Flo Milli has released a fresh spin on Too $hort’s iconic track “Blow the Whistle” titled “B.T.W.” The reimagined song is part of the Pixel RePresents series, a collaboration between entertainment company Mass Appeal, Google Pixel, and Sony Music Entertainment’s Certified. This series aims to elevate women in Hip Hop by showcasing talented female rappers reenvisioning genre-defining songs to celebrate Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary.

Accompanied by a behind-the-scenes video created on a Google Pixel by director Myesha Evon Gardner, the “B.T.W” release is part of a larger initiative called Hip Hop 50, organized by Mass Appeal. This multifaceted celebration commemorates the 50th year of Hip Hop and includes the partnership of Google Pixel as the exclusive handset device for the event.

Additionally, Mass Appeal has teamed up with Certified to unveil 50 product releases in honor of Hip Hop’s milestone birthday. The culmination of these releases will be the Pix Tape EP, set to launch in August, coinciding with the anniversary of Hip Hop.

Flo Milli Reimagines A Too Short Classic With The Boisterous ‘Flo The Whistle’

Google Pixel, Mass Appeal, and Sony Music Entertainment Certified’s “Pixel RePresents” series continues with Flo Milli and her boisterous new single “Flo The Whistle.” As you’ve probably guessed, “Flo The Whistle” is a reimagining of Too Short’s 2006 hit “Blow The Whistle,” right down to Milli’s clever homage to the original’s cover art. However, where the original is mostly remembered for repeated refrains of Short’s favorite word, Milli’s is an empowerment anthem in which she boasts that she’s getting money and can have any man she wants.

Pixel RePresents launched late last month with Lola Booke, who reinterpreted “Grindin’” by Clipse with “Blind ‘Em.” The idea of the project is to have women in hip-hop recreate some of rap’s biggest hits, culminating in the Pix Tape EP, which will drop next month to commemorate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. It’s a way to acknowledge women’s oftentimes overlooked and underrated contributions to the culture.

Flo Milli, meanwhile, has been busy this year, dropping “Whole Family” with Saucy Santana, “Anything Flows” with Maiya The Don, 2Rare, and Kari Faux. Her career’s doing great, and continues to go up with each passing day.

Listen to Flo Milli’s new take on “Flo The Whistle” below.

Flo Milli’s Muse Is A 7-Eleven Slurpee On ‘Anything Flows’ Featuring Maiya The Don, 2Rare, And Kari Faux

Flo Milli has done a lot of collaborating this year. The 23-year-old rapper worked with Saucy Santana on “Whole Family” or Lola Brooke and Maiya The Don on the “Conceited” remix. Now she’s back with a bigger, more iconic group effort.

For 7-Eleven, Flo Milli teamed up with Maiya The Don again, as well as 2Rare and Kari Faux for the new track “Anything Flows” produced by Nova Wav. The music video directed by Warren Fu is full of color and Slurpees. Plus, everyone’s outfits are impeccable and memorable, and the choreography is spot-on. The infectious track has Milli’s clever and fun flair, only made better and more catchy with the other rappers who she has obvious chemistry with.

Earlier this year, Milli worked with American Express on a partnership. “American Express and Depop are bringing my personal style to life this festival season and I’m so excited to be part of the first collection.” Flo Milli shared in a statement. “Through both my music and fashion, I always aim to express myself with authenticity and creativity. I can’t wait for Depop users to shop my festival-ready looks, featuring bold, glam pieces with Y2K and grunge influence.”

Saucy Santana And Flo Milli Are Coming For Your ‘Whole Family’ On Their Fiery New Collaboration

Saucy Santana and Flo Milli are out for blood on their new single. Tonight (June 16), the two have dropped “Whole Family,” a banging new collaboration that arrives out of the blue.

On “Whole Family,” the two rap superstars ride to the beat, which features a sample of “Apache” of The Sugarhill Gang. The two want all the smoke, as they start calling out their opps’ whole family.

“B*tch, you a ho / Yo’ mammy a ho / yo’ granny a ho / Yo’ whole family full of hoes / B*tch, you did yo’ toеs / Rockin’ them hand-me-down clothes,” the two rap on the chorus.

Santana’s verse is filled with scandalous double entendres, and he even makes a clever allusion to Will Smith, who famously danced to “Apache” on a famous episode of The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.

“Hands on my hips like I’m Will Smith / And if that [man] got a big ol’ d*ck, jump on it,” he raps

Equally as explosive is Flo’s verse, on which, she keeps her haters on notice.

“I can throw shade, and I bet she gon’ catch it / watching my page, hope the b*tch get the message,” she says.

Ice Spice Brings Out Flo Milli At Hot 97 Summer Jam, Twitter Questions Why It Wasn’t Other Way Around

On Sunday (June 4), New York’s annual Hot 97 Summer Jam festival lit up the city again, with locals like Ice Spice and Cardi B showing out. Others on the 2023 lineup include French Montana, Fivio Foreign, Lola Brooke, and Lil Tjay – not to mention the special guests brought out by headliners. While Bardi tapped Latto to join her for a performance of their new “Put It On Da Floor Again” collaboration, Isis Gaston recruited Flo Milli, who she has yet to collaborate with, for some on-stage fun.

Spice’s lengthy red hair was styled in mermaid waves for the show, and her booty made several cheeky appearances beneath her plaid mini skirt. After the concert she shared a photo dump on Instagram, giving a closer look at her outfit, consisting of fishnet tights, a cropped Supreme polo shirt, and her signature chain. In the comment section, Milli dropped by to write “Goated! 😍,” proving that despite the discourse flowing on social media right now, there’s no drama between the two.

Ice Spice Takes Hot 97 Summer Jam

After seeing videos of the “Pussycat Doll” hitmaker’s surprise appearance at Summer Jam, several Twitter users have expressed their opinion that Milli “ate Ice Spice up” with her vivacious energy. “Do y’all peep the difference in stage presence… Flo Milli should be in Ice Spice’s position. This is crazy,” one person wrote.

On the other hand, some feel as though the southern starlet’s fans should do less comparing (as Milli herself has previously requested) to other rap divas and more streaming of their favourite’s music. “If all the people that complained about Flo Milli not being as big as Ice Spice actually streamed her music… Maybe, just maybe,” someone in that camp quipped.

Flo Milli’s love for music started at a young age, writing her first song at 9. Flo Milli was inspired by Nicki Minaj after seeing the artist on BET’s 106 & Park. This prompted her to start rapping at 11, even forming an all-girl hip-hop group called Real & Beautiful, later renamed Pink Mafia. While the group disbanded by the time the young artist was 14, she would continue her music dreams. According to Flo, she was also heavily influenced by the likes of Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, and Erykah Badu.

Continuing to hone her skills into her high school years, she released her first solo song, “No Hook,” at the age of 16. Three years later, she would release the breakout single, “Beef FloMix.” The single was a freestyle over rapper and producer Ethereal’s 2014 track “Beef” featuring Playboi Carti. The hit breakout single would become a viral sensation on Instagram and TikTok. The song eventually reached No. 2 on Spotify’s Viral 50 chart in April 2019. The fully-produced version of “Beef FloMix” was released in July 2019. The song would soon garner over 46 million streams on Spotify in a short time.  She would further solidify her presence in the game by releasing her next single, “In The Party.”

Mixtape Success

The rapper’s hard work lead to her signing with record executive Justin Goldman’s label ’94 Sounds and RCA Records. She would soon release the singles “My Attitude,” “Not Friendly,” and “Eat It Up” in 2020. Later that same year, Flo Milli released the singles “Weak” and the J. White Did It-produced single “Like That Bitch.” The success of the singles built anticipation from fans for the artist’s first mixtape. Flo Milli’s debut mixtape, Ho, Why Is You Here?, was released on July 24, 2020, to critical acclaim from her fans. The mixtape would land rapper Flo Milli on the Billboard US 200, debuting and peaking at No. 78.

Flo Milli would continue the momentum of her debut mixtape by collaborating with big names and signing an exclusive global co-publishing deal with Pulse Music Group. During this time, she worked with artists, including Rich The Kid, Latto, and Big Freedia. She also worked with rappers Yo Gotti, Yung Bleu, and G-Easy. Milli’s grind would lead to her being nominated for Best New Artist at the 2020 BET Hip Hop and 2021 BET Awards. The rapper’s success would continue into 2021 with the release of the single “Roaring ’20s.” That same year, Flo Milli would be inducted into the XXL Freshman Class of 2021 alongside Pooh Shiesty, Coi Leray, and Rubi Rose.

Debut Album

On July 20, 2022, Flo Milli released her debut album, You Still Here, Ho? The album received critical praise from critics and fans alike. You Still Here, Ho? featured production from producers including OG Parker, Kenny Beats, and Dr. Luke. The album also featured artists including Babyface Ray and Rico Nasty. Flo Milli would describe the project as a rejuvenating experience that allowed her to express herself more.

Flo Milli Demanded Fans Stop Comparing Her Career To Ice Spice’s: ‘I’m Doing Great’

It’s a kind of sad inevitability that rap fans will compare two female rappers to each other, usually in an effort to put one or the other down just as she begins to see success. It happened with Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. It’s happened in turn to Coi Leray, Doja Cat, Latto, and Megan Thee Stallion. And now, it’s happening to two of rap’s biggest it-girls of the moment: Flo Milli and Ice Spice.

When a fan account noted Ice Spice being recognized by Billboard, some fans took the opportunity to try to let the wind out of Ice’s sails by negatively comparing her to Flo Milli. “i can give u 2 flo mili verses better than her entire discography,” wrote one spiteful commenter.

Flo Milli caught wind of the comparison and took steps to shut it down. “i wish yall would stop with this tired ass narrative yall love to push about my career,” she wrote. “and stop mentioning me while trying to degrade another artist its WEIRDDD. im doing great i went from being broke to traveling the world with my talent and im only 23.. pls RELAX.”

Plenty of Flo’s fans were quick to show their support, as well.

One thing is clear: The comparisons need to stop. There’s no accounting for taste, but underselling one rapper’s career in order to demean the other serves neither side.
