Post Malone is going above and beyond for his fans. The rapper made a significant impact on one fan in particular during his recent visit to Scotland. While in Glasgow’s Wunderbar earlier this month, Post came across a fan named Gregor Hunter Coleman. Coleman was was singing in the pub. According to BBC, Post Malone invited Coleman to meet him after his performance, and the two instantly connected and formed a bond.
“He said, ‘Do you want a drink?,’” Coleman recalled. “I was like, ‘Listen, I’m saving for a house so I’m not drinking just now.’ Which was daft, my mates were, like, ‘Why did you turn down a drink from Post Malone?’” Apparently, Post really liked the singer because he invited him to sing at his afterparty. “He started saying, ‘How much will you charge,’” said Coleman. “I said ‘Nothing, it’s Post Malone, this is the chance of a lifetime.’” Then, according to the fan, he and the rapper started talking more, which is when the offer was made to help Coleman with his down payment. He is keeping quiet on the exact sum that Post offered him, however.
Post Announces New Album And Tour
Yesterday, Post Malone made a number of huge announcements. The rapper has revealed his plans for a North American tour called “If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying,” scheduled for later this year. This comes hot off the heels of the announcement of his upcoming fifth album, titled Austin, set to be released on July 28. Furthermore, Post Malone will be dropping a new single called “Mourning” this coming Friday.
“You know, trying to really push myself and really do some cool stuff,” Post Malone said of the new album. “I played guitar on every song on the record and it was a really, really fun experience. I’m super, super excited to share it with you.” In his typical fashion, Post ended the announcement with some very sweet words for his fans. ““You know, I hope you guys just keep f*ckin’ being amazing and keep spreading love and just keep being yourself and I f*ckin’ love y’all, man,” he said. “Have a great f*ckin’ night, have a great f*ckin’ week, hug your fam, and just keep spreading love. Love you guys!”
Doja Cat is once again under fire for insulting her own fans. The singer is back in full force on her Twitter. Interestingly, barely any time has passed since she promised she’d be gone for a month. Doja’s social media activity has become more cryptic as the release of her next album, First Of All, approaches. The artist has been playfully discussing changing her stage name and the title of her upcoming project. She has been confusing fans in the process. However, Doja has recently been trolling fans in an even more insulting way than usual. It all started when she shared a message stating, “I’m low-key handsome, it’s crazy.” In response, someone informed Doja that she would never be funny.
Of course, Doja Cat took this as an opportunity to troll further. The user that told her she would “never be funny” seemed to be advertising a debut single on their Twitter. So, Doja responded, “How’s that debut single going?” This set off a long string of hilarious back and forth tweets. Doja and her fans traded insults, and much of it seemed to be in good fun. However, some took issue with a comment she made near the beginning of the troll fest. One person tweeted at Doja to say, “Everyone is mad because you are calling your fans dumb.” Without wasting a moment, Doja responded, “…….are they not?”
Doja Gets Put In Her Place By Fans
Doja Cat’s statement about her fans’ lack of intelligence has some people putting her in her place. As evidenced in the post about by The Neighborhood Talk, fans were quick to check her after the comment. “You was in dem chatrooms showing feet and we forgave you,” one fan said. “Don’t act dizzy now…” Doja Cat’s previous internet chatroom activity sparked quite a bit of controversy when it came to light. Another fan read Doja, as well, but their comment was far more serious in tone. “Your behavior is not doing what you think it’s doing,” they said.
Doja Cat has always been pretty controversial on social media, but lately the situation has gone off the rails a bit. The singer has been sharing snippets and small pieces of information about her upcoming album. However, in the process, she has also managed to insult fans, downplay her previous work, and make herself extremely unlikeable. The artist came online to announce the name of her new album, but she had some choice words for her two most recent albums. Doja stated that both Hot Pink and Planet HER were simply “cash grabs,” implying they were not her best work. She expressed that she could now disappear to an island and enjoy nature since she made her money. In the meantime, she said, her fans can mourn the loss of what she considers average pop music. Interestingly enough, she won the BMI Songwriter of the Year award after these comments. What do you think of Doja’s latest comment? Let us know below!
Rappers love anime. What was once a niche interest became a full-blown phenomenon as celebrities of all degrees have vocalized their love for the specific type of Japanese animation. Artists like Megan Thee Stallion have gone full cosplay, while Rob Bank$, for example, frequently name-drops his favorite animes on his records. Below, we’ve gathered a list of a few rappers who proudly showcase their love of anime.
Megan Thee Stallion
Megan Thee Stallion is one of the most popular rappers who like anime. She’s revealed her passion for the art form throughout her career, like dressing up as a Sailor Moon outfit for a Japan concert. However, her appreciation for Shoto Todokori has undoubtedly turned heads, specifically those who doubted whether her love for anime was merely an act. Her 2019 Paper Magazine cover included Shoto Todoroki cosplay as a tribute to My Hero Academia. In 2022, she cosplayed another character from the series, Mirko. Additionally, Megan’s taken inspiration from animes like Jojo’s Bizarre and Demon Slayer for stunning nail art. She has mentioned anime in most of her interviews and happily talks about why she enjoys it and how it inspires her.
Xavier Wulf
Xavier Wulf is a rapper who captures his love for anime through his music and aesthetic. Songs like “Psycho Pass” directly reference the cyberpunk anime of the same name. Additionally, the rapper uses popular animes to form his various monikers (i.e. “Eren Wulf Yaeger”) within his bars. Project X is directly by the anime Initial D. But the influence extends to the soundbites from the show that are scattered across the project. Aesthetically, Xavier’s use of the Katana appears frequently in his music videos and social media posts. On top of it all, the rapper refers to his fanbase as “The Hollow Squad” — a direct reference to Bleach.
Denzel Curry never shied away from his love for anime, expressing it frequently across his catalog. On “ULTIMATE,” he raps, “Claim you the homie / I turn into Broly” — namedropping the popular character from the Dragon Ball Z/Super anime. Similar to Xavier Wulf, Curry also made his love for Bleach known on “Vigorous,” rapping, “Ichigo bullets cause you know the tips be hollow.” Beyond that, he’s also referenced shows like Naruto. The deeper you get into The more Denzel’s discography, the more anime references you will find. He cited the anime Cowboy Bebop as inspiration for his album Melt My Eyez See Your Future, while the deluxe cover art pulls inspiration from the anime.
RZA is a trailblazer in hip-hop culture, who has also carved out a space in anime. The de facto leader of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan scored the soundtrack for Afro Samurai. However, it’s his love for Dragonball Z that speaks volumes to how deep-rooted his connection to anime truly is. “Dragon Ball Z represents the journey of the black man in America,” he wrote in The Tao Of Wu. The lead character, Goku, was sent away from his home and has to adapt to a new environment as outside forces constantly try to stop his advancement. “Then one day, he gets stressed out beyond his limits and Hulks out into his alter ego, Super Saiyan – a n***a with dreadlocks,” RZA concluded. Naturally, this drew a lot of attention. RZA also voiced a character in the anime movie MFKZ.
Lil Uzi Vert integrates his love for anime throughout his music and general aesthetic. Although his fashion sense has always been quite flamboyant, his love of anime only adds to his exuberant image. Uzi customized several of his luxury cars to include designs of popular anime characters. For example, his Bugatti boasts designs inspired by Spike Spiegel of Cowboy Bebop. On top of that, Uzi shared his love of anime through his music with the song titled “Sasuke” which is a character from the anime Naruto. The cover art for his hit “Futsal Shuffle 2020” featured him and some girls drawn in an anime style. However, Uzi previously admitted that One Piece serves as his favorite anime show.
When it comes to fans, no one has more of a cult following than Curren$y. Spitta claims that his fans are the most loyal and is willing to put them against any artist’s fanbase. Recently, XXL did a poll to their followers on Twitter asking what rapper had the most loyal fans. Curren$y replied directly to the publication declaring his fans the most loyal. Additionally, the New Orleans native mentioned how lucrative the independent route has been for his career.
“Me,” he tweeted. “They keep me paid enuff to provide for family, and have all the fancy shit that the chart topping artist have.” Curren$y continued, “Plus they don’t pressure me to change my style or adapt to shifts in music climate.” Furthermore, Spitta noted that his fans have supported him forever and have lifted him up on multiple occasions. “They have held me down forever and lifted me up forever at the same damn time, Curren$y tweeted. Moreover, his response prompted tons of Spitta fans to flood the comments section with high praise for the Jet Life founder.
Curren$y Declares His Fans The Most Loyal
One fan replied, “Been listening to spitta since I was 11 years old. Im turning 31 next month.” Evidently, all of the fans that replied were in agreeance that they were indeed the most loyal. It’s hard to dispute that when you look at Curren$y’s career over the years. He’s never been one to crossover to the mainstream but still has mainstream success thanks to his concrete solid fanbase. Spitta also thanks the blog era for accepting him early and giving him the motivation to keep dropping more projects.
Not only that but to attest to the strength of Spitta’s loyal fanbase, one fan threw bags of weed on stage every time the rapper played one of their favorite tracks. Back in March, Andretti sat down with Hot 97 to promote his collab tape with legendary producer Jermaine Dupri. He shared how he fell into being one of the pivotal members of the “blog era.” “I tell people all the time my homegirl just typed in Google when I put my first mixtape… That’s how I learned of all the blogs,” He told Ebro and the crew. Later he explained how seeing others write about him instead of the heavy hitters such as XXL gave him a revelation to cater to the tons more people that are rocking with his music and writing about it rather than trying to deal with the bigger publications.
