Akbar V is one of Nicki Minaj’s strongest defenders, and she wants to make this clear in a court of law. Moreover, she recently tweeted some interesting claims concerning the Trinidadian MC’s $5 million lawsuit from a former super fan who accused her of slander and mistreatment. Apparently, Nicki has a countersuit ready to go, but that doesn’t mean that Akbar can’t contribute to her defense… Well, in the online space, at least. Moreover, she claimed to have evidence that paints this former Barb as a manipulator and as the person who instigated a lot of this complicated relationship, so we’ll see what comes of that.

Earlier this week, Tyler Perry sat down with Keke Palmer on her podcast Baby, This is Keke Palmer. Shortly after, a few of his comments went viral. At one point in the episode, Perry addressed criticism, alluding to claims that his films consistently portray Black women in distress. According to him, critics have no right to determine what kinds of stories he decides to tell through his movies, and shouldn’t dismiss them as less important than others.

“A large portion of my fans are disenfranchised. Who cannot get in the Volvo and go to therapy on the weekend,” he explained. “You’ve got this highbrow negro who is all up in the air with his nose up looking at everything… Don’t discount these people and say their stories don’t matter. Who are you to be able to say which Black story is important, or should be told? Get out of here with that bullsh*t.”

Keke Palmer Stands Up For Tyler Perry

Perry earned a great deal of backlash for his remarks, including misogyny accusations and more. Now, Palmer has come to his defense on X, arguing that critics are directing their anger at the wrong entity. “The enemy isn’t Tyler it’s the system that makes it hard for multiple black artist to shine at one time,” she began. “Oppression turns you against the person that gets the shine opposed to questioning why there can only be so few at a time. Tyler is not the gatekeeper of all black stories he’s just one creative who broke through the system. Advocating for others to do the same is the fight, not hating Tyler for his work that many do love.”

PnB Rock Murder Trial Officially Gets Underway: Details

Almost two years ago (September 12), the hip-hop world tragically lost Philadelphia multi-hyphenate, PnB Rock. The then 30-year-old hitmaker was fatally shot at the Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles location in South Los Angeles. He was one of the hottest rapping/singing talents on the market toward the end of the 2010’s decade. Over at HNHH we continue to send our thoughts to his loved ones, especially today. The reason for that is because the murder trial for PnB Rock has officially begun, according to XXL. If you remember, three suspects were arrested following the unthinkable crime. Those included the 17-year-old alleged shooter, his father, Freddie Trone, and stepmother Shauntel Trone.

The trial’s opening statements were delivered by Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney, Timothy Richardson. What we know is that the jury consists of four women and eight men. Perhaps the biggest piece of information from what Richardson said actually happened just days before the murder trial. That is the fact that prosecution was going to show surveillance footage proving Freddie Tone instructed his son to allegedly walk into the restaurant to shoot and rob PnB Rock. Unsurprisingly, Freddie Tone’s lawyer, Winston McKesson, is refuting this claim stating that there is a lot of “guesswork” on the part of the State. “My client, Freddie Trone, did not pull the trigger. He was not inside the restaurant at the time. This charge of murder is the most serious charge. We have to have evidence to support it”.

PnB Rock’s Murder Happened Nearly Two Years Ago

Later, McKesson added, “You will hear no evidence that he planned this with his son. That he instructed his son to do this, or he egged him on. They will have evidence that my client did help his son cover this up. We’re not disputing that. What we’re saying is the gunman acted alone”. Mr. Trone pleaded not guilty to one count of murder, two counts of robbery, and a count of conspiracy to commit a felony. Additionally, there is defense representing a man named Tremont Jones. Jones is pleading not guilty after receiving charges with two counts of robbery, conspiracy to rob the rapper and illegally possessing a firearm as a felon. Furthermore, prosecutors are claiming that Jones made Mr. Trone and his son aware of PnB Rock’s location the night of the tragedy.

Fans are still going wild over the news about a defense lawyer in the YSL RICO case getting arrested for gang activity. However, this social media firestorm gave a lot of people the wrong idea about this development, something Metro Boomin isn’t happy with at all. Moreover, he took to Twitter on Friday (February 16) to call out folks falsely assuming that Nicole Fegan is part of Young Thug’s legal team, specifically. “that lady not even thug lawyer y’all gotta stop spreading misinformation,” the producer expressed, as she is part of the wider defense team for Young Stoner Life’s case. While Fegan is reportedly out on bond at press time, it’s still unclear what kinds of ramifications this will pose for the trial. This is all speculative, as this isn’t coming from any legal expert, but some folks think that it could damage the YSL and Young Thug case, which is definitely the case as far as optics go. Folks all over rap Twitter are talking about the shocking arrest of YSL’s defense lawyer in their RICO case, who reportedly got out on a $40K bond according to WSB-TV. Moreover, the court charged Nicole Fegan with participation in criminal street gang activity and criminal solicitation to commit the offense of evidence tampering. Of course, this is still under scrutiny at press time, and little is known about how this could potentially affect the current trial of Young Thug and others. It certainly doesn’t paint well in terms of the optics, though, as prosecutors will most likely try to turn this in their favor. But we’ve still yet to see whether there’s any truth behind these accusations in court.

To be clear, Fegan is not on Young Thug’s individual team, specifically, but she represented other YSL members as part of the collective’s full defense team. However, this is far from the only scandalous story of note when it comes to this case’s main players. This time around, it’s on the defensive end, but those pushing the case towards conviction also became embroiled in other accusations of wrongdoing. Fulton County, Georgia’s District Attorney Fani Willis, who is also prosecuting a case against Donald Trump, faces allegations of having an inappropriate affair with another prosecutor.

YNW Melly’s Prosecutors Call His Defense Team “Flawed”

YNW Melly’s retrial for double murder is coming up, but not before each side can levy accusations at each other about its previous mistrial. Moreover, his defense team claimed that prosecutors tried to cheat their way to a conviction, according to court documents obtained by HipHopDX. The specific allegations are that lead detective Mark Moretti told a Broward Country Sheriff’s deputy to falsely state their presence as he- with excessive force- executed a search warrant on the rapper’s mother. Not only that, but Assistant State Attorney Michelle Boutros accused Moretti of unethical behavior. However, an internal affairs investigation in the Miramar Police Department concluded that this contradicts her previous testimony about the detective, plus other accounts that he did nothing wrong.

Furthermore, YNW Melly’s attorneys motioned for the court to block the state attorney’s office from the case. The prosecution responded by telling Judge John H. Murphy that this move is misguided. “Defendant’s flawed reasoning and rank speculation provides no grounds to disqualify the Office of the State Attorney […] and accordingly his motion must be DENIED,” they filed. “A court should hesitate to impose the drastic measure of disqualification of Government counsel. Recusal should be granted only when necessary.”

Regardless, though, there are other factors at hand that could continue to push the retrial back. For example, YNW Melly and YNW Bortlen faced accusations of witness tampering recently. These claims came straight from the state’s attorney’s office. While the Florida MC’s legal team called this a “distraction” from the prosecution’s improper behavior, this could prove crucial.

In his remarks, he invoked the principle of “innocent until proven guilty” and how that’s flipped in his eyes as people aim to “destroy” his life.

“There needs to be, obviously, a conviction here,” Elon Musk said of Russell Brand on Thursday (September 28). “It can’t be guilty until proven innocent. Because, obviously, we’re just sort of in the witch burning phase here. Just being declared a witch is enough to make you a witch and be burnt. Quando Rondo’s Lawyer Names Ray Charles & Led Zeppelin To Try To Free Him

Authorities recently indicted Quando Rondo on drug and gang-related charges, alleging he leads the Rollin’ 60s organization. During a bond hearing in Georgia on Friday (June 23), his attorney Jonah Pine argued for his prompt release from jail in court. However, his argument contained some interesting references and reasoning in relation to the Savannah native’s music career and opportunities. Moreover, he spoke of his placement on Atlantic Records, bringing up the label’s extensive and commercially gigantic history, plus their concern for the MC. Even though it may seem odd for spectators of the trial, it would be far from the first time that an artist’s success and status tried to be used as an argument for their freedom.

“He’s got the support of one of the greatest record labels in this country,” Pine remarked according to WTOC. “The same record label as Led Zeppelin and Ray Charles, that’s his label. They’ve provided a letter to us, it’s very heartfelt and talks about his career.” On the other hand, prosecutors expressed belief in Quando Rondo being a flight risk and posing a dangerous threat to his community.
