Charlamagne Tha God & Drake Beef “Planned,” Radio Host Jokes As “Slime You Out” Goes No. 1

After disappointing us with several delays, Drake is under a lot of pressure right now to finish his For All The Dogs album prior to its October 6 release date. Though he seems focused on the task at hand, commentary from his critics is obviously bothering the Scorpion rapper at least a little bit, as he couldn’t hold back from lashing out at Charlamagne Tha God insulting his project’s first single. According to the media personality, “Slime You Out” featuring SZA wasn’t hard enough for him, and he didn’t seem to see the usual crowd of obsessed fans quoting the song’s lyrics until days after it dropped.

Drake had plenty of words for Tha God on his Instagram Story after catching wind of the diss, including calling him a “f**king goof.” Even with the shots fired between the two, the lyricist still came out on top as “Slime You Out” landed on top of the Billboard chart this week. Charlamagne addressed this news on Tuesday’s (September 26) episode of The Breakfast Club, suggesting that he and Champagne Papi have been planning their attacks on each other this whole time.

Charlamagne Addresses Drake’s Latest W on The Breakfast Club

“I told y’all yesterday that Drake and I plan these things every time he drops certain records. He wants me to hate on them because all noise is great noise nowadays,” the podcaster joked on air. “And I told y’all the play but nobody believes me ’cause I’m lying. But you should believe me even when I’m lying.” As AllHipHop notes, Drizzy’s latest achievement puts him just one spot behind Michael Jackson for most No. 1 male soloist records.

Charlamagne Tha God isn’t the only one who’s found himself at odds with Drake this month. While he was performing in Houston recently, some are under the impression that the Canadian attempted to diss Megan Thee Stallion after mentioning her name in a shoutout before awkwardly clarifying that he was talking about someone else. Read what internet sleuths speculate could be the rap diva’s response at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Proud Toronto Native Drake Dubbed One City ‘The Most Important Place In Rap Music’

Apparently, “Slime You Out” rapper Drake is going against his 2010 cardinal mantra: never home but always repping. Yesterday (September 25), when his It’s All A Blur Tour stopped at the State Farm Arena, the proud Toronto, Canada, native bestowed a rather cherished title onto the city of Atlanta.

In between songs, Drake took a moment to share his thoughts on the region’s impact on hip-hop culture.

“What would any of us be without Atlanta? All the love that you’ve shown, all the musicians that you birthed, all the contributions that you give. This is hands-down the most important place in rap music. And you should be very proud of yourselves,” declared the entertainer.

Although the sold-out crowd cheered in agreement, others had mixed reactions to the claim once the fan-captured clip was shared on social media.

“Aubrey is no different from a politician,” declared one user, referring to critics that Drake panders to every city he visits.

“But if it wasn’t for the Bronx, this rap sh*t would probably never be going on, so tell ’em where you from,” proclaimed another.

Despite the overwhelming pushback on his commentary, several users still agreed with Drake’s remarks.

“He is telling the truth. Unfortunately, Drake says this everywhere he goes,” wrote a user.

“He’s got a point. Atlanta has had a hold on rap music for at least 15 years as a collective,” penned one user.

Drake’s “Slime You Out” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Halle Berry Is Not a Fan of Drake Using Her Slime Photo as Single Art

Drake‘s new single, “Slime You Out,” featuring SZA, has made a No. 1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100. Proving Charlamagne Tha God was wrong about his assessment of the song.

The song is the 12th No. 1 single for Drake, bringing him into a tie for fifth most all time. It is the second for SZA, who also is in the Top 3 with the acoustic version of her hit “Snooze” with Justin Bieber.

According to Luminate, “Slime You Out” tallied an impressive 32.6 million streams, garnered 5.2 million radio airplay audience impressions, and achieved 2,000 downloads in the week ending Sept. 21.

Drake now only trails Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, and The Beatles. Once he tops the last one, his line on “Going Bad”: “I have more slaps than The Beatles” will officially ring true.

Drake’s most recent No. 1 was “Jimmy Cooks” from the Honestly, Nevermind album.

What Are The Top 10 Songs Of The Week?

Every Monday, Billboard unveils the top 10 songs on the latest Hot 100 chart. The most recent rankings, for the chart dated September 30, are out now, so let’s run down who had this week’s biggest hits.

10. Dua Lipa — “Dance The Night”

The Barbie movie has come and gone, but Dua Lipa’s soundtrack highlight is sticking around. It previously peaked at No. 6 and is still managing to hang with the rest of the big dogs in the top 10.

9. Gunna — “F*kumean”

After topping out at No. 4, Gunna is still going strong with “F*kumean,” which recently got the cover treatment from Chlöe.

8. Morgan Wallen — “Last Night”

Earlier this summer, “Last Night” became the biggest solo song in Hot 100 history in terms of weeks at No. 1, with 16 total. It’s now tied for second all time, behind just Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.” This week, though, it finds itself at No. 8.

7. Olivia Rodrigo — “Vampire”

Rodrigo just made some history of her own, as “Vampire” returned to No. 1 after a wild nine weeks away from its previous stint on top. That was short-lived, though, as the track is back down to No. 7 this week.

6. Taylor Swift — “Cruel Summer”

While Swift is currently embracing fall and the football that comes with it, there’s still some summer left for her, as her four-year-old song is No. 6 right now.

5. Zach Bryan — “I Remember Everything” Feat. Kacey Musgraves

Bryan and Kacey recently had their first No. 1 with their collaboration from Bryan’s new self-titled album, and the song’s still doing quite well as it remains in the top 5.

4. Luke Combs — “Fast Car”

Combs’ rendition of the Tracy Chapman classic is yet another country song that has spent time at No. 1 in 2023, and like Wallen’s hit, it was one of Billboard‘s songs of the summer.

3. SZA — “Snooze”

“Snooze” had a major week: It previously peaked at No. 7, and after ranking at No. 8 last week, it vaulted up to a new high at No. 3 in the latest frame.

2. Doja Cat — “Paint The Town Red”

“Paint The Town Red” was No. 1 a couple weeks ago, but it hangs onto the silver medal at the moment as it rests comfortably at No. 2.

1. Drake — “Slime You Out” Feat. SZA

What a week for SZA: “Snooze” is No. 3, and now she has herself another No. 1 by linking up with Drake on “Slime You Out,” which debuts on top. The song is significant for Drake as his sixth No. 1 of the 2020s, tying him with BTS for the most this decade.

Will Drake’s ‘For All The Dogs’ Be On Vinyl?

Drake’s new album, For All The Dogs, finally has a release date after months of speculation. Drake pushed the album back ahead of its planned release so he would have more time to finish his tour and the album itself, but also made up for the delay by dropping its single, “Slime You Out.”

With the album just two weeks away from release, fans might be wondering whether he’s planning on putting it on vinyl, as many of his contemporaries have been prone to doing with their own highly anticipated releases. Unfortunately, that seems unlikely, since he says the album isn’t quite done and the lead time needed to manufacture and ship records probably wouldn’t allow for enough time to do so before October 6. Drake’s notorious for finishing up his albums at the last minute, so don’t expect to see For All The Dogs 12″ on sale at Target anytime soon.

The last Drake project to be released on vinyl was Dark Lane Demo Tapes in 2020. Her Loss and Honestly, Nevermind were only released on CDs and those were released nine months and four months, respectively, after the albums hit streaming (CDs for both were released on March 17, 2023). On the bright side, Drake’s dad Dennis Graham says it’s the best music he’s heard from Drake while Lil Yachty promises some controversial topics. We’ve only got two weeks to wait to find out if they’re right; For All The Dogs is due 10/6 on OVO/Republic.

Are You Ok Lenard??: Drake Blasts Charlamagne Tha God Over Critique of SZA Collaboration

Drake Dreamville

Drake won’t be buying any more bottles for Charlamagne. Hitting Instagram, The Boy fired off at The Breakfast Club host over his opinion on “Slime U Out,” Drake’s collaboration with SZA.

During his The Brilliant Idiots podcast with Andrew Schulz, Charlamagne stated no one cares that the single dropped. “Drake put out a song last Friday, and nobody cared.”

Charlamagne pushed back on others on the show who opposed his opinion, saying, “It came out last Friday, and people just started talking about the lyrics yesterday.”

He added, “He’s gone be fine but you look at the album cover and hear the title ‘For All the Dogs’ you expect something a little more hard. More aggressive.”

On Instagram, Drake had some words for Charlamagne: “You kinda weirding me out g. Like you really obsessed with me or something for years like you look in the morror and wish you say my reflection type shit…whatever you gotta do to let it out I’m sure your 435 loyal fans will stand by you ya fucking goof.”

In separate posts, Drake called Charlamagne an “off brand Morris Chestnut”

What Happened Between Drake And Charlamagne Tha God?

Drake and Charlamagne Tha God are at it again. After a week in which Cardi B and Joe Budden traded back-and-forth comments over her second album’s first single, another rapper and media personality are apparently “beefing” over comments the latter made on his show. Tension between performers and the media pundits who cover them is nothing new; there was once a time these feuds even escalated to physical violence.

But these days, they usually just result in hilarious tit-for-tats on Twitter and Instagram and in this case, that’s exactly what happened. So…

What Happened Between Drake And Charlamagne Tha God?

Just a few days after Drake released his new single, “Slime You Out” featuring SZA, Charlamagne addressed the song on his podcast The Brilliant Idiots, making it clear that he wasn’t impressed. Noting that the album’s title would seemingly suggest “something a little bit more aggressive,” Charlamagne wondered whether the song wasn’t resonating with fans because of its focus on melody over rapping.

Drake caught wind of Charlamagne’s comments and responded on Instagram, writing in his Story: “Are you ok Lenard [Charlamagne’s real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey]?? You kinda weirding me out g. Like you really obsessed with me or something for years like you look in the mirror and wish you saw my reflection type shit. Whatever you gotta do to let it out I’m sure your 435 loyal fans will stand by you ya f*cking goof.” He then followed up with a press photo of Charlamagne apparently going for “pensive” and joked, “In deep thought about how you the off brand Morris Chestnut.”

If it seems like Drake might be overreacting to Charlamagne’s opinion, that’s only because CTG has a long history of provocations against the superstar, many pertaining to Drake’s sexuality. Fans on Twitter even collected a supercut of years of Charlamagne’s comments dating back to a beardless Drake.

It doesn’t see like Charlamagne is sweating the clapbacks though. On his other show, The Breakfast Club, he floated the unlikely explanation that he and Drake have been doing this dance as promotion for the album, which is due next month. “Back in the day, I can honestly say I was hating on Drake for fun… But after ‘Back To Back’ and he sent the bottle with the note, we came to an understanding and we agreed whenever he drops certain songs, I will hate on them and bring more attention to the record. I don’t think he needs it.” Of course, Charlamagne also said he was lying and no one would believe him, so who’s to say?

Teezo Touchdown Gets Brutally Honest Thoughts On Drake’s Co-Sign

Teezo Touchdown is becoming one of the greatest success stories in music right now. Over the past two years, his eccentric style and personality have made a lot of people love him. Many listeners most likely first heard his name back in 2021 on one of the biggest mainstream rapper’s projects. He made an appearance on Tyler, The Creator’s, CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST. You can find him on the eighth track, “RUNITUP.” But his feature run did not stop there. WESTSIDE BOOGIE grabbed him for his MORE BLACK SUPERHEROES tape in 2022. However, 2023 was the year that really got people’s attention.

Don Toliver got first dibs and brought him on for Love Sick in February. Paris Texas dropped their sophomore effort MID AIR with Teezo being one of two features on it. Finally, arguably the biggest fish in the water yanked Teezo’s line. He and Travis Scott created fireworks on “MODERN JAM” and that was arguably the final turning point for him. Many music fans loved the wild energy and whimsical vocal work he laid down and it is one of the best songs on UTOPIA.

Teezo Touchdown Reflects On Nod From Drake

All of these co-signs have been great for his growth and Drake put the icing on the cake. After hearing Teezo’s debut, How Do You Sleep At Night? Drizzy said, “Tonight I just heard some of the best music ever so I am happy and I will spare you little birdies thanks to @teezotouchdown.” Complex Music interviewed the genre-bending star about it. Teezo was incredibly honored and humbled by the praise, saying “Waking up to that, seeing that. Very high moment.” But, he kept it as real as possible. He also talked about the great amount of hate he got as well. “Literally the highest day of my career was also literally bogged up like, ‘Damn… They not really liking the album.’” But he came to the realization that Drake’s compliments are much more valuable than hundreds of random people saying it is bad. We continue to wish Teezo all the success in the world, especially after his amazing record.

What are your initial thoughts on Teezo Touchdown’s gratitude for Drake’s praise on his debut album, How Do You Sleep At Night?
