“Mr. & Mrs. Smith” Trailer Sees Donald Glover & Maya Erksine Bring New Meaning To A “Work Marriage”

The first trailer for the Amazon Prime remake of Mr. & Mrs. Smith has dropped, showcasing Donald Glover (Atlanta) and Maya Erskine (PEN15) in the titular roles. The trailer doesn’t reveal a lot about the show. However, it perfectly contrasts the pair’s loveless marriage with the high-octane nature of their work. The supporting cast includes everyone from Parker Posey to Paul Dano to Alexander Skarsgård.

However, the project, comprised of eight episodes, changes a lot from the 2005 film it is inspired by. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie played a wealthy couple whose failing marriage is revitalized by the fact that they learn they are assassins for rival companies tasked with killing each other. Glover and Erskine are instead spies who are married as part of their long-term cover. As such, their entire marriage is a shame and the trailer goes to great lengths to show just how painfully loveless their partnership is. The show is set to debut on February 2.

Who Is Starring In Mr. & Mrs. Smith?

Donald Glover and Maya Erskine are set to play the titular married couple. Glover, also known by his musical handle Childish Gambino, has built himself a stellar acting resume. He is best known for Atlanta, which he also created. However, he has plenty of comedic experience as well with the likes of Community. He also recently appeared as a live-action cameo in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse while also reprising his Adventure Time voice role for Fionna & Cake. Meanwhile, Erskine has developed a reputation for her deadpan humor in roles like PEN15, Insecure, and Plus One.

Filling out the cast is a huge collection of Hollywood heavyweights. Parker Posey, Paul Dano, Alexander Skarsgård, and Sarah Paulson are all set to appear in the show. However, their roles aren’t all that clear. Dano and Paulson both briefly appear in the trailer. At first glance, Dano appears to be the Smiths’ neighbor while Paulson is seemingly their couple’s therapist. Are you excited for Mr. & Mrs. Smith? Let us know in the comments.

N.O.R.E Tears Up While Remembering Big Pun

N.O.R.E is a rap legend in every way someone can be. His time as part of Capone-N-Noreaga and his work since is still massively influential to the genre. Despite his status, N.O.R.E never hesitates to give credit to other artists when they deserve it. A new Amazon mini-doc called Hip-Hop X Siempre seeks to explore the crossover between hip-hop and Latin culture. To tell the story they recruited influential figures from both worlds to discuss essential experiences they’ve had between the genres.

One of those figures involved is N.O.R.E himself. During one of the most memorable moments in the documentary he remembers his friend and frequent collaborator Big Pun. “Pun was probably the greatest person I ever met in life,” N.O.R.E begins. “Not greatest Puerto Rican the greatest person I ever met in life.” N.O.R.E also told stories of Pun’s generosity. “I remember me and Pun both being platinum, and if he found out I was in the Bronx, he would buy me an Avirex and a PlayStation.” He noted that Pun was still so giving despite their similar levels of success. “I was like, ‘Yo bro, I’m getting’ the same amount of money as you,’ but he always wanted to give.”

N.O.R.E’s Emotional Recollection

Big Pun is a big focal point of the documentary. They also got collaborator Fat Joe to come on and discuss more of the musical elements of his impact. Meanwhile, Pun is far from the only rapper N.O.R.E has a lot of love for. Just last week a clip made the rounds of him meeting up with Nas backstage after a show in Paris. The two are clearly fond of each other and exchange a hug and a nice moment in the video.

After a recent performance at the Lovers & Friends Festival N.O.R.E hinted that he could be close to retiring from live performances altogether. At the end of his rare performance, he left fans wondering if they would ever get another shot to see him. What do you think of N.O.R.E’s emotional memories of Big Pun? Let us know in the comment section below.

Even Debbie Harry Herself Seems Impressed By Jensen Ackles’ ‘Epic’ Blondie Cover On ‘The Boys’

Jensen Ackles is known for many things, mostly acting, but also the fact that he is no stranger to belting out a tune every once in a while and kind of killing it. Perhaps the writers of The Boys found this out and decided to use his talents for good in a new clip from the Amazon series.

Ackles’ character, a superhero by the name of Solider Boy (not that one), managed to perform a dazzling cover of Blondie’s 1980 hit “Rapture” during a preview of the very eighties show Solid Gold, complete with disco ball visuals and dancers donning side-ponies and body suits. Not only did Soldier Boy actually do a good job, but the cover made its way to Blondie herself, Debbie Harry.

Harry, who seems to be a fan of the show, responded to the video on Twitter, calling the performance “epic” and saying she was “speechless.”

Anthony Starr aka Homelander responded, “Epic indeed!! The version you never knew you needed,” to which Harry delightedly responded: “Homelander lazer us!!!” Perhaps there will be a Blondie/The Boys crossover in the newly ordered fourth season of the series? The icon even went back and forth with the official The Boys Twitter account, which makes a crossover even more likely. Let’s make it happen!

Longtime NFL broadcaster Al Michaels will leave NBC Sports for Amazon as the lead commentator for the entity’s new Thursday Night Football package.

Micheals took to Twitter to show love to NBC Sports for the time well spent with the company and let the world know he is heading to Amazon.

Michaels will be joined in the booth by longtime college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit, moonlighting between his ESPN college football duties and Thursday night NFL games.

Sources told Marchand that Michaels would be paid in the “Joe Buck neighborhood” to join Amazon. Buck recently left Fox for ESPN to become the lead commentator for Monday Night Football. Buck’s deal with ESPN is for five years and $75 million.

Amazon purchased the entire slate of Thursday Night Football games from the NFL last year. Micheals gives the upstart coverage a veteran voice for the telecast.
