[WATCH] Ed Sheeran Surprises Detroit Fans With Eminem Performance

Screen Shot 2023 07 17 at 8.02.10 AM

Detroit fans were lucky enough to get two for the price of one when Ed Sheeran brought out Eminem for an epic appearance on stage.

The surprise took place when Sheeran was performing in Eminem’s hometown of Detroit on Saturday when he teased fans by telling them he’d be covering Em’s song ‘Lose Yourself’.

Claiming he and his band had only learned the track earlier that day, Sheeran said: “Let’s see how this goes.”

The pop star got into the iconic opening lines of the song, strumming along on his acoustic guitar, but just seconds later a hooded figure emerged from a trap door next to Sheeran and joined in with the song.

When they realized who it was, the crowd went into a frenzy.

Sharing a video of the epic moment on Instagram, Sheeran wrote: “Detroit. What a moment.”

The singer told the crowd that Eminem was initially going to perform just one track, but explained: “I said, ‘you can’t come on in Detroit and do just one song.’ Do you want another song?”

After making their way through ‘Lose Yourself’, the pair collaborated on ‘Stan’, with Sheeran filling in for Dido during the chorus.

When it came time for Em to leave, he told the crowd: “Detroit, I missed you. I appreciate you, Detroit. I love you!”

The pair have also collaborated on a number of tracks in the past, with Sheeran featuring on Eminem’s songs ‘River’ and ‘Those Kinda Nights’, while Eminem appeared alongside 50 Cent on Sheeran’s track ‘Remember The Name’.

Sheeran is currently touring the US on his Mathematics Tour, which is set to continue throughout the summer before coming to an end in Los Angeles in September.

Infamous Photo From Notorious B.I.G.’s Contact Sheet To Be Auctioned Tomorrow

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE (HORIZONTAL)

“THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE” showcases the original photo of The Notorious B.I.G., captured and selected for publication by Barron Claiborne in 1997. Archived for 26 years, this piece is a cutout from the original contact sheet, making it the only one of its kind ever created. Released by the artist in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, it presents a rare opportunity for true fans of The Notorious B.I.G., music collectors, and art enthusiasts to acquire one of the crown jewels of Hip-Hop history.

Originally syndicated by Corbis in 1997, this medium format contact sheet is sized at 6×7 centimeters and displays the film information along its borders. It is labeled on the front and signed by the artist on the back. Notably, during the labeling process, Corbis unintentionally marked the year as 1995, which adds a unique and special element to the piece. The auction winner will receive the physical artwork and will also gain ownership of its digital counterpart on the blockchain, ensuring provenance. As an exceptional bonus, the auction includes a one-on-one video call with the artist, to learn more about the historical moment when the portrait of Christopher Wallace, just three days before his passing, was taken.

“THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE” is the masterpiece of The King of New York (KONY) Collection, along with five other selected works, which are all directly available on Barron Claiborne’s own website.

Nelly Sells 50 Percent Of His Music Catalogue

Screen Shot 2023 07 06 at 2.26.25 PM

Rapper Nelly recently followed a rising trend of artists selling a hefty percentage of their music. Now the ‘Hot n Here’ rapper cut a $50 million deal for the sale of 50% of his music catalog.

TMZ reports:

Sources close to the rapper tell TMZ … Nelly secured a $50 million deal for 50% ownership over his entire catalog — which includes 8 albums and a ton of #1 singles that helped define pop culture in the 2000s.

We’re told Nelly is teaming up with a company called HarbourView Equity Partners for this, which is forking over the dough to lock up some of his best-known songs … such as, “Ride Wit Me,” “Dilemma” and of course, “Hot in Herre.” Obviously they’re getting more than just that … but those tracks are, by and large, the ones Nelly’s perhaps best-known for.

In fact, a couple of these songs won him Grammys — he snagged a statuette in 2003 for “Dilemma” (Best Rap/Sung Performance) and another that same year for “Hot in Herre” (Best Male Rap Solo Performance). He has another Grammy to his name for “Shake Ya Tailfeather.”

No word yet on which parts of Nelly’s catalog — besides the above-mentioned singles — now belong to HarbourView … but considering the wide range of tunes he has under his belt … you gotta figure there’s more goodies in the vault that they’ll now have a claim to.

It’s a lot of money, obviously — so it’s great news for Nelly. Interestingly enough, things are going swimmingly for Nelly in other departments of his life … including his business ventures, like his alcohol brand, MoShine.

Plus, he’s not even done making music at this point in his career … the guy produced a full-on country album, “Heartland,” in 2021 — and we’re hearing part 2’s on the horizon as well.

To celebrate Hip Hop’s milestone 50-year anniversary, Sotheby’s presents its third dedicated Hip Hop sale, highlighting Hip Hop’s profound impact on art and culture across five decades, from its inception in the South Bronx in 1973 through today.

The ring is on offer from Yaasmyn Fula, the artist’s godmother who was one of Tupac’s most trusted advisors with all of his most important matters, including commissioning a new piece of jewelry to commemorate his achievements and usher in a new era of prosperity.

Featuring original art, historic studio equipment, sneakers and jackets, archival flyers and posters, rare artifacts, and more, the auction spotlights the iconic artists and trailblazers who defined not only the musical genre as we know it, but also the global phenomenon of Hip Hop culture spanning art, fashion and much more, including Tupac Shakur, Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Ice-T & Afrika Islam, Fab 5 Freddy, Big Daddy Kane, Futura, Lee Quiñones, UNKLE, and Mo’ Wax Founder James Lavelle, among many others.
