Earlier this week, New York Giants star Jihad Ward went off about Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. His comments came after the latest episode of Hard Knocks appeared to show Rodgers laughing about teammate Randall Cobb performing an illegal block that left a Giants player concussed. “Everybody going to get pissed off at that. The whole team was pissed off, you know what I’m saying? They know what they did. I know what [Cobb] did, coaches know what he did, my teammates know what he did. I’m the only one sticking up for [McCain],” Ward said. Bobby McCain has spent the past week on concussion protocol. Cobb is yet to be fined by the league for the illegal hit.

Meanwhile, Rodgers has claimed that he was only laughing because the penalty wouldn’t have been called at the start of his and Cobb’s careers. However, he told reports that he had also chastised Cobb for the hit. However, not the veteran quarterback has given a more substantial statement in response to Ward’s claims.

“He thought we were laughing at his teammate? That never happened and I think he’s making shit up,” Rodgers said. “I don’t care.” However, Rodgers went on to suggest that jealousy may have been behind Ward’s comments. “We’ve had a lot of attention — before we did Hard Knocks. T.J. Hockenson Signs Historic Deal With The Vikings

T.J. Hockenson has become the NFL’s highest-paid tight end. While the details of his new detail with the Vikings were not made public, sources revealed them to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter. Hockenson will make $68.5 million over the next four years, with $42.5 million of the contract guaranteed. The Vikings acquired Hockenson, widely considered one of the best tight ends in the league, in the middle of the 2022 season. Furthermore, with Aaron Rodgers no longer a division rival, the team will look to become the new Kings of the (NFC) North. The Vikings last won consecutive division titles in 2008 and 2009. Additionally, locking up Hockenson on a long-term deal means that the only major outstanding contract is Justin Jefferson, whose rookie deal runs through 2024.

Hard Knocks may only cover training camp and the preseason, but the latest episode might have set up some regular-season beef. In the most recent episode of the New York Jets’ season, portrayal of their preseason finale against the cross-town Giants riled up the G-Men. “Everybody going to get pissed off at that. The whole team was pissed off, you know what I’m saying?” Defensive End Jihad Ward said of how the show showcased an illegal block by the Jets’ Randall Cobb. Cobb had hit safety Bobby McCain with an illegal blindside block. McCain was left concussed by the show focused on Aaron Rodgers seemingly laughing about it with his old Packers teammate.

“They know what they did. I know what [Cobb] did, coaches know what he did, my teammates know what he did,” Ward said. “I’m the only one sticking up for [McCain].” Ward was also shown trading barbs with Rodgers and going as far as to lightly shove him at one point. “See, the thing is, they’re going to entertain. They’re going to show his part — HBO, whatever stuff is going on, ‘Hard Knocks.’ They’re going to show his part. They weren’t even in the whole scenario of what really went down. They’re going to show his side of the story. … It’s all about Aaron Rodgers at the [end] of the day. They sign him, it is what it is. They’re going to show his part and make me look like a sucker. But I ain’t going for that.”

Ward Vows Revenge

“My side of the story is I’m not going to let none of my teammates be backed down like that,” he said. “I’m going to ride for my teammates.” Meanwhile, Rodgers has claimed that he was only laughing because the penalty wouldn’t have been called at the start of his and Cobb’s careers. However, he told reports that he had also chastised Cobb for the hit. But Ward isn’t sweating things too much.

“It’s cool, though. That’s how they roll. I think we play them soon, it is what it is,” Ward concluded. Despite playing in the same stadium, the Jets and Giants only play each other every four years due to the NFL’s inter-conference rotation. Therefore, their 2023 matchup will be the first 2019. Both teams have very different looks since that last meeting, now both standing as bona fide playoff contenders. They are set to face off in Week 8, on October 29. That should be far enough into the season to have established whether these two sides are legit this year.

49ers & Raiders Fans Brawl At In-N-Out Leads To Stabbing

If you are an NFL fan, you know that those who support the 49ers and the Raiders don’t exactly love each other. Overall, these fans used to just be a bridge away from one another. On one hand, you had the 49ers fans in San Francisco. Subsequently, the Raiders fans were in Oakland. These days, however, the Raiders fans are in Las Vegas. That said, there are still quite a few supports in the Bay Area with lots of resentment towards those in San Fran. Unfortunately, that showed at a Santa Clara In-N-Out over the weekend.

According to TMZ, fans of the 49ers and the Raiders were at the local In-N-Out when all hell broke loose. Fans started brawling in the middle of the dining area, and bodies were flying. Additionally, some patrons were left bloody as cops had a hard time pulling people from each other. Overall, it was not a great scene, especially since it was reported that two people were also stabbed. They were subsequently taken to the hospital and treated for injuries. Thankfully, they are going to be okay.

At the time of writing this, no one has been charged for the fight. However, the man who stabbed two people is currently on the run. Police are looking for him, but for now, they have yet to get anywhere. As you all know, fights between fanbases happen all the time. However, they usually take place at the stadium where the two teams are playing. Instead, this incident was far from the arena, after a preseason game that didn’t even involve the Raiders.

Hopefully, fans start to calm down a bit over the coming years. It feels like these fights have gotten out of hand, especially with two people being stabbed. High School Football Coach Arrested After Punching Player On Live TV

With documentaries like BS High hitting streaming platforms, there is increased scrutiny on High School football. Overall, there are some bad people associated with high school athletics. While some claim to have your child’s best interest in mind, that is not always the case. It can be extremely difficult to navigate these spaces, especially when you think about what is on the line. Although the coaches are now under more scrutiny than ever, some are still abusing their positions of power.

According to TMZ, a coach at an Atlanta high school was arrested recently after punching a player on the sidelines. The game was being televised, and consequently, the punch was caught on cameras. This match was between Mays H.S. and Douglas H.S. Subsequently after the punch, the player was in quite a bit of pain and was even clutching at his stomach. It was a horrific display that was immediately dealt with. According to Atlanta Public Schools, the coach is being investigated, as we speak. The coach will also be charged.

High School Football Under Scrutiny

“Video from the live broadcast of the game appears to show the lay coach physically assaulting a player,” APS said, according to TMZ. “The adult will be charged with simple battery and faces administrative charges from the district as well. The safety and well-being of all APS students remains a high priority for the district and all APS employees are held to the highest standard of conduct and professionalism.” Overall, it is good to see the school system acting swiftly in this instance. Otherwise, who knows what that coach could have done to another player?

This is all very distressing and we hope this is not part of a larger trend. Skip Bayless Looked Dejected During “Undisputed,” Michael Irvin Goes On Epic Rant: Watch

Skip Bayless has officially relaunched Undisputed today. Overall, this is a huge deal as the series enters a whole new era. Instead of the one-on-one format of the past, Bayless is now surrounded by a full panel. This is a panel that includes the likes of Keyshawn Johnson, Michael Irvin, and Richard Sherman. Sure, they are all football players, but they certainly know a lot about all types of sports. Additionally, football season is upon us, so it only makes sense that Skip would go in this direction.

As it turns out, the very first episode was a bit of a wild ride for all of the parties involved. One thing that Skip probably didn’t account for was just how strong the personalities are. Moreover, with no moderator to give people their own turn, the show was a bit disjointed. In one of the clips below, you can see how Skip was not able to get a single word in. Although he did try, Johnson, Sherman, and Irvin were able to overcome Skip and dominate the conversation.

Subsequently, Irvin unleashed an incredible rant in which he reiterated his credentials in the game of football. It made for some amazing entertainment, however, there is no doubt that Bayless was irked by his lack of speaking time. Only time will tell whether or not he demands another set of co-hosts or even a format change.

He should fit right in, as the show skews hard into outrageous behavior and scolding hot takes.

The fall slate of talking heads is filling out nicely. Sharpe will be on First Take to battle it out with Stephen A. Meanwhile, Club Shay Shay has found a new home on The Volume, the sports network founded by Colin Cowherd. Skip Bayless will be joined by Richard Sherman, Rachel Nichols, and Lil Wayne. Undisputed will also get Michael Irwin and potentially Keyshawn Johnson. However, the Johnson move has reportedly been blocked by ESPN, despite the network laying him off in June.

In short, sports punditry has been distilled into its most concentrated form for the foreseeable future. Everyone has moved to a place where their hot takes and screaming will be its most potent.
