The Most Anticipated Hip-Hop Albums Of Spring 2024

Anticipated Hip-Hop Albums

The arrival of spring doesn’t just mean the awakening of nature (and the loss of an hour of sleep), it also brings the recording industry back to life. While the early months of Q1 can generally be a little sleepy — with a few exceptions, of course — as the weather creeps back toward the warmth of the summer, we can expect more new releases from some of the biggest names in music.

These days, it can be a little tricky to anticipate which artists are aiming for a spring release, though. Album release cycles have gotten shorter and shorter, and in hip-hop especially, new projects can fall out of the sky with little to no warning. With that said, we’re going to do our best to run through the most anticipated hip-hop releases of the season, under the assumption that most if not all of the artists named here would like a dominant run thoughout the summer — or at least, some new material for the festivals. Let’s start with the ones we know:

March 2024 Hip-Hop Releases

March 14: Kenny Mason — 9

Atlanta rapper Kenny Mason is easily one of the hottest names simmering just under the radar thanks to his distinctive, grungy style and high-profile co-signs from the likes of Denzel Curry, Freddie Gibbs, and JID. 9 will be his second album after 2020’s Angelic Hoodrat. He just released a pair of singles that suggest his unique blend of shoegaze, grunge rock, and screamo-rap is primed for its next evolution.

March 15: Tierra Whack — World Wide Whack

Fans of the Philly battle rapper turned whimsical mad scientist have been waiting for a proper album for going on six years now. Her 2018 EP Whack World introduced listeners to a fantastical approach toward genre and subject matter that established Whack as one of the most intriguing names in hip-hop, and her debut album — which she announced this January — will give her the opportunity to expand on that foundation.

March 22: Future & Metro Boomin — We Don’t Trust You

It’s only been two months and some change and already a pattern is beginning to develop. If you’re going to release an album fans have been waiting for for years, it seems, you might as well turn it into multiple projects with release dates scattered across months. Kanye (sorta) did it, and now, Metro Boomin and Future are following in his footsteps, announcing that their heavily anticipated joint album will be released in two parts. The first arrives in March.

March 29: Rico Nasty & Boys Noize — HVRDC0RE DR3AMZ

On Leap Day, Rico Nasty announced that her ongoing chemistry with German DJ Boys Noize would bear another new fruit in the form of a joint EP. After teaming up on “Girl Crush” and “Money,” two of Rico’s more intriguing songs of the past few years, it’ll be fascinating to see her step more into her collaborator’s world on the EP, following a number of peers in blending hip-hop with various styles of EDM.

April 2024 Hip-Hop Releases

April 12: Future & Metro Broomin — We Still Don’t Trust You

The second of Future and Metro’s collaborations will arrive just two weeks after the first, an impressive turnaround time that has paid dividends for the Atlanta rapper in the past. Future’s 2017 albums Future and Hndrxx were released just a week apart and both halves of the pair went No. 1, while the first spawned the massive hit “Mask Off” — which was, of course, produced by Metro Boomin. Their creative chemistry is certainly something to look forward to.

April 26: AG Club – BRODIE WORLD

The Northern California rap clique shook up the world in 2020 with the release of their breakout hit “Memphis,” and has kept up a steady stream of releases ever since. With each, they grow a little more polished and a little more experimental, growing into their group name (Avant Garde Club) a little more. BRODIE WORLD will be their first proper release since 2022’s Imposter Syndrome, which is exciting because there’s a lot of growth that can happen in two years.

2024 Hip-Hop Albums Release TBA

Here’s where we start speculating. A large number of rap’s biggest names are set to release albums this year, many of whom will be returning from multi-year hiatuses, making the products of their time away all the more tantalizing. Below are just a few.

ASAP Rocky — Don’t Be Dumb

Rocky’s last album was 2018’s Testing. That’s a long time to go without hearing a new full collection of music from the haute couture Harlemite, who’s been busy with fatherhood (and some ill-timed legal trouble). His album has supposedly been done since 2022, so it’s only a matter of time until he gives listeners a release date; here’s hoping it’s sooner rather than later.

Baby Keem — Child With Wolves

Baby Keem made a huge splash in 2021 with his electrifying debut The Melodic Blue, and recently began teasing a new era after releasing the album’s companion film late last year.

Cardi B — TBA

Let’s say Cardi finally kicks her rollout into high gear after releasing two singles in six months, “Bongos” and “Like What,” and teasing another. It seems she keeps dipping her toe back into an album cycle, but a mean case of imposter syndrome combined with impossibly high standards has made determining if she’s really shooting her shot or just pump-faking again almost impossible to determine. She’s fortunate to be one of the few artists who can keep getting away with this pretty much indefinitely, but I’d like to hope she’s accepted the fear of potential failure and just goes for it. (Or pulls a Kendrick Lamar in 2014 and goes full avant-garde with it, scaring the hoes and making herself pretty much untouchable for the foreseeable future.)

Flo Milli — Fine Ho, Stay

Announced in October 2023, Flo Milli’s second album has the potential to turn her into a household name — especially with the ongoing and growing success of its single “Never Lose Me.” If she wants to strike while the iron is hot, a spring release might be her best bet to maintain momentum.

GloRilla — TBA

Big Glo has a lot of buzz around her name right now, both for her hard-hitting new single “Yeah Glo!” and an oopsie moment on Instagram thanks to her unfamiliarity with her new endowments. Might as well capitalize ahead of the summer, right?

Ice Spice — Y2K

TikTok star and current rap it-girl Ice Spice has been sneakily rolling out her debut album over the past few months, beginning with flying a flag at her label headquarters, dropping another catchy single, and announcing that her album is finished recording. There’s no time like the present, and with her penchant for dropping summertime-dominating tracks, an April or May release would give her plenty of lead time to once again take over the hottest months.

J. Cole — The Fall Off

The only other rapper whose album has been consistently sought after since 2018 (mostly by his own design), J. Cole could overtake friendly rivals Drake and Kendrick Lamar in the conversation if he manages to beat them both to market this year.

Rapsody — TBA

Poor Rapsody. If you happen to follow the North Carolina rapper on social media, you’ve probably seen her repost the near-constant stream of pleas from fans for a follow-up to 2019’s Eve. She’s been promising an announcement is coming imminently, and considering the curtailed album cycles of the current climate, if she does make that announcement in the next few weeks or months, that would almost certainly mean an album is following relatively quickly after.

SZA & Flo Milli’s “Never Lose Me” Remix Coming On Rap Diva’s Next Album

There’s a lot of competition among female rappers these days. Instead of letting this hold them back, our favourite femcees are using it to get more creative than ever before, constantly finding new ways to set themselves apart from contemporaries. A great example of this is Flo Milli, who nearly always stays out of the way in terms of drama, but has never been known to miss when spitting over a beat. She particularly proved this during last year’s celebrations for the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and continues to make her presence felt while readying her sophomore studio album, Fine Ho, Stay.

Recent singles to come from the Alabama native include “Never Lose Me” (plus subsequent remixes with Lil Yachty and Bryson Tiller) and “BGC.” Music lovers think these titles might arrive on Milli’s next album, along with tracks like “Hot Box,” “Chocolate Rain,” and “Fruit Loop.” As her most popular release continues to make rounds on TikTok and Instagram, the 24-year-old has plans to capitalize on it even further, this time tapping a renowned female vocalist to join her on the gerreaux-produced beat.

SZA & Flo Milli Confirm Their First Collab is OTW

Since Milli first hinted at joining forces with SZA, we’ve been eagerly waiting for the next edition of “Never Lose Me” to hit streamers. However, the “Pussycat Doll” hitmaker shared via Twitter/X earlier this month that she won’t be sharing this version as a single. “I’m not putting the remix out ’til I drop my album ‘cuz [I know] how y’all get lol,” she teased. “But it’s in the box 😂🤌🏾,” the TDE songstress chimed in, letting us know she’s submitted her verse.

With her Fine Ho, Stay LP being confirmed over seven months ago now, hip-hop heads are growing curious to see who Flo Milli will reference both aesthetically and sonically throughout the project. In the meantime, we know she’ll be joining Gunna on his Bittersweet Tour, which is set to kick off in early May. Check out the full list of dates at the link below and tap back in with HNHH later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

According To Joe Budden, The ‘Girl Rapper Wave Is Over’ For Several Reasons, But He Did Make A Few Exceptions

Joe Budden REVOLT Summit 2019

Joe Budden is no stranger to controversy. In fact, the musician-turned-media figure’s takes on trending topics on his namesake podcast often land him in hot water. In fact, his past opinions of women rap stars Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion had fans pulling out their pitchforks. Well, Budden’s recent hot take will have them on the attack yet again.

Yesterday (March 2), in a teaser clip for a forthcoming episode, Budden boldly claimed rap fans shouldn’t get excited about the push for women acts. “Y’all ain’t gonna want to hear it from me, but the girl rapper wave is over,” he said. “Just telling you what it is. I’m normally a few months ahead with this stuff, sometimes a few years ahead with this stuff. The girl rapper wave is finito.”

Budden went on to share the reasonings behind his claim. “I think labels are looking at it like, ‘Very few of y’all are selling records, it’s too much work to get your coin back, we got to go do brand deals all over the world with y’all, y’all are expensive, some of y’all are annoying,’ and none of these records are working,” he said.

But all hope isn’t lost, according to him, as there are a select few recording artists that he expects to have longevity. “The cream rises to the top,” he said. “So, Latto shall remain; Flo Milli shall remain; Rapsody will always be there, but she wasn’t really a part of [that scene]. But all of that, ‘Go find a girl, send her to Columbia, get it done, put her in the studio with fucking Mike WiLL [Made-It] or any one of them n****s’ … all that planting the girl in the scene, getting the record and it taking off — that wave is over.”

Those shows marked Gunna’s return to the stage after spending much of 2022 in jail, while the Bittersweet Tour will be his first since 2019.

When Will Flo Milli & SZA’s ‘Never Lose Me’ Remix Come Out?

flo milli
Getty Image

Flo Milli’s new single “Never Lose Me” is the Alabama rapper’s first to achieve a Billboard Hot 100 chart position, debuting at No. 84 at the end of December. It has since climbed to No. 19 — a testament to its popularity both on TikTok and on streaming — but it figures to shoot even higher when its remix featuring 2023 chart champion SZA drops. The two rappers have been teasing its release (yes, SZA is RAPPING rapping in the snippets they’ve shared) for the past two weeks, with SZA previewing the lyrics on Instagram and Twitter before mischievously deleting the posts.

The collaboration has likely been in the works for even longer than that, as SZA recorded her first in-studio meeting with Flo nearly three years on Twitter. As yet, there’s no release date, but from Flo Milli’s reactions to SZA’s verse, it sounds like it’s coming along and should be hitting streamers sooner rather than later.

The remix will almost certainly see a huge bump in the track’s streaming numbers, as fans weren’t able to get enough of SZA last year, driving her second album SOS to ten non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 and turning its singles “Kill Bill” and “Snooze” into streaming juggernauts, with the former breaking Lil Nas X’s record for the longest-running No. 1 on the Hot 100 at 21 weeks. In early 2023, Top Dawg Entertainment president Punch, who has been navigating the New Jersey native’s career all along, said that she could very well release a full rap album and it looks like the “Never Lose Me” remix could go a long way toward supporting that argument.

It’s not the only release from SZA for which fans have been waiting impatiently. She’s been teasing a deluxe version of SOS called Lana (a shortened version of her real name, Solana) since November, only revealing a few potential album covers in the meantime.

Flo Milli Taps Bryson Tiller For New Version Of Her Hit Song “Never Lose Me”

Back at the very start of December, Alabama rapper and singer Flo Milli dropped one of her singles that might land on her upcoming album next year. “Never Lose Me” has been becoming a hit amongst her fans and the general public. The reason is because of how catchy and whispy Flo’s melodies are on it. Because of all of the hype surrounding it, she decided to add some new versions.

On Christmas Eve, Milli released an EP with all five renditions. It includes the original, a Lil Yachty feature, sped and slowed down, and a Bryson Tiller appearance. The latter is the one we are going to touch on today, as it was released recently compared to Yahcty’s. Adding the Kentucky born singer and rapper to this was a genius move by Flo.

Listen To “Never Lose Me” By Flo Milli And Bryson Tiller

Essentially, he is rapping from the perspective of the man that Milli is messing around with. He raps with a blistering pace nearly matching the same Flo (see what we did there). Yachty took a more melodic approach using his “Poland” like warbles. Overall, it is good to hear Bryson on some newer tracks. He recently dropped a Soundcloud exclusive EP not too long ago as well.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new version of “Never Lose Me” by Flo Milli and Bryson Tiller? Is this the best edition of the track, why or why not? Where does this song rank amongst the rest of the hit songs in 2023? Is Flo going to blow up even more next year, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around Flo Milli and Bryson Tiller. Finally, stay with us for the best song posts throughout the week.

Tryna earn keep had to flex, uh-huh

Flo Milli Reminds Us That Fumbling Her Is A Major L On Her New Single, ‘Never Lose Me’

Flo Milli continues to make a case for why you want her on your team. Tonight (December 1), the Alabama native has dropped her catchy new bop of a single, “Never Lose Me.”

On “Never Lose Me,” Flo reminds us that she’s hard to woo, and she’s even harder to keep.

“How you gon’ prove you could treat me right? / You stole my heart like a thief in the night / Yeah, he my man, he was never your type / If you try me, ho, it’s on sight,” she raps on one of the song’s verses.

On the chorus, she hammers home to a romantic interest, “Tell me you don’t ever wanna lose me.”

This particular single is one of Flo’s more melodic songs, as she showcases both her rap skills and her soft, R&B vocal stylings. In an interview with The Forty Five, which took place earlier this year, Flo said we can expect her upcoming second album, Fine Ho, Stay to demonstrate more rawness.

“I’ve been [exploring that vulnerability] a little bit more,” said Flo. “But I’ve been exploring lots of different pockets. Y’all will see on the new album the versatility that I bring.”
