Rappers Who Discovered Other Rappers That Took Over Hip-Hop
Snoop Dogg Admits He Was ‘Out Of Pocket’ With His Eminem Feud
Hip-hop legends Eminem and Snoop Dogg found themselves in a brief quarrel earlier this year. It all started when Snoop gave his opinion on the 10 greatest MCs off all time, which decisively left Eminem off the list. Em responded with a line from his Music To Be Murdered By – Side B track “Zeus,” and the feud between the two escalated from there. Now that they’ve put their differences behind them and made up as friends and respected equals, Snoop now admits he was “out of pocket” with the whole ordeal.
Snoop recently appeared on The Breakfast Club for a lengthy interview about his new position as executive creative and strategic consultant at Def Jam Records, the recent passing of his mother, and, of course, his beef with Em. While Em did respond to Snoop’s snub with a diss track, the “Zeus” rapper admitted he was more offended by Snoop’s tone more than anything. “I think it was more about the tone he was using that caught me off-guard ‘cause I’m like, where is this coming from?” Em said about Snoop’s diss. “I just saw you, what the f*ck? It threw me for a loop. I probably could’ve gotten past the whole tone and everything, but it was the last statement where he said, ‘Far as music I can live without, I can live without that sh*t.’ Now you’re being disrespectful. It just caught me off-guard
In his Breakfast Club interview, Snoop acknowledged that he was “out of pocket” with the way he spoke about Em in public, revealing that he has since apologized to the fellow rapper:
“Man, I love Eminem and the thing is, we love hip-hop so much. We competitive, we battle rappers so that was supposed to trigger that in him. But we brothers and we family so we learn to appreciate each other for what we do and we had our own little conversation about the respect we have for each other and the way we need to talk in public about each other. I feel like I was out of pocket. I apologized to him and I let him know, and I’m just bettering myself. I make mistakes, I ain’t perfect — I’m Snoop Dogg.”

Eminem And Ed Sheeran Forged A Pen Pal Relationship Over Their Shared Collecting Hobby
Ed Sheeran and Eminem are familiar collaborators, as they’ve worked together on songs like “River,” “Those Kinda Nights,” and “Remember The Name.” Their relationship extends beyond their work together, though. The first time they met in the studio, they talked more about video games and movies than they did music. It turns out the two have a sort of pen pal relationship now, too, thanks to their mutual love of collecting cassette tapes.
On a recent episode of Later… With Jools Holland, Sheeran noted (via HipHopDX):
“I collect cassettes and I’ve got Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder, and they are quite difficult to find. The only person I know who collects the same is Eminem. He collects cassettes — that’s his thing. He loves collecting. He is avid at going to find them. We have started having this… it’s like a very cool pen pal thing. I got a message the other day about an LL Cool J cassette. He said, ‘This is the cassette which made me want to start rapping.’ I sent him Van Morrison and I will send him David Gray’s White Ladder next.”
Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran is fresh off receiving a positive COVID-19 test, meaning that his upcoming Saturday Night Live performance may be a no-go.

Elton John Says Young Thug Freestyles Better Than Eminem
English singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer Elton John recently declared Young Thug “a better freestyle rapper than Eminem” — a controversial statement that has re-ignited conversation about Elton John’s past “beef” with Eminem over homophobic lyrics on The Marshall Mathers LP. Elton John A Big Fan Of Young Thug Elton John spoke of his “amazement” […]
Elton John Compares Young Thug’s Freestyles Favorably To Eminem’s
Elton John’s been pop icon for literal decades, yet he shows few signs of slowing down, even as age is starting to catch up with him. In fact, he’s experienced something of a career resurgence, expanding into the world of hip-hop via collaborations with Lil Nas X and Young Thug. In a new interview with Billboard, Elton praised the latter, revealing the career advice he gave to Thug (despite having “no understanding of how rap records are put together”), and explaining why he was so blown away by Thugger’s recording process, even going as far as comparing it favorably to Eminem’s, another rapper with whom Elton maintains a friendship.
Recalling meeting Thug after the Atlanta rapper sampled his hit “Rocket Man” on the 2018 single “High,” Elton said, “He wanted to meet me…and we shot the breeze for 40 minutes. He said, “What do you think? What advice would you give me?’ I said, ‘Did you sing in the choir?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, of course I sang in the choir. Gospel choir.’ I said, ‘Sing more. Don’t just rap, sing more, because the mixture of rap and musicianship and melody is what really makes rap take off.’ And he’s doing that now.”
Of watching Thug record his song “Always Love You” by essentially freestyling it, Elton remembers being “just blown away. I mean, I’ve seen Marshall [Mathers] do it in Detroit, but I’ve never seen someone like Thug come in and do that. In the end, I had to leave because I think he felt a bit intimidated that I was there and I just wanted him to relax. But it’s just an amazing moment in my musical life… I have no understanding of how rap records are put together and it’s fascinating to watch.”
