Hitkidd threw his name into the “election” this past weekend with his new tape, Hitkidd For President. It’s the Memphis producer’s fourth project overall and second this year. If you haven’t heard of his work before, go check out GloRilla’s “F.N.F (Let’s Go)” and then come back. He’s been moving up the ranks for the past five years and he’s looking to be one of the faces of Memphis hip-hop that will carry the sound on for decades. He’s still just 29, so he’s certainly got the time to really stamp his name into the region’s rich history of rap. Hitkidd For President had been in the works for about a year or so, with the first single, “Throw Ya Signs Up!” dropping back in August 2023.
It seems like the mission for this body of work was to bring more modern-sounding bangers with some odes to subgenres from the city. One of those is crunk, which is prevalent on the stacked Hitkidd collaboration between Rico Nasty, Duke Deuce, and Xavier Wulf, “B.W.T.U.” That stands for “B**** We Turnt Up” and that acronym is a very accurate representation of the track. Right after the sung chants of “Start a f***ing revolution,” Duke Deuce comes in and immediately gets you ready for what’s ahead. His now iconic and drawn-out catchphrase “What the f***” and “Aye aye” adlibs set the tone perfectly for Rico’s nasty delivery (pun intended) and Xavier’s old-school Memphis delivery on the backend. It’s a banger through and through and an instant save from the project. You can spin it for yourself, below.
Sometimes, trap producers can sound like a dime a dozen. Many get lost in the shuffle and have a hard time developing relationships with other rappers. This of course leads to nowhere near as many opportunities for them to flourish in one of the most popular subgenres. It really is a cutthroat space, but Hitkidd is ensuring that he’s far beyond the rest of the pack with Hitkidd For President.
It’s the Memphis producer and curator’s third solo project and this is actually a sequel of sorts too. Four years ago, he “ran for office” and dropped Hitkidd For President: 2020. Back then, he wasn’t a major candidate. But in 2024, things have changed, and he’s become quite a force. It’s backed by the feature list, which boasts bigger supporters such as DaBaby, Key Glock, Rico Nasty, Duke Deuce, and Guapdad 4000. See if you’ll cast your vote for Hitkidd by checking out the tape with the streaming links below.
In a year where the music industry continues to evolve, Hitkidd stands out as a beacon of innovation and authenticity. With a resume that already includes producing the lead single “Highjack” for A$AP Rocky’s latest album and co-producing the critically acclaimed Memphis Zoo album with the iconic Juicy J, Hitkidd is on a remarkable winning streak. His recent production work on Rich the Kid’s track featuring BIA and his Top 50 Urban Radio hit “Booty Club” with Sandy Cheekz further cement his position as one of the most sought-after producers in hip-hop. Now, Hitkidd is back with another banger, teaming up with Co Cash and TripStar—both newly signed to his Campsouth label—for the politically charged video “If I Were President.”
The video, shot against the powerful backdrop of Washington D.C., showcases Hitkidd’s multifaceted talent, not just as a producer but also as a visionary director. “If I Were President” is more than just a song; it’s a statement that reflects the turbulent political climate and the need for voices that speak truth to power. The track is driven by Hitkidd’s signature hard-hitting production, layered with the razor-sharp lyricism of Co Cash and TripStar. Together, they create a sonic experience that is as thought-provoking as it is infectious.
Hitkidd’s ability to push the boundaries of hip-hop is on full display in “If I Were President.” The beat, which he began crafting three years ago during the COVID-19 pandemic, is a testament to his forward-thinking approach. “I made the beat three years ago during COVID,” Hitkidd explains. “On New Year’s Eve, Co and I started working on the song. Initially, it was just the two of us. TripStar, who had collaborated with me the previous year, was later added to the track, bringing a new dimension to the project.”
The decision to film in Washington D.C. was no accident. As Co Cash reflects, “Filming this video in Washington D.C. really added to the impact of the song. Being there by the White House and the monuments gave the track a deeper meaning.” His lyrics, “If I were president/ I’d spend the tax dollars on the trenches,” resonate with the reality that many people face today, emphasizing a desire to help those in need rather than criminalize them.
TripStar, who recently dropped his project The Re-Up and hosted a back-to-school giveaway for Memphis’ youth, echoes this sentiment. “Artists are naturally leaders in our community, so our connection to this song is real,” he states. His involvement in the video and the song underscores his commitment to using his platform to inspire and uplift his community.
Hitkidd’s dedication to his city extends beyond music. He has been actively working with the mayor of Memphis on projects aimed at improving the lives of its residents. “As artists, we come from a more realistic perspective than politicians do,” Hitkidd says. “We are around regular people every day. We see how people live and what they want and need. Most politicians are out of touch with real people.”
With “If I Were President,” Hitkidd, Co Cash, and TripStar are not just making music—they’re creating a movement. This track is a powerful reminder of the role hip-hop plays in reflecting societal issues and inspiring change. As anticipation builds for Hitkidd’s next moves, “If I Were President” stands as a bold and necessary statement in today’s musical and political landscape.

Memphis, Tennessee is one of the hottest spots for hip-hop artists without question right now. Whether its rappers or producers, the pool of talent is large. Hitkidd is one of the cities fastest rising beatmakers right now and today he is working with Key Glock and Doe Boy on “NOTT.” He is not a stranger to these two trap veterans, as Hitkidd had a hand in Glockoma 2 and OH REALLY. The last time we spoke about the 29-year-old was when he collaborated with host of his Memphis female contemporaries for Renegade. It was released in early December of last year and featured the likes of GloRilla, K Carbon, Gloss Up, Slimeroni, and more.
For Key Glock, he is just continuing to stay on his hot streak of singles. Over the last couple of months, he has remained as consistent as anyone, with songs like “The Greatest,”“F*** Around & Find Out,” the mutliple “Let’s Go” remixes, and more. For Doe Boy, he has also been on quite the heater himself. This effort follows up on “Shoulda Coulda Woulda,” “HUH,” and “Say It To My Face.”
On “NOTT,” the “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” producer brings a slick and cavernous trap instrumental. Both Doe Boy and Glock coast over it well, with the former bringing an angry, mean-mugging flow. As you can expect, the song is all about being movers and shakers in the game while describing their competition as way below them. Check out the single with music video above.
What are your thoughts on “NOTT” by Hitkidd, Key Glock, and Doe Boy? Is this one of Hitkidd’s better beats as of late? Who had the strongest rapping performance and why? He is also from Memphis but stays on the producing side of things. He has been providing beats for some big hits this year, including Glo’s “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).” That was one of the promotional singles for Hitkidd’s Renegade. In fact, almost every artist on here is from TN.
Other tracks that were put out ahead of the album are “Shabooya,” its remix, and “You The Type.” The beats from Hitkidd are very solid and scream Memphis. Juicy J also represents the city on “Freak Junt (Ext)” with Gloss Up. Stream the 17-song project above.

Not many artists can boast of having the Song of the Summer, but GloRilla sure can. In 2022, the Memphis native came out swinging with the summer anthem, “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).” The song, in collaboration with, and produced by Hitkidd, became both artists’ breakout hit. After the track went viral on TikTok, GloRilla achieved a huge career boost.
“F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” would eventually score a nomination for Best Rap Performance at the Grammy Awards. With a huge career ahead of her, GloRilla is aiming for the stars. On June 21, the rapper made the coveted XXL Freshman Class of 2023 list. Joining other up-and-coming Hip Hop artists, GloRilla’s talents are clearly being noticed far and wide.
Early Beginnings
Before finding fame, GloRilla endured a frustrating rise to the top. Born Gloria Hallelujah Woods in 1999, she got her first taste of music in the church. She was a member of her church’s choir and sang many solos. Still, shows like 106 & Park became fixtures in her life when she wasn’t singing.
By the time she lost her singing voice, GloRilla ventured into rap. She initially adopted the moniker Big Glo and uploaded her first freestyle to Facebook in 2016. Nonetheless, it would be several years and disappointments later before a light in the tunnel appeared. When her music wasn’t taking off as planned, she began to lose a lot of money pursuing her dreams.
Regardless, she didn’t give up. In 2021, at a local rap showcase, she met Hitkidd. Their encounter would eventually change both of their lives for the better. The producer and beat maker had initially sent the beat of “F.N.F (Let’s Go)” to Megan Thee Stallion, but her delayed response led to him offering it up to GloRilla. Thus, the viral summer anthem was born. GloRilla would eventually make history as the first female rapper signed to Yo Gotti’s record label, Collective Music Group (CMG).
“F.N.F (Let’s Go)” was the song that successfully put the rapper on the map. The women’s empowerment song was widely praised as one of the best songs of 2022. After breaking through, GloRilla gained her highest charting single with “Tomorrow 2.” The track, which features a guest verse from Cardi B, enjoyed great success. However, GloRilla revealed that Cardi B’s appearance on the song was a special surprise from her team.
Surrounding the collaboration with Cardi B, GloRilla said, “Actually, my team, Gotti and them. They had already reached out to her. I didn’t know. That was a surprise for me to find out that she was on the song. They had already had it in the works and everything, but I didn’t know about it. They were going to surprise me.”
GloRilla released her debut EP, Anyways, Life’s Great to positive reviews from critics. She snagged the Best New Hip Hop Artist Award at the BET Hip Hop Awards. The nine-track project also earned a nomination for Album of the Year at the 2023 BET Awards. She is also the most nominated female artist at the awards ceremony, and the second overall after Drake. Since her breakthrough, the rapper has wasted no time securing slots at significant ceremonies and concerts. She has performed at the Grammys, the American Music Awards, Coachella, Rolling Loud, and more.
Furthermore, GloRilla is an active philanthropist. She famously donated $25,000 to her high school, Martin Luther King College Prep during a visit to her hometown of Memphis. She has also shared that she’s happy to be able to put her people on and take care of her family. GloRilla’s confidence continues to shine through not only her music, but her personality and actions.
GloRilla has a big reason to celebrate April 29th. It’s been one year to the day since she released “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).” The song, which was produced by Hitkidd, gained immense popularity on TikTok after it was released in April 2022. This led to the track peaking at No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song has also been certified gold by the RIAA and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance. Iconic rapper Nas even referenced GloRilla and the viral track. He called her out by name in his album King’s Disease III’s final bonus track titled “Til My Last Breath”. On the track, he raps, “I’m applying pressure, I see why she prеssed / When she with me she GloRilla, FNF.”
Despite its success, the “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” release was not free from drama, as GloRilla faced some pretty serious legal problems with the song’s producer. Hitkidd criticized GloRilla on Twitter. He claimed that the Memphis rapper and her team attempted to gain total ownership of the track. “So basically these folks are trying to take me to court over ‘FNF’ because they want to OWN the song,” he wrote. He went on to say that he tried to help GloRilla by giving her advice, but she didn’t listen. “I told you… everyday that we was in LA… that labels are going to try to sign you because of FNF so watch out,” he continued. “I also told you to let me know when labels reach out so we can be on the same page.” Regardless, GloRilla’s life changed for the better after the release.
GloRilla Gets Roasted On Twitter
GloRilla seemed to be one of the only people who didn’t know about Elon Musk’s recent blue check purge. The internet was exploding with stories about it. Celebrities have complained left and right. Threats have been leveraged at the Twitter CEO. Dead celebrities have been getting blue checks back for no apparent reason. The whole thing has been a pretty huge mess. Somehow, GloRilla had no idea any of this was going on. To be fair, she was pretty busy with her Coachella performance and her lawsuit. Still, fans are roasting her for it. The rapper took to the social media platform to complain about her sudden lack of blue check.
“Elon be acting slow ash sometimes…. cause were my blue check go???????” GloRilla asked in a now-deleted tweet. Fans of course immediately ran with it, responding by roasting the rapper. “No, you the slow one! Everyone been knew it was happening and it did,” one user said. “Pay that 8 bucks a month.” GloRilla did not respond to the tweet, but the fact that the rapper deleted the original tweet says it all. How she didn’t know about the entire thing is a mystery. Many celebrities have been complaining about it for a while now. The rapper’s account now displays a blue check, suggesting that she paid for it.
Memphis is running things, once again, partially due to the group of women who’ve been dishing out heat. Gloss Up has been among those who’ve continued to show out with each opportunity. Following the success of songs like “Don’t Play With Me” and her stand-out verse on HitKidd’s “Shabooya,” the Quality Control rapper is ready to make her mark on the rap game.
Today, she unveiled her new body of work, Before The Gloss Up. Her debut project on Quality Control boasts 13 songs in total with a healthy mix of collaborations and solo tracks that showcase her strengths. Of course, her best friend GloRilla appears on the previously released single, “BestFrenn.” Additionally, the song, “Eenie Meeny Miny Moe” with K Carbon, Aleza, and Slimeroni also appears on the tracklist. Icewear Vezzo also appears on the project for the icy banger, “From Cross Da Way.”
In addition to the release of Before The Gloss Up, the Memphis rapper dropped some bars on Sway’s, which you could check out below.
Gloss Up is truly showing out as one of the leading ladies in the new generation of rappers. Alongside GloRilla, the two have helped shine a bigger spotlight on the women coming out of Memphis these days.
During her appearance on HNHH’s On The Club Up, Gloss discussed how the success of her crew, including GloRilla, has pushed her even further.
“Now [Memphis] influenced me a lot, like, they giving me a lot of faith to keep going,” she said. “‘Cause it’s like, we the first girls that’s out of Memphis that’s actually doing something. For a long time, it’s been the dudes getting it on, so now it’s like, the girls getting recognition. It’s cool cause everybody supporting us right now, and I like it.”
If you’ve been anywhere near TikTok, then you’re familiar with Slimeroni. The rapper is one of several artists featured on the viral hit “Shabooya,” produced by Hitkidd. Gloss Up, K Carbon, and Alexa are also featured on the record, which pays homage to the sing-along games that many remember from their youth.
Slimeroni is finding new fame as “Shabooya” trends across social media platforms. She recently performed at an event, and while several clips were shared, one widely trended online. In the video, Slime is delivering a performance of “Shabooya” when an overzealous fan taps her in between the legs.
The person who filmed the moment added a message to the video. “Respect an artist when they performing don’t feel entitled to touch on them especially they private areas,” they stated.
Slimeroni was told about the video, and she reshared it with a revelation. She said that when the woman touched her during her show, it was triggering as a survivor of sexual assault.
“So i woke up to find out im going viral on tiktok n this shouldnt b taken lightly,” said Slime. “While im performing a girl touched my private area & as a survivor of SA i was mentally frozen n didnt react like i should’ve.”
“Even security didnt do they job!” she continued. “I may have smiled but it was a nervous smile, i was not happy in the slightest. THIS IS NOT OK regardless of someones sexuality or whatever the case may b, u not entitled to touch ANYONE without consent PERIOD. hate i even gotta tell grown folks how to behave smh.”
Others added their voices to her comment section by agreeing that security should have stepped in. The woman who touched Slimeroni hasn’t been identified, but the internet can be relentless.
