Lil Nas X Criticized For Tweet About “Gays” In Africa

Lil Nas X recently faced a lot of criticism on social media after he tweeted: “where do the gays be in africa i wanna come there.” Moreover, this is not like his typical funny tweets, like ones responding to claims that he’s fake gay. Rather, this message has a particularly difficult context, as Uganda just passed brutal and discriminatory anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation. Furthermore, simply identifying as anything other than straight male or straight female could land citizens in prison for ten years. In fact, it’s one of the most sweeping and damaging anti-gay laws in the world, and many are criticizing the MONTERO artist for his comment.

However, this isn’t the first time in recent memory that Nas X caught himself in hot water. For example, he recently apologized for making a joke about gender transitions on Twitter, where he posted a picture of him in a more feminine look. While backlash was swift, his apology also angered many as he seemed to respond out of anger to critics. “Apologies to the trans community,” he wrote before telling someone unhappy with his apology to “eat [his] a**.” “I def handled that situation with anger instead of considering why it was not cool. much love to you guys. sorry.”

Lil Nas X’s Inflammatory Tweet About “Gays” In Africa

Still, regardless of that spat, this tweet points to a timelier and much more dangerous issue of LGBTQIA+ discrimination across a whole country. Not only could citizens face for ten years for their identity, but citizens face imprisonment for life or even a death sentence for non-heterosexual acts of intimacy and “aggravated homosexuality.” As someone who typically champions and defends the community, many expressed disappointment in Lil Nas X’s comment.

Meanwhile, it’s unclear if that tweet was in response to said legislation or if the “INDUSTRY BABY” is unaware of the tweet’s unfortunate timing. In any case, he has yet to respond to these criticism as of writing this article. Also, this heat comes just days after his Lollapalooza performance, where he played unreleased music and seemed to have a good time. Hopefully, he can clear up his intentions with this tweet and avoid putting his foot in his mouth in the future. If not, it will be hard for many fans to see him on stage. Regardless, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Lil Nas X.

Lil Nas X Claps Back At Troll Saying He’s “Fake Gay”

Time and time again, Lil Nas X proves that he’s always got the chops to respond artfully to online haters. Now, he faced some criticism for his Lollapalooza Chile set, although it had nothing to do with the excellent performance itself. One particular tweet made social media rounds alleging that the MONTERO artist is faking his sexuality. “I feel like he’s not really gay or not really that feminine it’s so forced,” the tweet read. Of course, the brain behind “Old Town Road” and so many more hits had a cheeky response up his sleeve.

“Oh no guys it’s the estrogen expert,” he fired off on Saturday morning (March 18). Also, he responded to another comment that suggested a similar close-minded mentality. “One day we will realise that Lil Nas X is not gay,” another tweeter expressed. “He just finessed the LGBT community and got to the bag.” This time around, his response was much more elaborate. “Do I have to give head at 3:45 am behind a McDonalds in Chicago on a Friday night during the middle of pride month while streaming on twitch and IG live for y’all to realize I am really a fruitcake?” he clapped back.

Lil Nas X Responds To Trolls Claiming He’s “Fake Gay”

In fact, these responses to Nas X’s show initially made headlines for how another rapper worked herself into the fray. Moreover, Saweetie liked that first tweet that the “INDUSTRY BABY” singer and rapper responded to about him being “fake gay.” Unsurprisingly, responses to that mere like prompted the “My Type” rapper to clarify her like on Twitter. “He was lookin fine af,” she tweeted shortly after people started noticing her like. “That’s why I liked the video I didn’t see the shadiness …. *unlikes*.”

Meanwhile, most people actually took the set for what it was and praised the unreleased track that Nas X played in the clips that these tweets reference. Furthermore, it’s a Saucy Santana collab titled “Down Souf Hoes” that’s sure to fire up any dance floor when it drops. Honestly, people trying to get under his skin only makes his hilarious responses and personality that much more gratifying. Regardless, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Lil Nas X.

The MONTERO Star Claps Back Again

Slim Thug Calls Designer Clothes “Gay”

Slim Thug recently said via Instagram that the secret to staying rich is avoiding “gay” designer clothes. Of course, this kind of narrative grows more dated and worrisome every year, although he said he didn’t intend the term to target the LGBTQIA+ community. Still, his point took aim at more expensive and flamboyant clothing, which Slim Thug believes makes people wear the same expensive thing. Moreover, the Houston rapper said that he decides to spend his money on expensive jewelry instead, so he still wears a hefty price tag. While it’s not the most controversial take in the world, one can’t help but think that he could’ve said it differently.

“Let me show you guys why I still got money and a lot of rappers went broke,” he began. Then, BIGslim showed off a $5.99 T-shirt he recently purchased. “The $5.99 shirt. Let me see how much the shorts is. The shorts, $12.99. Less than $20. I be in the club with this s**t on and you don’t know ’cause I got on a million dollars worth of jewelry.”

Designer Clothes Are “Gay,” Says Slim Thug

“But y’all be buying that designer,” he continued. “Y’all be looking gay ’cause all the designers are gay and I’m the only one standing out here. There be 10 of y’all standing around with the same Christian Dior shirt, 10 of y’all with the same Gucci shirt, and I be standing out with the plain T that cost me $5. Same as a happy meal or less. That’s how you stay rich longer. I just wanted to give y’all that game today.” Later, he took to the comments to clarify his use of the word.

“For the gay ppl who are wondering what I mean when I say look gay I mean when a hood dude wearing a Gucci rainbow shirt and a man purse no offense to y’all tho,” he wrote with a few rainbow emojis. Regardless of whether you think it’s in poor taste or not, at least he didn’t double down. For more updates and the latest news from Slim Thug and your favorite artists, stick around on HNHH.

Minor League Baseball Player Anderson Comás Come Out As Gay

In the last decade, most of the major American men’s professional leagues have seen athletes come out as gay. One of the first incidences of this was Jason Collins. Collins was the first openly gay player in the NBA. He first made this announcement in 2013 when he was a member of the Washington Wizards. A year later, Michael Sam became the first openly gay player drafted to the NFL. Drafted by the St. Louis Rams in 2014, Sam had a short-lived, but inspiring career. Seven years later, Oakland Raider Carl Nassib announced he too was gay. Since Sam never played an official game in the NFL, Nassib became the first openly gay active player.

Next, it was baseball’s turn. In 2015, David Denson became the first player affiliated with an MLB team to come out as openly gay. Denson played within the Milwaukee Brewers system from 2013-2017. However, Denson never played a game in the Major League. He spent his entire four-year career playing in the minor leagues. So, the MLB still has seen an openly gay player play in one of their major league games.

Anderson Comás Speaks

However, it is still great to see any athlete be comfortable in their own skin. That is why Sunday (Feb. 19) was another terrific day for the MLB. Sunday saw minor league pitcher Anderson Comás announce he is openly gay via Instagram. In his post, he asserted that homophobes were not welcome and that he is a lover with a great soul. “This may be my most personal thing I ever share and it’s that I’m proudly and happily part of the LGTBQ+ community,” he wrote. “I’m also a human with a great soul, I’m respectful, I’m a lover, I love my family and friends and that’s what really matters, I enjoy my work a lot, being a professional baseball player is the best thing that happened to me so I just wanna say something to those people that says that gay people can not be someone in this life, well look at me I’m Gay and I’m a professional athlete so that didn’t stopped me to make my dreams come true.”

Comás is currently a member of the Arizona White Sox, a minor-league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. He has not played a game yet in the majors. But, the Dominican Republic native still has a lot of his career ahead of him. The White Sox’s assistant general manager of player development Chris Getz also released a statement celebrating the moment. “Anderson first shared his news with us last year. And I was very pleased that he was comfortable sharing with us in player development,” he said. “I also was happy at the reaction across the organization, which as you would expect was to support, help and congratulate a teammate. With his social media post today, we all are so proud of Anderson and that he is comfortable sharing such an important personal part of his life so openly.”

NeNe Leakes Says Son Brentt Isn’t Gay After He Seemingly Comes Out On TikTok

NeNe Leakes previously rose to fame thanks to the years she spent on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta reality series. Fans loved her for her hilarious commentary, bold style, and vivacious personality. Now that she’s no longer a part of the show, many continue to keep up with the glamorous life of her and her family.

Of course, the 55-year-old previously suffered a terrible loss when her long-time husband, Gregg, died of cancer in 2021. It was an undeniably tough few months for the New York-born entertainer. However, her strength and the love of those around her carried her through.

Unfortunately, at the end of last year, Leakes was struck by tragedy once again. This time, it was her son, Brentt Leakes, who suddenly fell ill. He surprisingly suffered from a heart attack and stroke at just 23 years old.

“Brentt doesn’t drink or do drugs. And obviously, they’ve tested him for all of those things,” the mother of one told followers when breaking the news. “They also tested him for HIV. They were thinking that maybe he had caught COVID and he didn’t know that he had COVID.”

Thankfully, the young man has since made a full recovery and has recently been showing off his impressive weight loss on social media.

In addition to flaunting his slimmer figure, Leakes also made headlines earlier this week when he seemingly came out on TikTok. In a video that’s been making rounds online, the young man participates in a trend where creators intentionally miss a shot into a basket. “If I miss, I’m gay,” he wrote over the clip.

Many saw this as NeNe’s son announcing his sexuality to the world. However, in a recent interview, the Glee actress says that Brentt isn’t gay. She apparently told her only child that she would still love and accept him if he was, but he denied the allegations.

“All my friends were calling me, calling him, concerned if he’s gay or not,” Leakes went on. “I didn’t really know what the big deal is?! [His] happiness is the most important thing to me. If my son, today, told me he was gay, I would be 100% okay with it.”

Check out everything NeNe had to say about the situation on The Breakfast Club below, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.
