Kodak Black Pleads Not Guilty To Drug Charges

Koda Black has entered a plea of not guilty to a litany of charges filed against him in Florida this week. Black is accused of cocaine possession, evidence tampering, and the improper stopping of a vehicle. Black was released on bond after paying a bail of at least $5000. Furthermore, Black has reportedly requested a trial by jury. It’s unclear when Black will be expected back in court. However, he remains free for the moment.

The Florida rapper was arrested earlier this week after police officers found Black’s car illegally parked by the side of the road in Plantation. After noting “burnt weed” and “alcohol” in the car, officers reportedly witnessed white powder “falling from Black’s mouth”. This powder was later determined to be cocaine. It is believed that Black had attempted to eat the cocaine in order to conceal it from the cops. Furthermore, Black is now on pre-trial release. He may not leave Broward County and must speak with his Pretrial Services Officer twice a week. Additionally, Black is prohibited from consuming alcohol or illegal substances before his trial begins.

Meanwhile, rapper John Gabbana (aka Holy Gabbana) spoke on Black’s arrest. He called it a result of no one in Black’s life holding him accountable. “When I reached out da first time ppl said I was tripping. He’s y’all favorite rapper so y’all judgement was bias but dats what’s wrong w society today,” he explained. “Too many yes men in da circle n nobody round to tell ppl da hard truth, which could possibly save someone’s life,” Gabbana said.

Furthermore, fans have continued to express their disappointment of the path Black has gone down. “Kodak gets the blessing of the century by randomly getting pardoned by the president and then he just keeps getting in trouble,” one HNHH commenter wrote of the situation. Kodak Black ran into another bump in the road following his latest arrest. Police arrested the Florida rapper, who received a presidential pardon from Donald Trump, on December 7th on charges including possession of cocaine, tampering with evidence, and a vehicle-related offense. Here’s what we know so far.

The Arrest

NBC Miami reports the arrest took place in Plantation, Florida after an officer spotted a black Bentley SUV parked in the roadway. The officer found Kodak Black asleep in the driver’s seat as the scent of cannabis emanated from the car. Police said Kodak Black confirmed that there was cannabis in the vehicle. However, after spotting a Styrofoam cup that reeked of alcohol, police asked Kodak Black to step out of the vehicle. Further investigation led police to discover cannabis-related items, and a suspicious white powder that fell on the ground next to Kodak while he stood in front of the patrol vehicle.

The police report also said that they noticed Kodak had a “mouth full of white powder,” per TMZ. They later saw “several white rock-like objects” which Yak allegedly told them were Percocet. Upon further testing, the white powder was confirmed to be cocaine. Additionally, Black was found in possession of a clear plastic baggie that also underwent testing. Police also towed the Bentley SUV, describing damage to the passenger side door and bumper. “It appeared it was involved in a recent crash,” the report stated.

Legal Troubles

This isn’t Kodak Black’s first brush with the law. His prior arrests include incidents involving drug-related charges, weapon offenses, and issues with compliance related to court-mandated tests. Earlier in 2023, a warrant was issued due to his failure to undergo a mandatory drug and alcohol test. Ultimately, it led to his arrest.

6ix9ine’s seemingly endless legal troubles have dealt him yet another blow. The rapper now could end up having to pay a verdict of nearly $10 million to a Florida woman. According to AllHipHip, a jury in Florida awarded Alexis Salaberrios a verdict of $9.8 million after the rapper failed to appear at a civil trial earlier this year. The civil case spawned from the rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, hitting Salaberrios in the head with a bottle of champagne.

In the time since the verdict, Slaaberrios claims that 6ix9ine has made it difficult for her to collect her money on purpose. She claims that he’s deliberately hiding his assets. His aim being to avoid giving her the opportunity to collect what she’s owed. As a result, she moved for the court to allow her to seize his income in order to make up the amount in the suit. One thing 6ix9ine and his fans probably weren’t expecting recently was for Drake to take shots at him. But that’s exactly what happened on his new Scary Hours 3 EP. Across the new songs, Drizzy took shots at many people. Most notably, Joe Budden, Kanye West, and rival Pusha T. But on the song “Stories About My Brother” he delivers one particularly notable line. “Y’all the type to catch a charge, head to the deposition/ And act like the rapper named after the sex position” Drake says in reference to Hernandez.

Earlier this year, the rapper and some accomplices reportedly attacked producers in the Dominican Republic. The high-profile arrest that followed saw crowds of fans following him around everywhere he went. Shortly afterward, he announced on Instagram that he was forced to stay in the Dominican Republic for the next six months. However, it’s been equally as exhausting to watch our favourite creatives not only feud with each other, but with the law as well. 2023 in particular has been a huge year for crime, and it only seems to be getting more intense as we move into the final month. Of course, Diddy and Cassie’s quickly resolved legal drama has been the hottest topic of conversation this past week. However, a story coming out of Florida about aspiring rap diva Key Vhani has not caught our attention.

As NBC Miami reports, 27-year-old Kevhani Camilla Hicks was arrested for second-degree murder after allegedly gunning down her manager on October 9. The incident was caught on surveillance camera and clearly shows the accused killer arguing with a man beside a parked car before things turned physical. Two men pin the recording artist down, though she’s able to free herself and walk away. Afterward, Vhani reaches into her purse to pull out a gun and open fire multiple times. As the victim runs and eventually collapses on the roadway, she continues to shoot at him.

Vengeance likely felt sweet, but unfortunately for Hicks, a white sedan struck her before fleeing the scene. Arrest reports state authorities responded to a ShotSpotter alert where they found the entertainer suffering from blunt force injuries nearby, and her manager lying on the ground. When speaking to the police, Vhani claimed self-defence, noting that she was in fear for her life.

A judge ultimately granted her a $50K bond and house arrest last week before her trial unfolds. Now that she’s back in the real world, the starlet couldn’t wait to share an update on her Instagram page. “I’m finally home after experiencing something so traumatic and life-changing,” she began. “I have three broken rids and bruises all over so I’m currently healing and getting rest.”

Shaq’s Daughter Commits To Florida

Me’Arah O’Neal, the daughter and youngest child of Shaq, has signed a national letter of intent with the Florida Gators. In a ceremony at her stepfather’s church in Texas, O’Neal chose Florida over seven other schools, including her father’s alma mater, LSU. “I went on the Florida visit, and I had a feeling that’s where I belonged. And that I was going to be most successful if I went to go play at Florida. I felt like I connected with Coach Kelly more than I connected with any of the other schools that recruited me. She really cares about me not just on the court but off the court. That’s important for me,” O’Neal said.

The #33 recruit in the 2024 class, O’Neal joins a promising Gators class that also includes #16 recruit Alivia McGill, the highest-ranked recruit Florida has ever landed in women’s basketball. Furthermore, O’Neal said that the choice to sign with the Gators was hers alone. “My family was just there to support me. I was pressuring myself to make a decision, but I learned I had to be patient. And I did make this decision on my own,” she said.

How Good Is Shaq’s Daughter?

Due to WNBA eligibility rules, O’Neal won’t be able to declare for the draft until 2028. However, she’s made it clear that it’s a step she wants to take. “I wanna make it to the WNBA. I wanna hold my own name, I wanna just be the best basketball player that I could be. Just reach my full potential and get a championship, make All-Star. Do all the big stuff and eventually make the Hall of Fame,” O’Neal said. Additionally, it’s a goal that her father believes is completely possible. “If she keeps it up, she will definitely be in the history books,” Shaq told ESPN.

It’s still unclear where O’Neal’s ceiling is. However, both her brothers and her coach think she’s one of the next big things for women’s basketball. “I’ve seen it [her game] develop tremendously. Because when we were kids, we’d always go at it. And like I said, I’d rough her up,” noted her brother Shaqir, who plays for Texas Southern. “We haven’t seen the best of her yet, like, not even close. I think we’re just scratching the surface. She’s just starting to blossom. … But we’ll see some amazing things,” added her private coach, ex-NBAer Moochie Norris.

In fact, this time around, Trump was actually able to get his name right, which probably felt really good for the rapper.

At this stage, there isn’t even a guarantee that Trump will be the Republican nominee. Based on current polls, however, he does have a great chance of winning.
