots, many of whom went the other way and got downright nihilistic during the drill days.

H.O.O.D. P.O.E.T. has seen a bit of a rough rollout; initially announced nearly a year ago in August 2023, the album was pushed back a few weeks later in light of Polo’s arrest for kidnapping, robbery, and assault charges. After getting back to business in February of this year with “Sorrys & Ferraris,” he was derailed again by legal trouble, this time an arrest in New York on weapons charges.

With the album’s new release date just a week away, Polo’s given himself less time for getting into trouble, and that should be good news for fans.

Unfortunately, due to ongoing legal woes, Polo G hasn’t been able to fulfill a promise him made to fans back in August 2023. Well, that’s until now. After several unforeseen delays, the “Sorrys & Ferraris” rapper’s long-awaited album, Hood Poet, finally has an official release date.

Today (July 30), Polo G took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal the exciting news. “Hood Poet, August 9th,” he wrote. “The wait finally Over 🖤🖤.”

That information alone would have been sufficient. But after nearly a year of setbacks, Polo treated his followers to a bit more. “Plus, me and Smurk this Friday #weuhshoot,” he wrote.

A fresh collaboration between Lil Durk and Polo G set users online off.

“Finally getting my therapy collab, Polo G X Lil Durk yaayyyy🕺,” wrote one user.

The forthcoming single will mark the project’s forth singles, following “Barely Holdin’ On,” “Distraction,” and “Angels In The Sky.”

According to the promotional graphic, Polo G shared alongside the newly unveiled artwork, Hood Poet will feature guest appearances by GloRilla, Future, Offset, G Herbo, 42 Dugg, Hunxho, The Kid LaRoi, and Fridayy.

According to the tracklist uploaded to Apple Music, Hood Poet has a total of 18 tracks. With a release date formerly locked in, fans have one question—is a tour in the works?

Polo G’s Past Lives Meet In The Reflective ‘Angels In The Sky’ Video

To be so young, Chicago rapper Polo G has been through a lot in his life. In the video for his new song “Angels In The Sky,” Polo appears to have been committed to a psychiatric hospital, where he watches his past videos on a TV that’s probably older than he is. Each version of him from those videos is pulled out of their reality and time and brought to a holding cell, where they confront each other at a table, until the contemporary Polo enters to reconcile these past lives.

Polo is currently in the midst of his revamped rollout for Hood Poet, which will be his fourth album since 2019 and his breakout with “Pop Out.” Initially announced in August 2023, Polo delayed the album after being arrested on charges of kidnapping, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon. He relaunched his campaign in February with the video for “Sorrys & Ferraris,” but was again derailed in April after being arrested for possession of a firearm in New York.

As of this writing, Hood Poet still has an August release date; with the “Angels In The Sky” video, it seems like the rollout is still on schedule.
