Russ and 6LACK are two longstanding names that can rap or sing at any given moment. Both have a true identity and have carved out niches in the crowed R&B space. This weekend, Russ and 6LACK are working together for the first time on a single called “Workin On Me.” It is a track all about the struggles of self-improvement.

The Secaucus, New Jersey native seems to be on a relationship/introspective kick, based on the pattern of his last few releases. “I Got You,” “Work This Out” with DJ Premier, “In The Dirt,” and “Drives” are in that similar realm. For 6LACK, this is his most recent work since his feature on Strick’s “COME ALIVE,” which dropped in early April. He then mentioned that he, “sent 6lack the song to jump on and he killed it.” Additionally, this track comes with some exciting news, “We’re going on an arena tour this summer,” said Russ.

Sukihana has also not been committed to anyone for about two years. So, with the two on the dating market and their recent hang outs well documented, there is a chance that they could be a pair. These rumors have also been discussed frequently because of a project they are working on. Ray J and Suki are developing a Tronix Music short film titled Hangover 69.

To help promote it, the duo also hinted a track accompanying it called “THROWING STACKS.” Well, that offering is now here, and it is raunchy, if that was not going to be obvious already. Anything Sukihana hops on is almost always going to be something vulgar and that is the case here. “THROWING STACKS” is a certified stripper’s anthem, especially with thumping bass, finger snaps, and spacey atmosphere.

Bobby Shmurda Works With Newcomer Eli For R&B Cut “On Something”

There were so many people on the Bobby Shmurda hype train back in the mid 2010s. A great deal of hip-hop fans were infatuated with arguably his two best tracks “Hot N****” and “Bobby B****.” However, all of that excitement for the Miami, Florida native went out the window in a hurry after his infamous prison sentence. He was handcuffed for weapons and conspiracy charges for the longest seven years and his return was a bright spot for the genre in 2021. Since being reinstated into society, the 29-year-old rapper has released two full-length projects and a bevy of singles. However, he has not been able to recapture that magic for about 10 years now.

It is clear that Bobby Shmurda is still struggling with songs like “On Something” coming down the pipeline. This is his fifth feature of the year, as he joins a new face to the R&B space, who goes by Eli. In fact, this is the latter’s first-ever release on streaming platforms. It is evident as well because this is perhaps one of the most forgettable songs we have heard all year.

Eli has a painfully boring and generic auto-tuned singing voice that sounds outdated. It is especially unbearable when he goes into his upper register. As for Bobby, his flow is equally boring and sleepy. Unfortunately, there are just no redeeming qualities to this track.

YTB Fatt Taps Rylo Rodriguez For The Moody & Melodic “In The Air”

YTB Fatt for the last year and change has been putting in the work to separate himself from the crowded Memphis rap scene. His cadence is a fairly unique twist on the husky and intimidating deliveries we are accustomed to from the city. Additionally, he possesses a solid ear for instrumentals, as shown with his single “Brazi Blue Cheese” back in March. He usually goes for extremely dark and murderous tones that are synonymous with the current trap scene. Fatt especially has a fondness for beats that include heavy piano keys, but on his latest single, he is going for a slightly different approach.

On “In The Air,” YTB Fatt opts for the traditional Southern hip-hop sound, while throwing in a looping guitar riff that weaves in and out. His close collaborator, klutchfrenchie, is credited once again as the producer this time around. However, YTB is teaming up with a new face as well for this single as well. This time, the up-and-coming star is hitting the booth with Alabama MC, Rylo Rodriguez.

His one-of-a-kind cadence adds some extra emotion to the already moody and melodic cut, so he was a perfect get for this one. “In The Air” supersedes a plethora of singles from YTB. 2024 looks to be another loaded year, as this comes after “I Luv U,” “Brazi Blue Cheese,” “Same,” “Backstabbin,” and “One Mo.” Not to mention, he has been active with his feature output too, linking with OT7 Quanny and DeeBaby, for example. Camila Cabello & Lil Nas X Provide A Much-Improved Offering With “HE KNOWS”

About a month and a half ago, Cuban pop sensation and former Fifth Harmony figure Camila Cabello had fans severely divided. The 27-year-old dropped the lead single for her upcoming fourth solo effort C,XOXO, “I LUV IT.” It was a head-scratcher for a lot of people, to put it lightly. Her repetitive and frankly annoying chorus, mixed with the hodge podge of an instrumental were harsh on the ears. Additionally, the track had a Playboi Carti feature that was out of place. Simultaneously, it has gone on to easily be his worst feature of the year so far. This time around, Camila Cabello looks to right the ship with “HE KNOWS.”

For us, this song far and away is of higher quality than “I LUV IT” in a multitude of ways. Instrumentally, the rhythm that we are accustomed to from a Cabello track is back. It is groovy, as well as dizzying, but in a good way. There are some hypnotic background vocals from what we assume are from her as well. Vocally, Camila does not come off sounding like a spoiled brat, which is how we would describe her delivery on “I LUV IT.”

Then, the feature, which is provided by Lil Nas X, is also an improvement. It is more fun, animated, and honestly quite hilarious. It still may not be for everyone, but it is far more memorable in comparison to Carti. Two of the more prominent figures in the LGBTQ+ hip-hop community are teaming up for what appears to be the beginning of another album rollout for Kevin. Late last year, he made his solo return after four years with his indie record Blanket.

Now, according to Genius, the Texas singer and rapper will be coming through with a project with the rumored title being glue. It does not have a release date, other than it is expected sometime this year. This alleged lead single “Tennessee” sees Kevin Abstract and Lil Nas X fully embracing their homosexuality and how their partners love all that comes with them. The raunchy track was produced by Kevin and Quadeca as well.

According to Yahoo Entertainment, this song was previewed during the second weekend of Coachella just a couple of weeks ago. Childish Gambino is getting ready to feed his starving fans in a big way very soon. The Georgia rapper and singer has been busy in Hollywood with acting roles lately, but new music will be coming up next. Just last week, he teased several new tracks off his upcoming reimagining of his last record 3.15.20 called Atavista. He did so during a GILGA Radio livestream last Sunday, and fans were having a blast hearing what he has been cooking up. Last night, Childish Gambino did the same thing again last night, and this time, a Kanye West collaboration was the highlight of the evening.

Accounts on X (formerly Twitter) were constantly resharing the audio clip and everyone is in agreement that it sounds fire. The snippet starts out with only Gambino rapping before revealing Kanye just seconds later. Production wise it sounds extremely familiar to a previous Ye record. The industrial and electronic beat would have fit snuggly on his 2013 experiment that was Yeezus.

As you can imagine, the Swifties are running up the streams and plays across all platforms. “Fortnight” with Post Malone is already one the album’s most tuned into tracks and for good reason. The opener has a lot of possible secret callbacks to past relationships and flings, as Genius has so astutely researched and theorized.
