Chris Brown’s Alleged “History Of Violence” To Be Explored In New Documentary

Investigation Discovery has announced a new documentary that will detail Chris Brown’s alleged history of abuse. The network previously helmed the viral Nickelodeon exposé, Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV. The upcoming project is titled, Chris Brown: A History of Violence, and will air on October 27th, according to Variety.

The logline for the documentary notes that it will detail, “Chris Brown’s past all the way back to his troubled childhood, explores the lasting impact of the cycle of abuse, and poses the question: how does a man with such a violent public record maintain his superstar status? With expert and cultural commentary layered throughout, the documentary provides thoughtful reflections into each survivor’s experience and the psychological destruction in the aftermath of their abuse.”

After the documentary airs, The View co-host Sunny Hostin will engage in a discussion about domestic violence on the network. “Throughout my career, I have always prioritized being a fierce defender of women and children,” Hostin said in a statement. “Domestic violence is a very close, personal issue to me as I reflect on my past as a prosecutor of these types of cases, and in my role as a mother and public figure whose actions inform and help shape the next generation. This issue is a prevalent epidemic which knows no socio-economic boundaries, so I am dedicated to expanding and continuing this crucial conversation. The more we know, the better we can help advocate for change as a society.”

ID has already shared a trailer for the upcoming documentary. In it, a new alleged victim of the singer says, “I have not spoken about this matter publicly, but that’s the only way he can be stopped.” Brown has yet to address the announcement. Be on the lookout for further updates on Chris Brown on HotNewHipHop.

50 Cent Solidifies Diddy Documentary Plans With Netflix

Amid Diddy’s longwinded legal battle, one of his most vocal critics has been 50 Cent. He consistently trolls the Bad Boy Records founder online and even began teasing a documentary about his legal woes late last year. In May, Fif made this a reality and sold the doc to Netflix. Now, the Alexandria Stapleton-directed doc has been confirmed, and its proceeds will go towards helping victims of sexual assault.

“This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far,” 50 Cent and Stapleton told Variety exclusively today. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives.”

“While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs’ story is not the full story of hip-hop and its culture,” they also added. “We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture’s broader contributions.” An official title and release date for the doc has yet to be revealed. The news arrived shortly after Diddy was arrested in New York City last week and hit with multiple charges. He was later denied bail for a second time and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

Despite the circumstances, his lawyer Marc Agnifilo insists he’s “strong, healthy, confident and focused on his defense.” What do you think of 50 Cent’s upcoming Diddy documentary being confirmed for Netflix? Are you looking forward to seeing it when it finally comes out? What about the proceeds going to help victims of sexual assault? Wendy Williams’ Guardian Sues A&E For Allegedly “Humiliating And Exploiting” Her

Earlier this year, Lifetime unveiled their controversial docuseries, Where Is Wendy Williams? The doc puts some of the beloved former talk show host’s most vulnerable moments on display, including her opening up about mental health issues. This resulted in mixed reactions among viewers. While some thought it was informative to showcase Williams’ struggles, others began to accuse producers of exploiting her. This was only compounded when it was revealed that she was diagnosed with dementia and aphasia.

Now, according to PEOPLE, Williams’ guardian Sabrina Morrissey has filed a lawsuit against A&E Television Networks and its executive producer. Reportedly, she accuses them of “humiliating and exploiting” Williams for money. Morrissey alleges that they’ve made “millions off Wendy’s back,” while only paying her $82K for her participation.

Sabrina Morrissey Accuses A&E Of “Humiliating And Exploiting” Wendy Williams

In the suit, Morrissey also alleges that the crew “kept filming, trolling for the most embarrassing and shocking footage to titillate and sell to their audiences.” Williams’ team is asking that A&E cover Williams’ medical expenses and supervision for the rest of her life. The lawsuit comes after Creature Films executive producer Mark Ford spoke with PEOPLE about the doc in February.

“There was a guardianship in place the entire time we were filming with Wendy that was court-appointed to oversee her finances and her medical care. So I think the larger question here is about what can happen to someone under a legal guardianship if the family is separated from them and there isn’t somebody there on a daily basis checking in on their well-being,” he said at the time. “Wendy’s attorneys and the guardianship attorneys were consulted and signed off on the project.” What do you think of Wendy Williams’ guardian filing a lawsuit against A&E Television Networks and its executive producer earlier this year? What about them accusing the network of exploiting her? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Rihanna’s Former Publicist Discusses Drama Sparked By New Jay-Z Documentary

Rihanna’s former publicist spoke out about a new documentary about Jay-Z and new drama that sparked because of it. YouTuber Trap Lore Ross published The Disturbing Death of Jay-Z’s ‘Mistress’ earlier this month. It centers on the mysterious death of 28-year-old model Cathy “Kori” White, who died in 2011 after suffering a reported brain aneurysm. White allegedly told Jay-Z that she was pregnant with his child prior to her death. Jay-Z was married to Beyoncé, and they were expecting their first child, Blue Ivy. Rumors ran rampant, and many concluded White’s death was more sinister than anyone let on.

The documentary mentioned a publicist named Jonathan Hay. Hay represented Rihanna at the start of her career when she was promoting her debut single, “Pon de Replay.” In the past, Hay admitted to making up a story about Rihanna and Jay having an affair. Hay’s goal was increased publicity for his artist, and it was a successful ploy. Following his mention in the new documentary, he took to Instagram to note there was much more to the story. After that, he went to AllHipHop and discussed it further.

Rihanna’s Former Publicist Speaks Out About New Jay-Z Documentary

“So I was like ‘f*ck Jay-Z,’ since he won’t give us any attention and he’s being disrespectful to Amil, who was a single mother,” said Hay. “I’m going to get his attention and be disrespectful back to Jay-Z, as Rihanna was the best thing on Def Jam by far. I thought Jay-Z was a dirtbag, so I put out the story that Jay-Z was in a love triangle with Rihanna and Beyoncé, and that caught fire, sparked conversation, increased radio airplay, press coverage and other forms of attention. I was in an unapologetic ‘by any means necessary’ state of mind.”

The rumor, while untrue, caused police to interrogate Hay. The police had their attention on Jay-Z for several years, ever since an incident between Jay-Z and former music executive Un Rivera. That incident ended with Jay-Z allegedly stabbing Rivera. Hay attempted to explain that the rumors of an affair between Jay-Z and Rihanna (then a 17-year-old) were a publicity stunt, but the police didn’t believe him. Eventually, they did, and Jay-Z’s team made Hay issue a public apology for his actions. Hay alleges that he was supposed to get his other clients promoted on TIDAL for his cooperation, but never did.

50 Cent’s Explosive True Crime Documentary “TikTok Star Murders” Is Coming Soon

On top of impressing fans with his “Final Lap” tour, 50 Cent has been hard at work on another project, this time focusing his efforts on the small screen. Recently, he announced an upcoming true crime documentary, TikTok Star Murders. The doc will cover the tragic story of Ana Marie Abulaban, a 28-year-old content creator who was murdered by her husband Ali Abulaban. She and her alleged lover, Rayburn Barron, were shot and killed in October of 2021. Last month, Ali was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder for the shooting.

TikTok Star Murders will reportedly feature never-before-seen cellphone footage, audio, and more. It will also include interviews with close family members and friends of the former couple. The doc will become available for streaming exclusively on Peacock on June 25.

50 Cent Sells Diddy Documentary To Netflix: What We Know

50 Cent has been mercilessly trolling Diddy for months now on social media. All the while, 50 has seemingly been joking about developing a documentary series titled Diddy Do It. Now, according to exclusive reports from outlets such as TMZ, it is clear that this was much more than a simple joke for social media. Apparently, 50 Cent really is producing a Diddy documentary, and Netflix has been tapped as the series’ streaming home. Information regarding Diddy Do It is fairly sparse, as we’re still in the early days of the project’s development. Still, it’s worth diving into the available information and dissecting exactly what 50 Cent’s Diddy documentary will entail. Let’s uncover the facts as they currently stand, and unpack everything we know so far about Diddy Do It.

The Docu-Series Will Center On Diddy’s Alleged Crimes

Diddy has long been considered something of a boogeyman in hip-hop circles. Numerous rappers are seemingly scared to expose the mogul for his alleged wrongdoings. Despite his reputation, 50 Cent has been a public detractor of Diddy for years. This has culminated in 50’s constant trolling of the Bad Boy Records founder ever since Diddy’s legal troubles first began.

In the last year or so, Diddy has been accused of violently assaulting people, including his ex-girlfriend Cassie, as well as participating in numerous drug and sex trafficking crimes. 50 Cent even has a personal stake in Diddy’s operation, as his baby mama Daphne Joy has been accused of serving as Diddy’s sex worker. She has since denied the allegations.

Diddy and the members of his inner circle have not made things easier on themselves either. Last week, a video emerged which appears to show Diddy violently beating, kicking, and dragging Cassie throughout the hallways of a hotel. The LAPD issued a statement explaining that they would not pursue assault charges due to the statute of limitations. Still, Diddy seemingly admitted to his wrongdoing in the footage with a recent apology video. “I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help… Had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry,” he said in the video.

The Doc May Need Multiple Installments To Cover All The Details

50 Cent first flooded social media with fake renderings of posters for the Diddy documentary back in December 2023. While posting about the conception of Diddy Do It, 50 joked that he may need to continue adding new episodes as more victims continue to come forward. Diddy’s mounting legal trouble has seen something of a snowball effect in recent months. Multiple lawsuits, accusations, and a federal raid on Diddy’s residences have continued to compound.

Currently, there is no public confirmation of how many episodes Diddy Do It will span. There is a possibility that the Diddy documentary could continue on for multiple seasons. As of now, at least 4 women have accused Diddy of sexual assault, and physical abuse, while others are suing him for failure to honor contractual and financial obligations.

The Documentary Was the Subject Of A Bidding War

According to an exclusive report from TMZ, Netflix got the rights to 50 Cent’s Diddy documentary after an intense bidding war with other streamers and networks. 50 Cent is producing the film through his production outfit G-Unit Film & Television. He has already vowed to donate a portion of the proceeds to victims of sexual assault. Clearly, the fact that Netflix had to bid against numerous other streamers in order to get a hold of the documentary series proves that this is a hot story that won’t be going away any time soon.

For now, Diddy is in hot water, though he has not yet been convicted of any of the alleged crimes. Only time will tell what’s in store for the Bad Boy Records founder. One thing is definitely for sure, 50 Cent will definitely not let up on his long-time rival, no matter the lengths he must go to continue pushing Diddy’s buttons. The release date and additional information regarding 50 Cent’s Diddy documentary are sure to come in the following weeks as this story continues to develop.

The new documentary seeks to uncover the true history of hip-hop’s foundation. For the film, Nasheed spoke with Grandmaster Melle Mel, Grandmaster Caz, Busy Bee, Sha-Rock, MC Debbie D, Coke La Rock, DJ Hollywood, and more. As noted by AllHipHop, it controversially disputes Latinos’ role in the genre’s creation. Of that criticism, he told the outlet: “In the last 15 years, there’s been this push by the corporate media to say that Hip-Hop was started by Blacks and Latinos. And they’ve been pushing that narrative real hard. And that’s just not true. Not taking anything away from the Latino brothers and sisters, but they came later. And they did phenomenal things. But in the early stages of Hip-Hop, all the pioneers have said this: ‘We was just out there by ourselves. We were doing it by ourselves.’ And the Latino cats were the first students.” Check out Nasheed’s post featuring ASAP Rocky below.

Mase Explains Why He Hasn’t Commented On Diddy Footage, Reveals Plans To Do So

Out of all the people who are commenting on the Diddy scandal, especially after the Cassie footage, there is one name who hasn’t been as outspoken as some folks may have assumed: Mase. The former Bad Boy artist has voiced his fair share of disagreements, critiques, and outright animosity with the label’s boss in the past over business and personal matters. Of course, it’s not like he particularly held back when it comes to this recent wave of abuse, sexual assault, and sex trafficking claims against Sean Combs. But the It Is What It Is cohost hasn’t said much about that new hotel video, and explained why on Tuesday (May 21) on his show.

“I’m saving my takes for the documentary. If y’all wondering how I feel, it’s coming soon, pause,” Mase said on It Is What It Is. Previoulsy, he had reacted to a lot of the Diddy developments with about the same level of shock, intrigue, and side-eye as everyone else. However, the Jacksonville native might have more particular things to say about this new footage in question, or just recently signed onto a long-form project on the Puff case. Either way, it’s a curious choice.

Mase Refrains From Speaking On Diddy & Cassie Footage

Meanwhile, Cassie recently shared an appreciative yet heavy message following the response to the footage of her and Diddy. “Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers and those I have yet to meet,” it started. “The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning. Domestic Violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past.

“Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously,” Cassie continued. “My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in. I offer my hand to those that are still living in fear. Reach out to your people, don’t cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone. This healing journey is never ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you. Love Always, Cassie.”

Jamie Foxx-Produced Film On Luther Vandross Will Release In 2025

Jamie Foxx is a colossal figure in the entertainment world. He’s the rare performer who has managed to land a number one single as a singer and win an Academy Award as an actor. He even won an Academy Award for playing a singer, to further blur the lines. Foxx’s pedigree is unique as it is impressive, which is why he’s the perfect person to bring a film about Luther Vandross to fruition. Foxx is partnering with the companies CNN Films and OWN to release Never Too Much, a documentary exploring Luther Vandross’ impact on R&B music.

Never Too Much, which is directed by Dawn Porter, was picked up for distribution on May 15. She issued a statement once the deal was finalized, and restated how important Vandross is to generations of fans. “I’m thrilled to partner again with CNN Films and OWN to bring this film to audiences,” she said. “Luther’s music is timeless… and we can’t wait for all of his fans new and old to experience his brilliance.”

She also teased how much she learned about the singer during the making of the documentary. “I think people will be surprised at how much he accomplished in his tragically short life,” she added. “It is a joy to be able to share his true story.”

Jamie Foxx can’t wait to bring Vandross’ life to the screen. He issued a statement proclaiming the singer one of the greatest to ever touch a microphone. “Luther is one of our G.O.A.T.s,” he explained. “He’s one of the greatest singers in the history of music. It is an honor to be a part of the team to help bring this incredible story to the masses.” Foxxhole Productions, Raindog Films and Trilogy Films comprise the credits for the documentary. Foxxhole, as one might infer, is Foxx’s production company. Never Too Much will release in 2025.

A biopic on Vandross’ life is also in the works. Craig Seymour is currently adapting Vandross’ biography, Luther: The Life and Longing of Luther Vandross, for the big screen. Foxx will not be involved with the biopic, but he’s currently working on a biopic of his own. The actor will play Mike Tyson in an upcoming film, and he even has Mike Tyson’s blessing. Foxx will reportedly play the young and old versions of the boxer through the use of de-aging technology.
