DJ Envy Expected to Cooperate Against Cesar Pina

Screen Shot 2023 10 18 at 9.22.48 PM

DJ Envy’s lawyer spoke with famed court reporter Meghann Cuniff, who details The Breakfast Club host’s relationship with Cesar Pina.

Speaking with Envy’s lawyer, Massimo D’Angelo, Cuniff reports that “Envy is going to be assisting and cooperating fully” to get money back for himself and his victims.

D’Angelo said Envy invested $500K with Pina and “didn’t get any money back.” Adding, “He paid out substantial sums similar to some of the other investors who thought they were getting money back.”

Earlier this month, federal agents arrested DJ Envy’s former business partner Cesar Pina on Wednesday.

According to Tony “The Closer” Robinson, Pina, a.k.a. “Flipping NJ,” is accused of running a real estate Ponzi scheme. He is charged with scamming investors out of millions of dollars.

DJ Envy, real name RaaShaun Casey, is a co-defendant in multiple lawsuits filed by investors who say they were ripped off by Pina in an elaborate Ponzi scheme.

Envy and Pina held seminars to lure hundreds of investors to flip distressed properties for profit. But investors say Pina took their money and ran. DJ Envy also promoted the seminars on iHeart Radio’s popular Breakfast Club morning show.

Many victims said they invested with Pina because DJ Envy was his business partner and they trusted Envy.

But DJ Envy denied any involvement in the Ponzi scheme. He said he’s also a victim because he gave money to Pina.

Jose Santiago and his wife, Jessica Ortiz told News 4 they invested $200,000 in a Paterson, NJ property that Pina claimed he owned.

“He’s advertising this all over radio and television, so I thought this was legit,” Santiago said.

Nigel Chamblin said he invested nearly $1 million in several properties that Pina claimed he owned. But Pina didn’t own any of the properties.

“There were other people investing in these exact same properties,” Chamblin told News 4. “It was a scam, it was a lie.”

Is DJ Envy A Suspect In The Alleged Real Estate Ponzi Scheme?

DJ Envy, co-host of The Breakfast Club, generally provides light-hearted commentary, but right now, he’s connected to a very serious federal investigation. Cesar Pina, known as a business associate of Envy’s and occasional guest on The Breakfast Club, has been arrested and charged by federal prosecutors for “a multi-million-dollar Ponzi-like investment fraud scheme” (as reported by Billboard on October 18). People are giving DJ Envy the side-eye, and Desus Mero wasted no time using it as satirical material as this week’s The Daily Show host.

On Wednesday, October 25, People cited court documents regarding DJ Envy’s potential involvement in Pina’s alleged fraudulent activity.

“Pina partnered with a celebrity disc jockey and radio personality to conduct real estate seminars around the country,” the court documents state. “Through these seminars, self-promotional efforts, and other marketing strategies, Pina developed a significant social media following.”

People also relayed that Massimo D’Angelo, Envy’s attorney, exclusively told the publication that DJ Envy “had no involvement in the alleged scheme, and that he’s filed motions to dismiss two lawsuits that named Envy.” D’Angelo added, “Envy is a victim and sits in the same place as the other alleged victims are in these schemes.”

Meanwhile, Pina addressed the rumors surrounding DJ Envy during an Instagram Live on Tuesday, October 24 (as captured by Billboard), saying, “DJ Envy was never in the room with me. DJ Envy has nothing to do with any of these 20 lawsuits of these people who are suing me. It f*cking sucks, bro. It pisses me off that all these people are bashing DJ Envy.”

Billboard also contextualized the complicated legal matter, as excerpted below:

“For months, Pina has faced allegations that he promised dozens of investors big profits on real estate deals in Northern New Jersey, only to return little or nothing. Those accusations started on social media but quickly turned into at least 20 civil lawsuits; one victim attorney estimated that more than 30 investors have come forward, seeking over $40 million from Pina and his wife, Jennifer.

Many of those lawsuits, including one filed by music industry veteran Anthony Martini, name DJ Envy as a co-defendant, citing his close ties with Pina — including Pina’s frequent appearances on The Breakfast Club and a series of real estate seminars that the two men co-hosted. Envy has strongly denied the accusations, saying he knew nothing about any foul play and actually lost $500,000 that he invested with Pina.”

You can watch what DJ Envy had to say about it on the October 11 episode of The Breakfast Club below.

Angela Yee Questioned DJ Envy About Real Estate Business In Resurfaced Video

DJ Envy’s major real estate scam has become the story that everyone can’t stop talking about. The Breakfast Club co-host was first swept up in the scandal by some crafty local news reporting last month. But at the time it was unclear what his level of involvement was. Now, it’s become a lot clearer that Envy knew more than he was willing to admit to.

Amid DJ Envy being increasingly named in various lawsuits related to real estate fraud scams, dozens of celebs have spoken out against him. Rick Ross led the way when he and Funk Flex lit into the host. They took aim directly at his shady dealings last month and it hasn’t relented since. It was first addressed on The Breakfast Club earlier this month and that’s when things really started to spiral out of control. One of his primary associates was hit with a fraud charge shortly after. Rumors have swirled about an apparent raid on Envy’s iHeartRadio office and The Breakfast Club even looking for a potential new host. Amid the revelations, fans have been pouring through old clips looking for details that look very different with the newfound context. Check out one of those clips below.

In the clip, DJ Envy explains how he’s trying to give back to the community and educate people. While those comments haven’t aged very well, Angela Yee’s response has. She continually questions him on some of the details with an air of suspicion that seems more than justified in retrospect. It isn’t the only video that fans have been re-examining in the wake of recent news.

There’s another unfortunate clip that fans recently dug up. In that video, Envy offers a free chain to those who would sign up and eventually become victims of the scheme. Desus Nice Eviscerates DJ Envy On “The Daily Show”

Desus Nice and DJ Envy had a feud back in the day. Overall, it played out at The Breakfast Club, and Desus’ former partner Mero was there as well. In fact, Envy had beef with both of them over comments they made on their show. Subsequently, there was a huge fallout from the confrontation. However, the internet was firmly on Desus’ side. Now, DJ Envy is being scrutinized for his alleged role in a real estate scam committed by Cesar Pina. As you can imagine, Desus is paying close attention.

This week, it just so happens that Desus Nice is the guest host on The Daily Show. The influential parody news show is looking for a new host, and Desus is being given a tryout of sorts. On last night’s episode, he tackled the DJ Envy case. Overall, he took a sarcastic tone, saying the story was “very serious” despite laughing through the segment. Additionally, he referenced their previous feud, noting just how much he is reveling in all of this.

Desus Nice For “The Daily Show”

“It’s definitely not funny. There’s certainly nothing personal that makes it funny to me. It’s not like RaaShaun accosted me on the radio for making a little joke about him and his wife, which I only thought we were friends,” Desus said. “It’s not like he called me ‘d*ckhead’ and then got so mad he locked himself in the studio for the rest of the show and then told the building security I was a threat. But even if that happened, that’s all in the past.” Needless to say, it couldn’t have been better timing for Desus to host the show.

Recently, Cesar Pina told his followers that Envy is completely innocent in all of this. However, an investigation is currently still pending. Give us your thoughts on the Desus segment, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Erica Mena Details Affair With DJ Envy: “I Got A Phone Call From The Wife”

Erica Mena has spoken out about her 2013 affair with DJ Envy, revealing that she was unaware he had a wife until she received a phone call from Gia Casey. The former Love & Hip Hop star reflected on the relationship during a new interview with Carlos King.

“That came out right when I got on Love and Hip Hop, and we had just broken up because the wife found out, which I was totally oblivious to. I knew about the kids, mind you; I have a kid, but I have a baby daddy, and it’s more common where we come from to have kids, but you’re not married; you just got a baby mama,” she told Carlos King. Mena added: “I knew about the kids, and it was always told to me [she was] his kid’s mother, never wife. And I didn’t get that realization until I got a phone call from the wife.”

The comments come amid a rough stretch for both Mena and Envy. Mena was recently fired from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta after using racial slurs during an argument with Spice. DJ Envy, on the other hand, is currently wrapped up in a scandal of his own after his longtime business partner, Cesar Pina, was arrested for fraud, last weekend. DJ Envy Is Innocent, Claims Cesar Pina In New Video

DJ Envy and Cesar Pina are two names that have dominated hip-hop discussion. Overall, it has to do with Pina and his alleged real estate scam. He was arrested and subsequently released on bond last week. However, Envy is now being questioned for his alleged role in all of this. After hosting seminars with Pina, many believe Envy is guilty. Last night, Pina went on a livestream and did his best allege Envy’s innocence.

“You have all these people being coerced to sue people affiliated with me just because they are a bigger name,” Pina said. “That’s the situation that breaks my heart. In all these lawsuits, these 20 lawsuits, DJ Envy was never in the room with me. DJ Envy has nothing to do with any of these 20 lawsuits of these people that are suing me. It f**king sucks, bro. It pisses me off that all these people are bashing DJ Envy…What you gotta understand is, DJ Envy is so successful in hip-hop, as far as a DJ, that people just don’t like him.”

Cesar Pina Talks DJ Envy

Subsequently, he spoke on a recent statement from Envy’s lawyer. Overall, Massimo D’Angelo is claiming Envy is a victim. However, Pina does not see it that way at all. “I understand his attorney, his defense to DJ Envy is a victim. That’s the dumbest sh*t I ever heard in my life,” Pina noted “Me and him were partners in the real estate seminars. We are partners in a couple of real estate transactions. That’s it. He’s not a victim. He was my partner. He was an investor.”

These statements could go a long way in helping Envy get out of this matter. However, it still remains to be seen whether or not the law will see it that way. Let us know what you think of this situation, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the music world. DJ Envy To Cooperate In Cesar Pina Case, Attorney Calls Radio Host A “Victim”

DJ Envy is currently being investigated as part of the arrest of Cesar Pina. For those who don’t know, Pina stands accused of running a real estate scheme. Overall, it is alleged that Pina committed wire fraud and stole money from investors. Envy was Pina’s business partner and the two could be seen in various videos together. However, Envy has maintained his innocence this whole time. In fact, he believes he is a victim in all of this as Pina made off with his money, as well.

This belief was recently corroborated by Envy’s lawyer, Massimo D’Angelo. While speaking to XXL, D’Angelo explained that Envy believes he is a victim. Furthermore, he intends to cooperate completely with the investigation. “DJ Envy is a victim of the purported fraudulent real estate scheme and sits in the same shoes of the other victims, and, of course, he will assist and cooperate to get his investment back, along with those of the other alleged victims,” D’Angelo said to XXL.

DJ Envy Maintains Innocence

Overall, this statement by D’Angelo is very much in line with everything else that Envy has said in the past. For instance, Envy was on The Breakfast Club where he said all he wanted to do was “uplift” his community. Although his legal representation has told him to stay quiet on all of this, he does seem eager to clear his name. Given his connections to Pina, and the public videos of the two together, a lot of damage has already been done in the public eye.

This is still a developing story with plenty of moving parts. Having said that, be sure to stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will always be sure to keep you informed. Additionally, let us know what you think of all this, in the comments below.
