Teyana Taylor on Divorce Court Doc Details Hitting Online: ‘It Is Very Heartbreaking’

Teyana Taylor is speaking out amidst recent reports of filing for divorce from Iman Shumpert. Hitting Instagram, Taylor stated she didn’t provide any statements to media outlets and revealed that it came from leaked court documents.

“It is very heartbreaking that someone would take out the time to make such a private matter public for the world to see,” Taylor wrote. “However, protecting my family is one thing I’ve ALWAYS done & for my children I will continue to do so.”

In a report report from TMZ, Taylor states the journey to dissolve their marriage began almost a year ago, citing the NBA champion is a “jealous narcissist” throughout their seven years of marriage.

The divorce was filed in January, announcing a separation this past September. Taylor states Shumpert is jealous of her fame and career in regards to feelings about his shortcomings. Shumpert allegedly was annoyed when photographers wanted solo images of Taylor and didn’t enjoy family events.

Taylor is stated to have wanted to keep the matter private, but recent court documents pushed items to the forefront. Shumpert then sent negative and manipulative messages while also picking fights. Taylor stated that Iman was “treating her cruelly and displaying extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the majority of their marriage.”

Adding the ball player “became more and more angry” about her status and shut down any possibility of a harmonious and peaceful marriage. Taylor also cites mental and emotional abuse, leading to the start of the 2022 divorce, which she didn’t go through by request of Iman.

Taylor executed the divorce in 2023 due to being “unable to handle the emotional rollercoaster.”

Rumors were flying months back about the marriage of Teyan Taylor and Iman Shumpert. Allegations of infidelity hit the internet when a woman posted a video wearing Iman’s chain. Teyana broke her silence about their marriage and announced on her Instagram page that they were separated.

AHT AHT! Not too much on my bestie! In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, “infidelity” ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children. Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT. We just keep y’all asses out the group chat lol, which is the reason we’ve been able to successfully & peacefully separate without all of the outside noise. On this date in 1956, one of Hip Hop’s original gatekeepers, Fred Crute aka Kool DJ Red Alert, was born on the Caribbean island of Antigua. Red Alert, a Hampton University alumnus, has become one of the least celebrated trailblazers of Hip Hop’s in its 50th year celebration. In the immortal words of Just-Ice in his 1989 hit “Going Way Back”, “…and to earn a position and do hard work/ you could ask Kool Herc or my man Red Alert..”

Influenced by the likes of DJ Grandmaster Flowers and famed radio personality Frankie Crocker, Red Alert is recognized as the first DJ to record mix compilation albums, which later became known as the “mixtape”. Red was also at the forefront of the legendary BDP vs. The Juice Crew battle, in which he set off the on-wax war when he broke the “South Bronx” single on KISS FM . Red is also the first radio DJ to play dancehall music on-air in the mid 80s. Red is also known for his signature chant “YEAAAAaaaaaah!” at the beginning and throughout his radio show mixes and appearances on various rap classic records.

Once established on NYC’s 98.7 KISS FM as the station’s premier Hip Hop DJ, Red Alert discovered more than a few legendary groups including the Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest, Queen Latifah and other artists who were under the Native Tongues umbrella. He is also the only Hip Hop DJ with a display in the coveted Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame in Ohio.

Today in Hip-Hop History: Ludacris Dropped His Sophomore Album ‘Word Of Mouf’ 22 Years Ago

On this day in 2001, Ludacris released his second full-length album, Word of Mouf. This LP was ridiculously successful, debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart and selling 281,000 copies in the first week. It also received critical acclaim, being nominated for a Grammy for Best Hip Hop album (he lost to The Eminem Show). The album today is Ludacris’ top-selling album and is certified triple platinum-selling 3,674,000 copies in the United States.

His debut album, Back for the First Time, peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 and served as a launching pad for the new sound that was refined on his Word of Mouth album. Containing hits like “Roll Out”, “Area Codes”, and “Move B****”, it is easy to see why Word Of Mouf got the attention it did. The production on this project, coming from the likes of Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, and Jazzy Pha helped to set the tone of the early 2000s rap music.

Word Of Mouf as a whole embodied a lot of what southern rap was in the 2000s. There were club hits like “Move B****”, that could appropriately get any function jumping and there were introspective, soulful story-rich tracks such as “Growing Pains”. The spectrum of styles that this album provided suited a plethora of listeners. After this project, Ludacris finally reached a #1 album with Chicken and Beer and continued to grow into a household name in Hip Hop. Even today, Ludacris is a highly respected figure in rap and can still be heard every now and again on someone’s radio single as a strong feature. Actor-turned-rapper Drake, known for his global musical influence and numerous chart-topping hits, has recently unveiled a surprising connection to Scotland. The 37-year-old Canadian, born Aubrey Graham received this revelation through a DNA testing kit ordered by his father, Dennis.

While the pair expected to discover ties to Nigeria and Cameroon, the discovery of Scottish ancestry added an unexpected layer to Drake’s heritage. The revelation brings him into the fold of the millions of North Americans who can claim Scottish roots.

Drake’s connection to Scotland became particularly significant after he performed two unforgettable gigs in Glasgow back in 2017. During those performances, he proudly declared himself a member of the Tartan Army, as reported by the Daily Record.

Expressing his gratitude to his Scottish fans, Drake reminisced, saying, “I am grateful for every fan that turns up to see me perform, but I will always remember being in Scotland in 2017; it was an unforgettable experience. Over those two nights, Scotland gave me two of the most insane crowds I have ever experienced. The Tartan Army took me into their hearts, and I took them into mine right back. Ever since then, I have felt part Scottish.”

Reflecting on the importance of understanding one’s heritage, especially regarding ancestry and ethnicity, Drake shared, “I have always been so interested in ancestry and ethnicity – I feel it is so important to have an understanding about who you are and what makes up your DNA. My dad had his ancestry looked into, and while the biggest percentages were Nigeria and Cameroon, we actually had it confirmed that we do have some Scottish ancestry, so that probably explains the love Scotland and I have for each other.”

Former Officer Derek Chauvin Stabbed in Federal Prison

Derek Chauvin, the ex-Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd, was seriously injured after being stabbed by another inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Tucson, Arizona. The incident occurred on Friday at approximately 12:30 p.m. local time within the confines of the medium-security prison.

FCI Tucson, known for its security lapses and staffing shortages, has faced challenges in maintaining a safe environment. The Bureau of Prisons verified that an incarcerated individual was assaulted, and in response, prison employees contained the situation and administered “life-saving measures” before transferring the unnamed assailant to a local hospital for further treatment and evaluation. The FBI has been informed of the incident, and visiting privileges at the facility, housing around 380 inmates, have been temporarily suspended. Fortunately, no staff members were injured during the altercation.

Messages seeking comments from Derek Chauvin’s legal representatives and the FBI have been left unanswered as of now.

This marks the second high-profile attack on a federal prisoner in the past five months. In July, former sports doctor Larry Nassar, notorious for sexual abuse scandals, was stabbed by a fellow inmate at a federal penitentiary in Florida.

The incident involving Chauvin is the second major security breach at the Tucson federal prison in just over a year. In November 2022, an inmate at the facility’s low-security prison camp attempted to shoot a visitor in the head. Fortunately, the weapon misfired, and no injuries were reported.

The recent stabbing raises questions about the safety and security measures at federal prisons, with concerns over inmate-on-inmate violence and the effectiveness of protective protocols within the correctional system. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack on Derek Chauvin.
