Hawk Tuah Girl’s Cryptocurrency Crash Leads To Massive Lawsuit

Hailey Welch, best known as the “Hawk Tuah” girl, is in hot water as those involved in launching her cryptocurrency are facing a new lawsuit. The meme-coin she launched lost more than 95 percent of its value in a single day after it released, earlier this month. Lawyers for a group of investors taking legal action say the defendants “sold to the public without proper registration,” as caught by Newsweek. They’ve named the Tuah The Moon Foundation, OverHere Ltd, that company’s executive, Clinton So, as well as the meme-coin’s Los Angeles-based promoter, Alex Larson Schultz.

They write in their filing: “Through aggressive promotional campaigns and promises of future growth, Defendants created a speculative frenzy that caused the Token’s market value to spike shortly after launch, reaching a significant market capitalization. Defendants leveraged Welch’s celebrity status and connections to enhance the Token’s credibility and appeal, including discussing the $HAWK project during Welch’s podcasts featuring notable guests.”

Haliey Welch Throws Out First Pitch For A Mets’ Game

“Defendants leveraged the extensive social media following of Hailey Welch, a prominent social media personality known as the ‘Hawk Tuah Girl,’ to market the Token as a groundbreaking cryptocurrency project,” the filing continues. “Many of the investors were first-time cryptocurrency participants drawn to the project through Welch’s involvement. The rapid decline in the Token’s value caused substantial damages to investors who relied on Welch’s participation and the project’s stated road map.”

Hailey Welch blew up online after using the phrase, “hawk tuah,” during a viral YouTube interview. In the time since, she launched her own podcast, Talk Tuah, which has featured numerous celebrity guests, including Wiz Khalifa.

Yung Gravy Dismisses Claims That Hawk Tuah Girl Turned Him Down

A story that would have made no sense a year ago. Hawk Tuah Girl, aka Hailey Welch, has become a pseudo celebrity thanks to a viral TikTok interview. She’s exploded in the months since, popping up at country shows and booking podcast appearances with notable brands. Yung Gravy is one of the people who have taken notice. Welch (we’re not calling her Hawk Tuah for the duration of this article) claimed that the rapper slid into her DMs, but she turned him down. Now, though the Gravy Train is coming out with his side of the story.

Yung Gravy took to social media on August 19 to set the record straight. He reposted the article with Welch’s comments and wrote: “Can’t be nice anymore lol.” The rapper then posted a screenshot of the DM conversation in question. Yung Gravy gave Welch props for becoming a sensation, and proceeded to invite her to an upcoming concert. “Oh, and this ain’t just me trying to finesse cause I don’t know your man situation,” he explained. “But I wanted to have you at a show next month to hear my country sh*t.” Welch asked when the concert was, and Yung Grizzle posted a link to his tour.

Yung Gravy Provided Receipts For Their DM Convo

The screenshot doesn’t show any more of the conversation. Based on what we do see, however, Yung Gravy made it clear that he wasn’t trying to shoot his shot. Nor does it seem like Welch definitively shot him down. “I was like, nahhhh, I don’t know about that…,” Welch originally claimed. Yung Gravy seems to have won the internet’s favor in this exchange. A community note has been added to the original Welch quote providing the rapper’s POV. “Yung Gravy denies this,” the note reads. “He claims he only invited her to a concert.”

This is not the first time Yung Gravy has been linked to a viral celebrity. The rapper attended the 2023 Video Music Awards with Sheri Easterling, the mother of TikToker Addison Rae. The pair shocked many online, but Gravy refuted the “stunt date” accusations. In fact, he told E! Canada that he still keeps in touch with Easterling. “We still keep in touch a lot,” he noted. “It wouldn’t make sense for us to date because we live in different cities, but we keep in touch. Any show I have in Louisiana, she’ll be there.”

Well, the Mets have introduced another unconventional personality that is totally unrelated to baseball. Sort of.

Hailey Welch, the real life spitballer who went viral for her “Hawk Tuah” comment about oral sex, took the mound at Citi Field to throw out the first pitch for the Mets game against the Oakland A’s yesterday.

The 22-year-old Tennessee native rose to fame on social media when a street interview of her saying “hawk tuah” to describe oral sex went viral.

Mets fans and critics alike were confused as to why the Mets chose Welch to throw out the first pitch, but it must have been abad look for the Mets, who lost to the AL West last place A’s 7-6.

Even Eminem Has The ‘Hawk Tuah’ Girl On His Radar, As He Referenced To Promote His Upcoming Album

Twitter

You know a meme has reached peak saturation when even the notoriously techno-phobic Eminem is referencing it to promote his new albums. The “Hawk Tuah” girl, Hailey Welch, has been all over the place since her memorable street interview went viral on TikTok (including concerts with Zach Bryan and Shaquille O’Neal), and now, her catchphrase is part of the rollout for Eminem’s new album, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).

Em quoted the spitting onomatopoeia in the caption of a video featuring the grave of “beloved antagonist” Slim Shady (who apparently died at the ripe old age of 27). A passerby spits on the tombstone, which bears a familiar quote from the chorus of “Without Me,” then walks away… missing a hand bursting up out of the ground, suggesting that rumors of Mr. Shady’s demise might have been greatly exaggerated.

Em’s spent much of the rollout for the album poking fun at his alter ego, from making him the anachronistic butt of the joke in his “Houdini” video to putting him to the chainsaw in the video for “Tobey” to zipping him into a body bag on the album’s cover. Whether all this means Eminem’s truly retiring the rap persona — or just trolling all of his haters yet again — remains to be seen.

The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) is due 7/12 via Shady Records/Aftermath/Interscope. You can find more info here.

Number two: I quit my job at the spring factory, so I don’t have to eat Taco Bell all the time but I’m still going to do it anyways. [Number three:] I actually have to get ready more than one time out of the week now. I’m not allowed to look like Adam Sandler anymore.”
