n honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Art Genesis founder Mashonda Tifrere has curated “I Never Really Knew You …,” a dual exhibit composed of a six-artist group exhibition and a solo exhibit of L.A. based artist Lanise Howard’s newest body of work, “M.U.S.E. Miss. Understood. Sensuality. Economized.”
“I Never Really Knew You …” features works from artists Tonia Calderon, Swoon, Dionne Simpson, Malik Roberts, Amani Lewis (in collaboration with photographer Mazi Smazi), and Calvin Clausell Jr. and has been carefully crafted to reflect the many layers of the ego and serve as a visual journal that offers a story of self-awakening and truth.
Spanning various genres and mediums, “I Never Really Knew You …” invites the viewer into the minds of the artists, highlighting their individual creative processes, growth, vision, and diverse voices. “Our mental, emotional, and physical health are all victims of the lies our ego-selves whisper in our minds,” Tifrere said. “The ego is the master of disguise. But once you witness the ego, you realize that it never really existed. ‘I Never Really Knew You …’ invites the viewer to realize that we are in control of our human story and that the only way to reveal our truths is by removing our masks and the many layers of fear they hide. Each work of art in this exhibition is a testament to the transformative power of self-realization to align us with life’s potential wonders.”
The exhibition will be open from May 15 to June 1 at Praz-Delavallade, located at 6150 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90048. The exhibition’s gallery hours are Wednesday – Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.

He captioned his post, “BRO CAME THROUGH AND DROP OFF A BAG [wave emoji] ALL THE FEMALE CORRECTION OFFICERS PUT ON LIPSGLOSS WHEN THEY SAW YOU THEY WANTED A TASTE [laughing face emoji] #COKEWAVE 4 LIFE #loyalty #2025 #HIPHOPSAVIOR.”
The “2025” hashtag is a hint that Max will be released from prison next year.
Max B was previously expected to be freed last year following a substantial reduction to his initial 75-year sentence for armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault and murder in 2009.
The Harlem native had his sentence substantially reduced to 20 years in 2016 after taking a plea deal, before announcing three years later that it had been further cut to 12 years. Recently, he has been boasting that he could be coming home, saying: “It’s almost over. Two more joints, n-gga, I’m sliding out. Max Bigavell. 45, I feel good, look good. I taste good, I smell good, n-gga.”

Authorities are investigating a shooting outside Drake’s home, The Embassy, in Toronto. Authorities confirm Drake is not injured.
According to City News, emergency response teams came to the home around 2 a.m. on Tuesday. A suspected shooter fled the scene in a car. The area has now been closed off by law enforcement.
According to a source close to CBC News and local police, the injured man was a security guard at Drake’s home, injured in a driveby. He was shot in the upper chest and was found unconscious. He had emergency surgery at a local hospital.
Law enforcement is not making connections to Drake’s current beef with Kendrick Lamar.
Joe Budden has exmained the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef as it currently stands. Speaking with Akademiks, Budden says he is now over it and Drake is tired.
“I’m over it. Drake sounds exhausted,” Budden said. “I want the battle to end after ‘Not Like Us.’ I learned today I like Drake on offense and not defense.”
You can hear it below.
Joe Budden on call with Akademiks stream reacts to ‘The Heart Part 6’ and says Kendrick has beaten Drake if the battle ends today

“The Heart Pt. 6” from Drake sounded like his last entry in the beef with Kendrick Lamar. He even raps in the middle of sexual assault jabs, “I don’t wanna diss you anymore, this really got me second guessing.”
You can hear it all below.
After Kendrick Lamar took Drake’s timestamp records, The Boy returned the favor, snatching “The Heart” series for his latest track, “The Heart Pt. 6,” which addresses Kendrick Lamar.
“The Heart Part 6 out now… And we know you’re dropping 6 mins after so instead of posting my address you have a lot to address,” Drake wrote on social media.
The song is in response to “Not Like Us” and features a screenshot of an Instagram comment from Dave Free, likely shared to the page of Kendrick Lamar’s lover Whitney Alford. In the song, Drake drives home that she slept with Free and questions who really is the father of Lamar’s son.
Additionall, Drake continues to state Kendrick Lamar has committed domestic violence and he planted the information used by Lamarr in his diss. Specifically, that he has an 11-year-old daughter.
Drake also spent a large amount of the song shooting down allegations of being a pedophile:
All you have to do is mention Sweet Chin Music, and WWE icon Shawn Michaels will be right around the corner. Kendrick Lamar mentioned the wrestling finishing move on “Not Like Us,” prompting Michaels to offer his services to the duo to settle the differences.
“Put the wrong label on me, I’ma get ’em dropped/Sweet Chin Music and I won’t pass the aux,” Kendrick Lamar rapped.
“A little Sweet Chin Music goes a long way,” Michaels wrote. “@kendricklamar, you and @Drake are formally invited to #WWENXT to settle this thing. I’m even offering my services to mediate.”
The Met Gala, often dubbed as the fashion world’s most illustrious night, unfolded its grandeur on May 6th at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, dazzling spectators with a fusion of innovation, style, and creativity. This year’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” delved into the realms of technological advancements to breathe new life into garments deemed too delicate or aged to be worn again. As celebrities graced the red carpet, they not only pushed the boundaries of fashion but also offered a riveting commentary on the theme, showcasing both hits and misses in the sartorial realm.
One of the standout looks of the evening was Zendaya’s ethereal ensemble, resonating with the theme effortlessly. Draped in an ocean-blue gown by Maison Margiela’s John Galliano, Zendaya evoked the serenity of the sea with cascading layers of tulle and fabric, complemented by a dramatic headpiece. Her interpretation of the theme was both captivating and refreshing, setting a high bar for the night.
Similarly, Alia Bhatt mesmerized onlookers in a mint green saree adorned with real gems, custom-designed by the renowned Sabyasachi. With a 23-foot-long train trailing behind her, Bhatt paid homage to the opulence and grandeur synonymous with the Met Gala, perfectly encapsulating the essence of the theme.
Nicki Minaj made a bold statement with an hourglass mini dress crafted from hand-painted golden silk duchess material, which was a masterpiece in itself. Adorned with 3-D metal flowers, each delicately hand-painted in bright hues. She completed her look with floral heels and jewels.
Natasha Poonawalla, known for her impeccable fashion choices, opted for a sculpted white bodycon dress with delicate black detailing, a custom ensemble from the Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection. Her look exuded elegance and sophistication, seamlessly aligning with the theme’s narrative.
However, amidst the sea of exemplary interpretations, there were a few misses. Doja Cat’s choice of a Vetements maxi-length wet T-shirt raised eyebrows, failing to resonate with the theme of reawakening fashion through technology. While undoubtedly bold, the ensemble seemed out of place amidst the gala’s futuristic ambiance.
Similarly, Kim Kardashian’s outfit, consisting of a pale grey cardigan layered over a rewoven corset, lacked the innovative spark that defined many other attendees’ looks. Despite Maison Margiela’s reputable name, the ensemble failed to make a significant impact in the context of the theme.
Nevertheless, amidst the hits and misses, one cannot overlook the breathtaking display of fashion prowess exhibited by the attendees. Cardi B’s spectacular black gown, designed by Chinese designer Windowsen, epitomized luxury and splendor, leaving a lasting impression on all who beheld it. Likewise, Jennifer Lopez’s sheer champagne gown, adorned with sculptured silver beading, epitomized glamor and sophistication, solidifying her status as a fashion icon.
In essence, the Met Gala 2024 was a celebration of fashion’s boundless creativity and ingenuity, where celebrities pushed the boundaries of style and offered a tantalizing glimpse into the future of fashion. As the event concluded, it left fashion enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the next spectacle, where innovation and imagination reign supreme.
